Harbour Fish Bar in Mid Sussex

Been using this fish & chip take away for years ( Felbridge.) Always been high standard and good portion size. Usually ring & pick up. Never a problem. Today ordered for delivery. 2 large cod & chips. Delivered cold ‘fries’ in chicken box ( like kids meal!) Not good!!😡

1st visit. Friendly counter person for take away. Fish portions very small for the price. Chips were dry and not very fresh. I've definitely had better.

Sad, but true. If you order on a Saturday for delivery and they give you a time of one hour for deliver don’t ever believe it. Over 45 minutes late you chase them and they say really busy will be another 15 minutes, which it won’t be and apologies seem hollow. Two hours for fast food, just go in person as they clearly prioritise walk-ins over their deliveries.

Harbour are always spot on! Lovely and friendly staff too.

Disgusting! The worst fish and chips we’ve had. Ordered online and they waited well over 90mins. Upon arrival the food was lukewarm, fish had more batter than actual fish, chips were made from 2nd or even 3rd grade potatoes. The chicken burger was tasteless with just a few strips of chicken and lettuce. Never again!

Updated: I'm pleased to report the fish quality is back to being top notch which restores the Harbor Fish Bar to it's well deserved place as the best Chippy around!

The very best fish and chips I have ever eaten in the car! The cod was really flaky and tasty and the batter was super crisp. I tried out the homemade tartar sauce, well worth the visit. Next time I'm visiting East Grinstead I'll be back for more.

I rarely if ever post negative reviews. Ordered via just eat at approx 1720 with delivery expected 1805-1825. 1828 it said the food had been delivered. It hadnt. Called up and though understandably busy I was told my food was next to come out. 1850 still no food. Messaged via just eat and told that food wouldn't arrive until 1920. 1908 I requested some money back and the order was just cancelled their end. It's busy and I get it but if you can't fulfil an order then don't advertise a time and Def don't say it's the next order going out when it clearly wasn't. Disappointed

Have bought our fish chips there for 7 years now. Very Happy up to now but having to buy online now- a total disaster. Their online site has been thrown together by an escapee from 'Bedlam!! John A Simmons

Food excellent, fast delivery excellent quality

they did not give me proper chips, just oven fries and gave me mushy peas instead of normal peas. i also ordered fanta and got tango. my battered sausage was not right and i am not happy with the amount of money i spent

Visiting the area from Lincolnshire, staff in Waitrose recommended this and it was superb. Haddock and Chips, a bit pricey compared to ooop north but very tasty. Staff very friendly. Will be back before we go home.

Best fish and chips in East Grinstead

Bought fish and chips on a night out. Portions were notably smaller and disguised in an oversized box and bag. Fish was of good quality, chips were not at their best. Also as it was a takeaway we didn't realise till we opened the package, there were no serviettes or forks. So a one time only visit.

The food is excellent, but even more so all the guys are so friendly and really know customer experience - great smiles!

3rd time there this evening. Just as nice as before.

Sencond time I’ve been here now , asked for skinless cod and chips, cod still had skin on it, fish was of poor quality and and over cooked! A real shame don’t think I will go back a 3rd time

If I could give 0 I would. I got no idea where good reviews come from. A chip shop that don't do cheese! So I'll have steak and kidney pie, none available. Settled with mince pie. Top of pie burnt hard solid, bottom soggy. Chips cold. All tasted stale worst chip shop meal I have ever had

We had large cod and chips twice and pie and chips. Mushy peas with the cod. Extremely generous portions and very tasty! Would highly recommend 10 out of 10.

I get fish & chips here every week for an elderly friend. I get her the child's size portion (£5.50) which is the perfect size for her. It makes her week! She looks forward to it so much. The food is delicious - the fish is white & tasty , batter crispy & the chips are perfect. I get a nice welcome too every week. Both branches of The Harbour are great - Ship St & Felbridge. We are lucky to have such great fisn 'n chip shops on our doorstep!

Tonight we had row and chips very disappointing. The row was more like a childs portion really small, and about 1/2 inch thick Chips were OK but a lot of them were black. Probably won't be going back there.

Lovely young girl served me. Bit stingy on the curry sauce, though, so they could actually fill the pot, seeing as it's so small! Fish (haddock) and chips were good, though, although a tad on the dry side.

Freshly cooked and delicious! I have been going there for years and never been disappointed.

Good fish and chips and associated food items. My wife had a small cod. We shared the chips. I had a chicken burger, which consisted of a number of small breaded fillets. A little bit pricy...

By far the best fish and chips in the area. We always go for a small haddock and chips, which is plenty. It's very well run with quick service, despite being very popular (ie lots of customers).

