Christmas meal to meet up with family. There was 11 of us, fish and chips were excellent lovely crisp batter and not greasy, we all had something different, the only starter that was disappointing was peppers that were roasted, the rest were great. The main courses sea bass, fish and chips, steaks, roast Turkey came quickly and were hot, and everyone was served all together, the service for drinks to the table was very slow, , would recommend and will be back again.

Lovely food in a lovely setting with lovely staff! Just lovely! We both had steak which was cooked to perfection with great chips and the deserts were both original and delicious. They were very accommodating of our dog and young baby too including making my wife feel comfortable whilst breastfeeding. There’s a great deal of choice in the Cotswolds but this is definitely worth a visit.

Booked here as we had passed it on our way to arriving at our nearby accommodation at Epwell. searched Google and saw had good ratings. It didn’t disappoint. Short 10 minute drive to sit outside on a patio on a summers evening to great food reasonably priced with friendly service. Arancini were crisp and hot and my fish & chips although a simple dish can so often go wrong. Lovely light crisp batter with fluffy chips, fish was moist & flavoursome not dry over cooked as can be the case. The sea bass main was yummy too. Can thoroughly recommend the pear tart worth the wait wish we’d had two! Would recommend readily - thanks guys for a lovely meal at a reasonable price

Sadly not quite up to expectations. We were seated promptly on arrival and our order was taken quickly. The food that was served was of a good standard. However there were a few things throughout the meal that let the side down slightly. I ordered the bread and houmous for starter, when it arrived there was no houmous. When I questioned this I was told they didn't have any left, the waitress asked what I would like instead - not a question I can answer with out being given a list of options! When we asked her to find out she came back from the kitchen saying there was no alternative, would I like some butter. Had I known all of this before ordering I would have chosen something other than bread and butter. Another member of our party who arrived after the initial group ordered a lime and soda to drink but was served what tasted like a lemonade instead, when this was questioned she was told it was the lime and soda she asked for, yet it tasted very different to the lime and soda ordered by another member of the group... When it came to dessert, it was asked if the sticky toffee pudding came with ice cream as it wasn't mentioned on the menu, we were told it did. However when the desserts arrived there was no ice cream, when we queried this we were each given a small ramekin containing one scoop of chocolate ice cream, a little bit of an odd combination with sticky toffee pudding and a shame not to have had it all on the same plate. Finally, as much as we love dogs, having them constantly run under the table around our feet wasn't ideal for a sunday lunch time. It's a shame the service and attention to detail wasn't quite up to scratch as the majority of the food could not be faulted at all and they catered well for the various dietary requirements of the group.

Disappointed. Although the food really was quite good the service and atmosphere were poor. I love dogs but there were lots barking throughout our meal inside. Some of the waiting team were quite unhelpful and abrupt. When we asked if we could have some dessert, without being offered a menu we were just asked ‘what do you want?’ We were made to feel difficult for asking to see one. An expensive meal that did not feel as special as it should have done.

Following reviews and staying close, we popped in and was not disappointed! Greeted by a very warm, small team.. we sat outside. Initial reviews said to go for the Korean ribs starter, so we did! Both of us! Absolutely stunning, lumps of meat dropping off the rib with a delicious marinade. For main, I had the fish platter which you can have as a starter or beef up as a main. It was very well prepared; credit to the chef and kitchen team! My girlfriend had chicken flatbreads which was perfect on a boiling day and executed very well! Local ale on tap, very friendly staff and a top well executed menu. GO VISIT!!

I had pre-booked a table here, and the lady on the telephone was really polite and helpful, this seems to be the way at Wykham Arms as the whole team were helpful and very friendly. I ordered the asparagus with duck egg for starter, not expecting much as asparagus is usually luke warm, what a wonderful surprise as when it arrived it was hot, and delicious, my dog never eats the white of eggs but gulped a bit down. The fish and chips that I had for main course was equally delicious and the batter so very light, and tasty, the fish was lovely. All in all I could not fault Wykham Arms at all.

