The Chatsworth in Cherwell

I’ve only been here twice and both were AWFUL experiences. if you’re at the age of 18 better get ready to be judged! First time i walk in around 5 and before even saying a word or looking at drinks selection i get questioned straight away and asked for my ID without even ordering an alcoholic drink and then just looked down upon for being younger than their older clientele. Second time i visited this month, the same poor experience receiving awful customer service from both barmaids - waited too long in the queue for the bar and so many people who came in after me got served before me and even the barmaids look at me and walked away to serve someone else. then when i finally got to ordered it was just attitude and not friendly service. interrogated into whether i was going to give my drink to someone else and then stared at and stalked the whole time i was sat down by the barmaid. Only go here if you’re above the age of 40 unless you want to be treated awfully!

Whilst visiting from Gibraltar our family took us to Chatsworth for evening meal. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food was amazing it was so good that we decided to take 14 of us for an evening meal the following day plus went for Sunday Lunch. I can honestly say that the service whilst serving all 14 of us was excellent, all food came out the same time , was hot and absolutely lovely. The Sunday lunches are the same,very tasty and excellent value for money.

We came for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. The beef was cooked to perfection, delicious roast potatoes, gravy and veg. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend:)

Big improvement on the old Cock Horse primarily aimed at eating. Expensive for those on a budget. Nice outside seating and ample parking. Clean toilets.

Went here for a wedding celebration (not an actual wedding!) had a lovely time. Food was great, staff were great and the atmosphere was fab.

A good Sunday roast, table was shoved against the serving hatch. No Biggie but does mean you are very aware of people around you.

We went here for a Sunday roast and it didn't disappoint, everything was tasty and hot .l had a child's portion and it was plenty .Service was friendly and efficient. Lovely clean surroundings with a nice atmosphere. Recommended

I come here quite a bit. The food is lovely and the staff are very nice. Family friendly and also a good quiet location. Live music on most weekends and has a good evening atmosphere but also a quiet lunch atmosphere. Can have parties here aswell and it’s well priced

Nice enough "local's" new build pub with restaurant. Light and airy. The food came out quickly if you had the standard lunch and we thought that the pork was very good with the trimmings excellent (though the yorkies could have been more crispy).

Excellent food, great service. highly recommend. We went at short notice a group of 10 for Sunday dinner. We were served efficiently, all the food was great and good size portions. Staff were friendly.

The staff was able to fit my table of 11 as a last minute booking for my birthday, they were very friendly and the food was really good for its competitive prices, pleasantly surprised we got more for our money! Would certainly come here again! Compliments to the chefs and the staff!

Last time I visited don't know if it was a bad midweek evening to go, but the choice of real ales was poor, service was slow, not that busy and running out of glasses. I was disappointed to say the least. This time it was midweek again, but at lunchtime. There was a choice of 3 ale's, i chose the Wainwright's, so pleased I did it was crystal clear with a good head and lined the glass. So would I go back, yes I would if they had 3 ale's to choose from.

We called in for lunch on the way back . What a nice surprise lovely pub and very nice food . The girls serving were very lovely. I only have one problem service was very slow . It was though we were forgotten about. Had to go ask for dessert and coffee. And stood waiting for a while. But apart from that small thing a nice afternoon.

Really enjoyed the food, plus we had a few drinks 👍

This place has wonderful food and large portions, food comes rather quick and there is good variety of food. I would recommend booking before hand though, as on days of special events, it’s quite busy. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Had the bbq chicken and sweetcorn pizza, the base was hard. The chicken had the skin on it. I did say bout the base being hard, apparently its because its cooked on a pizza stone. Compared to the other meals I've had here,I didn't enjoy the pizza.

Well! Very good indeed! We booked for our staff Christmas meal and had a really good time. Food was absolutely delicious with generous portions, service was good (including when one colleague started the evening by spilling a pint of coke all over our beautifully decorated table, leading to a quick re-set) and it was a great setting for us to let our hair down. I would most definitely recommend if you are looking for excellent food, good service and really quite reasonable prices.

Nice pleasant meal at the Chatsworth.

Although a limited menu, the food was nice enough and the staff friendly. Being a Pub, wouldn't choose it for a Romantic night out for two, as very noisy when busy.

My wife and i went in for a meal, to be surprised that they have started a curry night. We both ordered the Chicken Jalfrezi, we also shared a massive naan. The curry was really very good. i was weary in case it was a (Wetherspoons style) boil in a bag, but this certainly wasn't. it was very tasty, probably not quite as spicy as an Indian restaurant Jalfrezi, but it had all the right flavours and textures of one. Decent value too. £10 each with a beer... and as ever in the Chatsworth, the place was spotless and the staff polite and friendly.

My husband and I went for an unplanned lunch and had the best food. I had a vegetarian pizza, which was amazing. It was so good I didn’t want to stop eating it!! It was hot and fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the chicken sniztel burger and half expected a fly pice of chicken with a bit of bacon. He was so wrong!!! It looked so good and he thoroughly enjoyed a lovey chunky delicious piece of chicken and perfect crispy bacon. He wants to go again today!!! The service was welcoming and friendly, as always and Teresa and Ellie looked after us so well.