We regularly order from Harbour Fish Bar and they never let us down. Their fish and chips is spot on and their southern fried chicken is amazing. Ordering is easy and efficient. The Staff are friendly and competent. I highly recommend this place!

Always consistently great Fish and Chips. The Gluten free Tuesday's are a fantastic idea. I tried a gluten free Hadock today as my mum has gluten free as does a friend and it was delicious!! Also the home made tartar sauce has to be tried. 😋

Went to the Chippy again last week and still some of the best we have tasted and booked online to collect and got a good discount. Arrived at time booked and walked out with food less than 5mins later. Thoroughly recommended

This is the best Fish & Chip takeaway/restaurant I’ve been privileged to taste. Everything cooked fresh, fish is skinned and it’s served crisp and moist but not dripping in fat! As with most F&C’s these days 2 fish and 1 chips will suffice for two adults. Throughly enjoyed our dinner tonight (Cod and Huss) and was our second visit. Many returning regulars, and I counted at least 7 staff, you don’t get that busy unless your excellent!

Just got a takeaway of sausage in batter and chips x2 cost £9.00 , this was absolutely inedible, this was lunchtimes reheated good and absolutely disgusting, the chips we burnt in places where they had been sitting around for hours and the batter on the sausage was rock hard where it had been sitting in the heat all day , if I get food poisoning I will be ringing the environmental health officer at the council , I will never go in here again , this has happened before I should have learnt my lesson .

Very good tasty, food, the fish is fresh and cook to order in a crispy batter. they offer a range of batters to cover people needs or even lightly batter your fish? Very friendly and helpful staff who all ways seem happy, even on busy nights. Now you can order on line and collect your order.

Still come here for cod and chips even though i do not live here anymore the fish melts in your mouth and the chips are nice and crispy well worth a visit once here your come back again and again not to mention the staff are helful and friendly

Excellent large cod and chips. Better than Blackpools award winning chippy. Only ones that do better are in Cornwall at The Lizard (fish of the day from Cadgwith Cove) and Rick Stein at Padstow.

Just had to give feedback on the absolutely wonderful fish and chips we had yesterday evening. We’ve eaten from here previously and also from your Felbridge branch which are always good but last night’s was exceptional. The batter, the chips, the fish. Service was brilliant on pick up too. I don’t know what you were doing differently but stick with it. It was amazing 😊

Delicious fish & chips, reasonably priced and great sized portions. My go to whenever i fancy fish and chips- It blows all the others out of the water. Great addition of online ordering now too- Saves a wait at the shop.

I couldn’t recommend a better fish bar in the area if I tried. Fish is skinned which allows to enjoy all of it, without having to exclude half the batter along the bottom because it has the skin attached. The chips compete with any other shops’ in the area, and I am a personal fan of its easily recyclable cardboard packaging, as opposed to endless wraps of paper.

Just picked up Skate and Chips for my husband - it was such a large skate and my husband said it was absolutely delicious- Harbour Fish Bar - Felbridge always a lovely meal from there and the staff are lovely too - thank you again 😊😊😊

This small restaurant serves a good variety of fish with proper chips. There is an eat in option but we took away using their carton boxes. Delicious and not greasy so really enjoyed.

Even whilst on a British holiday at the beach eating others fish n chips you wish that harbour fish bar had come on holiday with you as others fail to match the taste and quality.

My wife paid a visit to this restaurant and ordered fish and chips , sausage and chips which were smashing. Friendly and warm customer service. Use again Wye Aye.

I regularly order fish and chips from here for my family. Just lately on a couple of occasions I have organised fish and chip suppers for the retirement sector that I work in. On both occasions, the food has been outstanding. The fish is so fresh and succulent and flaky, and the chips are well cooked without being greasy. I cannot thank the staff, as these nights are very special and my residents look forward to them as the food is so delicious. We look forward to our next event in Feb.

So hungry + so disappointed at this early hour on traditional fish Friday, l tapped on the glass to ask if there were any fries left - l presumed closed due to no more fish.She stood 6 inches away from me pretending l wasn't there then laughed back at the counter staffMy one star is for a rotten attitude (unkind) not for poor quality mentioned in some reviews. Businesses + small towns need repeat custom from a good reputation. Treating senior citizens and anyone else as they would like to be treated themselves when disappointed to find somewhere closed is basic business logic to keep their jobs.To give her the benefit for being so fed up + grunty, she probably presumed l was a local who knew well knew their custom of very early closing. The rest of the eateries were still buzzing.People l told it was a Fish Shop closed at 9pm Friday commented 'why bother opening?'
