Olney Pancake Parlour in Milton Keynes

Found this little piece of heaven tucked away out of sight of the main road. What a find. A little taste of luxury to ruin a low calorie diet. A sure way to brighten your day. Scrumptious pancakes, sauces and more, a real TREAT. Aided by excellent service, TEN out of TEN.

We wanted lunch to be a family experience to be remembered with our daughter and granddaughters. Promptly guided to a suitable table for five and quick return of waitress to take drinks orders. As the drinks arrived we ordered the food, mainly including pancakes, which arrived in a reasonable time. ( After all they ARE cooked fresh ) . Everything was tasty and hot. Very pleasant service by both waitresses. Clean tables and tidy restaurant. After such a pleasant experience I was surprised to read recent negative reviews so I want to redress the balance. We had a great experience. Thanks. IF a member of staff said "well, we are busy" that is not acceptable, just have sufficient staff for busy times or tell customers you're full. I'd rather be turned away than have poor service "because you're busy".

Only wanted a couple of drinks sandwiches and deserts. Had to ask three times to be served - one drink arrived - then a wait before finally our other drinks qrrrives but not the sandwich - we finished the drinks but still not sandwich - waitress said - well we’re are busy !!!! Customer apathy and awful service - sat here writing the review whilst still waiting for the sandwich !!!!! To be continued !!!!!

Excellent place to sit down, relax and enjoy a delicious coffee. Plenty of choices of hot and cold drinks along with their speciality dishes - pancakes, savoury and sweet. Opted just to have a coffee. Service was excellent and very helpful. Set inbtge centre of the busy Olney Market place. Well worth a visit.

We waited almost 40 minutes for someone to come and take our order. My partner went to go and order and they told him this was not possible and to go and sit back down. 10 minutes later a family arrived and when the waiter eventually came over and went to take their order he said “oh I ordered when I got coffee when we came in” but as he was a regular these customers clearly get priority treatment. We were sat by a window, it was cold, blowing a gale (napkins going everywhere) and starting to rain. We asked twice for it to be shut and to be told “we will get someone to do it” lies. We ordered a breakfast each and then pancakes. We asked for the pancakes to come out after as we didn’t want them to be cold (common sense right??) nope all the food came out together and when questioning the waitress her response was “we can go and leave it in the kitchen until you’re done” when pointing out they would be stone cold we got an “oh” before she walked off. I have been coming here since it very first opened and I am so disappointed with how much it’s changed. Not worth the money anymore when the service is abysmal

The service wasn’t great. It took a while for anyone to come over to take our order but the lady who eventually did was lovely. It also did take a while for our food to come out. Food was good but personally didn’t have enough sauce for our liking. But generally was a good experience and would probably return.

Absolutely awful experience here. Service was terrible, 45 minutes to take our order. Another 45 minutes to bring our food which was cold and congealed so indigestible . We returned the food expecting freshly cooked replacements. Instead, after 10 minutes, our original food was returned to us a little warm but not cooked. We were very disappointed by the Olney Pancake Parlour and do not recommend it. We went across the road for food , yes the Pancake Parlour Olney was that awful.

I love this place, the food never disappoints! This is my 4th visit. My husband and I stopped by for a late lunch. I chose the American pancake breakfast and a Chai Latte, honestly the chai latte was so good, yum! Could easily have sunk another cup. My pancakes, 3 American style together with Olney sausage, 2 bacon, poached egg and maple syrup was one of the best meals I've ever had, totally delicious 😋 My husband chose a tuna baguette which wasn't a baguette at all rather a triangle panini type bread but I did ask beforehand and this is how it was described. He enjoyed it, very tasty was his verdict, together with a strawberry milkshake topped with cream and a pancake parlour mini waffle, nice touch! Service was speedy, we sat outside in the sunshine - perfect 👌 I picked up a loyalty card today, 1 stamp for each drink purchased, worth keeping in my purse.

Popped in for a takeaway gorgeous hot chocolate and left with a piece of raspberry GF VE cake ... omg! It is absolutely gorgeous!!! I loved it and also wanna say loved the slight crispiness of the sponges ... definitely tasted homemade .... def popping back for another piece 🥳

Second visit and we absolutely loved it. Me, my wife and 2 young children went for afternoon tea to celebrate mother's day. My wife was so impressed when the guy come out with a complimentary brownie plate and red rose for all the ladies on the day. Will be back soon.

Booked afternoon tea from a specific menu, turned up and it was completely different with no fresh pancakes which is why we drove half an hour to come on mother's day for it. Included some plain sandwiches which were very boring. I had been before and had lovely afternoon tea with large savoury crepes, which is why I rebooked, but this was awful. Complained and they did try to offer one pancake (between 3) as an apology but then when we got the bill they tried to charge us for everything separately (plus the 'apology' pancake) and didn't take off the deposit we paid. Then they took off some of the deposit we paid, but not the correct amount. Resulted in most of the time there complaining, which ruined the whole experience. We had promised our daughter pancakes and she didn't understand why we didn't get them. Would have rather just gone for the normal menu which would have been a lot cheaper if we had known what the altered afternoon tea menu was. Will not be returning sadly, very disappointed.

