Delicious authentic Thai food tucked away in a quaint corner of olney. Extremely attentive staff, good service and fantastic vegetarian and vegan options. Will most definitely be back!

Hidden gem! This place serves some of the best Thai I've ever had. Recommend the masaman curry (delicious), pad Thai (also amazing). The vegi spring rolls were yum too. So good! Will be back as often as my waist line and wallet will allow. We got take away hence no raiting for atmosphere.

We had our first take away from here, and were very impressed. We had red curry and massaman curry (both veggie options) and it tasted great. Came with rice too, which was good value. Ordered thai crackers too. We will be back/order again.

The worst Thai food I've ever had. I could do better, I have done better and I'm no chef. Lazy chef, the spring rolls and Thai fish cakes I believe are shop brought. Everything too sweet and salty. Service was good, although I can't remember the last time I dined out and wasn't asked how my meal was. Won't be going back, and I'm a local. Nothing authentic about this Thai food.

Fantastic delivery, was super fresh and hot, food was amazing, the Thai prawn cakes were super lush as were the salt and pepper spare ribs. I had beef in Oyster sauce for main but asked them to spice it up🌶️ They did not disappoint. Lush🌶️👍🇹🇭🍜

I think this restaurant opened approx 3 years ago, and for some unknown reason we took our time making our first visit to Amphawan, pleasantly surprised and vowed to return. There is an extensive menu which should satisfy anybody for choice. The food we had was very well presented, of very good quality, and reasonably priced, the drinks were also reasonably priced. If in doubt try it.

Amazing experience, staff are lovely, meals served really quick. Only downside was that we were the only people there, shame really as it deserves more customers.

Wow! Why is this place not packed to the rafters every night? The food is truly authentic Thai. I struggle to find this standard of Thai food outside of Thailand. We went freestyle not set menu which was awesome. Every dish delicious. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and we had some laugh out loud moments. Excellent value too. If this restaurant was situated in a busier place it would be packed every night. I wouldn’t mind being the only diners in there midweek. They should market it as private dining experience. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you for a fantastic evening. We’ll be back.

Hubby and I were staying in Olney and Thai is my favourite food. Booked for dinner. We selected the set menu B which was delicious, every course was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was charming and perfect. Would highly recommend...

Very impressed with the food and service. The lunch menu was really good value at £10 for a starter, main and a drink. They accommodated our 3 year old son by cooking some suitable noodle dish for him. The curry was extremely tasty, clean plates all round.

We went on a Sunday evening and were the only diners !Having said that we were well looked after and the food was simply great. Lots of choice and variety. It was all beautifully cooked and presented. We would certainly return and hopefully find a better atmosphere with more diners.

We went here for our wedding anniversary, oh dear what a mistake. We should have turned back when we saw no one in the restaurant.For the duration of the dinner we remained the only ones there for a Friday night now I know why. The food was inedible and by the second course having sent the first back we refused to stay paying only for our drinks.The food was not fresh , vegetable tempura were cooked in old oil the vegetables were old and mushy. The chicken had clearly been cooked earlier and had gone hard, then served in a sauce so it was so tough it could not be eaten. The tofu was rock hard and the noodles were a plate of slop with 6 prawns that had been boiled on the outside of the plate. I am amazed the restaurant is still going, terrible.

Little Thai restaurant, hidden away from the main street. Had soup, noodles and a main, all very tasty and nice and spicy too! Not sure why they have negative reviews, but the food was great and I'm a harsh critic!

