Food was great when it arrived. They delivered to the wrong house, then we had to wait for new food and it was missing items when it came. Luckily it tasted great.

First time ordering as new to the area. Super food, on time, lovely delivery driver and restored our faith in takeaways in St Austell - great start to the weekend, thank you!

We always used to use the Taj for an Indian but the last two have been rubbish. We thought we would try the Taste of India. What a difference, I had the Naga lamb, Amazing food so tasty. Found our new favourite.

after speaking with owner to sit down he asked me also for my name, i think these guys maybe credit card fauding, does twist bake hose do same? I ask a normal delivery driver from brazil would ask this u already delivered here b4 do ur drivers have crb checks? i can check them.

driver wanted my first name on delivery after letting him flats with buzzer to confirm i was delivery order, we had a confrotation. Im not being treated LIKE U CANT MEET ME ON THE STAIRS WHEN I LET U IN u pressed my buzzer u have my card details but wont be ordering again..

Worst Indian food I ever had. I am an Indian and I can definitely say, this is not the real taste of India. Quantity is very less but not complaining as it is tasteless.

don't know if the chef was having a bad day or what but it just wasn't good this time round. both Curry's was gritty and bland, sagaloo was bland tasted like tinned potatos. the chicken chap was lovely and so was the mushroom rice although I ordered two but only one came it was just a real let down this evening. paid £60 didn't get anything extra to say thanks for the big order like most takeaways do

Just had a takeaway delivered that was 25 minutes later than we were told (just be honest and it's fine), papadums were soft, rice wasn't even warm and the roti was rock hard, ended up putting the oven on to get the papads crispy like they should be and attempted to resurrect the roti with butter, things you really shouldn't have to do when you've paid for a meal, so annoying. Curries also weren't heat hot but were alright in taste. Haven't tried TOI in a while and won't be again, literally can't get a half decent Indian/ Bengali meal in St Austell now and fed up paying for disappointment 😣

Food was lovely as always , my only complaint (and this has happened only one time- today) , was the plain naan that was part of the lamb tikka balti meal didn’t come. But as I say this has been a one tine occurrence and I will always highly recommend this restaurant . Lovely food, very tasty, always piping hot, and always on time or early 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Wow, incredible food! Best Indian/Bengali food I’ve eaten 🤤 we took our meals away back to eat in our tent and it was just what we needed after a long day and in the stormy weather. The owner’s daughter was so sweet and polite with us on the phone and they even stayed open a little later so we could collect in time. Highly recommend. The chicken chaat starter was absolutely divineeee (recommended by the daughter) and the mains were chef’s kiss. And, all halal. MUST VISIT!

Tonight's was missing salad with two starters, and two portions of bombay potato. Shame as they're really tasty!

Communication was great and the food was 5/5 Tava King prawns were amazing and Peshawari naan was fresh and sweet. Free poppadoms and salad were a nice surprise! I'm so glad I've finally found a good local curry house.

Really disappointed been here a few times last night was the worst time yet. Ordered Lamb madras Butter chicken Chips Samosas Peshwari naan Garlic naan Keema rice And onion bhajis. My partners samosas was practically the pastry and was chewy. My onion bhajis were dry and chewy. Half of my lamb madras was spilled in the bag and was cold. My partners butter chicken had half of my madras in it so he couldn't eat it. Chips were cold. The only warm thing there was the naan breads. Delivery driver was also very rude on the phone to me when trying to find our address. Called up to tell them what happened a man answered he offered me 2 choices to send out another one (lamb madras) or a percentage off the next time I ordered. I explained to him that there's not point sending me another madras out due to food already getting cold and I won't be ordering again so would like a refund just on the 2 curry's as they were completely ruined and could not eat them. He said when his supervisor is back he would give me a call to authorise this. He did give me a call back but the refund did not work, he then said he'll have to sort this out with his supervisor and he'll give me a call back again. That call did not happen and im not being unfair to ask for the money back when the chicken nor lamb was edible. The man on the phone was very polite and had great customer service skills, its a shame that the woman delivering was extremely rude and the food was terrible.

Just had a wonderful meal here. It's obviously more of a takeaway than a restaurant, but that said, the restaurant area was spotless, and the one member of staff was excellent. You need to take your own beer or wine, but the excellent food more than makes up for this small inconvenience.

We got takeaway, ordered & paid online. Firstly they accuse us of not paying, then telling us we are 10/15 minutes early to pick up. We wait when we collect the food 10 minutes later & drive home (less than 5 minutes drive up the road) we plate up and everything is stone cold! Rang but no answer! Why make us wait if nothing is going to be hot in that time.. from my perspective there was nothing we were actually waiting for to finish cooking, we was just waiting for the fun of it I guess? We ordered some onion bhaji they are the greasy, oil dripping off them & soft not crunchy like they would be if they were freshly cooked. No actual spice to the food, the mango chutney was spicer than the actual curry & mango chutney isn’t spice at all. To top it all off the staff was more worried about delivering food up the road than spending time in the restaurant… so disappointing, especially after been recommended this place over and over again (since we newly moved to the area). Unfortunately we won’t be returning here & I would NOT recommend this place!!

