Have lived in the village 50yrs (all my life) and now and again have eaten at Madeira. I have so far tried the all day breakfast, their home-made fishcakes with home-made sweet chilli sauce, their steaks and recently the Lamb Shank which i can say just fell off the shank as it's supposed to do and the sauce was unbelievable, amazing food served here. A party of four and my companion the dog ate recently and were well looked after indoors from the drinks to our mains to a nice pot of tea and bowl of milk for the dog + deserts. A well run family business which is appreciated in our wee village that caters for everyone and also welcomes anybody and everybody. Great place to dine no matter time of day. Many thanks guys.

I got 2 chicken Cajun burgers that come out not even cooked probably still pink on the inside. Had to throw it away as it started to make me feel sick.

Lovely service and well priced menu, though we waited over 30m for a scrambled egg and smoked salmon toast, which was very very overcooked.

I went there this morning and had two breakfast and the bacon was like leather and we could not eat it .we mentioned it to the staff and they could only say sorry .Not good

Friendly Portuguese cafe, home made meals, very wide and varied menu, always excellent meal. Have also Portuguese beers and soft drinks, full English breakfast or any breakfast yoou wish.

Friendly staff, not very hot coffee but they did prepare lovely hot chocolate for the kids. The cake, Chocolate Marble cake was a huge slice and very tasty.

The food is good, but portions are small. Didn't get our order correct.

Visited 2 weeks ago. Kitchen forgot to cook one of our meals ordered. Visited today - wrong order served. Breakfast portions reduced in size. Staff inexperienced and clearly not supported with basic training. Shame as this used to be a great place.

Had lovely lunch there today. Extensive menu with attentive service. My jacket potato with tuna had a 'home cooked' feel about it and came with delicious side salad garnish. Would recommend. Plan to visit again in future to try out other dishes.

Now and again i pop in for a breakfast or a coffee. Very friendly staff and the food is superb. Seating area inside and outside the back so plenty of spaces.

Fantastic food and very nice people who work there and owners are welcoming. Really recommend this place.

Ate here a few weeks back. Paid £10/11 for a beef in wine sauce which would have been fine but they gave me microwaved packet rice, at least make the effort to cook the rice rather than microwave packets if you’re going to charge £10+. The beef was ok.

Well this is a hidden place in CSP. If you didn't know there is a garden area at the back where you can sit in all weather. Prices are reasonable

I’ve been to this restaurant for breakfast and lunch, several times in the past with friends and family. Always good, hot, freshly prepared meals, served by the Portuguese owners. A friendly restaurant to relax in.

If you work round Chalfont at Peter this is a perfect place to come with your friends on your lunch break me and my family like to come her a lot for lunch and it’s very good. the cheesy chips are soo good I definitely recommend! This place is quite cozy but I think maybe they could add some more varieties but I do recommend here because it’s very nice also the meals are yum. But I hope they could add a bit more to the menus.

Alway had great service and the owners and staff are so accommodating to menu requests and changes (strict vegetarian). I hope that this cafe amongst all survives the Corvid lockdown - can't wait to go back to them.

Three wrinklies , weekday lunch. Located in village centre, double yellow lines outside but car 'pay' park opposite. Outside peeling paint on window frames, inside general ambiance uninspiring. Furniture OK but at least one chair with stuffing exposed. Toilets OK but cramped and unsuitable for wheelchairs. Very comprehensive menu plus on request, a Portuguese menu. Service prompt and welcoming but plates were cold and one meal (spag bol) served lukewarm and overcooked (soggy pasta) rejected. The waitress returned it (microwaved presumably) without cutlery so I had to go to the kitchen to get irons. The other meals, Chicken piri with chips and an unusual Portuguese cod dish were delicious and hot. Accompanying salads were crisp and fresh. Fries fresh & piping hat. Prices were reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again if I was passing, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Great quick food, tried this place a couple of times and the service is always great, quick and inexpesive

Unbelievable the owners children jumping all over the seating and tables. Waited over 45 mins for hot and cold drinks. When the food eventually came it was cold and very sparse for the price. Also had to wait a long time even after the waitress checking 4 times what we had ordered. Have been up most of the night with stomach ache and feeling ill. Would not go again.

