Friendly atmosphere with great food. Reasonably price as well.

I don't understand the hype. The food is average and bloody expensive. We ended up paying approx £60 a head including a couple drinks and at that point you can go to a Michelin guide restaurant and have two courses and a bottle of wine. You're better off getting a kebab from a takeaway joint and having a few pints elsewhere. If it were half the price it'd be good value but at this price point I won't be returning anytime soon.

The portion is enough for 2 people. We ordered the sea bass and it was soooooo good. The ambience is also amazing

There were about 8 of us, and we booked one of the outdoor 'pods' and it was great. Really good sharing meze and attentive service ( which you need, when you're in a pod). Recommended

Absolutely 💯 terrible on all levels, food is poor. And consequently very little of it for the high cost. Also heard that the owner wishes not to be bothered by local people in herne/ whitstable, but aiming at Londoners. So putting the cost of the meals high. Will never go again. I have spoken to many locals too they all saying the company is full of arrogance. There are nicer places to eat, to support local businesses. Will never go again. Ever .

in my humble opinion this place is very expensive for average food. There were no prices on the drinks menu and we got stitched up £28 for a bottle of Pinot. if i ever go there again i will ask the price before i order.

Thanks to all the staff and Ivana for making our New Year 2024 celebration such an enjoyable family occasion. Great atmosphere, superb menu, food absolutely delicious, and to top it all staff were wonderful, polite and very welcoming too. Great evening worth waiting for. Be back again, very soon.

Shame about the waitress who stood behind us all night. Made us feel rushed despite not many people dining. Excellent food though.

We read very mixed reviews about the service at this restaurant but decided to ignore the bad reviews and I’m glad we did! We had a delicious, authentic Turkish meal with very attentive service. It was the best meal of our holiday in this area! But be warned, if you order mains they are quite pricey. We ordered one main and 4 starters between 3 of us (as we’d been told by friends that they give you free bread and salad) and it was still a bit too much! Absolutely lovely food, especially the boregi for starter and baklava for dessert. In opposition to many TA reviews the service was excellent for us (around 6.30pm on a Fri evening). There were lots of big groups arriving and it was very busy as we were leaving, so I’d suggest booking on the weekend.

Not too impressed so far… in booking a table for my daughter’s 21st for 5 people, they asked me for £10 per head deposit PLUS £25 non-refundable fee for the use of the outside pod before we even set foot in the place! 😳😳 Also, informed that there was a minimum spend of £160. Shocking! We would probably have easily spend this but, still, all this relayed at speed in one phone call! 🤣 Can appreciate if we had booked at a weekend and for a large number but this was for a Monday and there are only 5 of us! Bit money-grabby. Not a good impression. Shame, as it’s local for us and we would have visited lots.

You need to change your menu on the website I looked and thought the prices were good but went there last night and got a surprise everything gone up so much kleftico gone up my £10 a bottle of rose £29 will not be going back

Me and my wife visited this restaurant last Wednesday. I have to say first impressions were fantastic. Very welcoming, clean, mordern, spacious, organised and the atmosphere was great. The team all carried smiles too. It was our first visit to the chain so was excited to tuck in and explore the menu. Even though it is a little pricey to be honest we were not disappointed with the choices and quality of the food. Their portions are very generous so you can choose to be smart with your food choices to share and bring cost down. With the individual choices we chose there was plenty. We could have easily broke it down and felt fulfilled. Ivana our waitress was brilliant. She was attentive and knowledgeable. We did notice a minor issue with another table but the way she dealt with it was extremely professional. It is a great location on the seafront and amazing especially on a warm summers evening. There are tables and igloos outside. Highly recommend and will be visiting the other restaurants in the very near future. A big thank you to all the team for your hard work. Keep it up. Amazing food, my first experience here was outstanding. The second visit was just ok. For some reason they decided not to bring out the complimentary bread with dip which they did last time whilst we were waiting for food. I asked the waitress who said she would bring it out with the main meal, which doesn't make sense. Please serve your customers the bread with the garlic dip like you always have whilst clients waiting for food this really is a highlight. For me anyways.

Racists, bad service, I paid 176 for food that did not contain salt, and we asked to sit at an outside table, but he said we want to book first, and this is not true, and finally we asked for tea, and the waiters said that they do not serve tea now, even though it is 9:30!!! All this because I wear the hijab!!

We ask for Turkish tea but they ignored us. No baklava lol vey unfriendly

Very unfair we spend £177 pounds and 21:20 pm ask for tea and we are told that we not serving tea now. Very bad service and the person name Ali was so arrogant. Not going to eat again there! Other Turkish restaurants normally they bring baklava but hear nothing.

