The Red lion Pub is a delightful escape that offers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff made me feel right at home. Now, let’s talk about the venison—it's simply the best I've ever had! Cooked to perfection, it was incredibly tender and bursting with rich flavor. The chef’s expertise shone through with a perfectly balanced seasoning that enhanced the meat's natural qualities. Paired with a luscious red wine reduction and seasonal root vegetables, each bite was a heavenly experience. If you’re looking for a charming country pub with outstanding venison, The Red lion is an absolute must-visit!

We came across this pub on a wintery Sunday exploring the area. We had 2 roast porks that were cooked to perfection, lots of veg and potatoes to fill our hungry bellies. A proper country pub with great food and great prices. Highly recommend!

1st off, definitely book in advance. I'm glad I did as it filled up very quickly on the day I went. We had roast beef, and I must say the meat was superb. It's not tough at all . Do order extra veg though, as not quite enough, to be honest. Open fire in the main area, which was very nice, Dog friendly in the eating area as we saw. The only letdown I found was that we ordered our food and other tables who arrived after we did were served before us . The menu does look very good with a good selection of dishes

I stayed in the B&B last night and was initially greeted by a very helpful young lady (sorry I didn't get your name) . Room was clean and comfortable with a comfy mattress and good quality clean pillows and bedding. Tea / coffee and biscuits were provided and the bathroom had all of the usual shampoos and both washes. I ate dinner in the bar which was delicious and competitively priced. As a lone traveller I felt safe and comfortable. Waking to the sound of the birds outside was an unexpected positive. Breakfast this morning was again delicious and served by a really friendly young lady. It would have been nice to have either some music or the news on though as it was a bit quiet. A great stay would recommend and will come again. Thank you for your hospitality.

We held my Mum's 'Celebration of Life' at the Plough yesterday and thanks to Paola and Raphael it was more of a lovely party, which is exactly what Mum would have loved. I had told Paola that Mums favourite flowers were pink and they had put lots of lovely vases of fabulous arrangements around the pub, and not just a handful of Tuilips, but great vases of roses and all sorts. We also asked them to offer 'Bellini's' to people on arrival which they did and the wine was delicious as was all the food. The staff were friendly but professional and the chefs worked hard. A sad day was made bearable thanks to these guys and the setting was perfect for our 50 or so guests who sat in the comfortable chairs or mingled around the table and chairs. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough for any occassion. Thanks again to them all.

First Impressions, I was informed online that The Crown was open this morning, I visited to get a coffee and to have a look at how the alleged 3 Million had been spent, had to use the side door marked for ‘partners’, whatever that means? Was told that the pub was closed for another 30 minutes, so I had a quick look around . First impressions saddened me greatly, this is a lesson on how to ruin a country pub. What do I mean? The design theme is exactly what you would expect from a city centre refurbished hotel lobby, in my brief review there is of course no connection to the pubs history. This includes the fact that the new staff had no idea that I had been a customer of this pub for 37 years (a local) because the new management remove all bar one of the original greatly valued staff, well done. The only reason there is any sign of the character of the previous pub, is because it is a listed building. This refurb is pretentious and out of place, but will be great for group selfies. Boo hoo,, another great pub bites the dust.

Booked a table for my husband and I on a Friday evening. Pub has a lovely buzz about it, and each and every staff member we spoke with was polite, friendly and helpful. We ate squid and mushrooms to start and burger and fish and chips for main. All the food was super tasty. Such a gem of a pub in the village centre, welcoming atmosphere and delicious food.
