The best restaurants in Cherwell South East

What's happened. We have had great food from here in the past but our last two meals have been atrocious and my partne complained about the standard of her vegetarian meal. Lack of flavour and under cooked chips. My house special curry which was served in a half sized container wasn't worth the £10 it cost.

Met up at The Yurt for lunch with friends. Absolutely perfect in every way. Polite, friendly staff, wonderful food and very reasonably priced. We were the last table to leave but were under no pressure to as we were aware of the closing time. I can’t wait for the next visit.

A warm, well maintained, clean and friendly tavern offering excellent meals and deserts. We enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

We has a brilliant evening at the White Horse. From the warm welcome to the excellent food and service, everything was great. Highly recommended.

Sorry, how much? A BLT, a piece of cake and a can of drink for £17.50 and that’s with a 10% discount for takeaway. Can’t say I was surprised when the staff were saying it’s not very busy. I guess I should have looked at the menu before I ordered so only myself to blame.

We went for Sunday lunch .. got seated immediately.. the bar area is great , real oldie worldie . Good beer , staff very good . The lunch itself is 1st class ... 1 half chicken & a mixed meat .. pork and beef , 8 different veg which were cooked perfectly rare beef and lovely pork , lots of gravy . 100% we will return even though the owner / chef is a rangers fan I belive ... well done all .

Kitchen closed despite being shown as Open on Google. Someone was apologetic and said there was no real way for us to check if it was open in future. I emailed and was told they post notices on social media and website when it's closed for private functions. But this really isn't good enough. Not everyone uses social media and people shouldn't have to check a website before they eat somewhere. Moreover the info on Google is incorrect and that's the source most customers will use. I used to enjoy visiting the brewery but it's turned into a shambles and I probably won't go back. There are much better places to eat in the area anyway. Don't waste your money!

It was an impromptu visit on a cold Friday night...a roaring fire and warm welcome as we entered the pub and they quickly found us a table...not full, but busy. We ordered T-bone steak and a burger, both were beautifully cooked, tasty meat and served with excellent chips and trimmings . Very relaxed casual cosy dining. It was exactly what we were looking for. We will go back as there were some lovely looking dishes on the menu and no pretensions. Not cheap but good value.

Lovely quirky bar with a good selection of fantastic drink. Great buzz and a great night. Garden was lovely too, with covered area and fire pit. Highly recommend!!

Nice atmosphere and decor here but have had much better Barrista coffee elsewhere. The Americanos ( long blacks) were a bit weak for our taste.

We loved everything: tasty refined food, very nice atmosphere, variety of options and nice dessert selections. The staff is kind and polite.Highly recommended.

Visited Stratton Audley Barn with my daughter to view the Xmas shop & have lunch. On the plus side the service was friendly and speedy & there was no problem getting a table. However, can £14 for a jacket potato be justified? It wasn’t piping hot inside, was dry (there didn’t appear to be any butter added) & so the cheese didn’t melt. We’d asked for a topping of tuna with the cheese, but this extra topping (plonked on the side & not on the spud) increased the price from £12 to £14. There was a small accompanying plain salad, but when we asked for dressing we were told there was only balsamic. Expected much better for £14.
