Another lovely evening in the Cherry Tree thanks in many ways to the friendliness of the staff and the quality of food. The building is beginning to lose some of its shine, however and if the owners aren't careful, it could lose its appeal too. Always popular and certainly one of the better restaurants in a town which has superb eating places, this time my wife had the vegan Lamb style mousaka which she drooled over and gave it an absolutely delicious tag. I, on the other hand, had the porchetta which was very tasty and served with a good range of freshly cooked veg. Prices still reasonable for many of their dishes but I do feel that their steaks are over priced compared to other outlets. Still up there with the best of them for a small town.

A wonderful find of a Gastro pub in a beautiful village on the border of Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes? I'm told it's also where the pancake race was invented. Be sure to book ahead, it gets busy. The food was delicious and the portions were generous, calamari was the one off note in an otherwise fantastic lunch

Fabulous welcome and such a splendid place to spend a couple of hours. Spaced out, comfortable and interesting. I follow a vegan diet and there were some interesting dishes to choose from, but too many with beetroot for my taste.

Lovely place for quick drink, while sat there watching the food come out made me hungry, food looks exceptional, so next time I'll be dinning and I'll report back 😋

Superb all round..well worth a visit

Disappointing as only prepared one of the main courses ordered.By the time they offered to cook the missed order my wife had nearly finished her mains so refused and did not end up with the meal I had ordered Young very pleasant staff but inexperienced and for the bill to include a 10% service charge was totally inappropriate , as was the request to vote for them in the food awards -difficult when they did not serve the meal ordered. Management need to step up and be aware of their customer offering Will not be rushing to go back

I’ve given this a three star as the restaurant itself , the staff and the ambience was perfect. Very busy but the serving staff were fabulous. Onto the food, the gambas pil pil was full of flavour and eight big juicy prawns - delicious Other starters were average at best Chicken Caesar salad had a tough portion of chicken, the porchetta and fish and chips were excellent. I had fillet steak which at £39 with a pot of sauce , pot of chips few tomatoes and rocket was poor value. The steak had zero flavour, little seasoning and had not been rested - cooked well but blood pouring out onto the plate. I can honestly say it was one of the worst steaks I’ve tried - I left most and brought it home for the dog. Four starters four mains two desserts One small coke two bottles of water one pint beer Vodka and mixer One bottle of wine £250 Won’t be returning

Table was wonky. Service is very slow, ordered a steak well done “- it came out BLACK. I couldn’t even cut it. Told the manager- wasn’t interested. Charged us full price. Won’t be retuning

Over priced. Uninspiring and limited choices for veggies. Dreadful food hygiene by kitchen staff. Friendly and helpful service staff. Have been for lunch and liked it - though expensive. This time went for evening meal. Some bread and olives to share - 1 portion of each was £12!!! The vegetarian choice was limited and uninspiring- moussaka or pasta with mushroom. One of our group had the moussaka. Summary “wouldnt order that again” - tasted odd. Another ordered a Barnsley lamb chop from the specials board. Received a huge bone with a little bit of meat and plenty of fat. A Barnsley lamb chop is a double chop and should be the size and shape of a large steak. This was 70% bone. Complained and they took it off the bill. Which is good but meant that effectively they had a few side vegetables for dinner. Another had fish and chips which was fine. Sticky toffee pudding was basically toffee flavoured sponge - no dates. But the worst was that after we had eaten we watched one of the kitchen staff pause from their work, blow their nose, and then carry on kneading pizza without washing their hands. Saw two other staff members wife their hands across their nose without washing their hands. If we had seen that before we ordered we would have left immediately.

I do not know the names of our servers but it was my 50th birthday and I was given a free birthday pudding which was literally the BEST chocolate pudding I’ve ever eaten!!! I was made to feel extremely special and welcome. the food and service was exceptional, we had a lovely evening and cannot express how much we enjoyed our meal. the service made my birthday meal fabulous thank you so much, if in the area again we will definitely return thank you

I wanted to sit at a table outside, but unfortunately I was put off because the table had not been cleared; plates with left food, glasses, napkins...debris. Walked away to view other places, returned after some time to the Cherry Tree, the table that we could have occupied was still in the same condition after 45 minutes....A very poor show!!! Doesn't inspire me to return.

Visited for Sunday lunch when there was an event in the market square. Our waitress was very friendly and the roast dinner was excellent. It’s a little pricey, but worth it based on the location and quality of food. Recommended.

