We had tempura oysters & the ½ lobster. Both excellent. The lobster took a while to arrive but we weren't in any hurry. It was worth waiting for. We will be back next time we are in the area.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by friendly staff who offered us a table even though we hadn't booked. My first impression was how gorgeous the Christmas decorations were and even though the tables filled up with large groups and we only had a small meal (soup and some whitebait) we were treated very well. Harry was very pleasant and efficient and if we had more time we would have settled in for a longer meal as the roast dinners and Filipino dishes looked very good. The menu was refreshingly different too. The pub deserves it's excellent reputation and definitely book ahead!

Not only that but service was great and friendly with a decent atmosphere as well. ( not friendlier than the famous pub down the road for sure). Top comfort food at proper old school prices.

Totally gobsmacked at how good this was. We shared some of the authentic Philipino dishes which were great. A great liver and bacon from one of the group was also very decent. Look, no airs and graces here, it’s a pub with a place to eat. Service and value is as good as it gets though. Saw some other great dishes coming out the kitchen which looked delicious. A definite return.

The staff were friendly and allowed the dog, but we had to sit out of the main restaurant. The main restaurant looked lovely and would have been a nice place to celebrate our 30 th anniversary. The meal was great but we didn't like the pub atmosphere, just a shame we had to take the dog with us, she enjoyed the bowl of water though that was kindly given.

Absolute gem! We went for iftar today with family and children. Very cozy and friendly restaurant, friendly staff and great service. All meat served were halal, had option to have non beer-battered fish. Portions were very good. The only negative thing would be, the starter calamari was bit small in portion, but super tasty! The burgers were, without doubt, the BEST I have ever tasted. Husband loved them too, and the salmon, carrot and rice meal he had another night. I have to admit I kept getting drawn back to those lush burgers most nights! Had one night with fries, one night with mash, and another night with salad and green beans. Wish they had done chunky chips instead of fries, but can’t have everything! The dogs were welcome in the bar area…and I mean welcome! Big fusses from the staff, water offered and treats as well. The staff were all friendly, but I did feel sorry for the lass who was having to take orders, serve drinks and food, and clear tables; all by herself. She coped admirably but they could do with more than one staff member on duty mid week. A shame there was not much parking space but really don’t know what they can do about that, except buy the derelict shop/hut thing next door and demolish it for parking space.

This used to be one of my favourite places to go for good food. Visited tonight and left feeling extremely disappointed. Not sure whether it’s changed hands or changed chefs but the food was very sub-standard and unfortunately we wont be going again. The starters were very poor and the Thai curry didn’t even resemble a red or green Thai curry - it was flavourless, runny and I could have made better. I never write a review but I felt I had to given the food was so so poor.

I had the battered cod and chips and struggled to finish due to the size but it was so good I had a clean plate. My wife had a dish from the Asian section and you can tell it was cooked by an Asian chef. The smells coming from the kitchen were amazing. The home made Filapino ice cream is to die for. We shared a selection, all delicious - the Purple Yam flavour was the best and a must try. Me my wife and our family went for roast dinner on the 10/09/2023 and I can honestly say it was the worst roast I've ever eaten it all started when are dinner first turned up and 3 people who had pork belly asked for apple sauce and complained about the taste ,my son being one of them said it tastes like it had gone off and then my daughter had the beef which was as tough as leather we said to one of the waitresses about our issues and she did apologise but we had no response from the owners or the chef, when my wife went to pay their was no mention of money off the bill which cost us £156, not good practice by the oyster pearl I expected better from them as the holiday park opposite is where my mum and dad spend a lot of time and eat in the pub most evenings and had recommended the food I must say we had a meal in their on Thursday evening and it was very nice but the roast dinner was horrible and I'm not one to complain I'll eat just about anything but the roast dinner was not good.

Firstly I was hugely impressed with the garden where one finds beautiful healthy veg and herbs growing, secondly it’s super clean and the atmosphere is calming… Our food was all delicious, we had a variety of dishes from South East Asian to Vegan nut roasts and the yummy creamy mushroom pie. It has to be said that the Vegan dishes were better than good, far exceeded our expectations as Vegan food is too oft a disappointment (I briefly saw chef and thanked her). The young woman who served us was lovely and her service was exemplary… I was hugely impressed and was amazed they ‘do’ a Vegan Sunday Roast… all of us enjoyed our first experience at The Oyster Pearl and will no doubt return soon as we have a holiday home close by. This is a review of the Abode Brasserie. The restaurant is a small plate eatery, we've been to a few small plate places and really enjoyed them, the menu sounded interesting and we wanted something a bit special as we were only in Canterbury for one night. We were met at the entrance by a man who waved us in the general direction of some tables and said we could choose where to sit, bit odd but fine. We sat down and after a few minutes he brought a food menu and explained how it works, that dishes would come when they're ready etc and recommended 2 or 3 dishes each. After about 10 minutes we were brought a drinks menu, then almost immediately we were asked if we were ready to make our drink order. After another 5 minutes (of us looking at drinks) we finally ordered. The first dish that came out (after another 15 minutes of waiting) was the smoked haddock soufflé. It was the size of a cupcake, so a mouthful each. It was a little chewy and bland. £10 for that. Then, a good 10 minutes later the pearl barley ragu with goats cheese came out in a cute saute pan about the size of a saucer. It was also a little chewy, tasty, but with the absence of any other dish the texture was hard work. We noticed the table next to us tucking in to what looked like a marvellous feast while we waited another 15 minutes for another plate. At this point we were considering leaving. The last straw was the lamb ragu which came in a miniature saucepan. There was about 1-2 tbsp of shredded lamb in gravy with peas and a small pile of mini hash browns - the exact same frozen ones we buy for our kids. £13.50 for that dish. I have never complained in a restaurant but I couldn't carry on. I asked if we could pay for what we'd had and go because it had been so bad. The waiter was excellent, very gracious and insisted we try the other dishes for free, which he then retrieved from the pass immediately. Why we had been waiting again i have no idea. The only dish that stood out was the gnocchi with fennel sausage, but at £12.50 for 4 bits of gnocchi and half a mashed sausage is madness. If the food had been outstanding it may have been worth the time and cost but it was disappointing at every turn. The 2 stars are for the waiter who did his best to turn it round!
