The Farmyard Kitchen in Mid Sussex

Have been going here for years without issue. Today I took my visiting parents here for a cooked breakfast. We sat down and had to wait for 15 min before one of the 2 staff came to take our order (she was eating her breakfast at a table when we arrived!) Very rude and blunt when taking our order. Waited a long time for it to arrive and when it did my order was wrong. I informed the staff and she appologied. When the missing item did arrive some 5 min later, it wasn’t cooked! I tried to return it to the staff but both were outside the kitchen back door smoking, so I left it on the side. When they came back in they ignored that it was there and just continued to talk. Never once did they ask “everything ok?” Or “how was your food?” Won’t be coming here again.

A quick tasty lunch. I had the bacon, sausage and egg sandwich 🥪 😋 lovely stuff!!

I am rating the farm shop a high rating as they have many fresh meat and poultry farm products. Aged beef is a high mark product.

We enjoy the quality of the Grange Farm Shop food and always intended to eat at the Farmyard Kitchen just opposite but it was always bustling. Today the weather was no so great and there was no school holiday so we decided to eat here. We found out what we had been missing all this time. We ordered the lamb burger and venison burger with the added stack of cheese and loads of cheese and salad garnish.- both burgers supplied by the farm shop. The lovely Katie cooked and built our burgers into a work of art. The bun was huge. The burgers were perfect, really tasty and also had good texture. One portion of chips between us and we couldn`t eat them all. It would have been nice to have had a beer but hey ho, we had the best burgers we`ve had in a long time, they didn`t even need sauces on them. Can`t wait to try the tuna cheese melt next time as that is another benchmarker for good, reasonably priced food.

They clearly take freshness seriously. You get the impression that, when you order an egg, they have to wait for the chicken to lay one. Tectonic plates move faster than the table service, providing plenty of time for you to appreciate the cigarette-butt littered car park. The good news is that when the food arrives it is of adequate quality, and amply portioned. If you’ve got all week to wait, and like it greasy, then this may be the place for you.

Been here a handful of times now and last time today. Customer service lacks. Waited over an hour for our food, table of 5 but 1 was a cold meal. We see cyclists come in, order, get served and leave before we see our food. That's not acceptable. If your running behind on a order you shouldn't be making other peoples food! Menu has all changed aswell so instead of ordering a normal meal you need to specify each individual item. The food didnt even make up for the length of time we waited for it. Such a disappointment all around. We see elderly people come in and be ignored for 30 minute until they decided to leave without any food. The place was rather empty except from us. If you cant serve a few people in a acceptable amount of time your better off shutting your doors for good! Or hiring some capable staff! Will 100% avoid and be passing this through to my friends family and customers.

My wife and I popped in for breakfast and WOW! Simply delicious. Quality produce, you can really taste the difference. The staff were friendly and always smiling. Real value for money. This really is a hidden gem. Brilliant.

Small friendly cafe /restaurant. Good menu and seating is limited inside due to the size of cabin. Some seating outside. Staff are friendly the food is nice. There is toilet but it's porta loo, and unfortunately I don't recommend it unless desperate. It is a shared toilet for men /women so you can imagine the smell after a few days! 😬 Great prices and there are some chickens and ducks to see as well as a farmers shop where you can buy meat and veg, sometimes you can buy upcycled item's at good prices too. Example wine wrack made from old horse shoes, who knew eh! Worth a pop in and a quick break. Dogs are welcome but not inside the cabin. Not wheelchair friendly due to steps into cabin but ok outside. Closed at 2pm

I came here during the summer while going through an awful break up. I was having a terrible time and felt like the world was against me- until these two lovely young ladies changed that. They provided me with lovely services, had very enthusiastic voices that almost made the food taste better, if that's even possible. If I ever come here again, which I probably will, I'd like to see these two young ladies again. Absolutely made my month! Delicious food as well.

Second visit today and I thought the food plus price was reasonable on both occasions but customer service isn't great. Such a shame.

I just wanted to say how superb this little cafe is! I was in the area this morning so I popped in for breakfast and I’m so glad I did. All the produce is locally sourced, mainly from the farm shop opposite. The bubble and squeak is absolutely delicious and although the girls where quite busy, the service from them was fantastic.

