I visited recently and had the most wonderful experience, the staff were amazing and so helpful with both food and drink recommendations and all of the food was delicious! The new look for the pub is great and a stunning change to how it was previously, it looks beautifully refreshed whilst still keeping the character of the building!

I have visited here twice since reopening and both times it was an absolute pleasure. The second visit was with a group of 14 and the staff were fantastic and you cannot fault the food. Shannon on the bar was very helpful at recommending drinks, highly recommend the non-alcoholic wild strawberry spritz.

Used to be a really lovely pub, yes they have had a refurb but the food was abysmal. Steak sandwich that contained 1 WAFER thin piece of ‘steak’, 3 pieces of sliced soggy mushroom a lot of mustard and raclette cheese that severely overpowered any beef flavour. The server didn’t seem too bothered by our comments when asked how our food was. Wine prices are extortionate, £15.90 for a glass of rose!? Service was friendly and warmly greeted at the door. A shame, but won’t be returning. £100 for a very very less than average lunch. Very cheeky prices for a Greene King pub where the food just doesn’t do justice to the asking price.

The starters were nice and the complimentary bread and marmite butter! The roast dinner was awful and an absolute rip off, roast potatoes had been from last weeks I think and the veg had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for too long as they were just soggy and limp… not a nice roast experience at all.. staff were lovely! Just seemed very expensive for sub par food such a shame as the food had such potential But the roast potatoes, gravy and veg were not even worthy of 1 star!

Lovely pub with brand new refurbishment. Atmosphere and staff were lovely and we had a perfect Sunday afternoon with a large group of us and 4 dogs. We didn’t book but were given a lovely area in the bar by the fire. The garden looks great for the summer and there is a huge carpark. Prices are high compared to other pubs in the area both for drink and food. Food portions are also smaller than other local pubs.

what an absolute ridiculously awful experience. we arrived for a booking at 6:30pm and were seated round a corner away from most other tables. we were not offered drinks, we had to catch someone’s attention to order them and our food at around 6:40. at this point we overheard another table complaining that they hadn’t had food in over an hour. our drinks were brought and we waited for an hour for our food while barely any staff came close to us. when we complained about the wait the manager simply said there was staff off ill and it wasnt our fault. of course its not our fault! apparently my burger was redressed three times because they wanted to make sure my dietary requirements were met. i’m not sure why this was the case. we received our food after complaining which was cold and tasteless. the manager said the bill was non existent but the principle is what matters. why take so many bookings if you can’t accommodate them all. could definitely do better!

Really impressed with the meal my wife and I had at Sunday lunchtime. Service was fantastic and all the staff seemed so positive and enthusiastic. All the components of the meal were great, from the gravy, to the vegetables it was all cooked to a really high standard. The new decor is amazing and so well thought out. The Crown is such a lovely building and the pub is in such a beautiful location, but for a long time the food and service has always been below the standard it deserved so we were blown away by how good our visit was today.

Really good job on the refit! Keeps the feel of a country pub with a modern twist. Considering they have just reopened service and food were spot on, Venison was amazing, although if you prefer it more on the well done side I would ask them to cook it a bit longer, but perfect for me! The mashed potato with gravy and crispy onions was banging. Sharer platter for starter was a very large portion and really tasty. Would absolutely recommend.

Great refurb job - lots of original features but still with a modern feel. We really liked the idea of a private dining area. My wife assures me the cocktails were good and I thought their own Crown IPA was properly kept and went well with my meal. Food portions are good, especially the sharing platter and my wife's steak, and I DEFINITELY recommend the venison. An establishment as the Crown are only as good as the staff and management, I understand from meeting the team last night that it closes on the 14th July for 4 months to refurbish the property, I also understand the existing excellent staff will not be allowed to keep there jobs in the newly refurbished up market establishment, this is disgraceful, for all concerned, those that live in will be out of a home and a job, what a disgraceful situation to put there loyal staff in.