Twice in a week saw the best of this place which has been under new ownership for a few months. Always good, a new management team have been active in bringing new events and menu items to an otherwise smashing little restaurant. Our first trip (end of January '24) was at a Burns Night. No pancakes in sight but a range of Scottish influenced snacks along with a great 3 piece band had the customers quite literally dancing in the aisles. An absolutely brilliant night which was great value at only £15. Various snacks including Oatcakes, haggis, Cranachan, salmon, cheeses, tablet, shortbread & pork pies. More than adequate to help the night go with a bang. Our second trip was an early family breakfast a few days later. First time we have eaten from their breakfast menu and certainly won't be our last. A good range of food which saw me having their Sausage Baguette - really tasty sausages in a beautiful soft Baguette. Terrific. Service for both visits was excellent and a real must visit place if you are in Olney.

Never ever fails to disappoint great friendly staff excellent service and the food is always amazing. Had the red cabbage and coconut soup accompanied by an Olney Sausage Baguette. Sausages do good had to pop to Olney Butchers to purchase some. Thank you team Olney Pancake Parlour see you soon X

What a lovely find. Warm and friendly welcome & really good food & coffee, we were lucky enough to be served by Eve, she has got that special something that every small business needs - efficiency, capability and a dazzling smile.

Totally rubbish “service “ waited for an hour for 2 sausage sandwiches and a jacket potato asked how much longer we were expected to wait….told 2 minutes then another 5minutes Then what totally was unacceptable a family who came in 15 minutes after us were served their food Lesson learnt we will not return! Staff do not give a toss unless you are part of a gathering then they will fuss about all over you I repeat NEVER AGAIN

Having been a regular here for about 10 years, we have tried the cafe several times since change of management. It’s been ‘okay’. As it’s a regular haunt for us, have tried to remain positive. This last visit was poor. The table was not clean. A request I made on my online booking seemed to have not been passed on (you can leave requests the booking form, so, benefit of the doubt, perhaps my request didn’t come through? ). No apology made. My Cooked breakfast was almost cold, though my partners was fine. My breakfast was almost inedible and I left much of it. If we had more time I would have sent it back. No one asked if the food was okay, not even when paying, and again, a lukewarm transaction at the till with staff chatting to people they know, rather than interacting with my partner whilst paying. Such a shame. In addition, there seems to be much more emphasis on dogs. Today it felt more like a dog cafe. Like another reviewer on here, we both felt the place has become quite cliquey. Time to find another venue. A great pity as it’s been part of our lives for a very long time.

What was supposed to be a pleasent outing to Olney quickly deteriorated upon entering the Pancake Parlour. All around poor service, a mini milkshake for my child which came in a small plastic cup half filled with frothy milk and a teaspoon of Nesquik, devoid of any ice cream led to a sense of dread fearing what was to come. A frazzled 3x3 inch Belgian waffle with 4 chicken dippers thrown on top for more than £10 was nothing to be sniffed at, although I would rather have had a chicken bake from Greggs whos quality would have point this joints to shame. Alas they staff are unfazed, or couldn't be bothered. Neither could I actually, and we won't be back. Rather go across the road to Costa which blows this wreck out the water

Waited over half an hour for a COLD pancake with a £9.00 price tag ! Asked for a replacement, staff said we would need to wait another half an hour ! This place is an over priced joke .

We arrived, family of 3, we were seated swiftly by a very pleasant gentleman and then it all went downhill. Waited at least 20 minutes for our order to be taken, gave up and went to the desk to order only to be greeted by a waitress saying “I will be over to take your order in a few minutes”. Shocked that she wouldn’t take my order at the desk I went and sat back down. We would have left if it was not for the fact we had promised our daughter pancakes as a last treat before school. The waitress finally came over, saw another table waiting for their order to be taken and said ‘I’m not sure who was first?’, thankfully the other table kindly said it was us, so she took our order first - not that it made any difference, will explain below, (2 sparkling waters with lemon slice, lemon & sugar pancake with cream, cinnamon sugar pancake with cream, and naughty notella with cream). Drinks arrived, unopened and glasses had no lemon which we specifically asked for and no ice. Now to make a situation even worse the other table received their food first! The waitress simply said ours was coming, there must have been a mix up in the kitchen….. A further 5 minutes later and 2 out of the 3 pancakes arrived, except we had no cutlery so we just got to sit and admire it & imagine what it tasted like. The waitress then brought cutlery over and brought the 3rd pancake out which had ice cream instead of cream so had to send it back - on the plus side it came back with a double helping of cream which made our daughter’s eyes pop out on stalks. (That gave them 1 star). On another plus side, hence the extra 1 star, the pancakes were hot and tasty & our daughter kept saying how yummy the naughty notella was. HOWEVER, for the portion size, (3 thin pancakes each), the price was extortionate! 3 pancakes & 2 sparkling waters for £25.50 for poor service & rude staff. This was our first visit and needless to say also our last! Highly do NOT recommend visiting Olney Pancake Parlour unless you have time to waste and very deep pockets!