Didn’t even get to go. Called to book a table . Person who answered was abrupt, didn’t even want to take my name . Asked if there was any parking nearby. He answered with an Abrupt ‘no’ . Do they actually want customers?

Horrendous food. How do you make chicken Tikka biryani TASTELESS? The chicken was obviously just basic unseasoned chicken, and the biryani tasted like basic white rice! The chicken Tikka massala was no better by dousing their unseasoned chicken into tomato puree.

We really enjoyed our food here. It’s not at all pretentious, mainly serving a takeaway customer base, with only a handful of tables- like a curry version of a cafe. I was impressed with portion sizing of curries, and naan bread suitable to share. My daughter enjoyed her first eat out curry. We were staying locally on holiday, and wanted a no-nonsense curry house. This is what we got, we would definitely visit again. (4 star for atmosphere only because it’s not tarted up with elephants etc, it was fine for us). Thanks to the team there!

We stumbled across here at around 6pm and decided to give it a go….however, upon entering there was no radio/music or atmosphere. We did not feel welcome and the waiter was very rushed - we felt like they wanted us out quickly. It was disappointing because the food was nice - but I wouldn’t rush back, until they can work on their customer service. We were in and out in 40 mins…. Such a shame.

Never experienced a food outlet this bad. We had a takeaway that contained actual pieces of glass! On calling the restaurant to inform them the man was incredibly rude and did not care one bit. It has been reported to the appropriate channels but as someone who checks TripAdvisor reviews myself, I’d 100% recommend going elsewhere.

5 Mistakes made by Staff:: 1) We arrived before another couple, our order and food arrived second- Not professional 2) When our order was taken the waiter made a comment twice saying ‘Baby Food’- No respect for food we chose. 3) A young girl argued with a another member of staff whilst clearing a table- Not professional 4) Whilst we were all eating in the restaurant, there were 4 young members of staff plus our waiter all talking and shouting loudly like a bunch of school kids, behind the counter with no respect for their customers trying to eat in peace right near them - Not professional 5) The whole experience felt chaotic, with no soft background music, no calm and no ambiance, which I would expect from in a reputable Indian Restaurant. Over the years this restaurant has now changed its serving staff from professional, respectful waiters to young staff. But the food was nicely cooked and tasted delicious, thank goodness the original Chef was still on board to cook our meal and we enjoyed the food very much, which I would still highly recommend.

This place is an actual health hazard, concerns have been raised with environmental health. Male member of staff was also incredibly rude. If you don’t want to be very ill, use an alternative takeaway/restaurant.

I don’t know who the owner is but he should know this. His staff basically sat outside the restaurant drinking a beer and as we went to go in he turned me and my husband away from the door stating ‘we are fully booked go somewhere else.’ Don’t get me wrong we didn’t book a table however the restaurant was open and not one customer was inside so they could have accommodated us. It’s ok. We then went to Taj down the rd. The service was amazing. This review is not based on food but I want the owner to know his staffs attitude and that he lost out on a decent customer. I have my own restaurants and even when we are fully booked we are still polite and customer service is always there.

No sooner has one gone over the surprise at finding a very reasonably priced menu in these hard pressed times, than one is marveling at the excellent quality of the curry, tandoori and accompanying dishes available. An unpretentious, friendly and enthusiastic takeaway and restaurant, the Taste of India chefs are masters of the art and at the top of their game. My family and I have been hugely enjoying the curry and tandoori dishes prepared by the Taste of India for over 18 years and would undoubtedly rank the food as among the best in our experience. Keep up the good work guys, counting the days to our next visit!

Ordered a takeaway via the website which worked fine - food was delivered ahead of time and was delicious! Chicken Tikka Balti, Chicken Pacora and all the sides! Really tasty Would recommend and will return!

We enjoyed 2 great meals here during our weeks' holiday. Really lovely menu at great prices. We wish this was our local!

Ordered a curry for delivery discovered that we had the rice but no curry. Called the restaurant and was abruptly told to mention some guys name next time and they’ll give a discount then he hung up. No chance to get the curry we had already paid for and left us without a full meal! Ripped off! And very annoyed.

Very rude! Asked to speak with the owner and a member of staff put the phone down without even taking any details from me. I called back and someone else answered who was willing to let me speak to the owner. The other member of staff said no I know who it is.... took the phone and put it down saying they are closed tonight. If I was the owner of this resturant I would fire this person. Absolutely unprofessional and clearly isnt thinking about the owners reputation and best Interest!.

