We had already been in the past and had been wanting to come back since. We were as impressed as the first time. The fish was generously thick and the batter was crispy and thin. The staff was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was tidy and clean. We don't live in the area but will look for an opportunity to come back.

Friend recommendation - didn't disappointment, the haddock was beautifully cooked and full of taste, the chips were cooked to perfection also, really enjoyed it, would highly recommend!!!!! We made use of the dine in facility and it didn't break the bank either, 10 out of 10!!

You won't get better service or food than Sam's fish bar. Staff are really amazing and friendly and genuinely care about their customers. They even give us a fish cake for our dog when she's with us. Best fish and chips I've ever had too! Thank you for being so great!!

Calamari delicious but it’s £7 for 6 rings. Website says £6.50 for 10 rings Burgers are very nice especially with fried onions.

This place is amazing for those allergies. I’ve got quite a severe gluten allergy, and often get sick even from oil that has had gluten items fried in previously! I am used to not being able to eat anywhere but home, but was astonished to discover that the chips were not only gluten free but in an all GF fryer! In addition to this, there was a whole host of gluten free options, something I rarely if ever get! I chose chicken nuggets, they were amazing, especially for GF batter! The icing on the cake was when the staff knew that malt vinegar contained gluten and offered an alternative 🙂 something I didn’t know myself for months! I felt completely safe eating here, had no concerns with cross contamination and getting sick! I really couldn’t recommend it to those with dietary restrictions enough! A huge thanks!

We are regulars at Sam's..very good portions, fresh from the fryer, polite friendly staff, spotlessly clean and always busy. Take cash as well as cards and you can eat in. You can ring up and order or go online. Our favourite is cod n chips takeaway and very much needed at our end of town.

Ordered a large grilled haddock and small chips and it was amazing. Fish was seasoned well and was flaky, ripping straight off the skin. Chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, really good chilli sauce as well. Not only was it delicious but good value as well coming it at £13.50 for enough food for two. Would Highly recommend. Got their classic fried Fish+Chips and that was amazing as well, but personally prefer the lighter grilled option. They have a great menu and great service as well and a nice atmosphere with places to eat in as well. Unbiased opinion, I do give it a perfect score just as there is no other chippy as good. They do have Halal chicken (not the pies but everything else). Only critique would be to put the chips in a box instead of the paper as the sauce then sticks to the paper and you lose most of the chilli sauce :( , that's me being specific.

Ordered 30 portions of fish and chips for my nursing home residents to enjoy in the garden. Sams were very happy to help us and had the food ready for me to pick up and it was delicious lots of compliments from my residents about how good the food was and good value for money.

Ate in. When done well, fish and chips is a great, simple meal. This was very good fish and chips. Excellent haddock and huss. Chips cooked to perfection. All piping hot and cooked fresh.

Just wanted to say a massive thankyou to the kind staff who bailed me and my friends out today. We were celebrating our final end of term before we have to leave school and it was raining cats and dogs. Not only did they give us a warm place to shelter they also gave us free chips, discounted food and some good conversation. As teenagers it's rare we get a kind welcome but the people here were so lovely and we're definitely going to be coming back! Thankyou so much! Would highly recommend to anyone of any age

This chip shop is a hidden gem! The chips are always cooked to perfection - they're crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fish is also delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this chip shop to anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal.

Slow slow slow with a weird queuing system, first in last out even though you have ordered just chips. They positively insist on cash and don’t like it when you pay by card and I’ve been moaned at “next time you pay cash” made me feel like a scorned child. Just awful. Food is ok even if portion size of cod roe is half of other chip shops 🤔

I had a very nice cod, in a nice light batter, and chips. I wanted to eat in but arrived to find the dining area in darkness. I asked the guys if the dining area was open, and they had no hesitation in turning the lights on, and welcoming me to dine in. Service was very swift, and very polite. Thank you guys. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

We had some of the best fish n chips last night nice big cod plenty of chips, however I have never experienced so much fat it went everywhere all down my wife’s new coat and jeans spent the next 2 hours trying to get it out , but this has not put us off we will bring a carrier bag next time.

first I would like to say this is a little banger of a fish bar establishment with divine foods and excellent waiting times on a Friday of only 47 minutes as the have 95,000 staff members working at all times and cant seem to take abit of fish out of the heat tray. however on the other hand their divine service and waiting time allows it to be my favourite method for collection of fried fish to consumed on a Saturday night when i basically cant be asked to cook. the only drawback to looking at their google maps profile is the food in the images looks rank compared to what you actually receive so enter this establishment with high hopes of actually getting food but, I'm sure unlike McDonald's they don't use horse meat. so in conclusion to sum up everything that as previously stated its good innit

Food tastes nice, sometimes male staff can be rude however the young girls are often polite. Portion sizes vary quite a lot and have recently become much smaller however quality remains the same.

Just ordered small chips and a buttered roll. I asked for the chips to be well done as I like them crispy not undercooked. The service girls are very young and the cook seems to bully them. My request was met with chips are cooked as they are. By this time she had taken my money. £2.50 for small chips and £1 for a buttered roll was a fair price. Shame the chips were so badly cooked. Very greasy and tasted bland. Won't be visiting here again due to the shocking service from the cook. Just had a reply Hi Julian i was cooking my self tonight i am the gentleman on the very end we barely talk to the girls i think you are talking about the counter staff in this case. I tried my best to cook you crispy chips but we have fresh oil which makes it hard to “overcook” as friday is also very busy day especially at the moment we are getting new season patatoes which are very different to the agria we use which i cant get from suppliers. I will try my best to sort you out come in and see me thank you Julian It was polite. I understand about new oil and different potatoes but he made no effort at all to cook me crispy ones. Next time I'm passing and its not a Friday night, ill try again to see if I can get crisper chips.

Heard good things about this chippy so decided to give it a go. My usual warning about fish and chips not being cheap anymore is more true now then ever but this chippy is doing its best to peg prices by the look of its menu. Only ordered savaloy and chips X2. Lightening fast service. Cheerful and polite service from a young man and lady. Food was piping hot and plenty of it for the price £9.40. Chips were perfect and I don't say that lightly! Savaloy was very good, super large and suitably peppery. No superfluous fat was apparent. All served up in a cardboard tray and wrapped in the usual white paper. Both portions were then put into a paper carrier bag. All in all top class food very well presented and I think environmentally friendly (no plastics).

Been looking for some decent chippy shop chips where there not undercooked and stodgy lol. Sam's fish bar has absolutely smashed exactly the taste and quality I was trying to find from younger days!! Kids loved it too and mine have a habit of being VERY picky but now everyday it's "are you getting chips or battered sausage tonight and please please please can I have some" epic food! Very clean! And super friendly to the point staff! Easy 5 stars <3

So love Sam's fish bar, so nice and clean and the food is freshly made with fresh oil not days old oil to make you side. Staff is very friendly. Keep up the good work guys. Love the chip's.
