Hampers in Mid Sussex

On a recommendation, we had Hampers cater for our 40th wedding anniversary. Bob came and set up the food for us that time and everything, the quiches, the sausage rolls, the scotch eggs, the sandwiches, the salads.........., everything, was perfect. Ten years on and who could we possibly ask to cater for our Golden Wedding? Luckily Bob is still the friendly and professional person he was for our 40th. The quality of his food hasn't changed either. Every one of our guests, without exception, remarked about just how nice everything was, not just in appearance but in taste, texture, everything. He even opened his shop especially on a Sunday morning so that I could go and collect the it.

Absolutely delicious quiche , deserts , cheeses 🧀 bread and pastries. Love to visit the deli and outstanding for parities / outside catering!

Excellent local deli. Good bread, fresh sandwiches and nice quiches, sausage rolls and cakes. Very friendly people as well.

We popped into this establishment to grab a few sandwiches to take out. Although they were tasty, preparation could have been a bit better as the salad was heavily applied to the top. Due to the amount of lettuce and salad which appeared to be heavy in water content, this did have an impact on the taste somewhat. Cost also seemed excessive at £18 for 3 baguettes and 2 packets of crisps.

Specials change every week with everything made to order. Genuinely the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Sausage rolls are also to die for. Everything I’m in Hurstpierpoint I go here.

We moved to Hurst a year ago and Bob and his wonderful team are very much the cornerstone of the community. A wonderful selection of fresh breads and pastries, great deli counter and lovely (home baked) hot takeaway lunches and made to order sandwiches. There are a couple of negative reviews picking on the time it takes for friendly service and food prepared to order. Slow down a little. Try chatting to the person next to you. Get over yourself. This place understands service and flavour.

We asked Bob to create a sumptuous Sunday dinner for six for us to be held at our house. He created a delicious Chicken Coq au vin followed by an extraordinary Pavlova. What a dinner. To be highly recommended.

Always superb food, great service. Never cheap because you are buying the highest quality food. If you want cheap go to a supermarket.

Bob has a different menu every day for lunch... He caters for everyone . He is a real foodie and listens to what his clients want. He bakes home made bread every morning which is a delight.. There is also a good deli selection which means you don't need to drive into town to get your shopping ....

This is such a lovely deli and Bob the owner is very friendly,the coffee is amazing and certainly hits the spot on a cold winters morning. The produce in the shop is always fresh and I like the fact that most of it is locally sourced,if not made by Bob himself. I'm yet to take my wife here as I'm sure she will love the homemade products.

A delightful Deli with lots of freshly cooked food. Bob used to run a restaurant next door called 'Bowles', if I remember correctly, it was the BEST in TOWN. But sadly it was all too much for them running the shop by day and the restaurant into the late hours

The sandwiches in Hampers are absolutely delicious! Crammed full and good quality bread. Worth every penny! Bob's homemade quiches are brilliant. They sell a good selection of cheeses, ham, salamis, olives, and lovely bread. Look out for the homemade flapjacks, bread pudding and chocolate brownies!

This local friendly deli treats every customer with respect and friendship. The produce is home cooked by the owner or supplied by local artisans and producers. It may be small but it feels as though you should spend more time talking about the produce and how your own cooking can be improved. Hampers is highly recommended. Try the made to order sandwiches on local freshly baked bread. you will not be disappointed.

Bobs sausage rolls are the best! In fact anything Bob makes and sells is fab. It's our local deli and we consider an asset to our village. Since moving here 3 years ago it's one of our regular shopping venues.

Have used Bob at Hampers outside catering service 3 times and it has always been superb. Large choice of menus, expertly prepared, delivered ready to serve. Takes all the work out of family parties and celebrations.