Young lady was very helpful and polite. We had a farmers breakfast and it was amazing. No cheap rubbish, all fresh farm food cooked to perfection and a bargain price! Best fried bread and bubble I have ever had. Makes a great cuppa tea too. I will be back for more soon!

I think 5 stars is a misleading rating overall. The ingredients that are sourced from the farm store are good: meats, but the baguetter bread was stale. Maybe we were unlucky, but we were made to feel like we shoud not have shown up. The cafe is run out of the Horley cafe, so not so "farm yard".

I have read the previous reviews on this wonderful place You clearly do not no what you are talking about!! We are frequent visitors of the farmyard,also when being lazy...delivery too. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection, snd breakfast is the best around the area If you have a big appetite highly recommend the hungry falmer Everything is clean,and the go the xtra mile for my child who is a fussy eater Love the staff the love food Ladies carry on your good work will be in again soon

I read the reviews as I was only visiting the area and then had the opportunity to visit this establishment this morning . I find it very hard to see how anyone could find anything negative with this place. This staff are spot on and the place is spotlessly clean well organised and COVID friendly the food is great and the portions are good. I am happy to recommend this to anyone looking for a clean and well organised place to eat

Perfect break stop for cyclists with tasty cakes and water tap for refills

Awful. Poor hygiene, no covid awareness, ran out of clean cups after 4 customers so we did takeaway. Ordered hot chocolates and they were undrinkable . After asking for them extra hot, they were barely warm and tasted like powdered milk and sugar. Sickly and disgusting. Will not go back. We adore the farm shop and visit weekly so thought we would support the cafe while we were there. Highly recommend the farm shop but sadly cannot recommend the cafe.

Wonderful local quality food, freshly cooked in front of you, great coffee, in and outdoors seating (but you don’t leave smelling of a fry-up if you eat inside!), loads of parking, fun and friendly staff….this is definitely the right place to go!!

Has to be one of the nicest places I’ve been for a long time I’ve been to the one in Crawley down and it’s as good to see the food is the same in there new place in Horley recreation park absolutely outstanding service and food could not have been better looked after.The alfresco dining looking over the park was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine just like being on holiday especially with a nice cold bottle of Prosecco this Saturday morning ever

Popped in for a bite to eat on a grey, rainy Saturday. I had a superb fish finger sandwich with gorgeous home made tartare sauce on incredibly fresh bread. My husband is still raving about his beautifully cooked pigeon burger. Will be popping into the on-site farm shop and butchers before we go. Lovely people, great food and very reasonably priced. Consider us regulars.

What a wonderful find this is. The best breakfast ever and friendly, chatty owner willing to go the extra mile. Nice cup of tea in a large bone china mug followed by an excellent breakfast. Piping hot, fresh ingredients cooked to order - no pinging of the microwave :) I can highly recommend the 'bubble' - it is delicious and home made - not out of the freezer. Plenty of hand sanitizer available and a small eating area outside where the chickens often roam around the yard.

Visited today after trying to find somewhere close to the Worth Way to split up our walkOrdered the farmers breakfast for £7. Amazing breakfast with the best fried bread that isn’t dripping in fat-Egg-Beans-Mushrooms-Sausage (not the cheap plastic ones)-Bacon-Fried bread-Bubble and SqueakBest breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Great breakfast and a great atmosphere

Ideal for a quick coffee stop on a cycle ride down to Brighton. Unfortunately their coffee machine had broken when we visited, however the staff were offering alternatives which kept us fuelled en-route. Follow the signs saying "cyclists welcome"

Been to this cafe 3 times now and each time the breakfast has been soooo yummy and great value for money. We have been looking a long time now for a breakfast cafe that does fried bread NOT swimming in fat and this cafe certainly delivers. The bubble and squeek addition for breakfast is a revelation!

Got recommended this place by my Mum. The breakfast was delicious. Generous portions, sausages were high quality, fried bread and bubble and squeak super yummy. We even broke down there and the staff were so helpful and lovely. Will definitely be returning!

