The best restaurants in Buxted and Maresfield Wealden South East

Hanna made a fantastic two tier naked cake for our wedding day. I sent Hanna some pinterest images of the cakes I had in mind and she really delivered exactly the look I was hoping for! I had so many compliments from our guests. Not only did it look amazing but it also tasted incredible and I was eating cake for breakfast for a week after :) Really reasonably priced and great communication - would highly recommend Hanna.

I got married here over the weekend and WOW - what a day! This is the perfect venue to have your special day at, not only because the hotel and grounds are beautiful but the staff who run the day are absolutely fantastic. Gemma the wedding co ordinator was such a huge help in organising the day and always responded so quickly to emails and questions. Special thanks to Jack & toastmaster Phil who were outstanding and a key part to our day. Both of them helped the day run smoothly so myself & partner never had to worry about anything. They were so professional but friendly & they fitted right into the day perfectly. All the staff who looked after us were exceptional and it didn’t go unnoticed. Nothing is too much trouble and they made me feel like royalty for the day. The rooms and communal areas are clean to a high standard and all of our guests had a lovely stay. The food and breakfast were delicious, high quality and hot! All our guests commented on how lovely it all tasted. We had a wonderful time here. I’d 10000% recommend it if you’re looking for a wedding venue. We can’t wait to return to enjoy the venue again and reminisce.

Went there for ‘lunch’ today and was served tiniest fruit scone I have ever seen, which crumbled as soon as I attempted to spread the cream on it. Actually, I didn’t need to spread the cream, as it was very runny. If I go there again I’ll make sure I eat first.

We stayed just one night and selected the location as it was close to Buxted Park and within a short drive of Ardingly Showground. The room was alright, could have done with better lighting, but otherwise good. We had dinner downstairs in the bar which was a bit quieter once all the children had left! The only downer was the breakfast and which wasn’t included n the room price and was a little uninspired.

One of the best pubs in the area for an upmarket meal in a restaurant filled with character. Great food and a kids menu The owners seriously rock and the atmosphere reflects that. The whole decor has been transformed at the start of January and looks extravagantly glorious ... Sing Hosanna ... Sing

Went to the steak night with some reservations. £10 for a steak chips and salad. Surprisingly delicious, I have paid so much more for lesser meals. Well done the Ringles Cross

After searching for a place that serves food later in the evening we came across the white heart,on entry we were a little surprised with the cost of £25 for a roast,now I would like to add I have no problem spending money on food but it seemed a bit punchy on price,but being hungry we decided to put that to one side,we both ordered the roast beef,it said that it came with cauliflower cheese so thought that might make up for the price as usually they charge extra. But when it arrived,the beef was over cooked,we had pretty much no cauliflower cheese and the only veg on my plate was a pile of mange tout and literally nothing else! We were asked if the food was ok,which I was honest and said I was disappointed with the lack of veg,due to the fact it’s exceptionally cheap,bearing in mind we had a roast in Brighton only two weeks ago which was full of veg and the beef lovely and pink for £17 I feel sadly this is incredibly over priced for what you get.

Handy. But too close to the ashdown forest. Stop building everywhere.

The service tonight was terrible Poured our own wine which was not chilled when it arrived at the table with apologies from the wine waiter Had to ask for water Struggled to get attention of the staff despite only two tables being served All in all a poor service and reluctantly paid a 50 pound tip inc in the bill Should do better Food was ok and he or she deserved a tip Important family time and not the right time to complain on the night !!!!

We absolutely love the Crow & Gate and have always had a fantastic meal whenever we visit. Popped in on bank holiday Monday. Service was great - thanks Sophie. And the food was lovely

Hi everyone this restaurant was alright. The really frustrating point of this restaurant is the drive through gets extremely busy. I waited for nearly half an hour to get my food ordered. Another time it was so busy that I couldn’t bet bothered to get any food so had to go to the shell garage opposite and get sandwiches instead. Service was polite. There was parking there again busy. Would benefit from another drive through lane and faster service

Olde worlde atmosphere, very friendly staff, nice food, good rooms. Good selection of drinks, excellent breakfast choices, freshly cooked