Our experience was , little slow service considering wasn’t busy , waiters need more smiley faces , our orders delayed longer than it should’ve have been, food was tasty & displayed fine however it is overpriced for what they were also , most of Turkish restaurants we’ve been to complementary bread & mini pots of dips makes our waits so much enjoyable however ,this restaurant gives complimentary bread when your starter order arriving without any complementary dips ! So over all we thought overpriced , it wasn’t the best delicious Turkish food however tasted good enough !

First visit with our dog skittle. Waitress was really lovely brought water for Skittle as it was boiling hot day. The lunch menu was great value. The Falafel starter with salad and pitta bread was beautiful. Followed by Lamb Kofta and Chicken shish. Again so much food and beautifully cooked. The lunch was £20 for two dished £25 for three. Glad we only had two no room for third. Highly recommended.

Great food and a nice situation on the seafront parade in Herne Bay. Perfect for a leisurely lunch on a warm sunny Friday afternoon.

Nice location and atmosphere. Food was good except for one item which was very disappointing in size and quality. I did let the server know but there wasn't any apology or move to rectify it. Such a shame. But other than that, all was good. (Lambs liver is recommended...but add some lemon to it :) )

Fresh bread & Salad with Albanian Liver & Sucuk Starters - absolutely fantastic for lunch! Just the liver on it's would have sufficed..

As Vegans it can be difficult when away somewhere new to find restaurants that have good Vegan options. A La Turka is absolutely wonderful! The food is absolutely delicious, plenty of choices and the staff are extremely helpful with options. Cannot wait to return!

Lovely food apart from the calamari was like eating elastic bands that's the 5 time in a row it's been like that it's also got very expensive drinks are a rip off lot of staff running around like headless chickens not using any common sense apart from that really good food either take calamari off the menu or get somebody who knows how to cook it

I booked a pod for 9 guests for my best friends 50th birthday Herne Bay our waiter was Emmet I have to say from beginning to end our experience was fantastic. The food was fabulous and Emmet was just everything you want from a waiter he had a smile on his face all night his service was impeccable truly amazing I applaud you and your team for a fabulous evening thank you so very much

Wow, the food was excellent. Very flavorful and good vegetarian options. The courgette fritters, associated salad and pita bread, and vegetarian moussaka were delicious. The restaurant has a seaside view and pleasant ambiance.

Visited on a Friday night, cannot fault anything! Manager was lovely, changed our booking time without an issue. Food came out so quick, I was shocked! Every thing was amazing! Good quality good, cooked perfectly. Nice atmosphere, opposite the sea which is also a bonus. Will definitely be back ☺️

The food was flavourful but the service was not to standard. There wasnt a genuine, friendly atmosphere. The waitress also claimed they didn’t take Amex when the restaurant is included in the Amex website. The waitress seemed to be more concerned with saving a card fee then leaving a good impression to customers and being dishonest.

Came here tonight with family as we used to eat here all the time, service was ok bit hit and miss. Starters were nice and come quick had to keep asking were other starters were. Then the waitress come over and said would we like any more drinks we said yes but they never come. Then our mains come nice and hot but very very spicy not like before, we added a portion of chips and chicken wings which we never received. Manager was very apologetic and removed items from bill which we never got and removed 2 drinks. Might just be an off night but there was only 7/8 tables with 4/5 waiter/waitresses

This is the second time we have visited, and it did not disappoint. We first came one winter’s evening in the middle of a rainstorm. The manager, Hannah, dropped everything to give us a lift to the station so that we wouldn’t miss the last train back to London! Her kindness, plus the memory of the amazing Ali Nazik(pureed, aubergine, and yoghurt, with butter-soft, lamb cubes) which is literally one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. We will keep coming back to this restaurant as it really is something special.

Mousakka possibly the worst I have ever had. Like a pile of leftovers thrown together. Horrid. However, the Adana was good.

Popped in for abit of lunch, sat in the garden which was lovely. We shared some mezze items, hummus with lamb, plain hummus and lamb meatballs, all came with bread and they sell gluten free bread too which was amazing. We got a free salad. Plenty of food for 3 people, amazing quality. Highly recommend

Wow! Just wow! Booked a pod for a birthday event, very clean, very well furnished, staff where every attentive and quick. Food came out fast and was delicious. Big portions, very tasty. A birthday drink was brought out with birthday music playing- we were all made to feel so special this afternoon. Will visit again cant recommend enough.

The worst place I've eaten in a long time. Service was OK, but the food was terrible. I ordered vegetarian moussaka because I lived in Greece and love moussaka. It was £17 so not cheap but happy to pay for a good meal as I understand running costs have gone up hugely I'm hospitality. I didn't even recognise it as moussaka. It was a tiny portion. The portion of rice that came with it was bigger. And it was tasteless. Very disappointing.