We have lived locally for a little over a year. We treat ourselves to Sunday lunch about once every three months, always searching for that perfect one, many have fell short. This is now our go to place. The food, the price, the staff, all wonderful. There are others around all with their merits (alot of friendly pubs), however the food here is on another level, and incredibly priced for the excellent quality. We had a lovely light crab starter, an incredible lamb main, a delicious apple streusel and decadant choccy tart. All really amazing. I hope the standards remain this high in the future as I can see us being regulars! Basically, I was "glutened" (being coeliac, I need to steer away from gluten containing food) and the restaurant owner/chef never admitted his responsibility. Indeed, after a few email exchanges, his attitude got worse and worse and his last reply was "Go away"...Maybe some cross contamination occurred which can happen, but the arrogance and total lack of customer service of this so called chef is absolutely astounding. One of us had fish and chips but why put a sheet of paper over the plate and under the fish? Is it really necessary to be "trendy"? We had to ask for the wine list and waited and waited to give our food order to be told they were very busy! Why oh why can't they let you know they are running behind and offer one a bread basket or something? Instead we sat and fumed at the total lack of consideration. I visited the Wykham Arms recently with my family. The pub was welcoming and the service was very good. Two of our group opted for fish, chips, peas and tartar sauce. Both of us were dissatisfied with our choice, the fish was grey in places and contained lots of bones. Also, when it was brought to our table, both fishes, were served skin side up - presentation is everything! The chips were oven chips; and I have to say having paid nearly £11.00 for a lunchtime dish, I did expect homemade chips. Overall disappointing meal. Having said that, some of our group opted for burgers and I'm told they were delicious.

Winner nights are best when the fire is going, supported by friendly locals and interesting conversations. They have a fantastic array of gins which complement their exceptional menu, which varies from English feel good dishes to light and tasty bites. Their Sunday roasts are generous and delicious which are best washed down with some of their fine wines. The service is brilliant - efficient and smooth. Often, when they put on quiz nights and the popular Burns Night, it attracts others from afar. A brilliant local but also a fab place to dine on special occasions.

We are lucky enough to be able to refer to the Wykham Arms as "our local" although in truth it offers so much more than this might imply while retaining the welcome and friendliness of a traditional English Pub. On Saturday my husband was celebrating a big birthday so we knew where to turn. Damien and Debbie (the proprietors - both chefs) were wonderful - accommodating everyone's requirements which varied from gluten free to vegan while the majority of us chose in advance from the extensive menu. Everyone commented on the delicious food and the service, as always, was friendly and efficient - quite a feat with so many people to serve! As one of my aunts once commented "This is top London quality tucked away in the country! - the best of both worlds. We have just returned from Sunday lunch at the Wykham Arms and I can only describe it as outstanding! I had local Asparagus and my partner had the soup of the day; my first mouthful had my tastebuds dancing a jig and I wondered if I could get away with 3 starters before the main. The soup was also delicious so left us wondering if this quality could be maintained. We had nothing to worry about as the roast beef with yorkshire pudding was a delight. Good portions, roast potatoes cooked in goose fat, well cooked veg - you get the picture. I have tried several local restaurants but none provide the quality of produce nor the consistent high standard of cooking that you get at the Wykham Arms. Already booked to return later this week with 2 guests.

We had dinner at the wykham arms on 16/5. The pub was full and buzzing. Food was very good- fish platter and cod and chips followed by the ice cream and eclair.excellent local beer.the only drawback was that service was very slow from very pleasant overworked young ladies.

A warm welcome from Debbie, very good service from 2 young waitresses, delicious food and an interesting wine-list with plenty available by the glass, were the plus-points for our visit. The portions weren't ginormous, however, bearing in mind the price, and what we hoped would be a pleasant family evening with a chance to chat was rather spoiled by a group of VERY noisy locals in the bar not far from our table. If we'd known how long they would stay we'd have requested a table in another area. This probably won't stop us from going back at some time in the future.

Again...thank you Damian and Debbie, for ensuring our evening was so special. A party of 18 of us sat down to a fantastic menu choice - from Sea Bass, Cotswold Lamb, Barbary Duck and Mushroom Fricasse on to Lemon Meringue Roulade, Chocolate Pudding or a sensational Cheese Board. Service and staff were superb. What more can I say, but an evening to remember!

I recently visited this establishment with my brother, set in one of the most beautiful areas of England, we were on a day out visiting his old school. The area is well worth a visit," I saw the Lady upon the white horse" at Banbury cross. Upon arriving at The Wykham Arms, we were greeted by the landlord Bradley, Thank you for your very warm greetings, I really enjoyed our chat, you and your wife quite clearly work very hard and deserve all the praise. My brother and I received extremely good service, a wonderful lunch, nicely presented. I do hope to return one day.

This is pretty much our local "go to" pub where we have always had good honest food at a reasonable price. We came here back in October, with my entire family, to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. Debbie and Damien rolled out the red carpet treatment, with champagne to greet us and cake to finish. The meal was beautifully cooked and the service was attentive but not intrusive. As it was such a success, I returned with my two sons, for a celebratory lunch, to mark school breaking up for Christmas. i can confirm that the red carpet treatment was rolled out again - minus the champagne and cake, obviously, but the warm welcome was wonderful! Genuinely decent food, even if our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs!

