A lovely restaurant in the heart of Canterbury. Nicely prepared and presented food; our main courses were the salmon and lamb shoulder, both of which were excellent. The building is interesting and we had seats overlooking the courtyard, which was delightful. Last but not least, the service was friendly and attentive. The lamb was dissected and served beautifully. An excellent restaurant and there aren’t too many of this calibre in Maidstone, which is our beck of the woods.

A fabulous meal and, as always, great service in comfy, laid back surroundings. 3 of us shared olives and two starters, followed by salmon, duck confit and a turkey thigh take on Christmas dinner which was superb. For dessert we shared a treacle tart (unctuous to perfection) and honeycomb ice cream and blood orange sorbet. This is one of Canterbury's nicest and best places to eat..we have been here many times and never been disappointed.

Went for lunch with my Mum, excellent service and very good value set menu. I had the flat iron steak with a side of delicious chips. Unfortunately my steak was overdone, I asked for medium but it was well done-I didn't mention it at the time-i'm sure they would have made me another if I made a fuss, but it was still OK. Mum had fish pie which she enjoyed. Treacle tart for desert was very good.

Located in the heart of Canterbury, The Corner House offers a memorable dining experience. We have been served by Liam, whose friendly and attentive service elevates the atmosphere, the restaurant serves standout dishes like the rich, velvety carrot and lentil soup, and the expertly crafted Beef Wellington. The beef is perfectly cooked, wrapped in flaky pastry, and complemented by a delicious mushroom duxelles. For great food and warm, personalised service, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommended! An absolutely superb Sunday lunch. We had the Beef Wellington, which was perfectly cooked, as were the vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. The home-baked bread was outstanding, and the service was as good as it gets. Our waiter made us feel completely at home, and even refused a more generous tip when we offered it (the service charge is only 10%). We look forward to our next visit!

Flawless. Lovely building great rooms, excellent food. Service top notch. The only thing to be aware of is the proximity to a main road, which you don't notice once you're in, and you have to use a subway under the road to get to the town centre. But this does not take away from the place itself.

Such a lovely greeting on arrival from Emma. We had a drink it the bar while we waiting for our friends. Two of us had the Roast Beef with all the trimmings which was cooked to perfection. Three had the Pork which they all enjoyed. They asked us if we wanted the gravy separate which we did. Desert was also very good a combination of Rum and Raison Ice cream, Honeycomb ice cream, Sticky toffee pudding and cheese cake. All very very good. Our Waiter Traklis was extremely Polite and helpful. We sat in the conservatory with a lovely view of the garden. Emma said if it was too cold she could close the door to the garden as she could see one of our friends was very frail. Please thank all the kitchen staff for there attention to detail. We stayed at the Corner House for 2 nights and ate at the restaurant for one of those. When we first arrived, I was a little concerned about the location on a super busy road. But we had asked for a quiet room and we were very happy with our cozy and quiet room. The location was excellent, right outside the city walls. A Continental breakfast was served to our door each morning which was just right for us. The Corner House is loaded with charm and our only regret was that it was too cold to sit in their lovely courtyard. The restaurant was excellent! Our server was delightful and the food was creative and absolutely delicious. I chose the Corner House because it was unique and for it's location and excellent restaurant reviews. Even if you don't choose to stay in this quirky and character inn, I highly recommend booking dinner!

Not good. The uncomfortable mattress meant five and a half hours of sleep, so pls avoid this place if you have back problems. The gallery on their website shows a cafetiere in each room. Great, I thought before I got there - but not so, because they don't provide coffee at all. Just sachets of decaf instant "coffee"and various tea bags. When will hotels stop penny pinching and give guests fresh coffee! Even Wetherspoons and McDonald's don't expect their customers to drink instant. So, the cafetiere is completely pointless unless you bring your own ground coffee. There was no bedside table, just a little ledge taken up with a bedside lamp which I couldn't use because the switch was behind the headboard. I had to put my phone on the floor. The air conditioning didn't work. The sound on the TV was wrong. Breakfast was good quality but very high in carbs and somewhat low in protein and I felt uncomfortable consuming sugary food first thing in the morning. The room was nicely decorated and clean, but it doesn't make up for everything else.

My husband booked dinner and an overnight stay here for our anniversary. We attended our dinner and WOW what a meal we had!! The food was amazing, we had a sharing starter, Beef Wellington for main and sharing dessert. The Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. All the different flavours in all the dishes was mouth watering. Customer service was amazing, all the staff knew what they were serving us when we asked. Our room was lovely. The only downfall and reason why it lost a star was because the mattress was not comfortable at all, it dipped on one side and was bedframe creaked everytime you moved in the bed, therefore we didn't get a great night's sleep. To end the trip we had a lovely breakfast brought up to our room in the morning.

We booked here after reading some excellent reviews and we left disappointed. The main courses were nice but the starter was nothing special and way too overpriced for the food you get. The service was poor, the guy who was serving our table as soon as we arrived seemed really annoyed, definitely not welcoming. Then a lady took over and she seemed nicer. My partner found lipstick on his wine glass. £154 for 3 people plus a toddler (3 mains, 1 starter, 2 glasses of wine, 1 beer and a toddler menu) and they serve tap water. If you want to overcharge people, you should have better standards. They added the service charge on the bill without even asking and we asked for it to be removed, the audacity of adding the service charge (about £15 extra) when you're given a dirty glass to drink from was insulting. We won't be going back, there're plenty of places in Canterbury that serve much better food for half of the price. Cote in town is on a completely different level for fine dining compared to this one, we should have sticked to that! And they also have the class to give you the option to add the service charge when paying the bill instead, even though they totally deserve it every time!

