Can't fault it, food excellent, we all said that after a starter and main, there was no room left for a pud. Just love the garlic mushroom starter it's the star of the show for me. Could almost be considered as a main meal it was so filling.

The food was lovely, Sunday lunch was tasty although yourkshire pud was a bit overdone. Dish and chips was huge but also slightly burnt batter but still nice.

It was a nice day hence nice location drinking outside on the green. Overlooks the main road and car park to one side and green areas to the other side which has wooden benches.

Excellent Sunday roast. Attentive staff.

After seeing good reviews we thought we would try it out but were left very underwhelmed, £20 for a roast lunch which was pretty bland and with the addition of a sharp bit of plastic in the Yorkshire pudding. Friendly staff, lovely big garden and aplay areafor kids

Turned up for a catch up with friends (dog in tow) and was greeted to a very quiet pub on a bank holiday Monday. Somewhat dubious to the understated atmosphere and the simple menu, I was delighted to find Rebellion beer and perfectly poured Guinness alongside a very friendly reception. After ordering the sausage and mash, burgers, and spaghetti bowl between us, we were all blown away at how wonderful the food was. The sausages and burgers in particular were out of this world and as foodies, we particularly appreciated the fact that they were homemade. Highly recommend this place. We will be coming back with dog and child in tow for another proper homemade meal and friendly atmosphere with quality ales.

We assumed we were surely on a hiding to nothing, looking for somewhere that could do lunch for 37 at 24hrs' notice. Enter the Harte & Magpies. I'd been here before as a kid and remembered the play area was great, and now with about a dozen kids in our group we thought this would be a great place for a Sunday lunch with friends. Simon and Steve were exceptional hosts and it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for them. We ordered in advance, and they communicated really well with us both on that and on the day itself re. when the chefs would start cooking etc. The food was delicious, prepared promptly and 37 guests' meals all arrived at the same time, and piping hot. We were really impressed. The kids also had a blast in the garden and the play area. The Harte & Magpies is a great pub, really nice atmosphere and staffed by a fantastic team. I for one am really pleased that traditional pubs like this still exist. Been visiting once a year around Christmas for the past 8 or so years and it had never disappointed. Really good food, a decent range of beers too. Only negative was it was a tiny bit cold but tis literally the middle of winter. Look forward to returning in 2024

Popped in on a Friday evening with my son for some for some dinner - Fish and Chips and pie of a day were a knock out. Decent portions and well cooked. Decent choice of beers on top including Lowenbrau

A lovely country pub which we happened to try on our way back from Cliveden National Trust; we’ll be stopping again! Dog friendly and delicious food at very reasonable prices!

First time at this pub and was impressed with the look of the place and the staff all very polite, the manager Steve served me, he was very warm welcoming and polite, complements to the chef all the food was fab and well worth the money and also was quick to serve. This is a hidden gem in Amersham. I love how friendly the staff and owners are. The food does not disappoint. The only downside for me is I can’t get there enough!!

Called here for tea. We chose the burger, really tasty and plenty of chips come with it. Someone on the next table had fish and chips, all I can say is wow, think a whale on a plate was served to them 😁

An excellent country pub. Decent range of beers, and a traditional menu. Perfect if you're going for an amble round Hodgemoor woods. I went with the pie of the day, and was pleasantly surprised that it was a proper pie with a full pastry case!

On a very pleasant, sunny Wednesday we took a couple of mile walk through bluebell laden woods to the Harte & Magpies. Although a little breezy, it was warm enough to take a table outside and enjoy the sunshine while it lasted. We haven’t been to the Harte & Magpies for a little while but thankfully they’re still selling Rebellion Smuggler so of course a pint was ordered. I was fairly hungry after the walk and so chose the fish & chips whilst my wife chose a small goats cheese salad. When the meal arrived I nearly fell off my chair since the beer battered fish was enormous, with a good portion of chips and mushy peas in accompaniment. The fish looked superb and didn’t disappoint, it was succulent and tasty and the batter was thin and crispy - perfect! I treated it as a bit of a challenge given the size and wouldn’t let it defeat me - it didn’t. I understand that the goat’s cheese salad was very good too. With another half of Smuggler and a coffee the whole meal came to just over £36 - very good value indeed. Fish & chips and a pint and a half of Smuggler enjoyed in the sun - what could beat it? Never have I been more grateful however for a lengthy, post meal, stroll back home. Happy to recommend the Harte & Magpies if you’re after a proper pub delivering good food and ale in a relaxing convivial atmosphere.