Do not order takeaway from this A La Turka. We've tried three times and each time was a frustrating experience to say the least. The first time our order failed to be delivered despite taking our order and our payment. The second time we tried to avoid the delivery variable and collect our order in person. We collected (having to wait long past the confirmed time), and discovered on returning home, a number of key items were missing. The third and final time, we again went to collect our order. Not only had the kitchen not started our order, a rude member of staff lied and said it would be 2 minutes without even checking. Whilst waiting, a rather drunk customer came up to where I was standing, started shouting and being abusive. I would have left, never to return if it wasn't for the efforts of one staff member Lilly who tried to resolve everything amicably. The food can be good, but is generally hit and miss, and the service on a whole is terrible.

Absolutely wonderful ! We have been several times before, and it is always the same standard of food. This time we had 8 of the family plus my 22 month old great grandson, and the staff (in particular Ivanna) were very attentive, really making a fuss of him. A very relaxed atmosphere, take your time and enjoy your meal.

Turned up at 11am looking forward to a Turkish breakfast. It states on the website the restaurant opens at 11am! We walked in and was not acknowledged at all by staff! Members of staff saw us standing there and just stood out the back looking at us. I was stood waiting and saying “hello” for several minutes and still not acknowledged. The restaurant staff saw us waiting with a young baby until I finally strongly asked them are they open? To which one member of staff said “no we open at 12” I explained this is not what it stated on the website, he had no reply to this. AWFUL customer service to just let us stand there for 5 minutes, look at us without any acknowledgment. Rude staff!

Friendly and professional staff. Nice premises and garden. We had a mix grill that serves two people, plus a starter, Ayran, tea and coffee. The meat, halloumi and fries were dry and almost tasteless. Definitely I'll not visit again.

Had a surprise birthday celebration here Sat 8th organised by my family. The staff couldn't have been more attentative. As we stood at the front having photo's with me still not knowing we turned to go through the door and the staff stood ready to welcome the 14 of us. From here on in everything was spot on, the food, the atmosphere everything perfect. They simply couldn't do more to make it a great night. Normally love A La Turka in Ramsgate, but had a bad experience in Herne Bay. Booked here but when we showed up our table wasn’t ready. They offered to cram us in at a table blocked in my a pram, and with a large party behind it it would mean we had to literally touch people at the other table. We asked if we could use one of the pods outside instead as they were all empty. We were told we could but it would be subject to a £140 minimum. As we were a table of three, that didn’t make sense. When we came back for our table at the time they said it would be ready, they’d given it to someone else.

7 of us for dinner. The restaurant is welcoming, well decorated, nice atmosphere, staff were friendly. The food was terrific, perfectly cooked, very tasty and we all enjoyed everything that we ordered. But what lets them down is the service. It's not horrible, just needs to be more professional. The staff are all nice and friendly, but the attentiveness is lacking. I waited 5 minutes for my main while everyone else was tucking into theirs, nobody came by to check that all was good after we were all eating. Then we asked for dessert and it took ten minutes for anyone to take out order, then another 15 before any dessert actually arrived, the whole time one of the plates from the main course remained uncleared. Then we finally had to go and ask for the bill after another 10 minutes. They just need to work on the service a bit harder to make this an excellent restaurant. That being said, 90% was really good so would definitely come back.

My food was quite good but my husbands and our 2 friends food was not good. Not much taste to theirs. Garlic mushrooms had the garlic missing,no where near enough. Service was terrible ,kept waiting for ages ,didn't get asked if we'd like any more drinks. No Service personnel came near us . Shame it wasn't a better experience. We were all looking forward to the evening. Was lucky enough to speak to the manager before we paid ,he seemed ever so apologetic about our experience.

Went here with friends and although the food was good serve was awful. Got our starters fairly quickly although they seemed to completely forget about our mains until we caught the eye of one of the staff. Also at no time did anyone come over to our table and ask if we required more drinks even though our glasses were empty. Sorry but won't be visiting again

On Monday, a table for 8 people very good food , but the front staff leaves a lot to be desired, they don't know the menu, they don't know, how to open the wine bottle when they hold glasses, they put their hands in the glasses, forget about you, have to call them for the nex order, the menus are very soft and full of fat

The kebabs were so tasty and addicting

Really disappointed with this. Ordered a take away and the hummus had meat added in the dish, I'm a vegetarian so this was a complete waste of money. Veggie moussaka was bland and ended up getting sick after eating it. Wouldn't recommend.

Extensive menu, a good range of veggie options. Generous portions, all freshly prepared and utterly delicious. They offer dining pods outside if you're looking for something a bit special, or covered and uncovered (for the warmer months!) seating where dogs are welcome (not sure if they're allowed in the indoor restaurant...) Although they do offer a takeaway service, and do their best to package the food for travelling I would recommend eating in to have it at its best.