This is the best place around for breakfast. Really quick, fresh and local food that tastes great. Generous portions and they allow you to customise anything. Nothing is too much for the staff there, they are so friendly and welcoming. We regularly go and it's always a high standard, lunches are very good too. Lovely to sit outside when warmer, they also do takeaway and delivery too. Highly recommend.

Always on the lookout for a new breakfast spot and stumbled upon this place during my research. Its only a small café seating maybe 25 but was clean and comfortable and friendly. Breakfast was very good. One of the best I have had in a very long time and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going again. Many locals in their by the looks of it and that is always a good sign.

Really very nice. Popped in for a very quick bite whilst on my way down to Brighton by bike as needed a break from the horrendous traffic on the B2028. Carrot cake was fantastic. Leaving the bike out front is also totally not a problem without a lock and there is a rack. Excellent service, definitely recommend this place for anyone passing through the area.

Popped in here with my 3 year old son as we were after some fresh eggs from the farm shop and glad we did! We had a cooked breakfast and scrambled eggs all cooked fresh in front of us and it was all high quality and very tasty. The service was excellent friendly and they made a big fuss of my son, which is always nice.Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Just run a four day camping festival for 130 people. Eddie catered the whole event, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Great food, good prices (and good portions!). Vegans and vegetarians were catered for, and as organiser, they were so helpful and flexible. Plus Eddie serves a mean gin & tonic. Highly recommended!

Went to a festival where Farmyard Kitchen were doing the catering. Excellent food, really good portions and options for me as a vegan. Also very accommodating, made snacks at odd times, etc. Friendly lovely staff, spotless van. Would hire for an event and planning a bike ride to try out their cafe.

We randomly came across the sign while cycling to Brighton. Stopped for a snack and a drink...but when we saw the food we had breakfast. All of our food was tasty and the staff were super friendly. Definitely worth a stop

We were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to try this for breakfast. Difficult to find as the directions from Trip Advisor via Apple maps are wrong. We eventually found it by searching for Grange Farm in Google maps. Glad we did as we enjoyed a very tasty find breakfast sat outside in the morning sun. Much better and cheaper than the hotel buffet!

We asked them to come over to our office and feed 60+ staff for lunch treat. They cooked in time for requested starting time, and foods were delicious. Beef Burger is their signature one and must have. If any company is looking for mobile foods van in their car park, I strongly recommend The Farmyard Kitchen. Everyone will be surely happy.

Well, what can I say? We were staying in a Premier Inn in Felbridge but decided to venture further afield to find a decent breakfast and I’d managed to find this little gem online. A lovely friendly welcome and a great breakfast. Fabulous sausages and bacon produced by the farm next door, and it was a lovely day so we sat outside listening to the chickens! Great coffee too. Thank you. The icing on the cake is the farm shop next door. All sorts of goodies (some good birthday cards too), great lamb chops which we had last night and looking forward to a t-bone on the BBQ later.

We hired these guys to bring their food van along to our private mini festival for a joint 40th Birthday. On the build up, I was in communication with Debbie. She was amazing. Really quick to reply to texts and emails. Bent over backwards to for-fill our requirements. Over the weekend, Ed and his daughter Kirsty worked their absolute socks off, serving our 120 hungry guests morning to early evening. They were so lovely, everyone had a good chat with them and at the end they felt like a part of the crew.

Had these guys cater for our recent 120-strong 3 day weekend party...they were super on it, proper Duracell bunnies, serving up delish food with smiles and relaxed chat. I attended an event where The Farmyard Kitchen trailer was serving food. Over the course of the weekend I had a Full English Breakfast, a bacon and sausage roll, and a Cheeseburger from them. I've been to many events and festivals where that sort of food has been fine but nothing to write home about. This was an exception. The sausages in the Full English were perfect, and my burger was both delicious and 'substantial'. I believe that all of the meat is directly sourced from local farms which is why it was all so good. Thoroughly recommended!

Some friends hired these guys for a birthday and they did such an amazing job. Food was so good and all homemade or locally sourced. Highly recommended these guys. Such friendly people.

Ate from their food van several times this weekend past when they catered a friend's party. The staff are so friendly and accommodating - they were able to cater for our dairy free needs, and even my fussy toddler loved the food (this is the highest praise there is!) Epic breakfast thanks guys!

