Lovely location, bar staff polite. Downside rooms dated and very creaky flooring and noise from adjoining rooms despite occupants not intending to be loud. Promised a 7.45 breakfast but no staff on site by 8.00 when we left.

First time to the Royal Standard with family, Outside setting was very nice and was a nice day too, food good and a really great menu with a lot of choices, I have to mention the service we had from a blonde lady Dace (hope spelling is good) who engaged with our little one and she was making sure we are taking care of and we really had a great time, see you again soon.

This lovely old pub is well worth a visit. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is 'proper' - quality food served piping hot. The only criticism (hence the lack of 5 stars) is that the Whitebait was a disappointment; being larger than usual and therefore not served as whole. Small sardines instead? The roasted tomato soup was a triumph!

Booked an outside pod as the weather was good. Very nice environment for dinner. Was a Friday evening and pretty busy. Staff were very friendly on arrival. Drinks and food ordered quickly, and everything arrived pretty quickly. We had an issue with my daughter’s order but that was sorted pretty promptly which was good. It’s a real bugbear of mine…. But it did take 5 mins or so to get 2 small bowls of ketchup and mayo. I can’t stand this as we are all just waiting watching our food get cold! Easy fix surely, just put out squeezy bottles on the table? It might look a bit naff but it works. The food was excellent, although the burgers/chips probably could do with a salad on the side for £19. Thank you!

We went to The Crown for Easter Lunch with our friends, we had such a lovely time. The food, service and atmosphere was all perfect. The Easter egg hunt they put on for the children was really fun. We love coming to The Crown, it never disappoints.

Initial impressions very good, lovely situated pub with good seating outside on Sun terrace in late afternoon and evening. Met by Bar staff who showed us the room , no instructions regards logistics of place, given keys to work out ( one key was for room other for fire exit when pub locked at night we worked out next morning. Room quite tired needs an uplift, only one towel, no bulb in bedside light and en suite had broken tiles and crack running through sink. Ate at pub, Nepalese food very good but had to return other food as not warm enough (twice) kindly they did not charge for this, have to say staff were very good throughout. We arranged with them for a 7.45 breakfast as we were travelling to London at 9.00 and they said they would open up specially… we went off to bed quite happy with that. I think there are 4 bedrooms all on same corridor above pub, pub noise was no issue, however it appears every room has creaky flooring and paper thin walls, despite persons not intentionally making noise it was very difficult to sleep, think it was about 5 hours of sleep between last ones getting to bed and us having to get up at 6.45am. Next morning we waited until 8.00 unable to access the pub and no sign of life within kitchen entrance… headed off with no breakfast. Paid for a 2 night stay but left before staying 2nd. Could be a fantastic place just needs a bit TLC in some areas and customer service improvements.

We held my Mum's 'Celebration of Life' at the Plough yesterday and thanks to Paola and Raphael it was more of a lovely party, which is exactly what Mum would have loved. I had told Paola that Mums favourite flowers were pink and they had put lots of lovely vases of fabulous arrangements around the pub, and not just a handful of Tuilips, but great vases of roses and all sorts. We also asked them to offer 'Bellini's' to people on arrival which they did and the wine was delicious as was all the food. The staff were friendly but professional and the chefs worked hard. A sad day was made bearable thanks to these guys and the setting was perfect for our 50 or so guests who sat in the comfortable chairs or mingled around the table and chairs. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough for any occassion. Thanks again to them all.

We were really impressed with this cosy, friendly little village pub. A very elegant, well-spoken young lady showed us to our table and we all enjoyed a really good meal. The Rebellion ale was every bit as good as I remember it and the steak and kidney pie couldn't have been better. Finally, the bill was perfectly reasonable. A great evening out.
