Fabulous service. Dog friendly. Good food AND Ginger beer!!! We had an excellent meal hereon our journey towards Brighton. Made very welcome.. including our dog.

We went to our new local for lunch on Saturday and had a very warm welcome as well as very tasty food. We will definitely be returning very soon. Highly recommended.

We went here for Sunday lunch. There was plenty of choice but we both decided to go with the roast beef. The staff were very busy but the service was very good. Everything ran perfectly. The meal was beautifully cooked and presented. My husband had a couple of pints of BN2, which he said was very “quaffable”. We would definitely recommend it and will certainly go back.

Our first visit as a family with friends and ate diner. The food was homemade and delicious! The owners are friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a great experience and we shall definitely return. Oh, and two open fires give the pub a wonderful homely feel.

Stopped here on the way back from Haywards Heath just for a quick drink. Decided to stay for something to eat. So glad we did! Food superb! Meatballs in tomato sauce with fried potatoes. Delicious! Fabulous local food with friendly and attentive service. Very attentive landlady and landlord our first visit for a recommendation on a pub quiz ! Great atmosphere and lovely customers to chat to whom were all very welcoming.

Open fire, friendly welcome, good food and drink. All the basics for a nice lunchtime drink and bite to eat. Monty the dog was a novel ingredient to our visit and not a problem for us - yes he does give you a good welcome and bring his ball a couple times, but then lays down and leaves you alone. We will pop in again,

The Duke of York is a lovely intimate pub, with fresh food and wonderful staff. Alison the owner is always so welcoming and Monty too. Definitely recommend visiting to all.

Dropped in for an evening meal - lovely friendly pub, with a nice selection of food and drink - the staff were very welcoming, very much a family pub with a suitable children's menu - the pub has a lovely outdoor space which is just a beautiful sun trap for dining out - we shall certainly visit again

Really disappointed to have to say that last nights meal was again spoilt by avoidable situations! Previously, badly managed 50 minute wait for starters. Last night, undercooked Chicken Skewers (pink, and lukewarm) that were still (deliberately, at the instruction of the kitchen staff) billed as Chicken Skewers @ £14 - despite being returned uneaten and replaced by chips and salad as I didn't want to wait 20 mins for a replacement, when my partner was already eating his meal. Such a shame as we would really like to have returned to eat ... sadly not likely to happen now, as whilst I'm happy to pay for what I did eat, I think it outrageous that I would be expected to pay for something I didn't eat!!!

I really wish this pub success as Sayers Common needs a pub it can enjoy and recommend. Food (when arrived) was a good standard and staff are particularly chatty. A big issue for me is that whilst I have absolutely no objection to their large dog Monty being in the restaurant and more than happy that those customers who adore him play with him quietly. However I do feel the owners need to consider not everyone appreciates constantly being bothered by Monty to throw his rather dribbled toy as this could result in customers not returning. Please take this review as intended; constructive feedback. I adore my grandchildren but I appreciate not everyone see’s them as adorable as I do!

We stopped for lunch at the Duke of York yesterday before setting off for home after a trip to view a car, really lovely warm welcome from the host, beautiful decor and spotlessly clean everywhere not forgetting the toilets, very nice menu and we both had a lovely meal, had a lovely chat with the owner whilst waiting for our food and Enjoyed the company of Monty the Labrador too ❤️ Highly recommend this establishment! 5 stars really lovely find for us ❤️

We called in for a late lunch at around 14.15 we didn't realise the kichen had just closed, however they very kindly opened it up for us and offered to cook us anything from the menu. The food and service was excellent, lovely friendly staff and they have a very good Covid awareness system in place. Thank you we will definitely recommend and visit again *****

Since reopening in April we’ve had 2 takeaway meals and one dine in. Each meal has been excellent- the beef burger and chicken fillet burgers have been lovely. Friendly staff and great service. Looking forward to being able to eat inside later this month!