For mains we shred a roast shoulder of lamb, perfectly cooked and so tender. Two chaps out for a rather long lunch were treated to excellent service and a meal in which every dish and drink was 'done right'. A special mention for the Beef Wellington. We deliberated at length whether to order it because we both agreed that when done right it's a great dish but so often in other restaurants it's not done well. Here though, it was out of the top drawer and we found ourselves spontaneously, if quietly, applauding. We did 'go the distance' when it came to testing out the length and breadth of the bar. Wine, cocktails, everything came right temperature, right glass and where appropriate with the right paraphernalia. Small things make a difference. So, in short, we loved it.

The gentleman behind the bar was quite stony faced and not particularly warm and welcoming or attentive with service but we were late for our table so I wondered if this was why. Our waiter, however, more than made up for this with a very warm demeanor and prompt service. The gluten free menu was extensive. Children's menu was a little lacking in inspiration. Dishes such as suet pudding are rare to find already, but the suet pastry was perfect, that's to say light. Real pork scratchings, mustard sauce, real gravy, twice cooked souffle, all great. We love the Corner House in Canterbury - we live in London but have been down twice now for lunch. Both times has been absolutely delicious food, you can definitely feel that it’s a chef-led concept, menu, food; lovely cosy atmosphere; and staff are friendly and chatty and attentive. Greatly recommend the pork belly, had it both times we visited! Also has a great wine list.

Wonderful food great staff. I can recommend both the Minster and Canterbury venue. We stayed in a lovely en suite in Canterbury overlooking the main road. Total peace double glazed luxury. Wonderful breakfast with Prosecco who could ask for more?

I took my sister and my parents for my moms birthday. The booking process was very easy but the service was a chaos. We ordered two kid menus and a Sunday Roast Beef and fish. The kids menus arrived instantly but the beef and fish took 1 hour. They said they were having technical difficulties and I waited patiently and understood the situation.Once the food came ,they brought 2 beef roast instead of 1 beef roast and one fish.We tried to tell the waiter it was wrong but we couldn’t.Then we changed out mind because we didn’t wanted to wait more for one dish. Then literally the waiter pulled the dish out of my hand and gave it to the other woman sitting next to us.I tried to say I started it but he didn’t listen. Then they gave us the correct dish. Finally, they came to apologise and that was a kind gesture. But overall the food was amazing but the service was very poor.

Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding meal. We stumbled across this Canterbury gem after a torrid and very long day of flat-hunting in adjacent south of Kent. We had read no reviews ... we didn't have time. I had a flat-iron steak which came from the kitchen medium rare (exactly as ordered). The accompanying blue cheese sauce was rich without overwhelming the steak. The sides were ample and as well-treated as the steak. Hot crisp chips. Al dente broccoli stalks. A delectable and unanticipated shredded venison croquete. Perfect fresh treacle bread. A quenchingly hoppy local Canterbury IPA. My partner's venison and leek pudding and mashed potato and gravy were also presented beautifully and were delicious. We ate in the garden under easily controlled bar heaters and we didn't need the soft inviting blankets supplied. The ladies serving us were so friendly and attentive. If my review sounds a bit OTT, it's because cynical old me expects to be disappointed by many a restaurant, and the complete opposite in a bit of an off-the-beaten-track venue outside the Canterbury main precinct brought huge pleasure and satisfaction. They know what they're doing, and they're doing it so well, we can't wait to return.

We had tempura oysters & the ½ lobster. Both excellent. The lobster took a while to arrive but we weren't in any hurry. It was worth waiting for. We will be back next time we are in the area.

I recently attended a Christmas gathering with my work colleagues, and it was truly a night to remember. Dorota’s exceptional service made the evening seamless and enjoyable. She was attentive, professional, and brought a warm, festive spirit to the event. The food was lovely and perfect for the occasion. The live music was the icing on the cake, adding a magical touch to the atmosphere and making the experience all the more special. A huge thank you to Dorota for making our celebration unforgettable! Highly recommend!

This is a review of the Abode Brasserie. The restaurant is a small plate eatery, we've been to a few small plate places and really enjoyed them, the menu sounded interesting and we wanted something a bit special as we were only in Canterbury for one night. We were met at the entrance by a man who waved us in the general direction of some tables and said we could choose where to sit, bit odd but fine. We sat down and after a few minutes he brought a food menu and explained how it works, that dishes would come when they're ready etc and recommended 2 or 3 dishes each. After about 10 minutes we were brought a drinks menu, then almost immediately we were asked if we were ready to make our drink order. After another 5 minutes (of us looking at drinks) we finally ordered. The first dish that came out (after another 15 minutes of waiting) was the smoked haddock soufflé. It was the size of a cupcake, so a mouthful each. It was a little chewy and bland. £10 for that. Then, a good 10 minutes later the pearl barley ragu with goats cheese came out in a cute saute pan about the size of a saucer. It was also a little chewy, tasty, but with the absence of any other dish the texture was hard work. We noticed the table next to us tucking in to what looked like a marvellous feast while we waited another 15 minutes for another plate. At this point we were considering leaving. The last straw was the lamb ragu which came in a miniature saucepan. There was about 1-2 tbsp of shredded lamb in gravy with peas and a small pile of mini hash browns - the exact same frozen ones we buy for our kids. £13.50 for that dish. I have never complained in a restaurant but I couldn't carry on. I asked if we could pay for what we'd had and go because it had been so bad. The waiter was excellent, very gracious and insisted we try the other dishes for free, which he then retrieved from the pass immediately. Why we had been waiting again i have no idea. The only dish that stood out was the gnocchi with fennel sausage, but at £12.50 for 4 bits of gnocchi and half a mashed sausage is madness. If the food had been outstanding it may have been worth the time and cost but it was disappointing at every turn. The 2 stars are for the waiter who did his best to turn it round!
