Kam Tong Garden in Milton Keynes

Some thing of a rediscovery eating at the Kam Tong Garden, it had been about 10 years since we last dined there. The food and service was as good as I remember. All the food tasted fantastic and the service was attentive but not intrusive, plus the portions were all generous in size. It has now gone back onto our list of places to eat at once again in Milton Keynes.

Don't normally leave reviews, but was so disappointed with this dining experience, especially after being recommended by the hotel we were staying at. We will definitely be letting the hotel know as well that the experience was horrendous. We were told that we couldn't have our appetizers served before our mains, we had to have all our food in one go because they were "too busy". Bad news for our starving 4 year old, but along with flooding the table with food, by the time we go to our mains the food was cold. We weren't sure why we were told this as every table around us I observed had their appetizers, then their mains. The waitress was rude, and other tables were being checked on, I felt like my food was dumped on my table and left to finish. Like I said good food, piss poor service (just for us it seemed) and a sense to rush us out. Will not recommend this restaurant.

Great place to eat. 10 of us went for my daughter's birthday. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back again. Service was swift and friendly. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Thank you for the experience.

We ordered pork ribs which were overdone. Chicken with cashew and some sweet sauce, was terribly prepared. It seemed as if the chicken wasn't fresh. It had some taste to it. The Singapore fried rice was out of context too. If this restaurant was in my country, it would have been closed down as the quality of food isn't great 😕

Japanese king prawns were so small, very disappointed. Mixed Chow mein had no flavour

First time back after twenty five years because we moved away but found the meals were just as good if not better,well done to Dominic His family and staff.

Took my mum for her first ever visit as her birthday treat. Fantastic service and awesome food. The cherry on the cake was the table entertainment from the excellent magician. What an awesome idea. Well done Kam Tong and to the great young man that totally wowed us with his works. Brilliant evening, we loved it x

The waitress was a bit rude, food was too greasy on the chow mein, sweet and sour chicken was very dry and chewy. The food was warm but not hot. The restaurant had a nice calm atmosphere but the service wasn't very good.

Stunning place to eat and a lovely team.

Six of us had the place almost to ourselves at lunch, which was great. Sat at the corner table overlooking the lake. Staff are very friendly and eager to please. The food is freshly cooked and delicious. Portions are generous. My favourite bit was the toffee apple with ice cream :). Highly recommended.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Next to lake makes it a better dine-in restaurant. Tasty, affordable, fine dining. Cappuccino was not that good though.

Sweet and sour now £11 but they also now just fill it with veg. Both the prawn and chicken sweet and sour were the same just a load of veg. Egg fried rice isn’t fried anymore. Its just eggy boiled rice. Loved this place since i was 9 I’m now 40! But its no longer our go to.

Superb food and excellent service. Convenient location in Milton Keynes and surprisingly scenic with the surrounding pond and gardens. No sooner had we ordered our lunch …. It was delivered to our table and was absolutely delicious - thank you. A great choice to celebrate my Mother-in-Laws birthday.

I would rather smaller dishes for less money. It's rather expensive. Tasty food, fast service. Lovely setting but could do with being decorated. Would try again.

We have used this restaurant over and over and it has never failed us. The only thing is it is usually packed so dot turn up unannounced on busy times.

Whenever we are up in Milton Keynes we go here mainly because Chinese is a bit of a treat for us as we dont have one close to where we live.It was great to see proper menus back and not that horrible Ipad ordering system.Food really excellent,good portions as always and a nice setting.The food is not cheap but it is very good.

Ordered a take away for 6pm. It was ready by 5.45 so sat awaiting collection for an extra 15mins so cold when I got it home. The quality of the food was adequate but the amount was very poor value for money. £26 for 2 ribs, 2 small chicken pieces on skewers. 2tiny spring rolls. 4 small breaded prawns, 2 sesame toasts. A small amount of seaweed. 1/2 crispy duck lacked meat. All bone no substance. 4 extra mini spring rolls. 1 extra pkt of pancakes 1 extra portion of seaweed and 1 extra sauce. Total £61 I will not be returning. A lot of money for very little.

If you love overpriced & average food, look no further. The food is expensive and sadly, the quality of the food or service doesn’t match that. I really wanted to like it but walked away disappointed.

Service was slow, they made us wait an hour for a course they forgot about (my duck pancakes I was looking forward to). The food was lovely though, but I was outraged by my lack of duck pancakes and when I went to take a relief pee the toilets were gross! Cobwebs, mould and dust decorated them and they were vile!!!!!!! I was devastated by my bad experience and will not be returning with my husband and children, nor will I be recommending this place to any of my truly loved ones... maybe my enemies... In conclusion, slow service, bad experience, they forgot my duck pancakes and I will not be returning... food slaps though.