Visited with a friend and 3 kids ages 3-5. Waitress was incredibly rude when I arrived. I went in to look for a seat and she came behind me berating me for doing so. I understand some establishments ask you to wait to be seated, however, there is a way to speak to people (also a sign could help, though I didn't see one)...I felt like I was being told off and I think she could see the reaction on my face in being spoken to in such a way & mumbled "well I did try to tell you but you walked on". Genuinely if I hadn't been meeting a friend, I would have walked out there & then. My friend ordered plain crepes with lemon & sugar for her kids, aged 3 & 5 (both tiny)...rather than letting us know there are 3 crepes per portion & 2 huge scoops of ice cream...more than enough to share, the same woman took a separate order for each of them. I'm very puzzled. The demeanour of this lady in particular indicates to me that she's not interested in repeat business? Also to have a pancake parlour without kids portions seems bizarre...overpriced & very underwhelmed. Review gets 2 stars because at the end she directed us towards a local park, perhaps in an attempt to make up for the rest of our experience? Unfortunately it's very doubtful we'll return.

Visited for lunch with friends and could not recommend any higher. Staff were lovely, food was great(we had a mixture or the savoury and sweet items)and the decor is gorgeous.

Visited the pancake parlour today with my young nephew and niece. I’m never one to write a review but I feel like this place deserves all the good reviews. From the moment walking in we was greeted by a lovely man who quickly sat us down in a space big enough for the pram and a high chair. We then ordered and got settled in and all the staff were amazing at going above and beyond for the children, colouring books and pens, extra plate for my nephew to share with me and generally being very welcoming. The food was very nice and was quickly served along with the drinks. Well done to all working and the owners. A lovely little shop with brilliant service. Will defo be coming back!! X

Not a fan of pancakes so I went for the Caesar salad with chicken and added halloumi cause I was feeling rather peckish. Also had a cortado and peach iced tea. It was all delicious! Great service too, will definitely go back. Especially when they have the banoffee tarts in

This is a lovely well located cafe in the centre of the town. The food which takes a while to come because it is fresh cooked always tastes really good. The American pancakes that they serve are really good. If you are visiting Olney or driving through give this place a visit.

Went in with my partner and we waited almost 1 hour for pancakes? 1 hour! I’m not sure why it took so long to have a simple pancake made and when it came out it was expensive for what it was! Just was not worth it. Further more staff were more busy talking about nights out they have had or nights out they are planning to have than actually looking after customers who are waiting for their food. Poor service all round, crammed in and not great food. Not sure why they seat more people than they can serve and furthermore priorities should be set right as talking about personal nights out rather than looking after customers should never happen. I usually don’t complain and wouldn’t but I had to write this review as just felt all round experience was so poor including the food, sorry to say we will not be returning.

Having not been here for a while was keen to try the food again, it soon became clear the service still very slow having waited half an hour for my food to arrive and still no sign I had to go ask where it was! It had clearly been forgotten as was stone cold when served very disappointed, salad poor all overpriced total waste of money and time

For a establishment calling its self a pancake parlour, it’s very limited to the choice of pancakes available, especially if you don’t eat chocolate. The pancakes we had were ok, but only, they were crispy round the outside, and not overly large, especially in relation to the cost. Nice little cafe, I wouldn’t call it a pancake parlour.

Given Olney's history and the pancake connection, we decided that we had to visit this place. And we were go glad we did - my cinnamon pancakes were terrific, and the milkshake was as good as it gets. My only suggestion is that the menu undersells the magnificence they of the shakes - when you see milkshake on the menu, you don't expect something as terrific as I got. The proprietor could not be more helpful, assisting everyone with their needs. Highly recommended.

There has been a complete refurb - which looks amazing, clean and just nice to be in. Staff are so friendly and accommodating, coffee is delicious and food was fresh and great value for money! We ordered the sharing pancake platter and it did not disappoint! 100% recommend (bonus they now sell beer and bubbles for a cheeky treat)!