Very disappointing. I've come twice now to have breakfast and both times have been turned away. First time was not their fault, there was a leak. This time I was told only for pre-booked, however the place was empty. They said they had some bookings at 11am for breakfast, I was happy to wait the 10 minutes and order at the same time as them to make it easier. I had vouchers which run out today, which I also explained. No budging. I was one person, not a large group. Both times I also tried to call in advance to book and check opening times but they never answered the phone. Having moved to the area recently I was hoping to find a friendly local but unfortunately this will not be it. I can't understand the mentality.

At very short notice I thought it would be nice to go out with the family to enjoy one of the nicest days this year and end up out for a meal. We chose The Crown and booked online easily which is always great. Parking was good too, with lots of space and although I didn't use it, there did appear to be an overflow car park as well. A lot of the public were outside, but we decided to eat in as we'd been out all-day and wanted a more relaxed meal. The staff member at the bar was friendly, checked us in and showed us to some seats. My son and I sat on the large long bench seats, wide and daughter on the chairs. The long bench has seen better days and was very low down making it an odd height for the table so ideally it needs taller people than me (at 5'10) to eat comfortably. Service for the order and drinks were fine at the beginning and an order was taken by the staff by memory, it wasn't written down anywhere so I panicked a little. Drinks arrived as well as water, 2 of the 4 glasses were dirty and still had lipstick on so we put those to the side. Where we sat it didn't seem busy and it was quiet but it took over 45 minutes for the starters to come out. Mid temperature, my chicken was half hot, half room temperature. The kids garlic bread was cold. Scoffed quicker than you can sneeze we waited for the mains, about another 20 minutes after starters were done. No service between this time for drinks or check ups, just cleaning the table of plates. Mains arrived and my mixed grill was dire. The meats were cold and over cooked, drier than a beach flipflop, the only edible meat was the gammon which I enjoyed as too the kids. The chips were soggy as they had cooled down somewhat by the time we had got them and my son didn't enjoy the macaroni cheese as much as he had at other Chef n Brewers'. My daughter plowed through her food like she hadn't eaten in a week but had been constantly complaining of being hungry since we arrived but now looking at well over an hour for the main to arrive. My wife won the food lottery and her Sea Bass was good. I ate what I could, but could feel my insides mixing up the meat into something akin of postcrete, so feeling quite uncomfortable I was chugging water down to keep things moving. Being British we then waited. And waited. And after 30 minutes I went to the bar to settle my tab, no question asked about the meal, so again, being British I couldn't complain if I hadn't been asked about it. So I said nothing. I rounded up the feral children, now hyper on the idea of going home to sit in front of the vegetation box (TV) and went home feeling, well, quite disappointed. It's a nice pub, the day was glorious, all they needed to do was serve palatable and hot food. I might be wrong and you can judge me from your screen if you want, but on the way home I felt awful, thought I should have stopped eating that dried up meat and complained rather than give myself this awful indigestion, but I was hungry and really wanted the day to end on a positive note for the family and felt me moaning about it wouldn't do any good. Plus, very contrary to this post, I don't like moaning. At least not in public... British n all...

Our previous visit was fine, but on this occasion we were not made to feel at all welcome. Although the bar was busy(ish), there were plenty of free tables and we sat intending to have lunch. I waited a few minutes before heading off to find a menu. I saw a few staff members rushing to and fro but no-one paused long enough for me to ask for the menu. I waited at the bar with some other customers who were waiting to order drinks. After 5 minutes without anyone appearing I interrupted a member of staff who was tapping on a tablet. After being glared at for interrupting her, I apologised and said I had a quick question when she had finished what she was doing. After a couple of minutes I was given the opportunity to speak again. I asked if there was any chance of ordering food and was abruptly informed that they were fully booked. We left for somewhere more welcoming!