The food was repulsive to say the least, the salt and pepper prawns were ridiculously dry and way too salty it tasted like they bought it from Iceland and then added salt, we then ordered the honey chilli chicken and the szechuan chicken, the honey chilli chicken tasted like a mouthful of sugar, and the szechuan chicken tasted super sweet too. Customer service was poor when we brought it to the attention of waiting staff, the best tasting thing was the fortune cookie and it wasnt even home made. Im sure even inmates get better food than here.

This was my first visit,the food is slightly more expensive than other takeaways but oh my goodness is it worth it. The food tastes fresh and the batter is light and the staff are lovely. This is definitely my new go to restaurant 😁😁

This was the worst Chinese I have ever had. We were already put off because of the prices and how ridiculous they were but we thought we’d go for it anyway as it was a special night for us, should’ve gone elsewhere! The rice was bland absolutely no flavour just boiled with some tiny pieces of meat chucked in same for the egg fried. Salt&Pepper King prawns were priced at £16!!! For about 8 of them. Which didn’t even taste like salt and pepper they were just battered, salt and pepper ribs were also very dry and tasted like nothing. Had to lather everything in sweet and sour sauce just to be able to eat it. The only good things we got was the Kung po, seaweed, chicken balls and chips. I’ve hardly eaten anything and now left very disappointed. Would not recommend! I told my mum to get a refund but she’s so tired and over the long process that she won’t!

Food was lovely here. It wasn't busy, so nice and quiet. Staff chat to you as they pass, which is really nice and not too much. We ordered and ate a lot!!

Service was great and the setting is so pretty with the view of the lake but we ordered two noodle dishes which were absolutely tasteless. We had gyoza as a starter which was just ok. The chow main was dry and literally had zero flavouring it tasted like cooked noodles and plain cooked chicken breast, couldn't even taste any oil or basic salt and pepper. The fujian noodles looked better but were just as tasteless. Overall the portion size was good but the dishes had no flavour. I took the remains home so I can season it myself on a frying pan. I regret spending this money and wish I tried the non noodle dishes. Two stars for the service and for the crackers and fortune cookie you get for free.

Ordered stir fry beef and got like a tasteless gooey beef soup with no salt nothing. My understanding of stir fry is done in oil not cooked in gallons or fluid. Will not be going there again sorry

Ordered STIR FRY beef and STIR FRY broccoli for 3 people, costed arm and leg . Food arrived nasty, soaked in some liquid, tasteless, bitter and gooey. This restaurant is false advertising by saying stir fry for them mean boiled in water water . Absolutely horrible- never again.

Was a good experience, staff are really good at looking after you, the atmosphere was good too and the also have jazz nights. Slightly expensive but good place for a date night.

Six friends had dinner here not knowing what to expect. We were all impressed and will be back. I had the steamed sea bass which takes 45 minutes but we were warned and it was worth the wait. Started with chicken and mushroom soup which was lovely. Others had a sharing platter and veggie spring rolls and a hot and sour soup. All good. I can't remember all the mains but there was my sea bass, crispy lamb which I tried and was yummy, chicken in yellow bean sauce and fried tofu. The rice looked great with all sorts of fresh looking veg in it. The pak choi with garlic was great. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient - and occasionally funny. The food was very good quality and the portions were really generous, most of us took some home with us. It's pretty pricey but the location by a lake is wonderful and it was all very good, you get what you pay for.

Reading some of the reviews, I was shocked by the comments of service, food, speed of service and prices. When you go to a restau you can see the menu online with “prices”. You may also see photos of the food (which is a large quantity, from our experience). We were greeted with smiles, friendly service and goodbye/thank you from all that worked there. If you want speedy service go to a fast food restaurant We went on Tuesday and enjoyed the live saxophone 🎷 player all through our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant 👍

Fantastic food and service. All staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful easily going beyond the service you often receive in restaurants. We enjoyed one of the set meals and really was a good choice.

We were visitors to the area in search of a restaurant and this seemed to fit the bill but having read some reviews about service and price we should have heeded them. Initial impressions were good . It is situated next to a small lake so views were nice. Menu prices were optimistic so we ordered accorcingly. Mixed starter portions were not great and quite stingy for the price , quality was okay . The main course for the 3 of us in sittings , the first arrived , then nothing happened for 15 minutes, the special fried fried rice , mainly rice with little else arrived being dumped on the table as the server went passed , then sat there for about 10 minutes. It was sent back as nothing else was happening. I cancelled my main course but the other guest in our party had to wait a further 5 minutes before theirs arrived. In all slow indifferent service overpriced average food. Unlikely to be back

Fantastic food. I’d heard good things and their veggie starter platter was out of control good. To be honest we didn’t even need it because the mains were so big. I had the Ho Fun noodles. After giving them a few mins to cool down, the flavour started to improve the longer I ate. They really started to come together. Will visit again and can’t wait to try more dishes!