First time visiting here with friends on a Saturday evening. Loved to look and feel of the venue and a good selection of dishes both on the menu and daily specials. Service was good and very helpful when we wanted more information on a particular menu item. Our group ordered a range of items for starters including the chorizo flatbread, baked feta, and smoked salmon, all of which was excellent. Stand out dish was Moroccan spice lamb which was on the specials board and was very good. Will definitely visit again soon as there were still a number of things on menu I wanted to try.

Amazing food, Courtney and Brandmon was amazing. Also the Chef well (insert f word) done, the food was Spectacular.

Booked this for our son’s Birthday, he is totally Vegan as the Cherry Tree has a good Vegan choice >. All the food was perfect, however the service was a total let down. The restaurant was not overly busy with only 3 waiters. The starters came out relatively quick but the mains came out 3/4 hour later, plus having to ask for an another drink rather than our waiter asking us is really not how it should be!. Would we return ? Yes but don’t expect good old fashioned service. Unfortunately the bill came with 10% automatically added on, of which the waitress removed it after me complaining.

Exceptional, from start to finish.! The restaurant looked bright, attractive and welcoming. Service was cheerfully professional throughout and the food was perfect - which was no surprise when, thanks to the "open kitchen", we saw how busy the kitchen team were , none more so than the hard-working head chef at the centre of it all! Our party of 4 hungry adults left the Cherry Tree feeling very full and very happy!

Staff very welcoming and provide friendly service. Chose a chicken dish which took 20 mins to cook which proved that it was fresh. Lots of choice for gluten free deserts.

Perfectly edible food, and pleasantly drinkable alcoholic beverages

We had a really excellent meal here last Friday night. As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Our waitress Nancy was really professional and very well trained. She was courteous, friendly and looked excellent in her outfit and makeup. Our drinks order was taken and we had plenty of time to look at the very extensive menu. The food arrived promptly and we all enjoyed our choices, which were all excellently cooked and presented. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely return again in the future.

Lovely atmosphere, fast service, and great food!

We arrived for a dinner booking as a family of four (a six yeah old and a baby) and ordered a drinks at the bar. We both had a Bloody Mary and as the lad put the celery in my drink I noticed the top of the stalk was brown and crusty and the celery was a bit on the floppy side. I asked if I could swap for a fresher piece which he did. We paid for our drinks (almost £30) and sat at the table at which point I noticed my partners celery was also crusty and floppy. I took it over to the bar and put it on the bar mat to wait for his attention and said “sorry could I swap this one for a fresh piece too please?” He replied “it is fresh I’ve just cut it off” signalling at the celery still whole, unwashed and out of the packet just behind him. I said “yes it’s freshly cut but it’s not fresh celery, the top is brown and it’s all floppy. Is there a fresher piece at all?” With that he picked it up off the bar, turned around, grabbed the knife, cut the top bit off and spun round and handed it back to me and said “there you go”. Baring in mind this had just been sat on the dirty bar where everyone’s drinks are put down. I looked at him quite stunned and said “you know what it’s okay” and went back to my family. I find that really poor service given the fact we’d just spent £27 on a couple of drinks and were about to spend £200 odd in the restaurant on dinner, a washed and fresh piece of celery was too much to ask. He made me feel embarrassed for asking and I found his manner and tone extremely rude. We decided not to have our dinner there and out of courtesy I let the lady (I think perhaps the manager) in the restaurant know that we wouldn’t be staying for our dinner reservation. She asked why and I explained what had happened. She was apologetic and agreed that’s not good service. She took my email and said she would be in touch the next day but I’ve still not heard anything. Ultimately, if you can’t ensure your produce going into drinks is clean and fresh when it’s uncooked and displayed under people’s noses I dread to think what produce is being used in the kitchen, disguised by cooking it, sauces etc.

It’s gone downhill over the last six months since my last visit for dinner. Menu offers less choice with more pasta dishes than before & fillet steak no longer offered. Prices are much higher, particularly drink & be aware of the 10% service charge added to the bill which one should check carefully as I was charged for food I didn’t order. That was resolved quickly but not before talking to two members of staff which was awkward in front of others. Pasta dishes looked unappealing but there was plenty of it. Apple pie was more of a raisin strudel with a couple of apple chunks in it. Sadly, not good & £130 better spent elsewhere.

