The best restaurants in Olney Milton Keynes South East

Last minute decision to pop in on a busy Friday night. We had dogs so sat in the covered outside space. Great wine. Great food. Great service.

From the moment Courtney Reifel stepped into her role as the Executive Director for Fountain Court Assisted Living we knew that the residents would truly be cared for. It is is very clear that she takes to heart each and every resident's personal story and uniques need, and strives to go above and beyond to meet those needs. For Courtney it's not about filling a bed but rather, how can she assist in giving her residents a happy and vibrant life. Courtney looks at all of her residents as her own family member and it shows in the care. Our family was very grateful that she found her way to Maple Valley and hopes that she will enjoy a long career here as Executive Director!

A real hidden gem! Tucked away down the small shopping alley this is a friendly and welcoming restaurant, offering so much more than you’d expect. There’s plenty of tables inside but the treat is securing one outside, with a number being sheltered from the rain too. The menu is huge, offering everything from small bites to full meals, from the basic to the more sophisticated. The hot drinks are served in large mugs and the service is spot on. Service time with the food wasn’t bad either considering how busy it was, and the steak baguette was well cooked with warm bread, and the ideal size for a lunch time snack. A fantastic place and I’d highly recommend to anyone, whatever size meal you’re looking for, or even just for a relaxing drink!

We held our daughter's birthday meal here yesterday and I cannot thank the team enough for the amazing service, wonderful and delicious food and fantastic atmosphere. We descended on them in a chaotic whirlwind of 13 children and about 10 adults and our every need was catered for. We thank you for hosting us, for putting up with our chaos and for making the meal and experience so special. Cannot recommend enough! ☺️

Roast lamb was very nice and a very big portion

We decided to book a family Diwali meal which was booked over the phone. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely waiter who took us to our table. The tables were separated which we were a little annoyed about as this was not mentioned before. Another waiter came out and abruptly told us to be seated so we can order our starters. I explained we were waiting for one more family to arrive. Within minutes the same waiter came and said exactly the same thing! I was quite shocked and to be honest we should have left at that point. The rest of the family members arrived and a nice waiter took our orders. The food came out and dishes were mostly different however they had the same sauce and tasteless. Curries had big chunks of green chillies. The chicken curry was awful. The portions were small. We went on to order desserts but were given one menu between 14 of us! After a few minutes past, the same rude waiter appeared and asked us to order our desserts now as they need the tables. This was the icing on the cake for us, we paid the bill and left without ordering desserts. This is not how you treat paying customers. On top of that, the food is not great at all and we are shocked with these high rating reviews. Shocking service, shocking food and shocking communication. The only good thing was the young waiter that treated is with respect. I wouldn’t bother people with this place, we will stick to where we know!

Out of the blue, the owners of this fabulous restaurant have decided to retire and the Old Shanghai won’t be getting any older under their management. So it was that a large number of regulars managed to get a table booked to give them and their extended family (including 2 grandchildren – part of the decision to retire, I suspect) a good sendoff. Usual great service, usual great experience but sadly, for the last time. I think the majority of diners were ordering one of the festive meals and no point is commenting on the food as the restaurant closed when the last person left. From all in Olney and surrounding area, Alan and Mei, have a great, long and happy retiral - you will be missed.

A nice place/pit stop for lunch, especially on a Saturday full of shopping and pottering about. The place does get busy so pick your time wisely. Lovely place, friendly staff and great options on the menu. Would return. I just think they could improve their restroom facilities.

We are regulars here and the food and service are terrific. The ambience is very nice with a location set off the main road in a pleasant courtyard. Highly recommended!

Came for Sunday lunch, lovely tender beef, nicely cooked vegetables, home cooked roast potatoes which were crispy, crispy Yorkshire pudding and everything hot. In a lovely old pub friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

I had the pleasure of having a Sunday roast dinner last weekend with my family. I can honestly say, we all agreed , it was the best we have had in a very long time. I pride myself on producing a great Sunday roast, but this equalled it. I believe the pub has been taken over by new management recently and if they keep up this standard of food, their popularity can only go one way.

Arrived and asked the server if they were still serving breakfast, they were unsure and had to ask a colleague (breakfast is advertised as an option). I was seated and waited for my breakfast. When my breakfast arrived, there was no butter for the toast, also missing was salt and pepper or the offer of any. On the plus side the breakfast was ok but nothing special.

Excellent place to enjoy a wide variety of hot drinks, especially coffees. Good choice of cakes and snacks to go with it, as well as some interestingly tempting lunches. Unfortunately, the tables were not clean, but this was dealt with on request (though it should happen without that). Overall, the taste of the delicious coffee made up for it.

Food amazing atmosphere lovely staff couldn’t fault even the price we went for a birthday treat and we definitely will be coming again

Sunday Lunch for Mum's Birthday Lovely atmosphere in the pub/restaurant as you enter a lovely open fire going. The whole team were very welcoming and our waitress was lovely, taking orders and ensuring we had everything we needed. Mum had her white wine on the house which was a lovely touch Starters arrived promptly and were clearly freshly cooked the tempura prawns and whitebait hit delicious. For mains 3 of us had slow cooked brisket of beef with all the trimmings, the meat just fell apart and was so succulent, the roasted potato's were crunchy and then fluffy inside the seasonal veg were perfection!! Absolute top class food beautiful surroundings and atmosphere