After a long journey I was tired hungry and needed coffee. I stopped here and was greeted immediately by a warm cosy atmosphere, a dog lying by the fire, and a very chilled, polite and friendly barman. Very helpful staff, food was served quickly and coffee immediately. The service was excellent, the food was freshly cooked and tasted lovely. I'd very happily go out of my way to return there for another meal.

Led a walk from this pub last Sunday,we were made very welcome, great roast and i can recommend the wonderful Bangers and Mash, the sausage s were to die for.

Friendly bar staff serving up decent homemade food....had pie of the day which was lovely. Henry Westons Cider on draught is a treat too! 😋

A light and airy pub serving traditional pub food. I enjoyed my chicken and ham pie and it was a real change from chicken and mushroom which you normally get in restaurants. The pub owner was very friendly as were the bar staff and they have a well behaved labrador. They serve Vale IPA, so nice to see a pub supporting a small brewery. Well worth a vist.

Ticks all the 'typical British pub' boxes: dark wood furnishings, wood fire, selection of beers, passable kitchen... Had a lot of outdoor space and a small kids playgorund

Food wasn’t the best on the Sunday we dropped in around 2:00pm. We both had roast dinners which had been zapped on a microwave, and for some reason the person behind the bar could not mix a bitter shandy, despite it being taken back once. There was also an out break off flys in the pub, with not blue light fly killers on the walls didn’t make for a very enjoyable meal.

I've never had a bad meal here, and the staff are excellent.

We stopped off after a day out at Clivedon (national trust). It is a lovely pub, the food was delicious and they were very friendly staff. The children (5 & 9) had a great time, enjoyed playing in the play area and big garden area and really enjoyed their food. The kids Margarita pizza was delicious. Highly recommend a stop even just for a drink if your passing by. Also Scrumpy the pub dog was lovely and calm also with the children. Thank you for our very welcoming stop!

A colleague and I were paying this rural pub and stopped for a quick bite. The landlord was very friendly and helpful. Food wise, my colleague and I both ordered baguettes. My bacan, brie and cranberry was lovely. Nice old school pub, big garden for summer and a play area for children. It's by a relatively main road, but most pubs are. Highly recommended and I'd happily go again.

Brilliant the service outstanding we came in for a roast on Sunday ordered at the bar and within 20mins the food was out it was so fresh and piping hot. All the staff where so happy and friendly it was a really calm relaxed atmosphere to enjoy somewhere different. We are definitely coming back and have recommended to all friends and family. Excellent staff and friendly atmosphere for Sunday lunch. A good menu, but no Sunday roast options for vegetarians. Could do with a few more vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. Car park on site. There is a play area for kids and discreet for them to run around.

We stopped for lunch and found the staff were very friendly and helpful the service was quick and efficient. I would recommend the food as it was delicious so well worth a visit. The garden is very large and there are plenty of tables outside to enjoy the sun and a large play house for children to enjoy.

A proper pub !! Went for a drink today after a lovely walk. Great selection of beers, our pint of Neck oil was a perfect pint ! The service was great and the landlord was very welcoming as were the bar staff. Really great experience and we will be returning for food in the future.

Been too the Harte and Magpies several times now, definitely the most family friendly pub in bucks!! Staff are always really friendly and very helpful! The food is absolutely amazing!! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Stopped here on Wednesday for a bite to eat. The landlord and staff were all so friendly and helpful. We were there before midday so before food is served but we were welcomed in and settled at a table with our drinks. The food was delicious and served quickly. Think we have found another hidden gem and would definitely stop here again if we are passing.
