The manager in this place so rude i went in there for breakfast and she said they not open even the website shows 11:00 am it was 11:10 when I walked in she didn’t even let me stay in and wait disrespectful woman.

I generally love Turkish food and tend to go to Turkish restaurants quite often. A La Turka is hands down the best one I’ve been to. Lovely atmosphere, kind waitress, tasty food. My kids loved the food too. Good job for making all this possible Mehmed, you’ve come a long way.

Lovely Turkish restaurant. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Reasonably priced for the quality of food served. Restaurant was immaculately clean throughout.

The food is so good and worth every penny! We had the lamb chops which were so moreish and a few of the sharing platters which were equally as good! The cocktails were so good and the service was unfaulted. Would go again!

We ate here with friends after going axe throwing at the boom bar close by. Great service and lovely restaurant. The food was tasty however expensive for what it was. A posh shish kebab for £22 is very expensive in my opinion. We paid £80 per couple for one course each, 4 beers and a bottle of wine £25 bottle so not an overly expensive one. The restaurant was quiet for a Saturday night so maybe that's why due to high prices.

The food was so fresh and flavorful, I didn't try one thing I didn't love. And the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommended

Last visited here a few years ago, at that time this was a really good place to go. Nice food, great service prices matched the quality. Sadly looks like things have gone down hill. A steep increase in prices ( avg starter £8-£10 (bowl of lentil soup £9!) Mains avg £23, yet the quality of food and service has dropped. Priced higher than your normal high street restaurants but not matching in quality. Food was bland, small and ...therefore over priced. Service was basic, polite but nothing more than the minimum. Whatever you were doing 3-4 years ago - go back to that because it was very good!! And PS. Fix the closing device on the door, it's a cheap fix, customers shouldn't have to keep getting up to close the door.

Just had a really lovely lunch A la Turka in Canterbury. Well cooked, authentic Turkish food at affordable prices. We opted for the sharing platter which came piled high with lamb, chicken, couscous, vegetables, kebabs and ribs. It was very tasty and extremely good value for money. The atmosphere was good and the service was efficient and friendly. I can highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic Turkish experience.

Really lovely night out, we were very well looked after and Dorota, our waitress was super efficient (and very funny) and really added to the enjoyment of the evening. Food was delicious all round, fresh and flavoursome and plenty of it, 3 vegetarians and 3 meat eaters equally happy and satisfied. Highly recommend and definitely will be back!

Food here is good… once it finally reached us. They seem to be understaffed because it was over an hour until we got our food, the wrong dish was brought out first then had to be switched out. We only realised afterward that we were missing a side that we had ordered. Not on the nicest road so sitting outside was not that pleasant, I’m not sure how it compares to the tables inside. This being said, I would give another a la Turka location a go, just not this one again.

The food tasted good for what you pay for. But service was a major issue - there were only 3 tables when we got there and it took 20mins for them to take our order and over 30mins for our food to come out. They also never served us our side of bulgar with our halep kebab. For this price, you can do better than this place.

Bel posto dove potete assaporare piatti tipici del sud East Turco.Le pietanze sono speziate il giusto formando un mix di gusti che non nascondono mai ma arricchiscono ed esaltano il sapore tipico di ogni alimento, un mix di sapori che non stanca il palato ma lo ravviva ad ogni assaggio.. Quale sia la portata scelta viene accompagnata sempre da una rappresentazione allegra e calda come lo è la cucina mediterranea. Nella selezione dei piatti che io e i miei amici abbiamo scelto per la serata sono rimasto davvero stupito dalla cottura della varie pietanze di carne accompagnate da un fondo di buonissimo riso, la carne era davvero squisita. Concludendo la cena abbiamo scelto un trio di dessert tipici della regione.Ogni dessert racchiudeva un sapore deciso e squisito.Dei vari dolci in menù, abbiamo scelto Tre Dessert uno più buono dell'altro, ho apprezzato molto la Torta al cioccolato guarnita con biscottini arricciati e una pallina di gelato alla vaniglia, il tutto accompagnato da una bella e squisita fetta di arancia che donava un occo mediterraneo. Concludo complimentandomi con lo staff della cucina e con i camerieri tutti gentili e simpaticissimi. Un plauso va alla sala molto accogliente, moderna e allo stesso tempo rustica in quanto con eleganza e semplicità mostra la cultura tipica Turca. A la TurKa è un ottimo ristorante dove passare in allegria la serata con amici e famigliari assaporando ottime pietanze tipiche del posto. Consigliatissimo, detto da un Italiano amante del cibo. Buono davvero!

My boyfriend and I visited with a voucher for a late Christmas present, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the environment was warming, the food was to a beautiful standard and we will definitely be back for more! Great value for money and delicious cocktails! Thank you! :)

Very disappointed ,having been to all the other ala turka restaurants this one was extremely shabby ,there was paint peeling off the ceiling ,the toilets were filthy and staff not friendly ...wouldn't be returning..