This is the second time we have had a meal at the Wykham Arms. Wonderful tasty food. The roast beef was so tender and perfectly cooked, the vegetables were also perfect. Had a truly wonderful meal at the Wyckham arms last night. In particular the rice pudding dessert was the best I have ever had. Every course was hot, including the peppercorn sauce with my steak and the steak itself was tender and cooked to perfection. Normally I can find something to complain about at other establishments, but not at this one! Well done chef!

As I was staying nearby ( Walton Hall) and visiting Upton House ,i beeked for Sunday lunch ,on the basis of previous reviews. I was not disappointed, it was fabulous ! The staff were very friendly and efficient , the food was excellent and a nice choice for a Sunday lunch. I had the venison pate starter ,followed by the smoked haddock. Both were well presented and delicious. The pub was extremely busy with at least two large parties, but service was quick and efficient, and for me very importantly, I as a lone diner was treated equally ( rarer than you may think- usually an afterthought!!) and most of the others seemed locals. All in all a lovely Sunday lunch and would highly recommend if in the area, but guess it's a must to book .

I ordered the cod loin from the menu provided for us, which was really tasty. I often order fish here as I always find it delicious. The desserts were also fantastic, especially the chocolate teardrop! We all had an enjoyable evening. This is a great pub to spend time in, food is lovely and the bar offers a cosy place to relax.

My sister made a reservation for 6 of us this morning to treat our parents to a Sunday lunch. We arrived at 2pm and the place was busy, but we expected this as we were in a country pub on a Sunday lunchtime. When we were shown to our seats we were told that out of the 5 options on the menu for mains, the haddock had been substituted for Cod and the Roast Beef (the only traditional roast lunch) had sold out. That left a vegetarian Risotto dish, a Chicken with Blue Cheese dish and a Pork Belly dish. As most of us had wanted Beef, 4 of us chose the Pork Belly and 2 of us chose the Chicken and the Pork dishes. We waited 40 minutes and once it arrived we were shocked. The Cod dish was ok (Mashed Potato was powdery) and you couldn't taste the Blue Cheese on the Chicken ( Quite impressive as Blue Cheese can be strong. The Pork belly portion was tiny (Smaller than the width of a Pint glass, could have easily passed as a starter) and Potatoes weren't cooked properly at all. We were still hungry after finishing that we wanted to order pudding. However we then saw a different table being served large Roast Beef dinners, an hour after we were told it had sold out! Annoyed, we voted to skip pudding and leave. We were paying for the bill when one of us said how poor it was to tell customers a dish had sold out and then serve it to others an hour later. The manager replied "We do not have anymore Roast beef, that isn't Roast beef"...clearly lying as we were stood right next to the people eating it when she was saying this! She then said they had pre-ordered it. We then tried to say that we still weren't happy as the portions of the Pork dish were tiny, however she kept butting in saying that they had loads or Beef leftover last week and that they had been busy today. We just gave up and went to pay for the bill. As she was handing over my receipt she clearly wanted the last word as she said "Just want to say that you DID reserve the table only this morning"...Surely that wouldn't matter as they had sold out of the Beef before we got there and also if they couldn't cope with the number of customers vs the amount of portions they had, they shouldn't have reserved the table anyway! I tried to explain this and I tried again to explain about the poor portions of the Pork, but she again kept butting in and talking over me saying "We ran out of Beef" and "we're too busy". In the end we paid the bill (£130 for 8 drinks and 6 measly portioned meals) and walked out.As a manageress she clearly wasn't interested in the customer's opinions and was more keen to get her say. It was poor customer service and I can't remember if she even apologised. Poor service, poor food, and an embarrassing experience what was supposed to be a treat for my parents.

Following good reports from the daughter of the two friends we were meeting we went off for lunch at the Wykham Arms. Although living not that far away somehow we had never been here before. Not that many in but the welcome was very warm and friendly and the specials explained and menus handed out.We all shared the speciality bread/olives/dip which the bread was fresh and the dip well balanced and refreshing.Three of us chose the pave of cod with the remaining person having the gratin with cheese. All dishes were excellent and the fresh spinach also very good.Slight amendments to the mains (cheddar rather than Stilton on the top of the gratin and the spinach cooked with a touch of garlic)Sweets were chosen and all were of a good standard and went down very well. All washed down with a carafe of white Rioja. The final worked out at about £30 per head which whilst not the cheapest considering the quality good value.

