The best restaurants in Buxted and Maresfield Wealden South East

My husband and I used a gift for a champagne afternoon tea at Buxted Park Hotel but were left a little dissappointed. I probably wouldn't recomend or return. We were quite disappointed with the experience in general. Being pregnant I asked for an alternative to the champagne, perhaps an elderflower fizz but this seemed to confuse the waitor. I did eventually get elderflower and sparkling water but the drama of explaining the situation left me a little tense. The sandwich selection was quite poor. When asked if we had any dietry requirements, I asked for no mustard on my ham sandwich to which the waitor said, not a problem. Received no ham sandwich at all but an extra chesse one, so I had two cheese, one chicken and stuffing and one salmon. They were all quite dry and very small as cut in to long rectangles. Not really what I'd expect for the cost! Cakes also a little boring, no macrons despite their cream tea advertising/menu displaying one. We had a choice of a mince pie, christmas cake, (neither of which we like - quite an acquired taste) shortbread and a brownie. Scones overcooked and dry, got given a tiny ramekin of cream to share which was just enough for one half of my scone, we had to ask for another two pots!! Having a really sweet tooth, it was a bit of a let down. Nice views, dining room and a nice ambience to the place. Cream tea at East Sussex National much better in my opinion!

Food and drink fine but don't drop in if you are walking your dog. I live alone with my dog and I like to take her a Jack Russell with me. I often go into cafes and pubs with my dog but Costas do not allow dogs.

Cannot recommend this McDonalds. The ony available tables were filthy, and we had to find a member of staff to clean them, which doesnt seem to be part of their routine. We ordered food, which took 13 minutes to arrive, so hardly fast food. When we finished the 2 rubbish bins were totally full and overflowing, and were only emptied when someone else asked. Out of courtesy I told the manager of our concerns: she couldnt have been less interested.