Went into Hampers to order a cheese and ham toastie, after ordering I stood waiting in the shop for 10 minutes (with no staff in sight), I then get told the machine hasn't been turned on yet. Another 15 minutes later and after being overcharged by 50p, the owner then came out to give me a completely soggy and greasy cheese and ham sandwich (not toastie) saying that they would have to refund me the money as it 'isn't really toasted'. 3 customers came in while I was there and left as no one was there to serve them.Overall experience: very very disappointing

I am a local and love shopping at Hampers. Bob and his staff are very welcoming and provide a great range of delicious and tasty produce.Hampers not only is a great deli but you can also great a sandwich for lunch.

I have been a customer to Hampers for many years and have never once been disappointed.The staff are all fantastic; brilliant attitudes from every person that works there and Bob is a genius with the creations he comes up with.The menu is constantly changing and I especially love the soups that are on offer in the cooler months. Whether you're looking for hot food or just a lunchtime snack, Hampers can cater for you. I am hoping to use this establishment to cater for my wedding in the near future. I would strongly recommend visiting Hampers on any trip made into Hurstpierpoint.

We have preordered food here a few times for parties at home and the food has always been of excellent quality whatever you order. The turkey and ham pie is a must. Pity it's not a bit closer to us!! Don't miss out!!

This is my first trip adviser feedback ever- happened to find this deli be chance & bought some things for lunch off the deli counter. Hubby & I agreed the asparagus & cheese quiche was the best we've ever tasted! Plus the kids not having tasted coronation chicken before promptly ate most of the pot. Will definitely go in again

Top deli, great staff and lovely food. If haven't tried it the lamb kofte wrap is to die for and no visit is complete without a homemade sausage roll still warm from the oven. The bread is delicious and a good choice is available, pastries are melt in the mouth, this place is just brimming with delicious top quality grub, no surprise it's heaving during the lunch hours!

I visit regularly to pick up snacks and things for lunch and this place has never let me down. The food is always fresh and top quality and despite this, it's not actually that expnsive. I'd recommend it to anyone!

A wide range of food is available at this deli at reasonable prices. Bob can prepare a feast for your private event, or you can just pop in for a scotch egg or arancini. Decent bread, cakes drinks, sandwiches made to order, coffee, tea, soups, meats, there is plenty available to suit all tastes. Bob is an absolute diamond who works long hours to make this place a deserved success. Despite the opening of a bakery next door a few years ago, Bob retains a loyal and large customer base simply by being a decent bloke who works hard to give people what they want.

We popped in the deli when visiting my elderly mother and really felt we'd found a little gem in the High Street. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the selection of food was fabulous. I can highly recommend the sausage rolls and soup of the day. And a cheeky slice of bread pudding! We will be making the deli a regular stop off when visiting Hurstpierpoint!

Just went to hampers to get a sandwhich for the teddy bears picnic in hurst. After placing my order, they kept me waiting 15 minutes before finally appearing with a roll for someone else. On telling them to forget it as I was in a hurry there was not even an apology just a nod. They were not even that busy. Ended up missing the picnic as parking was gone by the time I finally went elsewhere, so very annoyed.

Bob Saunders and his girls (known locally as 'Bob's babes') work incredibly hard supplying lunch time food for local businesses, workers and residents. In the winter months the home made soup goes down a treat as do their lunch time specials which consist of a different dish every day. The dishes are all home cooked and you can be eating a good old traditional meal one day (maybe liver and bacon, shepherds pie etc), then the next you will find anything from pasta to curry or more exotic dishes. Add to this the selection of baguettes, jacket potatoes, toasted bagels and more, you can understand why people are often queuing out of the door at lunchtimes! They also offer outside catering for parties and bigger events.

Hubby visits often to get a freshly made sandwich. We order special cheeses and other items and get great service. Lovely breads and other delicious delights

Really lovely fresh homemade food, with a fantastic amount of different foods to choose from, fresh breads cakes pies quiche different meats cheeses chutneys sauces etc.. a real gem to have in a small Village a must to visit..

I was recommended this deli by the staff at nearby Hassocks Golf Club. They have a great selection of hot food, sandwiches and rolls with creative fillings. The bread is terrific with many choices. I would encourage you to give it a try
