Morleys Bistro in Mid Sussex

Had a lovely lunch here. Lots of choice including vegetarian. Atmosphere was good, service was excellent and the price was reasonable

We booked a room here at Morley's - And did consider whether it was fair to leave a review, as the room bookings do seem to be managed by another company, but the rooms are booked directly on Morley's Bistro website, and we did visit Morley's Bistro 2 days prior to the stay, and were met with the worst attitude. Staff refused to even show my wife the entry door for the rooms. As we were checking in outside of their staffed hours (the room was self check in) the company were quite aggressive in making a point that any issues upon check in would be at our risk. Fair enough. But seemed a bit odd that they were so focused on that. Almost like they'd had issues before... My wife went down to the property a couple days before, to check the procedure etc. The staff at the property were very unhelpful, said it wasn't their job, and refused to show my wife the access to the property. Luckily it wasn't rocket science, and the door to the rooms was just on the side of the building with clear instructions on how to operate the key pad. 'Pull door towards you, enter code, push door'. When we arrived, the code didn't work. Surprise surprise. Called the helpline, with no answer. Checked the poor reviews for the property after the fact, and was absolutely rife with people having issues with keypad access. People supplied with wrong codes, keypad malfunctioning etc. Obviously it's not just us then. Company shrugged, and said it wasn't their issue. So we spent our wedding night wandering around an alleyway, until we eventually just got another expensive taxi ride home. Rare I leave a bad review, but this definitely earnt it! Would not recommend!

What a great place for a birthday breakfast!

A good menu. The food was of the highest quality in presentation and taste. A good selection for all types of meal styles. Service very good, helpful and cheerful. No hesitation in recommending Morleys Bistro!

This place was a great find!! A group of us went here for breakfast. Food was fantastic. Staff were really friendly and attentative. Atmosphere was really great. Nice decor. Clean. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We always love our lunchtime or dinner visits to Morley’s! The food is fab every time, with a great choice of menu which caters well for different dietary requirements. The staff are always friendly with the decor kept refreshed and looking lovely.

Woof Woof. This is a stunning neighbourhood restaurant with all the trimmings. the food, service and vibe is without a doubt the finest in Sussex.

My favourite eaterie for morning coffee, lunch and dinner. Pleasant staff, great background music at coffee and lunch times. Excellent food and drink and keenly priced to represent value for money. Love the monkfish scampi and the lamb on my last visit was arguably the best and most tender I have tasted.

Visited Morleys last night for dinner. Food was amazing and service was exceptional. Although they were busy with others the owner and staff made you feel you were the only people there. Highly recommend

Our absolute favourite breakfast venue! The quality of the food is first rate, always cooked to perfection (and I’m fussy about my eggs😂) But more than that is the atmosphere and the staff… warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Just perfect!

We booked a lunchtime visit. Excellent food and service. We were not seated in the best table in the house by far but they were very busy. We will definitely return in the evening next month.

Just had our anniversary meal here the staff were fantastic. Our table was late but it didn't matter because we were more than compisated. The food was amazing. All in all I would definitely recommend Morley s to anyone

Xmas has arrived at Morleys! A packed restaurant full of festive atmosphere we enjoyed fantastic service and a wonderful lunch from the Xmas menu. Sautéed tiger prawns with tomato, basil & feta cheese to start and the main courses of Turkey ballotine with apricot & sausage meat stuffing with a red wine sauce and baked haddock served in an Asian style coconut broth were outstanding. We finished off our lunch with a wonderful mince pie cocktail - definitely one to try!

Lovely restaurant with very friendly service and great lunch options. We booked in advance as it was recommended and I can see why - it was nicely busy and had a decent lunchtime atmosphere.

Booked for a birthday lunch - hadn’t been for several years but had heard great reports of it recently. We shared the seafood platter and had the duck and slow roast pork mains. We finished with an orange panacotta and apple cake. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere and service were great. It was packed out - definitely book in advance!

We had a superb Sunday lunch at Morley’s. The tasty, tender roast beef and crispy Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were accompanied by a generous, well cooked( not over cooked!) selection of vegetables. This is quite an achievement in a busy restaurant. The service was attentive and at £17 we felt the meal was excellent value.

Food was spot on except the duck was tough but that happens sometimes with the cut of meat. Mussels absolutely delicious. Star of the show was the staff attentive and friendly. Sharing seafood platter might seem expensive but it’s well worth it and would recommend.

Great little hotel above the bistro. Room was clean and perfectly presented. Will definitely be staying here again.

The food here is unbelievably good, and decently priced considering the quality. We were made to feel welcome and the menu was varied without being over complicated. The optional lunch menu was amazing value and the care and pride in the cooking and presentation is a delight.. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and we will definitely be back again.

We loved everything about our lunch at Morleys Bistro. The waitress who attended us was super helpful and nice. And the pork and the steak, as well as the creme brulé were really good! We sat in the outdoors terrace and it was lovely under the parasol.