It's a very lovely pub. It's a little pricey, but a really nice atmosphere and good outside space. A nice touch in the ladies to have free tampons and pads on the table for those unexpected surprises. They weren't taking walks ins for food when we went, so I'd suggest ringing to book or ask if they're accepting walking before you go if food is what you're looking for.

Lovely staff and great food has a wonderful atmosphere and calm feeling highly recommend great for young children.

We had my daughter’s 30th birthday meal at the pub and hired the function room. Can not fault the pub, the service, the staff were extremely polite and really helpful. They also made sure we had the same staff for night, the food was amazing not one complaint from anyone. For the 5 star service we received with their being 28 of us it was worth every penny and highly recommended

We only had drinks but such a beautiful place, dog friendly and wonderful coffee after a walk, will definitely be returning again soon.

I'm really very upset. Prior to this experience, my family and friends, at my invitation, have eaten at the Cherry Tree in Olney many times, spent a lot and enjoyed the experience. On this spur of the moment occasion my wife and I wanted some cheap and cheerful grub with a drink or two and thought a pizza would do. The Cherry Tree did a two for one offer before, during half-term, but I thought to phone and check beforehand whether the offer was on. The answer was positive, so I booked for 20 mins time. In short, when we were seated and ready to order, the man in charge refused to honour our booking under the agreed terms. I told him that I'd never return if he insisted and that I considered his action was tantamount to a breach of implied contract. But he wouldn't budge and didn't care. So we left, never to go to the Cherry Tree while he was there. Shame, we liked the place.

Food not as good as it has been, Sunday roast was not great quality. Bit dry and tough.

My food was very tasty. My wife said hers had too much garlic. Both meals we're pricey but that is to be expected at a place like this in a place like this. Service was good but the manager seemed to be nagging one of the waitresses (do your managing at the back of house). This took away from the atmosphere. There was no misic playing but it was nice to hear the buzz of the other patrons.

Visited on a very busy mother's day, service and food were amazing. Thank you for making our breakfast feel special.

Had a lovely Sunday Roast here. Service was a little slow but it was very late afternoon otherwise it was very enjoyable.

Have been a regular customer for several years now, lovely surroundings and usually excellent food, however, we visited this Sunday as a family treat ( 7 adults ) and the food was disappointing, the beef was tough, gristly and had very little taste, the pork was pork belly rather than a joint and was mostly fat, the base of the Yorkshire puddings were not fully cooked and had an oily taste, the best thing on the plate was the roast potatoes which were delicious. One of our party opted for the roast half chicken, which was excellent, leaving the rest of us wishing we had chosen the same. Thankfully the puddings were good, but all in all we were all very disappointed, think it will be the Bull hotel in future.

Lunchtime midweek party of 4 … Dirty sticky table with fruit flies flying around. Waited 45mins for food, arrived with vegetables missing on cod of loin, roast chicken ordered not cooked enough. Very disappointed with the food and very overpriced. Service poor, our food left waiting on the counter to be served hence it was only luke warm when it arrived. Will definitely not be returning.

This is a note to advise you when ordering food at the bar, please check your order and payment details are correct. If incorrect and you are overcharged they are unable to reimburse you without waiting for 2 weeks to be sent back to your account! (As was the case with our most recent experience)!

The pancakes were amazing. However, service was a bit slow on that day. I guess Pancake Day was a busy day. I would definitely recommend this place.

Excellent food. We popped in for a light snack/sandwich, the items on the menu weren't exactly what we wanted, but the chef was brilliant and made us a really tasty chicken salad panino sandwich. This was late afternoon and a bit quieter, so not something "off menu" that they would be able to do if they are busy. The waiting staff were really friendly and efficient too.

Had a fantastic evening here at the Cherry Tree last night. Was served by a lovely bartender called Tilley who was nothing short of fantastic. She served us with a smile, spoke to us as she made our drinks and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was delightful and we enjoyed a music-filled, nicely lit dinner after our initial drinks. We were only in Olney for the night but if we were to ever come back - we’d be barrelling straight back to the Cherry Tree, hopefully to see Tilley again! Loved it!

First time of eating here. Pleasant surroundings. Our waitress was lovely, however the table service was VERY slow. Had to remind waitress that we had not received our wine and one of our party had to leave before her hot chocolate, which never arrived.

