What a find. After a lovely long walk we were welcomed by the team and were pleasantly surprised by the fabulous menu with my all time favourite cassoulet. Thoroughly recommend

Just had a wonderful lunch at this beautiful little pub. Food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Partridge and my girlfriend had the pork belly. Both were delicious 😋. Both the lady that served us and the gentleman that brought our food were extremely friendly and overall the service was great. I would highly recommend this pub for lunch/dinner or just for a few drinks. The pub has a lovely cosy atmosphere and I will definitely be coming back!

This was my 70th birthday surprise meal meal. The food was first class. Homemade, delicious, and generous portions. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and all that is left to say is that I would highly recommend a visit and definitely come again.

Pleasant Sunday lunch in the garden. Roast lunch was ok - lukewarm and meat quite underdone. Roast potatoes quite soggy. Huge portions. Under seasoned. Adequate but not great.

Popped in for a pint on a seven mile walk. It is more gastro than pub, most people were there for Sunday lunch from an extensive menu, there's only a small bar area but the Timothy Taylor I had was excellent. Comfortable garden at the front on a sunny warm day, nicely busy but I easily got a seat. Overheard friendly and knowledgeable team serving others at the tables. I mark as 4 because a pint and some cashews cost £9 - very much London prices but I guess it's a wealthy area and it's more a restaurant than a local to hang out in. I'll come here for a meal one day.

This place is absolutely slept on! I’ve been coming to the UK for 25 years and I always seek out highly rated restaurants. I only managed to find it, as it’s somewhat remote, because it’s near my in-laws. If a food influencer ever somehow stumbled into this place you won’t be able to get a table, not sure if that’s a good thing. Still one of the most memorable places I’ve eaten in England.

Cracking birthday dinner for our family of 9, 4 adults and 5 kids. Had a full on 3 course meal, discovered the pub by accident. Will definitely be back, great food, great service. Thanks!

Delicious food. All four of us highly satisfied with our meals. There was a large choice of options to pick from, with seasonal specials. There were a few errors with our order, which let it down a bit, but minor issues that were quickly sorted. Thank you.

This was the only venue I phoned to host a Wake for my late Mother that was really friendly and helpful. I went for one down from the best Buffet which included cold food such as Quiche & Sandwiches and hot food such as Chicken & Fish Goujons with Fries. Open bar. The owners & staff were very friendly and accomodating, especially Mary who took my initial call. Would have been 5 * but there was no information about food animal welfare apart from the meat being British. Would have been great had any Pork or Chicken products been at least higher welfare (but short of Free Range although that of course would be perfect). Thanks for your response (editing my review appears to be the only way of coming back to you on Google). I'm very pleased to hear that your Lamb & Pork are Free Range from a very local farm. I tend to think of Beef as being not intensely reared in this country (like Lamb) so that leaves Chicken and Eggs. It would be much appreciated if you could work towards using e.g. only Red Tractor or similar approved Chicken & Eggs. You could then mention animal welfare on your website and discreetly on the Menu.

Great garden to sit out and catch a bite on a sunny spring day

Booked last minute and it was a pleasant surprise. Lovely scenic outdoor garden. The food is well presented, delicious and cooked to perfection. Great service and very welcoming.

Excellent Sunday roast lamb lunch - there are other options. Will go again!

Had the Christmas lunch. You expect to pay more on 25th December, but at £125 a head you expect something special. It wasn't. The salmon starter was tiny. The Turkey dinner had 2 tiny piglets in blankets, a tiny bit of stuffing and the only veg was cabbage and sprouts. No pork as advertised and no gammon. Service was very slow, cheese board took 45 minutes to arrive because it had to be 'perfect'. It was cheese sliced up. Best avoided on Christmas day imo.

Rubbish pub and people, made a lunch booking for a walking group of twenty plus as their website stated "walking Groups are a speciality, sent out all the details, only to be contacted by the pub a couple of weeks later saying they had had a better offer and we needed to rebook on a different day. Luckily we had another pub in Amersham to go to. Probably just as well we ended up with twenty eight hungry and very thirsty walkers to be fed. We won't be booking here again.