I went there with 3 other friends for breakfast yesterday and it was excellent! Lovely service and great food. Loved the decor too as I haven’t been for a while so since the last time looks fresh and new! The coffee was great too so as it happens after going for a walk around Olney we ended back at the pancake parlour and ended up grabbing another coffee! Will definitely return

Lovely staff however my Advocado and mozzarella salad very bland and over priced. Needed some dried tomatoes and basil sauce or something to make it more interesting and worth £9.50.

We gave the Pancake Parlour a go after hearing about their new menu.. and were glad we did! It was busy when we arrived but were greeted and seated quickly, staff were polite and helpful and one young girl even recommended a dish for me as i was spoilt for choice. We went for the Soup of the day & the Caesar Salad with chicken - the soup was delicious & came with a generous serve of fresh baguette and the salad was so tasty! For desert we shared a ‘Chocolate Dream’ stack of pancakes & it was exactly that - a generous portion and so so yummy! Overall the place was clean & tidy - they had signs up notifying their renovation work wasn’t quite complete, but it didn’t affect our experience. The staff were polite despite their busy-ness & the cakes on offer looked pretty good too! We will definitely be returning.

Had to speak to someone to remind them to take our order. Whilst there another customer left before getting their coffee - clearly not happy about waiting so long for a single coffee and no food. At the till I was asked 'was everything okay?'....

Visited here a few times now and it’s always fab! Good value for money, friendly staff and amazing food! The pancake selection is huge and they are so delicious! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in or around Olney!

Been meaning to check this place out for a while but due to distance I have only just visited and it was totally worth the drive! The staff were lovely and welcoming, there was a nice feel to the place and the food was amazing! Definitely ‘Instagram worthy’ If you like your sweet treats with an option for savoury, this is the place for you! I went with my partner, but I’ll definitely be visiting again with family and friends! Parking opposite the pancake parlour makes it super easy to visit too! Recommend!!

Amazing little place. We had a special occasion and the staff were so accommodating. The coffee is some of the best I’ve had and the food was delicious.

I have eaten here a number of times. Food is good, but the service is very slow. Once they forgot my order and a family opposite who had come in after me were served first. I waited half an hour. The family even offered me their food ( one of them was having the same). I was just forgotten. Another time I had to leave and ask for my money back as I had no time to eat it by the time it was served. One member of staff never listens to the order and has to ask it to be repeated. This has happened every time! Probably six times.

After wanting to visit the pancake palour for a couple of years, I finally went for my birthday a few weeks ago. We decided to share a savory and a sweet option for breakfast and I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the worst pancakes I've ever tasted. Our knife could barely cut through them and no amount of syrup could salvage them. They weren't burnt in any way, so we can only assume that they were reheated.We did tell the staff (twice) and they did apologize, but we shouldn't really have paid for our meals we didn't eat most of it.

We haven’t been here since lockdown so booked a table for 4. As always amazing pancakes and was worth the 6 month wait. One of our favourite places. Always be back.

Glad to be back. Coffee excellent as usual and American pancake breakfast, fab. Really well organised Covid management and table spacing. Staff polite and friendly, and, I observed, especially patient with general public unable to observe the huge board at the door asking customers to wait there and with customers rudeness and seeming obliviousness to the challenges presented to staff running a cafe safely in the Covid climate (one customer who hadn’t booked, just marched in demanding food because his child was hungry!!) Customer service, quality of food and experience 10/10. Looking forward to next visit soon. One tip, I Would recommend booking.

Decided to drop in here in the midst of the Covid pandemic for lunch, fully expecting to be able to get a sandwich or something similar.We were shown to a vacant table and supplied with a menu which was pretty limited in scope and basically consisted of pancakes.We really wanted something else so considered leaving to go to one of the other coffee shops but the time of day won and much against our judgement, stayed put .......and how delighted we were with the decision.Settling on the Breakfast Pancakes (3 pancakes, bacon, sausage and egg with maple syrup) we were amazed when it appeared. Looked good, smelt superb and tasted even better. No way would we have thought pancakes could coexist on a plate of fried food but co-exist they did. The pancakes although pretty thick were as light as could be. Add the sweet syrup, a brilliant cup of coffee and the conflicting flavours simply tickled the taste buds - magnifique as the French would say. This was a culinary delight!!!Never have I been so glad to have stayed put when our thoughts were to move on and one thing is certain - we'll be back, just to check if this is the standard fayre from the Pancake Parlour. Certainly hope it is as we haven't been frequenting it as often as we have some of the other coffee shops in town but somehow, I think that will be changing!

Myself and my partner stopped here on a walk through Emberton and Olney. We had seen a good review from a local food blogger, so decided to try it out. The staff were really welcoming and strictly following guidelines due to Covid-19 - tables were spread out and they were operating table service. I ordered the Gammon and Cheese pancake, and my partner went for the Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese. Both were absolutely delicious - a good portion served with plenty of salad. We had thought that we would share a sweet pancake after for dessert but were too full - we will be returning!
