Kitchen closed despite being shown as Open on Google. Someone was apologetic and said there was no real way for us to check if it was open in future. I emailed and was told they post notices on social media and website when it's closed for private functions. But this really isn't good enough. Not everyone uses social media and people shouldn't have to check a website before they eat somewhere. Moreover the info on Google is incorrect and that's the source most customers will use. I used to enjoy visiting the brewery but it's turned into a shambles and I probably won't go back. There are much better places to eat in the area anyway. Don't waste your money!

Came for a birthday breakfast. Nothing short of brilliant. Car park is spacious, access into the building good, and plenty of space between tables. Food itself was very good. Bacon a little overdone but sausages really tasty and the right amount of food on the plate. The place is quite quaint with original features retained. Staff were attentive and friendly, toilets fairly clean, and the shop next door well laid out. Enjoyed seeing the pictures on the wall of the building's plan from years past. Recommended.

Long drive and in the middle of nowhere but well worth the trip. We had booked a tour so had a limited amount of time to eat. The lady in charge took over and advised us that there was a couple before us on the same tour. Food didn't take too long to arrive and it was excellent, as of course was the beer. I had the smoked chicken wrap and chips, big pieces of meat, we were soon satisfied. Nice environment, definitely recommend if you are on a tour or live locally.

Ordered the smoke salmon salad what a mistake that was the salad was probably 2° above freezing so cold difficult to eat as it thawed and it became a mushy mess. Tried a couple of times to bring this to the attention of one of the serving staff. However, they just wander through the rest are never looking at the customers, the others in a party seem to have a reasonable food, but this certainly one to miss.

I brought the family here for breakfast whilst on holiday.I ordered the Eggs Benedict which should be served on a toasted muffin, but unfortunately they didn't have any so it had to be served on toast, which was the first disappointment. Given that the descriptions for the other dishes talks about hearty brewers breakfast, etc I was expecting (as is normal in other restaurants) that the meal would come with 2 poached eggs. Unfortunately, it only came with one egg and also they were less than generous with the hollandaise sauce. As a result it wasn't the satisfying breakfast I was hoping for. Which is a shame as the eggs, bacon and sauce were very enjoyable and of a very high standard, certainly as good as I've had anywhere else.As for the service I have no problem with being served by an inexperienced waiter, we all have to start somewhere, and it wasn't a problem that he had to return a couple of times to ask questions that he forgot the first time or to ask the same question again. However, I don't think its unreasonable to expect the waiter to be a little friendly and welcoming and in this area he let himself down. He only spoke when he had to, didn't check if we were happy with the food and when I paid the bill he didn't speak at all or exchange the usual pleasantries to thank us for coming, etc.. I ordered a coffee before I left and he had overfilled the cup so by the time it arrived most of the coffee was in the saucer, he seemed surprised when I said I didn't want to accept the coffee in that condition as he was happy to serve it to me. I expected him to serve a replacement but after 10 mins when it had not arrived I asked where the coffee was. He sounded surprised and said 'do you still want the coffee.......?!' The only consolation was that it was fairly quiet and so service was quite quick.Overall, the food was great, just needed to be a little more generous with the portions, train the staff and given the great location it would be somewhere I would happily recommend.

First visit here, came for lunch as lots of good footpaths in area to walk it off.Firstly there are lots of staff and they are all great. We had the Drayman’s Lunch which is their brewery inspired take on a Ploughman’s. Comes in cheese or gammon versions but one option which is a mixture would be better.I was drawn to this by the ‘rustic bread’ accompaniment only to find it was one slice of the most basic white bread, with no apology about this given. Lots of other tempting choices on the menu for next time.Toilets in corridor are small & impassible to social distance in so worth a short walk to others at end of shop.Generally a pleasant experience and will look forward to returning, though will come on a day when I can sit outside so I don’t have to shout.

We enjoyed our food ( my wife the steak and ale pie £11.99 and myself festive pate £5.99) except that it took 30 mins for us to wait ( I asked the waiter why were the other customers a party of six plus two from the tour that were after us being served.. He said that the two were only having sandwiches and the party of six had booked before us.. To which I pointed out that if he checked with the bar he will see that I was first as one of the ladies in the party interrupted me ( not even saying excuse me) being served by the waitress and saying that they had arrived for their booking. He did not come back to reply to me just the jug of water I requested.. Shame...Spoilt what would have been a most enjoyable day. The other waitresses were attentive and pleasant. Could not find a alcoholic drinks price list.. My wife's Ashmolean Gin and Tonic £6.00 and a Crusan 175ml Merlot £5.00.

So....it’s a nice venue, tastefully done and excepting the fact that the tables are huge and far too big, it’s a good space for a sit down. The staff are helpful as well and polite....but the food varies from okay to a bit poor. We ordered the Kids pizza, which was slightly spicy (had green peppers in it) and cooked on a tortilla(?) which went down like a lead balloon for a 5 year old. As it’s 2019 not 2009 they should be offering a non dairy (such as Soya) alternative for their hot drinks perhaps? Lots of locally sourced food is great, but why have packets of Irish butter for spreading on bread? Surely you should be using British at the very least.....so room for improvement methinks

The Malthouse Kitchen has undergone a fairly recent revamp now taking up s much bigger footprint inside the Brewery's old stable buildings. A sympathetic fitout with larger bar and larger, hearty menu to match. My brother and I both couldn't go past the lamb shank which was perfectly presented and cooked and went down a treat on a cold December lunchtime. Their Twelve Days seasonal release beer was a perfect match.

Menu looked so good but in reality was disappointing. Lamb did not fall off the bone as expected and burgers were not as good as expected.

Following regular visits since moving to the area in May we decided to hold my sons christening celebration meal here. We were a party of 15 and they accommodated us on one large table. We were required to do a pre order which was very easily done via email. All food was correct, timely and delicious. The decorations and the atmosphere were lovely and added to the celebrations.

Another fabulous evening meal in the Lodge at the Muddy Duck. Lovely cheerful staff, prompt service and great food served hot as it should be. This is still the best pub for miles around and well worth a visit. The only negative is (still) the absence of a lovely welcoming fire. The room is begging for it.

We had a lovely meal last week, sitting outside. The food was superb, and the service was efficient and friendly. I can recommend the home made nachos. Probably the best I’ve ever had! And a good choice of vegetarian dishes too. The place has a lovely atmosphere whether you’re going for a meal or just to enjoy a drink.

First visit here & first time in Banbury. Its inside the main shopping centre but just on the end of it backing on to the canal. Great place to sit outside in the sun. Its also inside a food hall area so you can order food and eat and drink at same time. 10 different beers on tap and some other cans & bottles in the fridge. You can also get some to take away. Staff friendly and helpful, sorry should of got his name, will be back. I didn't have any food but there is a big choice. Its a 5 minute walk from bus station