Great pub, not too out of the way. Shows all the sports, good vibe, pool table, dart board and great vibe! Great quiz on a Sunday evening, a good way to enter the new week. Can't go wrong with the Chatsworth.

Attended for Quiz night. First time at this pub. Quiz master & presumably landlord was great. Very welcoming and built a fun atmosphere, bar staff however on this evening were all miserable and unwelcoming. Not smile amongst the 3 of them. The pub it self was clean and nicely decorated with plenty of tables and seating inside and out.

For a pub on a housing estate very surprising good ,will call in more often

I have had drinks in the Chatsworth from time to time with friends, but never eaten in there until i took my wife there for an impromptu Tuesday evening dinner. We were both very impressed with the food and especially the service from both the girls in attendance, who i might add even though they were very busy, both greeted us when we entered and made both of us feel very welcome. i had Fish and Chips, my wife had Ham, Egg & Chips. The meals had both quality and quantity, and even though slightly pricey, were both well worth the money and we will definitely both be back to try something else on the menu. The pub is very clean, lovely decor, varied selection of drinks, well organized and attentive staff and most importantly great food.

I had been a regular at this pub for over two years, after the behavior of the bar staff last night I will not be spending my money here again. Awful Saturday staff.

Lovely meal. Perfectly cooked steak for my husband. I had a chicken breast in a tasty cream sauce. Staff were friendly and attentive. Combined with a music night featuring a favourite local musician. This venue really works for live music! Great atmosphere!

Eight + Baby called in for a birthday lunch. There's a pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of drinks to chose from. The lunchtime menu had a nice pub grub feel. I went for 'Ham, Egg & Chips' (my favourite) and was not disappointed. Food arrived fairly promptly and hot. The girls serving were always attentive which complimented an excellent lunchtime experience.

Me and my friend went last Sunday for a roast dinner, and it was delicious. Big plate of food and meat , no small portions just good hole some food . Pudding was great too , apple pie and custard, proper winter meal and delicious. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Cheerful and a lovely family vibes . Would highly recommend.

Pretty good visit. The food was good, hot and fresh when it arrived. The prices were reasonable. The only two slight downsides were the time we waited for our food and the wine we had wasn't very cold. But, only minor observations and still worth another visit.

Met friends for a delicious very reasonable light lunch at The Chatsworth. It's very clean & bright & the staff were lovely. I had Scampi, chips & peas- (the chips were amazing ) & a large Latte for £9.95. Some friends had Scampi & Chirizo which was also excellent. The portions were quite small but this was of course reflected in the price. I would definitely recommend The Chatsworth.

Went there for the first time on saturday night with my wife, loved the live music and ambiance. Definitely will go there more often. 👍

Kind staff. Good teamwork behind the bar. Multiple televisions showing different sports to cater for all. Games area, quieter area. Really good food. Very welcoming place. Perfect for a quiet lunch or getting ready for the weekend.

Went here on Monday, amazing so friendly the staff were great, made us feel welcome, my son played pool, they got us drinks and took our food order, wow the food was equally amazing, so glad I tried this local pub out will definitely go again

Very friendly staff always busy especially with the food plenty of people coming in for food so it must be good but I think the wine was a bit expensive for a pub come restaurant, ayho must be the area

Nothing wrong with it - seems like a nice place, good enough selection (especially of gins) and the menu looks interesting (we didn't eat there). I'd come back for the darts and pool table, all in a good state. Feels like a fresh renovation. Just seemed very quiet for a Friday evening, maybe 10-15 customers. Maybe business is still recovering after Covid. Neck Oil on tap is a big plus - great beer, wish there were more crafty ales.

I nipped in this afternoon for a quick pint of GUINNESS. The staff are very nice but £5.10p for a pint on a housing estate pub is over tbe top

Impromptu lunch date with the hubby today. Service was brilliant, short dark haired young lady was friendly and attentive. Food was amazing, first time in 37 years I have seen my husband go and thank the chef personally. Loads of good quality and quantity food, well presented, apparently the pork chop (specials board) was to die for (hubbies words) Totally recommend.

Make sure you take a loan out before going to the Chatsworth. I m not sure why this place think it's acceptable to over price drinks. This place is not the Ritz lol

Decent food and drinks in a family friendly pub. Service was first class and the menu offered a good choice of starters/mains/desserts. There is also a games room with a pool table. Good place to go if you have small children as there is plenty of room and our grandchildren were given colouring pencils and activity sheets to entertain them.

Unless you are hyper critical ( as some are it seems) it's as much as you could expect from a town pub. It's clean, well laid out & modern without being pretentious. Staff are always very pleasant and the service good. The standard menus are...

Value for money no Expensive yes. £22.50 for ribs looked like they been cooked in microwave non of that flame grill taste cold didn't have corn on the cob which didn't say brought peas with it instead

Went here for Saturday lunch. Had for starter the fried calamari, for main the duck and salmon special and for dessert the cheesecake. Food was excellent and fresh better than some restaurant food. Service was friendly and attentive. Price was reasonable. Will be back!
