Love it in here, we’re local and come quite often. It’s so peaceful and we’re always left full without feeling like we’ve overindulged. The sushi is excellent, but salmon heavy- some tuna would be great. Service is gentle and largely good, although they don’t tend to accommodate even small requests like bringing the food at the same time, giving us some sirracha sauce and bringing crockery/cutlery when food is delivered to table. The space is a little cold, both in temperature and decor- the clumsiness of the partition curtain only detracts from the space. That being said, we keep going back! Bring cash if you want to tip as they don’t do it on their card machine.

Sushi is my granddaughter's favourite food so this was her Christmas treat as she is too old for Santa. She enjoyed the food very much, the waitress was charming, and my rice was perfectly sticky. Also the citrus tea was great. However, we had to eat with our coats on as it was too cold to remove them. That is why the score is not high. My next visit will be in Summer.

Bouyed by the reports of others expectations were high. The service was good in parts ,attentive but then not around. The setting is fine but sadly the food did not come upto expectations-not bad but not at the level the previous reviews had suggested. Surprisingly for a sushi restaurant the prices were reasonable.

Twice now we've ordered from Mr Miyagi. First time we spent over £50 for a family meal takeaway. Got home and realised they hadn't included any chopsticks or napkins, let alone the soy sauce we ordered. Sushi was cut poorly and looked slapped together. Most recently we ordered £20 worth and again they couldn't be bothered to put chopsticks in. Again the sushi looked like it had been quickly, roughly cut. Attempted to complain by their social media. No response. Genuinely would not bother again.

Slightly disappointed following our experience at dinner last night. I had been recommended to go by a friend who said it was the best sushi in canterbury, so maybe I had too high an expectation. The service was fairly slow and unattentive as they were very understaffed. To be fair, they were friendly and really trying to do their best to muddle through. The plain white walls were splattered with soy sauce and the tables sticky. The atmosphere was more of a greasy spoon cafe than a restaurant which was unfortunate. The sushi itself was nice, clean and well made but felt poor value for money. We had the sushi platter for 2 and a few extras. The sushi platter I had assumed would be a large mix of 2 of various items, however was 6 of this, 6 of that and a few pairs of things. The lack of selection made it quite boring for 37quid. The sashimi that we ordered separately was great quality and at least added to the variety. Following an 80 quid dinner, I left feeling still a bit hungry and flat. Perhaps this is best suited for a quick but different lunch or takeout. A functional eatery as opposed to a date night location.

It was one of the hottest days of the year. The thought of eating anything hot let alone at all substantial did not appeal. Sushi suggested a solution. Mr. Miyabi’s Sushi is in a great central location in the shadows of both the Marlowe Theatre and Canterbury Cathedral set in a large bright airy space in the wonderfully named Orange Street. It’s a cool minimalist aesthetic with clean lines, wooden floors and bright prints on the walls. I was the only besuited customer having come straight from court and was by far the oldest amidst young couples in sunglasses whose femmes barely wore the skimpiest of tops The menu is concise. Individual types of sushi are followed by set meals of various types, two mains. I had a sashimi set of raw bream, tuna and salmon. This was beautifully complimented by wasabi and ginger but not least soy sauce. Mango and green tea machi ice cream rounded off matters on a similarly high note.

Located in a side street behind the Marlowe Theatre. Pleasant decor, plenty of space tables are not crowded together. Visited for lunch on a Tuesday. Waitress was warm and welcoming, friendly service throughout. Large selection of sushi/sashimi dishes, but limited selection of only two hot dishes, a chicken teriyaki served with rice and a noodle dish with a choice of chicken or vegetables. Mt wife opted for the chicken teriyaki and I tasted it, It was delicious. Sushi was of good quality, my son and I shared a platter (which I felt was a little expensive at £31, and several additional rolls. All were delicious. Had to keep asking for more wasabi and pickled ginger however, which were served in very small portions. That and lack of hot food options are the only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5.

It is wonderful to see that the business has expanded from its former tiny cafe/bar style premises so that Mr Miyagi now accommodates table dining. Not knowing about the move, I happened across their new restaurant (close to the Cathedral entrance) after walking to the old premises and finding that it had closed down - this is my first time in Canterbury since before Lockdown One. I have been eating at Mr Miyagi's for some years (but only get to go their when I happen to be visiting Canterbury) and the food is, and always has been, excellent - the best I have had in the UK. And given the quality of the food, the value is astonishing compared to the prices a well-known sushi chain charges for their mediocre offerings. The menu offering is deliberately limited to sushi/sashimi/nigiri and a few teriyaki and ramen dishes, with everything hand prepared on site on the day or to order. There is no flashy conveyor belt, just a simple clean setting, with attentive service and Mr Miyagi himself on hand ready and willing to offer assistance when selecting from the menu. If you have not tried Japanese cuisine before, particularly sushi/sashimi/nigiri, this is the place to start.

I was on my way to a hearing in the county court in Chaucer Road and was in need of a swift bite. An opportunity presented itself in the shape of Mister Miyagi’s a small cafe comprising a counter in front of a kitchen with bar style seats at the window. I guess it’s primarily geared to take-away but a window seat watching the comings and goings of Northgate Street sitting by a small globe or reading complimentary tourist literature about Canterbury was a most pleasant diversion. And the food perfectly complimented this atmosphere. I chose the weekly lunch special, a bento box packed with both sushi and sashimi, slices of raw salmon bring the stand-out ingredient for me. A pot of green tea was suitably refreshing. Service was friendly efficient and delight. All in all a little jewel.

Me sentí estafado y nunca volveré allí. Solo deseaba que hubiera más lugares vendiendo sushi fresco en Canterbury. Miyagi es una vergüenza! ! ! ¡No feliz!

In searching for Sushi in Canterbury this seems to be the only place to find it. The store front is not very big - they have four stools at a bar in front of the window. Service - was very friendly however not very fast as there is only one person making the sushi and one person taking orders and money. There is a small park very close so if it's a nice day you can get your food to go and sit outside and eat your lunch/dinner.Prices - they seem to be a little more expensive from what I'm used to in the states. They might be okay for England but still more than the states. You might think since this an island seafood might be a bit cheaper. But hey when you're the only game in town you can charge what you like. Quality - The rolls need to be wrapped a bit tighter. We had trouble picking the pieces up with chop sticks and they began to fall apart before reaching our mouths. If you pick them up with your fingers and dip them you'll be fine. Condiments - They provide very very minimal packets of soy sauce, ginger and wasabi. They also provide the little white paper ketchup cups to put these items and they are barely big enough to dip a piece of sushi in and get any sauce. I had to go back up to the counter and ask for me. She graciously gave me a couple additional packets but I shouldn't have ask for more.Since it seems to be the only game in town I'll probably be back at some point.

Seeing as it should've been safe to eat and I was eating in I said it was fine. Anyways, 5 days of extreme illness and a day in hospital followed. Severe food poisoning related to bacteria from chicken. I hadn't had any other chicken all weekend. Currently writing to kokoro to explain what happened.