Awful food. Done a collection Monday night. Dead quite no reason for it to be tasteless cold food but so disappointed. Spent all night sick and all day today recover and more sick. Couldn’t be anything else as never ate anything all day. Called the doctor and confirmed food poisoning will now be taking case to Cornwall council

Not edible tonight, save you money or get a Chinese! Very very rude man on the phone who spoke to my wife extremely rudely when she called to explain there was a problem with the meal, he then HUNG UP ON HER. AVOID

I think the title explains it! We have used these guys for Take away and sit in meals for a while now, always been quite happy with the food but ordered tonight and waited over an hour (didn’t mint that as the food is usually worth the wait) however when we took the lids off it was like SOUP, it was soooo runny, tasteless and watery, there were huge chunks of Ginger floating around in it, the dishes we ordered are usually very thick and literally every dish was the same runny mess. Very unfulfilled and annoyed, over £40 spent and even the popadoms tasted nothing like they should, our Naan’s had what I can only explain as gritty bits in which we’re crunching between our teeth. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. YOU HAVE SADLY LOST VERY GOOD CUSTOMERS !!!

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant. Two starters, two mains, two rice, one bread and all for £35. It's great that you can take your own beer or wine with you. The service was efficient and friendly land the food was freshly prepared, good portion size and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Cheeky mid week date night and found this great Indian restaurant. Outstanding food and Outstanding service. Food fresh and very flavoursome. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

The food is really nice, probably the best indian restaurant I have seen so far, the menu is all Halal, like real Halal and the sauces are very tempting and tastefull, there is not a single flavour I didn't enjoy enough, I did loved everything they have served me and I will always come back to this place forever.

Fancied a curry and not had one before from anywhere in st austell. They had an item on which was a mango chicken dish. Ordered on there system, no issue. The whole meal had plenty of taste and hot. For speed we went and collected. Will go back here again.

I didn't enjoy this unfortunately, the grease leaked through the container, carrier bad and a heat bag and onto car seat, rice was very dry, not much to the curry and naab bread had this grit on it like it had been dropped on the beach, shame was looking forward to it

We have used the taste of India for years as I love the food , but last nights was exceptional, and I feel compelled to leave a review ! ! My Tava was so delicious I wanted more, and the rest of the family loved their dishes too . The staff are lovely too .. best take away Indian around x thank you

Possibly the worst Indian food we have ever eaten! This take away was recommended but it was a very disappointing meal. The “Deluxe menu” for 2 persons was anything but deluxe. Food arrived stone cold. The tandoori mixed grill had not been heated at all & the rest of the menu was tepid. The sauces hadn’t been mixed & there were different coloured blobs of sauce on top of the lamb & chicken. Had to heat everything in the oven for 20 minutes. Will know soon if they have poisoned us. 🥴

Well, always have left a great review. Tonight however our meal was disappointing! My sauce was weak and watery and we had to reheat as it was almost cold! Can only guess that they were really busy with a lot of deliveries for 8pm, although we placed our order earlier! Not giving up as it's always been suoerb in the past.

Hygiene is by terrible staff member goes to another country Comes back after ten days and he Comes Into work and starts coughing and spluttering all over the food we was a Delivery Dr river there and the attitude towards us has now made us give our job up the manager doesnt give a dam what goes on nobody listens and seems it won't ever get resolved

Came to the restaurant on the recommendation of the staff at the White Hart Hotel. It was a quiet Tuesday evening, the staff were super friendly and attentive. Genuinely one of the best currys I'd had in a long time (chicken dansak), the chef even popped out to say hello. Excellent restaurant, I would highly recommend it.

This restaurant/takeaway can be the best in St Austell. I cook Indian myself and am part of BIR groups. After some problems with missing meals over the last orders, I thought I would try them again. It was mentioned on ordering that I had had...

Absolutely aweful….such bad customer service and send incomplete orders….DO NOT ORDER from them!!!

Had food missing from my order. When I call I was put on hold while the gentleman working took orders from other customers. When back on the line he didn't apologise, denied the food missing, then acknowledge the driver had left it in the car. He refused to call the driver to get him to pop back with it. Told me there was nothing he could do and hung up! I call again got told to hold the line again and listened while he made fun with his colleague about leaving me hanging on the line, this went on for 4 minutes! Again when he came back to the phone refused any sort of remedy and hung up for a second time. Disgusting customer service!!! Shame as despite they are always late delivering, the food has always been good.

Ordered a chicken makhani and a lamb tikka masala with two portion rice, one of which was 3/4 full, the lamb was tough as old boots but worst of all the so called masala was nothing like a masala and had the same sweet sauce...