Awful experience here. The service was horrendous, food took over an hour to arrive, and wasn’t nice. After waiting 40 minutes they came and said there wasn’t any rice for one of the meals… only children rice with carrots in it (what restaurant runs out of rice??!). Then when it arrived it was cold. They forgot about a coffee and we had to clear our own glasses and ask for water multiple times at the (mostly in-manned) bar. The chicken burger was really tough and couldn’t be cut with a knife. We also asked for balsamic vinegar and olive oil for salad dressing to be told there didn’t have any oil… Multiple people went up to ask where their food was. They we’re also saying that the menu was limited to about 5 items. They were clearly understaffed. Staff (apart from the nice blonde lady) were incredibly grumpy and didn’t even apologise initially that the food was cold when it finally arrived. To top it off the taps in the women’s room didn’t work to begin with and there was no hand sanitiser. Really horrible environment and not good food. Would absolutely NOT recommend this to anyone.

We were happily surprised to see a selection of roast dinners were still available to order. My wife went with the pork loin and crackling and I chose the sirloin of beef . Both meals arrived within 5 minutes. Good sized portions with a great tasting stuffing. Only thing not suffice was the extra gravy which was duly supplied upon request. A bit of the sirloin was tough but this was replaced when mentioned with no fuss. The veg was one half of carrot. One half of parsnip and peas. After a lovely meal we shared a triple hot fudge brownie and ice cream which was delicious ! Very helpful staff. Great food and at a great price. Really nice local pub, went on a Sunday lunchtime and sat outside. Gardens are quite large and so is the inside, so there's usually places to sit and it's dog friendly with a large car park. Also accessible by foot or bike as there is a path through the local fields. Food was good, particularly enjoyed the halloumi fries but was a little disappointed by the cauliflower cheese but the best part was definitely dessert, absolutely loved the sticky toffee pudding and apple tart would 100% recommend either of these any day of the week. Service was quite slow, but it was a lovely day and we had put it in during a bit of a rush - the staff are lovely and I like that you pay when ordering at the bar then you can leave whenever you like! I would say this is not an accessible for a wheelchair, steps and narrow openings prevent this, the garden also has steps as there are areas of slope so maybe if you were determined you could sit outside.

Currently our favourite eating place. We had a super lunch with our vegan (dairy intolerant- not a choice) 3 yr old granddaughter and more recently a lovely, tasty, hot!, Supper Club (after 4pm) late lunch? Very good value and an enjoyable travelling interlude. The Abbots bottled beer is lovely but too expensive.

Disappointing experience. Children's menu chicken states 6 pieces, 5 served which we mentioned, they were very small compared to other places we have been. Unfortunately also had wrong starter bought out so had to wait for correct one. Cold unappetising veg with the main. I'm sure it can do better. Nice location and large beer garden looks great and well maintained.

On a further visit today found the staff very attentive even though very busy and the food very good. Pricing reasonable given the current problems with overhead costs. An error with bill I was unaware of was corrected very promptly.

A few weeks ago we booked the Crown Inn for a wake for approx. 80 people. The food service & attention to detail could simply not be faulted. A constant flow of well presented, good variety & plentiful food by staff and Tracy Armour who all worked timelessly to keep “topping up” the food. As so many people remarked on what amazing food & service was provided, a good review is more than well deserved! Highly recommended.

Nice Xmas lunch, food and service good Excellent choices on menu, Although getting our drinks order took a little too long. Otherwise service was excellent. The guy serving had quite a few tables to deal with as we arrived, So the delay was unavoidable.

Booked a table for 6 on a busy Sunday and so pleased we did. The service was excellent ( thank you Elena) and the food was delicious and plentiful. We all thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and have agreed to eat here again (and soon). A huge thanks to all involved, our experience was perfect.

I have not been to the Swan for a very long time so thought it was an ideal opportunity to visit over the fathers day weekend. The meal was lovely the service very good but my only comment is we had to ask for the menu after waiting for a short time other than is it was great.

We visited for the first time last Saturday for the SKA and Funk nite. It was brilliant! Flossie has a brilliant personality and is clearly very enthusiastic about her pub, staff and customers. She didn’t stop rushing around whilst making sure everyone was enjoying her music. The food and drinks were great too. So good to see such an atmospheric pub!