Hi I was in here last night with my Thai wife and friends the place was small but nice the staff are friendly along with the chef the food was excellent and at a very cheap price we will be defenatly be coming back again

We had takeaway and unfortunately the food was only average. Although some dishes were tasty, But I was very disappointed in the Tom Yam soup. I’ve been in Thailand and tried Tom Yam there and it was always amazing. In this place it is absolutely disgusting (very vinegary, without many of the original ingredients, awful brown color.) The service was friendly and the price reasonable but for me this soup (which went down the sink) spoiled my meal. Not sure I would recommend it for anyone 😔

I can't believe there are so many negative comments about this place. Alright the restaurant isn't ALL THAT flash, but its conformable and clean... and perhaps the 1st floor is better than downstairs. However, the food is the star of the show. If you're NOT about the food and want some pompous, 'wana be Mich'lin', style over substance place to show off a RangeRover key fob... then don't go here. If you want tasty, good value in an unpretentious atmosphere with friendly service then this is the place for you. It's also cracking for takeaway

Have been here for takeaway 3 times now. Each time I’ve always thought the food has been very good. Much better than most other Thai in the surrounding areas.

Excellent food served in a very atmospheric setting

This really is a very nice restaurant and the food IS extremely good. Having spent a lot of time visiting the Far East on business and thoroughly enjoying the local cuisines I am often disappointed with what is served in UK Asian restaurants.

Why would you go here? The restaurant downstairs is like sitting in someones living room its really bright and not at all welcoming. When it used to be upstairs it was quite pleasant so I am not sure why it needs to be just the room downstairs now. Apart from that the food is just edible nothing nice or tasty. Everything we had was a bit congealed like it had just been pre-cooked and warmed up. The service is a little lacking - to be fair it was the middle of the week and no-one else was in the restaurant so the lady seemed a little bored. For all of its faults if it was really good Thai food we could forgive everything else but its not we won't be going back.

Good for takeaways. Downstairs restaurant is quite small. And also served small portion sizes.

We really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The dishes were well cooked, hot and tasty. The staff were attentive and authentic. The only downside is that the tables are rather 'hemmed in' together. You feel like you are sharing with the table next to you and it can get very hot and stuffy. Such a shame because previously, other restaurants on these premises have used the upstairs as the restaurant - much more roomy. This Thai restaurant has decided to cram all the dining tables into what used to be the bar area for the restaurant upstairs!

Just moved into the area and thought my wife and I would go out for dinner Friday night to this restaurant as we loved thai food.

A meal that evokes the memories of Thailand, that's how authentic it was. The ingredients and sauces used were of the highest quality. Real finesse with no nasty MSG after taste. They were happy to adjust the spice according to our individual party preference and delivered a great great meal. Highly recommend the Tom Yum soup!! We had the prawn version where the prawn was almost as large as the bowl!

Great food - the set meals are brilliant value

This was an impromptu visit, walked by, decided it looked nice, so decided to give it a try, really pleased we did. Starter, main and a drink for £9. 99. Great food and good service.

The best Thai we have had. We try to eat here once a month and the food never disappoints us! Great chef and Pat is the perfect host.

We were looking forward to going to the restaurant, but we were a little disappointed, staff were polite, but their English was a bit lacking! We had starters each, but girl was not sure which was which! So we had to decide ourselves, and it was a little disappointing. After that the mains dishes arrived, and that was ok, and we had decent portions. They only serve bottle beer, and it was quite expensive.

Only my second visit to this restaurant and a great experience last time was bettered this time round.

We booked here for a table of four on a Saturday night. In reality we needn't have booked because there were plenty of spare tables.

Friendly service, great food, well priced. Extensive menu of Thai and other Eastern cuisine (but mostly Thai).

Have used the Amphawan four times in the last 6 months, twice to eat-in and twice for takeaways. So now feel well experienced with what the restaurant offers! And have been very pleased with every meal. Always very tasty and flavoursome; always extremely well presented and good sized portions. Very good value. My only "criticism" is that the menu choice is enormous! So much to choose from! But that's just more incentive to return to try something else next time!

We sat upstairs and were with a larger group celebrating a birthday. The service was excellent... we did the starter/main and pudding. Food was good and tasty but I just wanted it to be a bit lighter.... the soup was a bit sweet and creamy. My greeen curry again was a bit too creamy. I'm vegetarian and there were plenty of options.

Had a meal last night for 5 Food was excellent plus really good value for money. Go for the set meals at the back of the menu these are good value.

