The best restaurants in Hurstpierpoint and Downs Mid Sussex South East

We wanted to say a HUGE thank you, to Jamie, Krysia, Nikky, Steph, Sarah, Gill and the whole team for making our wedding the best day ever! From the moment we chose Pangdean we felt relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. We had so much fun, and our guests are still raving about how great the food and staff were and how stunning the venue looked! I have travelled far and wide. And I have eaten a lot of pizza. Spent many evenings on work trips sampling the best the motherland of pizza, Naples, has to offer. Plenty of quick lunches in the back streets of Milan. Many evenings in New York City trying out the newest and the old school. And the whole time, it turns out the best pizza I have ever tasted happens to be in the village I live in. Everything about this place is wonderful. Great pizza basically starts with great bread, and VPK utterly nail it. Exceptional and often locally sourced ingredients make for a fantastic and interesting menu that brings their outstanding sourdough into the realms of holy mother good pizza. We used them for my partner’s birthday at a local venue and they arrived exactly on time with piping hot fresh heaven sent pizza and an array of lovely sides, all expertly put together. Some would say a tad expensive, but they are wromg basically. You get what you pay for. In this case you get the best pizza on earth and I for one think it to be nothing but incredible value. Thankyou VPK. You have conquered pizza. The end.

Super little place... I say little, because it feels intimate, yet it goes back for a ways, so they can seat quite a few folks... the burger and snacks menu was perfect... beer selection fantastic (I had a brewed in house one that was delish!)...though they also serve other beverages... staff was super friendly and accommodating... love the style, cleanliness, the ambience and the food... 100% win in my book. Will definitely go back with no hesitation whatsoever...

World class fine dining in the heart of Hurstpierpoint, on a Saturday evening you get to choose from either a 6 or 8 course tasting menu with a vegetarian option as well. Each dish was a delight and the paired wines were excellent.

Such a sweet independent place!

Brilliant little stop over on the south downs way. Hadn't realized it was there the first time we walked past it, had brought and already eaten our own lunch, so just had a coffee and ice cream. Made the effort to retrace part of the walk more recently specifically to go back for lunch. Worth it.

Top Chip Shop. Great menu. Tasty chips.

My wife came here with some girlfriends and raved about it so much we came back with some friends for Saturday lunch. Lovely ambience, very attentive staff, the owner is a warm and friendly presence. Food was amazing, in particular my spicy prawn cocktail starter. My main was a little disappointing but I think I simply chose badly - steak frites, not a great cut. Will choose differently next time. Well worth a visit.

Have used this cafe for many years, but I'm afraid it's gone down hill now. Food wasn't bad but not good. Staff were good. Toilets a bloody mess, very dirty .Scrap yard next door with rats running about. We will not stop here any more.

On a recommendation, we had Hampers cater for our 40th wedding anniversary. Bob came and set up the food for us that time and everything, the quiches, the sausage rolls, the scotch eggs, the sandwiches, the salads.........., everything, was perfect. Ten years on and who could we possibly ask to cater for our Golden Wedding? Luckily Bob is still the friendly and professional person he was for our 40th. The quality of his food hasn't changed either. Every one of our guests, without exception, remarked about just how nice everything was, not just in appearance but in taste, texture, everything. He even opened his shop especially on a Sunday morning so that I could go and collect the it.

Fabulous service. Dog friendly. Good food AND Ginger beer!!! We had an excellent meal hereon our journey towards Brighton. Made very welcome.. including our dog.

We booked an outdoor pod for a girly get together and roast. The food was great and service is good as you can ring a bell when you need something. Brilliant atmosphere as you get privacy and can really be in your own bubble which is brilliant. Highly recommend booking a pod.

Some very good cooking but experience ruined by exceptionally loud restaurant and waiting staff didn't seem to listen then bought the wrong items. They did however make an effort and were friendly, I think we were just unlucky with our timing (there were large groups). Edited: As of May 24, no longer serving alcohol, frustrating that they didn't mention it when I booked, I didn't feel very good walking off to Co-Op to fetch wine and beer. It's also a bit awkward with beer going warm but they did provide a cork-screw and ice. Business as usual however, with regards to very good food, but yet again they seem to attract large, loud groups.