The food was well cooked and very tasty however, the passion fruit moiijo I ordered was not so good and at £10 a cocktail this was disappointing. We sat near the door which was in constant use so we kept getting a cold draft which was annoying. If you eat there make sure they don't seat you near the door as you'll get a constant chilly reminder that it's winter now. Apart from that I would go back there again but ask for a different area to sit down in and not order a cocktail.

Brilliant experience, wonderful friendly staff and lovely setting. The food was delicious, I especially enjoyed the king prawn starter as the sauce was so flavoursome. My husband ordered a chicken dish which was really tasty. We were offered salad and chargrilled pitta which was really outstanding. What a wonderful, well spent evening out.

I was in search of a quick lunch before a hearing in the nearby family court. I’d often passed this Turkish restaurant on foot as well as its sister restaurant closer to Canterbury West station, but this was the first time I’d ventured in. There was no lunch menu only a la carte available from which I chose lamb’s liver shish on rice. This was a substantial meal in itself but then came a huge bowl of salad as well as another with pitta bread. All a bit overwhelming. Good that a 500cl bottle of Efes was available.

Can not recommend this more than 5 stars, service , food quality and the staff . You will not be disappointed....try it.

The food was very nice. Although i think it was pretty expensive but the quantity justified it. It can get quite filling.

Went for a what I though was going to be a nice meal but the waitress was so rude. Her name was Mira. She made a comment about my appearance. She had a real attitude problem. Food was very mediocre, avoid at all cost please!!!!

Pop in for lunch had lamb beyti and wow what can I say....it was amazing. We had travelled up from.hastings for a short stay and come across this restaurant. Would highly recommend. Nothing was too much trouble the food was outstanding and left a healthy tip too. Definitely must try we will certainly be going back

Once a year I come back to Canterbury and I have to come back to Ala Turka. Spotless, staff very kind and helpful, delicious food. See you next year!

Newly relocated to Kent and wanted to explore Canterbury. It was a meal of 2 parts, either extremely tasty or extremely bland. The calamari was overcooked, the fritters and lamb underseasoned but everything else was delicious. Portions are generous and about average on price. The staff were polite and professional. If you eat outside (on a Saturday night) you contend with noisy traffic and people smoking, inside rather loud music.

Save yourself the time and money and DO NOT EAT HERE! Calamari was undercooked, tiny portions of meat and the worst service I've ever had. Had to wait over 30 minutes just for starters (bearing in mind the restaurant wasn't even busy and the staff were just standing around talking!) Waitress with long dark hair was so unfriendly, forgot to give us glasses and clearly forgot to even place our order. Do not come here!

Amazing restaurant with fantastic staff. Very clean and we'll decorated. Nice gentle music in the background. Genuine authentic Turkish menu. The flavours are unreal. You won't be disappointed and you certainly won't leave Feeling hungry. I had the King prawns to start, the sauce was amazing even my wife who doesn't eat fish enjoyed the sauce with Pitta bread. Prawns were also really nice quality and cooked really well. My wife had Mititi kofte, again fantastic starter. Main I had Halep Kebab, which was unreal. Well recommend, a nice kick to it but not so spicy a wimp like me couldn't enjoy it. Simply brilliant. My wife had mixed shish with yogurt. The lamb was amazing, chicken brilliant the sauce again fantastic, well recommend. We enjoyed a few cocktails aswell. We ordered x2 Al a Turka delights. Such a beautiful cocktail well recommend, presentation was superb. You'd think we was in a top London cocktail bar. £8.95. 100% worth it. I also enjoyed a "Hugo" which has become my new favorite cocktail. Sensational. In summery, 100% return again. Well recommend. Zero faults. Fantastic food. We ordered the Ala Turks Special Platter. It was enough for 5 of us. All the meats were cooked to perfection and super tasty. Highly recommended.

We decided to visit A La Turka last night for my son's birthday because we had such a good experience in the past. The service was pleasant and friendly. We ordered the mixed kebab, and all the meats were beautiful, very tasty and enjoyable until we got to the kofta 🙈 , usual our favourite part of the meal. It was super salty to the extent that it put my husband off kofta for good. The be fair, the lovely waiter did offer a freshly made kofta to eat in or take away, but the damage had already been done. My husband was offered a drink on the house which was welcomed at the time. The fresh salads and Turkish bread are always fresh and delicious.

Absolutely fantastic food with lovely staff. Fresh ingredients and extensive menu. Always so tasty and lots of vegetarian options. Have been going to this restaurant for years and will always return. Have never had a less than perfect experience. Thank you a la Turka

Excellent food and professional, attentive staff. Don’t be fooled by it’s location in Northgate. A La Turka is authentic and one of the best restaurants in Canterbury. They also have great mocktails if you are driving.

This is a lovely little restaurant. Chicken casserole was very nice, and came with a large serving of salad, chips & a basket of warm bread that they insisted on refilling. Wine selection is not too bad, either. The service was great without being intrusive.

My wife is Turkish and she was not impressed with the food. The Adana kebab was poorly presented and the bulgur was the worst she has ever had. It does not compare favourably with other A La Turkas we have visited.