Went to Madeira we were the only people they were cooking for. Waited half an hour for a sausage sandwich and double cheeseburger. Ended up asking for it to take out. Got home and the food was not cooked properly it all went in the bin very disappointed.

Try the custard tart. Recommended.

Just had cofee and hot chocolate here with my daughter and my wife. Very friendly people, good coffee latte and also tried the marble cake which is unbelievably tasty. Saw organic honey there as well. Warm and nice atmosphere. Next time will go to try the food. On Sunday at 12:00 midday when we were there, the place was nearly full.

Wonderfull menu with a excellent price range The experience in this part of town was wonderfull Recommendations Cajun chicken burger a spiced chicken breast ,lettuce,tomato&cheese 10/10 .

Don't be put off by the appearence because the food is fab. There isn't much room but that's because it's popular! There is a pleasant garden to the rear, which not many know about so it's quite and secluded. Ask for the Portuese menu. It's not on the table but worth having a taster.

The only place to eat in Chalfont. Where the food is not only mouth watering, but the friendly service you receive makes you feel like you are part of the family. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant any more. Caters for your every need, a quick drink, a light lunch or even a lush dinner. Get down to the heart of Madiera, but in Chalfont.

Great cafe, run by a friendly family. I stopped for lunch with an old colleague who lives near by, I didn't have much time as I was on a lunch break- but enough time to get a good healthy lunch. I was surprised by the number of options on the menu. The coffee was great too and very reasonably priced. I think it would be hard to get a good 'home' cooked meal in a lunch break and for such a reasonable price.

You MUST try the traditional Caldo Verde soup!!! Delicious

We went for Lunch a couple of weeks ago and the place was buzzing. We sat down and we were a bit surprised then there was not a Portuguese menu on the table and most people were having breakfast. We asked the waitress if they still did Portuguese food and we were relieved when she brought us the menu. I love Baccalau (Salt Cod) so we started off with Baccalau croquettes to share and although quite good it didn’t taste much of baccalau and at £ 5 for 2 croquettes it seemed a tad overpriced. What followed was grilled Baccalau for me. The nice thing about Baccaalau is the fact that it is preserved in salt therefore the saltiness gives a depth of flavour. The taste wasn’t bad but rather bland which is a bit strange considering what I said above. It is very likely that it was left too soak for too long. My wife went for the Espada a long white fleshed fish which looks horrible but taste divine which she discovered some years ago when staying in Madeira and she loved it. The salad with vinaigrette was fresh and the chips were good too.

Muito desiludida. Nao servem pratos tipicos. Se es portugues e pensas que vais encontrar boa comida portuguesa, esquece! Pedi uma sopa para entrada e serviram-me uma das sopas enlatadas da Heinz com pao de forma...o resto nem vale apena mencionar. E portugues so de Nome. No entanto e compreensivel tendo em conta que a maioria dos clientes sao ingleses...if you are looking for traditional Portuguese food look elsewhere, you better do a few extra miles towards central.

Madeira Coffee has such a great variety of food and drinks and their coffee is just the best! The staff always welcome you with a friendly smile! They also have very suitable opening times, from early morning until late evening and all day on weekends too. For me being portuguese it is amazing to be able to get things that I miss from home.

Food normally okay, this time I asked for gluten free vegetarian breakfast. I asked if the veggie burger was vegetarian and was told it was because it was only vegetables. It wasn't, it was vegetables in bread crumbs. Normally I like the food, but when you're intolerant to something this just isnt acceptable.

Authentic and coffee is a million times better than any chain

We nipped in here for a quick something for the kids and I had no idea what a gem it was serving Portuguese food and normal sandwiches etc. Absolutely lovely. Chicken piri piri omelette calamari. All very well done.
