Lovely view. We went there for dinner only and the food and service was very good indeed. My only criticisms are that, in common with many restaurants, hard surfaces everywhere and no soft furnishings mean that noise can be a problem in the restaurant. Also, the menu is very limited, so one could not dine there frequently, unless it changes regularly. It was refreshing to have proper linen napkins, plus water and bread for the table as was common in my youth but is now extremely rare.

I held a surprise afternoon tea here for my mum's 60th birthday and a dozen of her friends. The food was absolutely delicious, we were sat in the beautiful conservatory area and the cafe staff couldn't have been more helpful in the run up to the party and on the day itself. We had a wonderful time!

Ordered set meal for one while staying in the area. Fantastic value for money compared to where I'm from. I'm a large person and this was more than enough food.

we made the 140 mile trip to Whitstable on a recommendation from a well know train enthusiast & ex politician. we booked months in advance. We understood this restaurant had1 Michelin star, Having eaten at many "Started" restaurants in the passed we were very excited to see hat they could offer, both of us loving fish we could not wait. Upon arrival I was shocked at the ram shackle appearance of the whole place and had to check we were at the correct place. Scruffy & untidy describe it well. the food however was even more of a let down, bland with no flavour . The presentation was appalling. with what looked like 1 potato with the sides cut off & some very unappealing broccoli, limp & tasteless. How " The Sportsman" has a Michelin star I will never understand. maybe they have lost it now as there is no mention of it on the website. However, Michelin star or not the food & ambience did not reflect the price being asked. I did voice my disappointment at the time & my bill was reduced. I would not recommend "The Sportsman" on any level there are far better local eateries in the town which provide better food at a much lower cost

If you are doing a trip round Kent coast it's a good stop off point. Staff very welcoming. The room was comfortable and very clean. For an overnighter it's fine and breakfast was tasty and really nice cooked However, outdide of the rooms and reception it felt very dark and slightly abandoned. Little lighting outside of the rooms. Made me feel like they're waiting to sell and redevelop the site.

Hardly any chicken in the chicken chow mein, spare ribs were cold, portions very poor. Phoned to complain and the kitchen ( not the lady taking the orders) said that all they would do is give me a half price chow mein next time. We won't go back.

Popped in for a quick coffee after being stuck in traffic. Lovely young lady, Lily, served me. I couldn't decide what to have so she recommended I try one of the Christmas drinks. Loved it! Will definitely be back when I'm down this way. So nice to be served by a genuinely friendly member of staff too.šŸŽ„

We found this little gem by chance this afternoon and popped in for a family lunch. The staff were so warm and friendly and could not do more for you. Our son loved the play area and made the most of the sun whilst we waited for lunch. We ordered a mixture of things - a sirloin steak, vegan steak burger and vegan nuggets basket meal for our son. Everything was flawless. The portions were gigantic (and I should add that’s the only reason the plates were not cleared!) and extremely good value for money. My husband commented that the vegan steak burger is the nicest burger he has ever had. Add to this there was a phenomenal collection of beer and cider bottled and on tap. The atmosphere was brilliant and though we were having an early lunch, the garden was soon filling up. Really delightful find. We had to head off quite quickly so I didn’t get a chance to thank management personally for such a great visit so thought I’d do the next best thing and leave a much deserved 5* review instead. Looking forward to coming back!