Food ok but service really slow. No real passion about what they were doing I felt we were just another punter that needed to be fed and watered.

Five of us had THE most delicious meal at Amphawan on Saturday night. The food was second to none and the staff and service a delight. Very highly recommended if you like Thai cuisine.

The addition of a Thai restaurant in our town is a welcome one. Quick friendly service, great variety on the menu all the Thai favorites plus some other Asian dishes. The beef Penang and jungle curry are fantastic. My advice is book a table upstairs to avoid noise from the kitchen and those collecting take aways. I've eaten here around 30 times since they opened and the food has always been excellent. The owner chef and staff all came from another reputable Thai restaurant and the food continues to be good. Car park is small so my advice park in the market square.

Staff friendly and polite, have eaten both in the restaurant and take away and both delcious! Particularly the Green Curry! They make a 'mean' gin and tonic also!

This is a very nice restaurant. I have been going once a month for some time. I like the people who cook and serve. I think it is a family run business. The food is good and the atmosphere excellent.

Absolutely loved the peanut chicken on a skewer - the sauce was definately homemade, fabulously chunky peanut sauce. Lovely evening - looking forward to popping in again this weekend.

My husband and I have just had a lovely meal. Excellent quality, up to date environment and outstanding service. So pleased to have a high quality Thai restaurant so close to home. We will be back including special occasions like birthday celebrations.

First visit since this new restaurant opened and have heard of the improvements as the new people gained experience.

I ate here with a friend a couple of weeks ago. Had never been before but another friend had recommended it. The service was lovely, food was amazing. I tend to just drink water when going out to dinner and sometime restaurants don't like that but they didn't batter an eyelid and kept refilling my water glass throughout my meal. Definitely going back.

Very nice first time here. Lovely decor and very clean. We were only diners at the time but it was only 6.30 on Sunday eve. Food was very nice and good portions. Thai coconut mushroom soup was beautiful- definitely order this again. Would like to try again when busier to see if quality of service remains

We went for our 3rd meal (26 July 2016) since it opened. We were very sceptical as the reviews to date have not been good but thought it would be worth another try as we love Thai food. We were not disappointed, everything was superb. The food, service, staff, look and feel of the restaurant was second to none. The portion sizes were plenty, unlike the small portions we were served when we first went. The food was amazing and prices were very good. They over-heard us saying that it was my boyfriend’s birthday and so brought out an ice cream cake which was a lovely gesture. All in all we think they had "teething" problems initially but they're now over that hurdle and making amazing food with an equally amazing service. So if in doubt please give them a try you will not be disappointed. Well done Amphawan and thank you.

Ate here last week to celebrate my son's graduation. We had a lovely meal - good food and plenty of it. Can only compare to the only other time have had a Thai meal and the small criticism I have is that the presentation could have been better. Service was good and the girls serving very friendly. We ate downstairs and would like to try up stairs next time as was used to eating there with the previous owners. I think it will only improve with time as has not been open very long - it was quite busy so this must show that it is popular.

We ate here for an eat in meal several months ago and all was good, but recently had a takeaway and so much has changed. We paid £65 for a meal for 4, but they only provided a meal for 2, they do not do delivery, so we had to go back to get the remainder of the food. They completely admitted their fault in not providing all the food, but offered no apology at all, it took 40 minutes to cook second lot of food, and they only offered rice in compensation, which is the cheapest dish available. We asked for discount or additional dishes as compensation and they refused in a very rude manner. Eventually giving us additional mixed starter, which was minuscule 5 prawn crackers between 4. Thai restaurants are usually excellent on customer service, it was non-existent here. Sadly I won't be eating here again and am warning off friends.

Since they opened their door we've already been there twice. Once with a friend and then just the two of us. Each time the food and service was exceptional. Absolutely in love with their chicken and coconut soup!

After visiting this restaurant on a midweek evening, I can say that the food was nice but despite it not being very busy the service wasn't brilliant. The set out was nice, only the service let it down. Staff weren't overly enthused to be working, and were watching the television where diners were eating.