I had soup to start...Red pepper and pesto with gorgeous sourdough bread. The soup was the best I have ever eaten. The pie was beautiful, tarragon and great quality ingredients stood out. Lovely country pub atmosphere. I absolutely recommend.

A little gem of a pub, nestled in the small village of Coleshill. Such a warm welcome from the staff and genuinely amazing food. A cracking roast and a sticky toffee pudding that beats the best restaurants in London.

Brilliant countryside pub. Popped in for lunch and a pint with the pup on a muddy circular walk from Amersham. Staff couldn't have been friendlier and the pork belly, as noted on the menu is sourced from a farm a few miles away, was possibly the best I've ever had. can't wait to get back, just a perfect spot.

Up for a Sunday roast and a couple of pints? This place is excellent. Good service and lovely food. Quite pricey. Surprised to find a traditional pub on the outside is actually a modern restaurant on the inside but well worth booking. Nice people.

The perfect village pub! We went here on a Thursday evening, and were greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff (including the pub dog). The service was brilliant and the food was excellent. Great flavours and very ample portions. Would highly recommend a visit and will be going here again ourselves.

Beautiful old pub. At the heart of the village. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great home cooked food. Large menu that was eclipsed by the specials board. Well worth a visit Friday lunchtime was busy so probably worth booking.

Only had a drink here after a walk from Amersham. Very friendly welcome, garden front and back and a nice indoor space. Looks like a lovely place to eat and once I do eat there I will review again and update.

We sat in a lovely outside area. The service was excellent and friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and very plentiful. I was kindly given a doggy box to take home what I couldn't eat. It was far too yummy to leave. The wine was perfect and the wine glasses are an unusual and very attractive shape. Will most definitely return !

We were not impressed with this place - there was a horrible taste from whatever oil the chips were fried in. Despite me advising the server that my mother is coeliac (gluten allergy) they put her food out on a porous wooden board and she left with an upset stomach. Tables were sticky. Disappointing meal given the reviews are quite positive. Nice surroundings so maybe better for just drinks. Staff were very pleasant but inattentive.

Great food in lovely surroundings, my son's family moved to the Amersham area at the weekend so tried this pub as the roast choices looked yummy! Thoroughly recommend the Red Lion the food was so good we all made room for their yummy puddings. We will be back!

Don’t know where to start. From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a treat. The pub was packed creating a fantastic atmosphere which you rarely see in pubs these days. We chose to go for the traditional Sunday roast which was stunning. Melt in the mouth pork belly with crunchy crackling lots of fresh veg and the best yorkie I’ve had for a long time. The pub is set in a beautiful location. It’s heart warming to see a “proper pub” doing so well. Kudos to the owners as they have got it right 👍 Don’t miss this one you’ll love it :)

Wild flowers, butterflies and chickens in the sunny garden. Idyllic. The hospitality and food are superb too. Beat avocado salad I’ve ever had. What a relaxing and nourishing way to spend a Saturday afternoon with loved ones. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been to some incredibley expensive michelin star restaurants and experienced disappointment each time. We found The Red Lion and have experienced nothing but amazing food, service and ambience. It is our go to resturant and as we call it "our happy place" Thank you to The Red Lion team. We were in the area and popped in for some lunch, just found it on Google and decided to try it. What a lovely find! Such a lovely place, so friendly. Food was beautifully presented and all freshly made. I had the Goats Cheese and Red onion Tart (one of the nicest I've ever had) it was just delicious, and my partner had the pie of the day. We were having such a lovely time we even stayed for dessert, I would absolutely recommend! Thanks so much for a lovely afternoon Red Lion.

Been here several times...fantastic for either an evening out for drinks or food or a Sunday roast with the kids. They are very patient with the multiple requests to get the kids comfortable. Service is fast and personal and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a visit!