Great quality food but a bit pricey. First time ordering via Uber Eats. We ordered two different dishes - one meat, one vegetarian. Roast Duck with chow mein, vegetarian crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and plum sauce. All very tasty and I had enough to finish the veg duck the following day. My friend, with a bigger appetite would have liked a bigger portion size for the money We later saw that you can choose a larger portion if you pay extra. The free prawn crackers, for orders over £20, were also lovely. Total £28.49.

Had dinner there tonight very pleasant staff and had alot of gluten free options. We all really enjoyed the food maybe needs a touch more seasoning with the gluten free options but definitely would go here again.

We wont be back.Food was alright but the ordering process was horrible.One ipad between 8 people,ages to scroll to find what you want.The entire process rushed by the staff so much so that half our party just said anything that might be on the menu.Clearing up plates before some of us had finished,and to top it all a table reservation charge thats not refundable.Eating out is supposed to be a pleasant experience,thats what you pay for,this was not pleasant at all.

Christmas meal with work friends, Disappointed given the reviews about this restaurant. One of the chicken chow meins had 3 small pieces of chicken in it and another couldn’t find any. The service from one of the waiters was appalling, we ordered drinks and only golf of them arrived. I asked him to chase them up. They arrived a little bit later only to be followed by him with the same again! He then proceeded to tell me off for double ordering. We ordered another round a little later, again no sign of them so one if the party went out to the car and brought in a bottle of pepsi. He was very thirsty by this time. No idea if there were any desserts on offer, we were never asked. Went home and had dessert delivered instead!! Some of the party liked their food however but out of 12 guests only 4 were happy.

Good food and the location is classic. The lunch service was fast today. The waiting staff were friendly and accessible. Only complaint: if you're charging restaurant prices in a sit down restaurant, serve your courses on time. Mine was cold by the time my partners arrived and they were same dish. I'll definitely be back though, so keep up the good work Kam Tong!

Another fabulous takeaway delivered very promptly by a very polite and courteous gentleman. Food quality was superb, mixed starters, special rice and kung Po king prawns. Consistent good food and service...thank you!

Evening Meal, arrived at 7 before restaurant started to fill up. Very pleasant servers and attentive. Plenty of choice and variety on the menu. The food was really good and we enjoyed the experience. Beers are bottled not on draught but no argument with a Singha. Just a short walk from our accommodation so may have had more than one! Plenty of tables here.

Been coming here since the late 1980s and a really great lunch here today, welcoming staff, allergies taken seriously and catered for. Food was perfectly cooked, tasty and plentiful. Wonderful surroundings next to the lake, clean restaurant.

What happened to this once wonderful restaurant? Prior to The Great Panic of the last 2yrs this was a go-to place. The menu use to have a variety of bespoke dishes, specials at the weekends and an excellent wine list. The menu is a glorified takeaway and the food all be it hot is dull. The wine appeared in one glass portions and my Coke in a can. All three courses arrived to far apart. All but one of the staff were wearing those ridiculous face nappies making communication ruddy difficult. You guessed, not a fan.

Over the past 12 years, with a 2-year break for Covid, we have visited MK at a 200+ delegate weekend convention, and on the Friday evening, two of us have regularly visited the Kam Tong Garden. This year, we brought four friends, and we all...

Way to expensive and the quality of the food is not worth even half the price. I find it ridiculous how I can be charged £2.50 for one pot of tea (that in itself is fine) but then to be charged another £2.50 just for asking for another cup to pour the tea into?! Beware any sauces you want they do charge for that which I have never seen before in an eat in chinese restaurant (and I used to live in London). Also, one of the waiters who was serving the food to our table whilst moving a plate of food to make space his whole hand went into our beef dish. No apology, no asking to make another, nothing. I get an eat in restaurant has overheads to cover etc but in no way does that justify the price they have set if the quality is not on par. The quality of food is similar to your normal small Chinese takeaway which loves to add msg into everything to make it taste somewhat good! If you looking to eat Chinese in mk, personally, I would look elsewhere. We were surprised why the place was empty on a Friday evening and it makes sense now!

I don't normally do reviews. And I'm not normally a fan of Chinese food. But the food here was just amazing, and I had a dish I now regard as my favorite Chinese dish. Service great Location great. Food, bloody amazing. Whole family agreed