On our early evening visit we were given a good friendly Thai welcome, the dining area had a nice peaceful atmosphere. Our starter Thai classic to share was plentiful but of average quality, our main courses Gai loaw dang and Pla sa-mon pai were both of poor quality, the chicken was very dry and tough as if reheated a number of times and the delicate sea bass was deep fried until it resembled a piece of cardboard. Disappointed.

We went as a four and were greeted in a very friendly manner and made to feel welcome into a reasonably busy restaurant that had a nice ambiance. A good start. The menu seemed fine with a great breadth of choice. The food didn't disappoint and we were pleased with our choices and would definitely return to sample more from the menu. The staff were lovely and I would say that the new kids on the block in Olney are worth a try.

We had delayed visiting because of some of the early reviews. Persuaded by our visitors to try it we were pleasantly surprised , the welcome was very warm and the service throughout attentive and very friendly . Food came in good time with no delays . The starters were very good. I would rate the food as good but not outstanding my jungle curry was more veg than beef and the sauce could have been a little more spicy and slightly thicker. I would visit again but hope the food will evolve from good to great but the service and attentiveness needs no improvement .

We visited here after finding the Swan doesn't do food on a Sunday evening anymore. We love Thai food and have visited the Thai in Newport Pagnell regularly. The service in Amphawan is great but the food let's it down. Fatty, tasteless and generally substandard.

Amphawan reviews are hiding behind a miss-spelt TA title and when we finally found them were a little apprehensive due to the negative comments.

We had a great meal here last night. The waitresses were charming and attentive from the moment we arrived (15 minutes early) to the time we left, so whatever teething problems they may have had in the early days seem to have been overcome. The menu can look a bit daunting at first, particularly if you are not too familiar with Thai cuisine, but our waitress was able to explain the dishes and advise accordingly. In the end we went with two of the set menus for two but a couple of our party were not keen on ginger so they were able to cook the dishes to meet their requirements. A good choice of wines from about £15, so very reasonable and the whole meal for four came to just over £100. We were in the downstairs room which was three quarters full, as were both upstairs rooms, and this was the night of the ever popular rugby club ball in the town. We’ll definitely be going back.

Having had a few take always the service is improving and the food I've had has been ok, menu is strange compared to a few other Thai restaurants a lot of scallop dishes, few choices of rice dishes, have been in there when Thai people have dined so must be ok, great to have a Thai in Olney though!

We tried Amphawan tonight after learning it existed. We had starter, although I don't think they were made on site but tasted good. The minced chicken salad and the tom yum soup were really really good as was the delicious green curry and pad Thai. I believe these were authentic home made dishes. The service was friendly and fast and we will definitely be coming back soon, I hope the take away food is as good.

Tried the takeaway which was poor but thought we would give the restaurant a go. A mistake. The portents weren't good, the big Melis sign still prominent on the rear of the restaurant, the car parking signs likewise and a whole host of unwanted items slung into the outside covered area. That should have told us that the impression we got from the takeaway was the right one.

Very pleasantly surprised after reading some negative reviews when it first opened. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Firstly we're not friends with the owner or anything - this is a genuine review. We really weren't sure what to expect after the negative TripAdvisor reviews, but we were so pleasantly surprised and had a fantastic evening!

They are settling in, so a few teething problems, like training in staff etc., but the two times I have been there the food has been superb! I know one or two others haven't had such good experiences, but I can only speak for myself and the people I was with. I am prepared to make alllowances for the teething problems, and the owner always wants to know how it was and is anxious to put right anything that is left wanting. The second time I went, we had the two course £9.99 lunch which includes a soft drink or Jasmine tea, so obviously a glass of wine is an extra. I had the best chicken satay I have had this side of Singapore! I then had the Prawn Red Thai curry and it was delicious and I could not fault it.

Had heard this place had some teething troubles. We ate in a couple of weeks after opening and had a good meal, with very good service. I would certainly return and it's better Thai food than others in the area by a country mile.