Come to this restaurant if you want to inhale cigarette smoke as you eat, get stared at by the waiters and get served cold and leftover food

The meal is very delicious, the place is warm, but very long and personal really not smiling especially the lady, The smile should be free.

Tasty fresh meals. Very fresh tasty salad accompaniment. We enjoyed the flavours of what we ate. Cosy lighting and nice decor.

Wonderful service and amazing staff. We came here for my graduation meal, we had to leave early as we were running late and could not eat the food, so they reheated the food for us on the grill when we came back after the ceremony, despite closing they stayed open for us. It was much appreciated and would definitely come back here again. One of the best Turkish meals we had!

Wonderful food, drink, ambience, what more do you need? I had tried to book the West Gate restaurant as I didn't know exactly where this one was, they failed to pick up the phone nor answer my email so I set about finding this one, what a find! Brilliant food, brilliant well kept draft beer and fantastic and attentive staff

The venue is nicely set out, appears clean and beautifully decorated. However, the menu was different to the meals I have regularly eaten Turkish food and this was SHOCKING to say the least. This restaurant should be ashamed and I was disappointed with my Moussaka; boiled mince on an aubergine bed topped with bottled cheese sauce.... how terrible. Alarm bells should have rung when I looked at the liver; came out looking like bits of meat on a plate and some rocket. The portions are also ridiculous - certainly not enough for a grown man. We won't be going there again.

Ordered a cheesecake... Paid £7 for it, the portion was very tinny and strawberries were frozen, cutlery was dirty and the ice cream had already melted, an absolut waste of money

Absolutely best chicken shish and hummus I ever had. 100% recommended.

The Food came out which was cold, when we spoke to the waiter he was arguing with us that it’s was a busy night and basically that’s how it was. We asked to speak to the manager who came and we explained it to her that out off 3 meals only one was hot she took them away and it was obvious that they must have reheated them in a microwave as they were back in no time and the food was warm not hot! We was much looking forward to eating her but night was totally let down by food and service.

I absolutely love Turkish mezze and A La Turka in Northgate, Canterbury did not disappoint. So much so we ordered more mezze dishes for our main course! We enjoyed excellent service. Waiters were very friendly and it easy to get their attention when required I felt the restaurant was very clean, which in this day and age is very important. A fab night. I recommend with confidence and will definitely return.

Fantastic local restaurant, great menu with lots of options. The food is delicious every time we visit and we are never disappointed. The price is real value for money. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the service is always excellent. This is a great place for Christmas work parties, family celebrations or a regular meal out. Highly recommended.

I went here today with my fiancée and little one. They were most accommodating and the service was excellent, food was good and a nice ambience. Nice Efes beer also!

Made an order via uber eats. Added a baklava as dessert - where the description said it would come with italian gelato. However, no gelato was sent. Baklava tasted horribly sweet. Cutlery ordered - no cutlery came. No sauces either. Called the restaurant to inform them - they said they can't do anything about it (the guy on the phone just did not care).

Food is very nice, restaurant is clean and pretty. One minus: service was slow and we was only 2 tables in the whole restaurant. Maybe not lucky day.

Visited for the first time recently with a group of friends. Service was excellent from the start and the food is superb and very tasty. Something a little different for a great night out.

I love Turkish food and would eat it regularly. The price of the food here is very similar to the ones in London but the quality is not upto the par. The service was good though. I would not eat here again.

Amazing! The food was so good and it’s more filling than it looks. I had the Lamb shish with yogurt (chef special) and my goodness it was delicious. I had a side of bulger which was a tasty change to rice. The table also gets a sharing salad and flat bread which compliments the meal perfectly. Was so good I ordered a takeaway version on Uber eats a few days later and and extra to take home with me back to london the following day. Price wise, it is a little pricy but standard for eating out at a nice restaurant. Around £30-£40 a head with starters and alcoholic drinks. Highly recommend.

Turkish kebabs as you would expect but probably a little better! Get a table at the back if you want a little more of a buzz or at the front if you want something quiet. I had the aubergine lamb kebab which was hmm yum!

Disappointing. Lovely food, but the service was surly, slow and poor. A long wait for everything and I needed to prompt the waiter to take my drink order as well having to get up to find a waiter to ask for the bill, which, when it was presented, was wrong!

I never had so delicious Turkish food. They are opening soon in Withstable too. Star of the menu is halloumi it was very soft.

Great food (reasonable price), good service and a really lovely set-up - we found ourselves eating on a big patio with a retractable room. Nice atmosphere too - lots of people still there at 1000 on a Tuesday night. The portions were absolutely huge! Cons: None Conclusion: Lovely place. You should visit. I'd definitely visit again. Really disappointed. The service was amazing, and food tasted great. However both myself and my friend ended the day with really bad cramps and spending time in the toilet... Definitely need to re-evaluate the food they are serving if it's giving customers food poisoning! And just to clarify we had only eaten home food that day so it could've only been food from this restaurant.