Came here for brunch with the family. Held off breakfast (obviously) but it took 50 mins for our food to arrive after ordering. The staff are friendly enough and gave our son some paper to draw on after we asked. The food arrived and despite our hunger it was simply very average. Nothing wrong with average but after the wait and the price I didn't think it was worth it. Nicer inside though, nice outside area too. I think in the evenings for drinks it'd be better for our needs but if the long wait and average food is typical (this was our first time visiting) then I'd only come here for drinks in future.

I had oysters followed by a special of confit duck.Both were excellent.Staff were friendly and efficient.What more can one ask?

Delightful bistro in Hurstpierpoint. As the weather was good we were able to sit in the dining area outside which has a cover so you did not get sunburnt. Friendly staff served our drinks as soon as we were seated. Delicious freshly cooked food. My friend had a pork dish, I had the bubble and squeak special that was very tasty. Will certainly go back.

Lovely location & seating areas in and out, friendly staff but sadly the food does not reach these high standards. The food presentation was good but lacked seasoning - so very bland. We all agreed we would not return having been twice now and all chosen different food. Dry meat and was tough. Such a shame but chef needs to step up big time.

Everything was just superb. The food was lovely. Highly recommend. There is a fabulous outdoor spruce too all under cover so they have it all sorted for all weathers

Excellent menu and service all round

This place is a lovely restaurant not just for a meal but to pop in for coffee as well. The staff were friendly and very attentive and the place was beautifully set out . Each one of my friends had something different to eat and it all was presented beautifully and tasted really nice. I feel the prices reflected the food and the the whole place not too expensive and worth visiting. A bonus as well the toilets were decorated to a high standard and very clean and presentable just on a personal note to other places I have been to before.

This restaurant was a recommendation from a friend and we had a great lunch. Fortunately we made a reservation as the restaurant was full by 2pm. A great menu with daily specials. An extensive drinks menu too including non Alcoholic beer and non Alcoholic cocktails. Excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere. None of our party chose a starter but had the minted lamb burger with harrisa ketchup on a pretzel bun accompanied with fries. Spicy prawns with Nduja and sour dough bread and sausage cassoulet. We shared a mango and peach Eton mess and one of our party had rum and raisin ice-cream. We will definitely return to this great restaurant

I've been nagged at for a year to visit Morley's and my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. The place is charming and the staff are lovely but the food is wonderful, you need to bring your appetite or a friend to share desert with because the servings are generous but you won't want to miss the sweets. Hearty been stew with sausage, a huge seafood Caesar salad or the deceptive lamb burger are all great. The fact that it can be packed on a Tuesday lunchtime gives you an idea of how popular they are

Worst roast ever. Beef so tough it needed a steak knife. Vegetables that must have been left overs from the day before and all wonderfully cold!!!

Very good all round, especially the food. We had the seafood stew, which is one of the best I've had recently, and the prawn curry, spot on.

Room was very comfortable with everything needed. Staff were lovely and carried our bags as we were on the second floor. Would stay again

We have had an excellent stay at Morleys Rooms and Bistro. We were looked after from the moment we arrived with professional and friendly service. Enjoyed it all. Would visit again any time. The food was also excellent and made us want to return. We recommend Morleys Rooms and Bistro.

We were staying in a room on site so it was easy to get to. We ordered the pork with crushed potatoes and ratatouille. Whilst it was not a ratatouille really it was still nice. We also ordered desserts. I had poached pear and my husband has lemon tart. Both were lovely. No-one checked on how the mains were as they were so busy. Tables feel squashed in if I'm honest but we still enjoyed our food. The young lady who took our drinks and food order was really nice. Shortish dark hair.

We visited a couple of days ago. We were staying next door so this was perfect just a few steps away. It's dog friendly and as it was a warm evening we sat outside. Even though it was a Tuesday evening it was quite busy and had a good atmosphere. The outside space is lovely. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. There was a minor mix up with my vegan order and they were so apologetic and concerned about it and sorted it out really quickly. Customer service was exceptional. Highly recommend and if we are ever back in the area we would return.

Great menu. Staff are brilliant

Good service and food was very well done starters shared were calimari in batter with aoli. If any criticism then then they were a little small. Mains duck nicely pink and lentil “meat “ balls was very tasty. Sides of green beans nicely crunchy. Dessert crème brûlée excellent. Not “doctored “ but good vanilla flavour. Have been three times this year and not disappointed. Keep it up Morley’s

Having decided late in the day go go for dinner we rand to check availability and we’re assured a walk in an hour later would be fine. The venue is well set out with welcoming staff . Menu not too big with a few specials available too as well as a good wine list with all wines available by the glass as well as the bottle. Portion sizes are good and service is very prompt. Definitely one to return to.