Had an enjoyable evening here. The staff are colourful and friendly. We all had set menu. Starters were good. Soup was lovely especially the chicken soup. Mains on the whole were tasty although probably wouldn't have chose some of them. Service was fine as we were in no hurry. Its a lovely building and I hope they do well. For me its a big improvement on the old Mellis.

Ordered a takeaway with friends having heard about the restaurants opening on local social media. We all love Thai, and were so hopeful it would be a new favourite. We collected the food, brought it home and as we opened each dish, the quality of the food got worse and worse. The "crispy" squid looked boiled and anaemic, the vegetable noodle dish was watery and odd looking and the final straw was the rice which was squashed into a solid, flat and overlooked lump. At the sight of the rice, we all agreed that there was no way we were going to eat it any of it and so boxed it up, returned it and got a refund. Really disappointing. Perhaps we will try again in the future when they have established themselves a little.

we had a great meal here, lots of very tasty food. Mixed starter was delicious, soup very tasty, especially prawn one. Main course very good particularly noodles and sweet and sour chicken.

Fabulous food "eventually"; ninety minutes past order with no progress communication. They have a young waitress who needs LOTS of training. They have a supervisor who is very experienced and will always be overworked. They do no and look like WILL NEVER understand customer relations. They are very lucky to draw in close friends who will probably give them artificial plaudits. These people will be served first! An awful place that did provide a good dinner - or maybe we were so damned hungry!!!!!!

We tried this as two couples as we were fans of the previous Melis restaurant. Unfortunately we are most definitely not fans of this. Starters were okay, and delivered on time but not great value for money. Main courses - a different story. We had one meal delivered first; then a ten minute delay then two more meals, then the rice five minutes after that; 25 minutes later, I received my main course. I asked the waitress a number of times where the food was and she shrugged and said "I don't cook - the chef cooks". She then came back and said that because they had a lot of take away orders - they had run out of woks! When it came, the food was average at best and expensive for what it was. Shame it was so awful - but won't be going back.

We ate here last night and really wanted the new Thai restaurant in Olney to be good. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Neither the staff or the kitchen were up to coping with the number of covers and take-aways. The food was nothing more than "old fashioned" chinese with what appeared to be small amounts of reheated meat and raw vegetables in bland sauces, rather than the fresh spicy dishes you expect from Thai cuisine. The whole meal took an inordinate amount of time and we had to wait for 20 minutes to get a bill at the end. Sad to say, we won't be returning unless some drastic changes are made.

Seafood dish had curdled coconut milk that had congealed that was supposed to have been a sauce. The fish was rubbery and inedible. The other dish was passable but only just. The chef should be ashamed to have passed this dish has fit to eat. And at £24 for two dishes this was an expensive mistake. Will go elsewhere for Thai food in future.

This is a new restaurant in Olney. We were greeted warmly and our order was taken promptly. Our first course of crispy aromatic duck arrived - cold on a cold plate and it was neither crispy nor aromatic. I think it came from a duck a long time ago as it was uniformly processed like from a bulk buy bag of ready shredded duck! Our following 3 dishes arrived tepid on cold plates one beef one pork and one chicken. We began to think we were in for food poisoning! The chicken in about 5 cashew nuts had been deep fried and then heated - it was tough and rather large to eat with just a spoon and a fork! The pork was so anaemic it had obviously been steamed or boiled and the beef the same. In fact all 3 dishes tasted the same and none had been near a wok!! We did complain but the main waitress said this was their normal cooking and their normal way of serving the dishes. We left money and walked out. I cannot understand how some think this place was great it was absolutely Hell's Kitchen. When we looked through the window to the kitchen there was a huge trough with running hot water with a few pans in it - for what? boiling and steaming and a lot of microwaves going "ding" ??!! Certainly not for stir frying.

This newly opened Thai resturant is a welcome addition to the eating out choices in Olney. As a Thai food lover I can recommend a visit. The service was good and all 4 of our group were pleased with both starters and main courses. We will be back. The take away menu looks good too.