Ate Sunday lunch here yesterday as it's one of our favourites but the food was disappointing. Has there been a change of chef? My chicken Milanese was dry, and plonked on top of a huge portion of dryish spaghetti which made it difficult to eat. No garnish, no veg with it. Service was excellent as always so we were reluctant to complain and the hosts are very friendly. Just hope it was a one-off.

What a wonderful evening we had at this pub a couple of weeks ago. It has been one of the best meals out we've had; with a combination of truly delicious food, a charming characterful setting and friendly and attentive service in one place. Highly recommended if you are visiting the area. The menu had great variety and it was clear that a lot of care had gone into the dishes. Plates were presented well. But what really stood out was the colour, texture and flavour combinations of the food, which were exquisite. My fiancee particularly enjoyed the delicious chocolate pudding. We felt very welcome here and will certainly be coming back again.

A great choice on the menu. Service was quick and the waitresses were very attentive and friendly. They really looked like they enjoyed working there and there was a lovely, friendly feel to the place. The food was fabulous. Prawn platter to start with one of the most delicious pates I've ever had. The lamb main course was perfect. The only slight disappointment was the lack of solid, traditional desserts on the menu. There were ice creams, honeycomb in chocolate and a rhubarb sponge, which are well and good, but in my eyes you always need a firm favourite on a menu, a crumble or a treacle tart, or something warm to smother in custard. Especially when the online site still had the pecan pie and bread and butter pudding on the menu. However, sensing my disappointment, the kitchen were superb and rustled me up an exquisite sticky toffee pudding with jugs of custard. Top marks!

Showed to a table immediately and told about the specials. Drinks served quickly with a good selection of wine by the glass. All our food was gorgeous, served on hot plates, with very efficient and unobtrusive service. My husband is well known for having a bit of a gripe, but instead today sent a compliment back to the chef (and owner) for his chicken dish. My nachos were gorgeous, a very plentiful portion for a snack. All the other food we saw was also presented very well and all plates went back empty.Lovely place, will definitely be going back, hopefully next time with room for a cheese board, which the table had next to us and looked lovely. Great food, great service and great value for money.

Once again we have had an amazing meal at the Wykham Arms and continue to return time and again. The perfect venue for quiet meals out to full-blown family events, the quality of the food and outstanding service never fail to impress. Our last meal here was for a party of 18 & the food came out on time, all together and was the usual high quality we have come to expect. The staff were attentive and happy to help with special requests (e.g. for extra gravy!) as well as offering service for drinks at the table whilst we ate.The atmosphere is excellent - a good combination of local pub and quality country restaurant, helped by the roaring fire in the cosy bar. With excellent countryside walks in the area it is an ideal venue for Sunday lunch and has a lovely patio area and garden for the summer. We cannot rate the Wykham highly enough - in fact we have relatives who insist on coming to see us from the other side of the Cotswolds just so we can eat at The Wykham Arms!(And...little known secret...they serve the best Sticky Toffee Pudding in the world!)

Let's try though.Frozen chips poorly cooked.Steak was tough and grisly, I managed to get half of it eaten. Some green beens and a pot of beans the size 1/2 a ramekin.2 standard drinks each , no wine and a bill for £60+.Not a restaurant, glorified pub grub.

A summer's evening drive through North Oxfordshire's fine countryside took us to the Wykham Arms. A good welcome took us promptly to our table. This is both a restaurant and a village pub - a nice mix - and plenty of people were enjoying a warm evening on the pub terrace. The wine list has a good selection of wines by the glass - always an asset. The staff are pleasant and friendly and our orders were soon taken. English asparagus and fresh crab were our starters followed by sea bream and lamb rump with chorizo; creme brulee for dessert - all delicious. Although it's a bit of a journey for us to come here for dinner it is really well worthwhile. We had previously come for lunch in winter, very different circumstances but a very enjoyable meal then - we're glad we came back and certainly will do so again.

My husband, daughter and I were visiting friends for a week in Shipston and this place became our second home. The building is really lovely- traditional and with a very pretty bar which is really cozy... perfect for dogs, kids and anyone wanting a good chat and a great pint (fab selection of ales and lagers). We loved the sofa in the corner for playing cards. I imagine it's super lovely when the fire is lit in winter. It's the garden that we loved most though.. there's a natural wig wam tree thing with kids stuff in so perfect for little ones. Lots of tables with an uninterrupted view of the rolling hills. They don't 'do' food but have a wood fired pizza oven that comes once every month and it was amazing! I think they have a similar thing with local fish and chips too. We were also there on 'sharing night' when the locals all bring in stuff like cheese and home made bread to share on the bar. All in all, this was a fantastic pub with great staff, a beautiful garden and a really charming, cozy bar. We will be back!