I found this hidden gem on TripAdvisor and went there for an early breakfast today. Debbie was the cook and provided a very large English breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns and fried bread) plus a large cup of filter coffee for £10. Great food and great value.

It’s been awhile since I was here last when it was just a mobile catering van but now they have an 18 seater sit down that has Ilovely feel about it set on grange farm opposite the farm shop where they get there produce from (you can’t get closer than that)and have to say even all the 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in none of them can hold a candle to the breakfasts this is my new go to place

Alway stop off hear on my way back from the airport . Always have a fresh cooked breakfast with the local Ingredients from the farm shop next door with its great . Staff are alway friendly and helpful.

The Farmers was had and what a feast of local products for £6 you can't go wrong, including fried bread & bubble, lovely Will be doing Pie, Mash & Liquor when they can source the Pies, can't wait

I went here yesterday with my mum , nan and 3year old daughter . Food was lovely I had a tuna roll my mum and nan had sausage in a roll and they were very helpful in making my daughter a fried egg with toast . They do the breakfasts all day it's lovely and clean and the two ladies that were there yesterday were so nice and friendly , nothing was too much trouble .

Ate here last weekend and loved every mouthful of the breakfast. Very simple set up but excellent quality and great value for money. I will be back many many times.

I have been coming here for two years. The food is always good, Very friendly owner, nice little restaurant which is now a sit down type restaurant. Nothing Fancy. Exceptionally clean. Very Fair prices. Whether you are a local or just visiting the area; you won't be disappointed.

If you want locally sourced food then this is the place to go. All food is sourced from the farm where they are situated. They have just changed from a mobile kitchen to a cafe tea room with plenty of seating. Definitely worth driving the extra mile to come here. Delicious!!

A large Camping and Caravanning Meet at Hickstead was serviced by this company, the food was so good and the price was also good thus despite having plenty of food in our caravan we ate all meals with them. Very friendly service as well. Others on site were also very complimentary. If you see their trailer on site somewhere try them out you will not be disappointed.

The Farmyard Kitchen were at Hickstead Showground for the Camping and Caravanning NFOL, they served all of their meals etc. and then went out of their way to sell fruit, veg, bread etc. as the shop that was booked for the event for some reason did not arrive. They were busy the whole weekend and good luck to them, all food etc. excellent.

Fabulous freshly made food using locally sourced ingredients. Can thoroughly recommend the fish finger sandwich with homemade tartar sauce!! Nicely tucked away with Grange Farm Shop so you must pop in & but some local produce.

We were in the middle of nowhere when we stumbled on this little catering van. It's run by a super helpful lady with years of experience cooking for a posh school. She sorted us out with a really tasty vegan wrap. Cyclists would love it if you're in the area.

Seriously the best mobile food I have ever tasted. Amazingly cooked amazing ingredients and all local and fresh. The burgers are to die for. This lady has taken mobile food to a new level. Would highly recommend this company.

What a lovely couple. They worked so hard over this long weekend. Always had a smile. I am diabetic so unfortunately I couldn't have anything, but Edward said he could always get something for me if I let him know the day before! My husband had a cheeseburger with chili sauce, he said it was so good he went straight back and got another one! ( he doesn't usually eat fast food!)

What a great lady who runs this food outlet. (With her partner doing the fetching and carrying) They were at our rally and worked non stop for the 4 days we were there. The food was great, service was great and always with a smile and chat. Would highly recommend them if you have an event and you need catering on site. Great little find. Stopped of to shop at the Grange Farm shop and there was this little gem. We were just about ready for lunch so gave it a go. Wow, will certainly eat here again. Great variety and imagination. Uses a lot of the local produce straight from the farm. A delight!!

Tasty breakfast in a baguette, food was full of flavour, perfectly cooked &served in a farmyard with chickens running around my feet. What a wonderful fresh outdoor eating experience. Nothing better.

Lovely setting to enjoy breakfast on the go stopped here in between jobs food was amazing the whole area was clean and lovely and the lady working was so friendly and nice will be back again x

Had a homemade cheese burger from this establishment was very impressed with the quality of the food and the lady that cooked it for us was very chatty will definitely use this place again when in the area thanks again for a amazing burger look forward to trying something else on your menu see you soon.