One of my favourite restaurants near Milton Keynes. Not the cheapest though but worth it

Visited the place for lunch, as it had good reviews. Big mistake: the simplest meal, a burger: super salty with black burned bacon. Overall- tasteless. Salad with yellow lettuce and fridge cold eggs. On top, everything was overpriced. Mentioned it to the waitress who...couldn't care less. I'm not sure for what people leave good reviews. That burnt bacon shouldn't have left the kitchen at all.

Wonderful menu, plenty of choice, great range for veggies&other dietary needs. Very good service from Helen, our friendly server. Our mains of Eggs Funghi and Shushaki were superb, so tasty and copious! We also had yummy, chilli Halloumi fried. Good coffee and drinks. Mini desserts are a brilliant idea&the warmed Pastel del Nata delicious! Helen was so attentive throughout and even took a picture of our celebration meal for us!It was my birthday treat from my good friend, whose own birthday was last week! Nice vibe there and comfortable, not noisy or too crowded either. We will definitely return and bring with us friends&family. My 1st time there, but not my friend's! Great menu choices and some nice food, although some details are occasionally missed.... chunky chips not properly cooked through, dripping wet spinach, small fish for price.... That said, is definitely worth a visit.

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived but we're given free drinks as a sorry. All staff were very welcoming, friendly. Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was very busy so not surprised. The food was excellent. Would highly recommend, even on a busy day.

Disappointed with our visit on Tuesday 11th , service very slow - took almost 3 hours for 2 courses. ( 4 people) No water delivered to table when seated and a long while for order to be taken and served. Had no call back to check food .ordered gammon with chunky chips but was served with skinny fries! It’s a shame , very disappointed since our last visit .

Food itself is tasty and its great they are dog friendly. However service was a mess. We came for breakfast and 2 of 3 dishes ordered arrived incorrectly, one dish forgotten, and coffee and tea arrived 15 minutes after food. Asked 3 times for missing item and was told it was coming - never did- had to ask for them to remove it from the bill. seemed to be a combination of staff shortages and poor management, as staff themselves seemed to be trying their best.

Went today for lunch, my friend had the fish and chips and I had the gammon. Our server, Olly, was very polite, knowledgeable and very helpful, a real credit to the restaurant. Will definitely visit The Cherry Tree again.

While since being back to the cherry tree. Noteably the service was poorer probably due to staff shortages. Was with a party of six and everyone enjoyed their meals. Had two vegans we with us. Prices have increased and stakes are far too expensive in my opinion. The olive oil provided was of poor quality and bread also dry. My meal, pasta with creamy sauce, was very nice though server could of provided a spoon. In all it's a great place to eat but is slipping a bit on the service and quality side, and being pricy.

Food and service in general is well below what it should be. Food is overpriced especially there Caesar salad. If you want value for money definitely go somewhere else.

20 minutes for drinks to be served, 1 hour for cold food to arrive, then even longer for it to be fixed. Worst service I’ve received in years.

Went to the Cherry Tree in Only on 27th Aug’23 after previously visiting there and was very disappointed. I believe it was a manager who child was at the restaurant, they kept coming over to say hello to my little boy which was fine, but then we was eating dinner and at no point did the lady tell the child to leave us to eat, until I asked the waiters to find the parent and ask them to get their child. My son barely ate as every time he went to, the little girl come over and distracted him, which was extremely frustrating when we have come out for a family dinner. My partner come home and has had an upset stomach all evening. We will not be returning

Very very slow service, 35min to get a 1st drink!

Harvey was very helpful and friendly. He gave quick and efficient service. Harvey checked in on us to see if we were happy with our food and to see if we ever needed any more drinks. Thank you also to the rest of the cherry tree team for delivering a lovely dining experience. The food was fantastic and drinks were served very soon after being ordered. Will be coming back as per usual and will be recommending as I always do!

A lovely restaurant with a great menu but we were really disappointed with the lack of staff which resulted in a lack of decent service. Very slow to take even a drinks order, slow with food and extremely slow to clear. We were sat with uncleared plates for ages after both the staters and mains which wasn’t pleasant. When a venue such as this charges a fair whack you expect a decent service. Our waitress was lovely but was under huge pressure due to how busy it was so maybe the management could staff it accordingly. Our experience was for a friend’s big birthday and we were bitterly disappointed.
