The best restaurants in Northgate Canterbury South East

I’ve been here a few times and the quality is consistently excellent. They serve the nicest coffees in Canterbury by a long shot and their kimchi toastie is absolutely delicious. In addition I always receive very friendly and cheerful service.

We visited for a bottomless brunch. The overall experience was hugely let down by the disappointing service. The drinks were incredibly slow to arrive and we felt rushed throughout. Our food all came out at completely different times, meaning some of us had finished eating before one person even got their meal—despite food constantly coming out of the kitchen and passing her, but not being hers. The one positive aspect was the food runner, Ethan, who was extremely understanding of the situation without us even having to say anything. However, the "manager” completely ruined the experience. He was rude, dismissive and constantly talked over us when we tried to explain our issues and offered no compensation. Rather than listening, he argued back, which left us completely taken aback. To add to this our reason for brunch was a birthday with was not accommodated to despite us putting it in our booking notes and mentioning it on the day. ALSO our deposit was not taken off the bill, something we also had to sort with the unpleasant “manager” and despite this being a "bottomless" brunch, our drinks were rarely full to the top. We were seated completely out of the restaurant area and by the bathrooms. Meaning we were freezing for most of the time due to the constant use of a nearby door for smoking area and people coming in and out constantly for the toilets. There was no real atmosphere or music either, just background noise of the rugby…again…because we were not seated in the restaurant area!!! To top it off, we were rushed off our table for another booking, yet it took over 10 minutes before they even got around to cleaning it—time we could have spent inside instead of standing in the freezing cold. Overall, while the food was delicious, the drinks were ok, the disorganised service and poor management completely overshadowed the experience. Would not return.

The best sushi I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Amazing price for the amount of sushi you get and quality of ingredients used. Also a great selection of non sushi dishes. My Nan had the Katsu chicken curry which was also fantastic. The Chef and waitress were great and very welcoming when you arrive and makes sure you have everything you need while you are there. Would highly recommend anyone to try this wonderful restaurant.

I had the beef brisket for £35, which has no go withs, so added chips and a very small mac and cheese, which came to £45 in total. The brisket was dry, chewy and extremely salty. For £45 in Canterbury I’m expecting a spot on meal, which this was not!

I've been here before and left a 5* review then. This is another one. New information - the biryani is just wonderful. Proper Indian biryani - beautiful rice, spices and meat with a superb vegetable curry to go with it.
