Wagamama in Canterbury

This review is for takeaway not a visit to the restaurant. Ordered bang bang cauliflower (a vegetarian side dish) and discovered a prawn in it - as a vegetarian was a bit repulsed but would have been so much worse if had a food allergy. Clearly not enough care taken in the kitchen to separate food.

Food feels very over priced for what you get. The service was fantastic. Sadly toilets never seem to all be working at once which sometimes can’t be helped. This wagamama is my local and each experience I have had is constantly going up and down in quality.

Harry was the kindest and sweetest server, he was so talkative and showed a genuine interest in us and our daily activities, it truly felt like talking to a friend or that we were regulars there. He also allowed us to know things about him which added to the personal connection as our server and made us feel really comfortablem. As someone who has worked in hospitality previously, Harry shows amazing potential and definitely deserves a Lego gift card because his service was beyond incredible. Harry, we'll be back again one day and we hope to hear all about the new Lego set you're going to get! The food came quickly, and was amazing, such a variety of flavour.

Food really nice but poor service. Some members off staff fantastic however others are completely incompetent. My daughter wanted prawns added to her chicken noodles and this seemed to be a huge inconvenience and problem to a certain member off staff who told me they had no prawns, but she didn't even ask. So ended up buying a prawns skewer started and adding them to noodles myself since this seemed to be such an issue. And they rhen forgot my daughters noodles so she was waiting a good 10 15 mins after everyone else has got their food. Asked for a teaspoon to eat dessert with ad other ones we're too big. Only to be told that teaspoons are for children only? Very strange. Spent £180 and left £0 tip as it just seemed to be one problem after another. Everyone makes mistakes but some of staff attitudes are appalling

Lovely clean restaurant with a great atmosphere and tasty food. Our server Harry.D was an absolute joy, efficient, friendly and characterful with great recommendations for us and extensive knowledge of the menu. He even answered our questions on how to pronounce certain words. A real credit to the team.

on 03/02/24, me and my mum went to eat here, the lady who seated us was lovely, she gave us our menus and told us who was serving us. our waitress Antonella, came over and asked us if we had any allergies which we responded no to. she then said she was allergic to children and gave me a filthy look. (i am 18, but i get mistaken alot for a 14 year old because i am very small and young looking). both me and my mum were taken aback when we heard her say this but i shrugged it off by saying “its lucky for you that im eighteen then” with a little laugh. upon hearing this she seemed quite shocked, and looked at my mum as if she didn’t believe me to which my mum nodded her head. Our waitress then had the cheek to say to me “your voice doesnt match your body”. i was kind of shocked by this as ive worked in hospitality and would never say this too someone, people may say this was “a laugh” but i’ve never met this woman before, so therefore how does she know thats my kind of humour? i ended up giving my mum a weird look and just shrugging it off. We thought that was that and was about to order, then Antonella just came out and said “when you guys walked through the door, i thought you was a lesbian couple and was like great, but now i can see youre related.” me and my mum didnt even know what to say about this… it was quite shocking to be honest, we didnt say anything back to her rude remark because we just felt very uncomfortable. we ended up just ordering our food and eating. for the rest of out meal we felt quite uncomfortable with her serving us and her silly comments made the experience unenjoyable. looking back now, everyone we spoke to about it said we should have reported her to the manager, as everything she said was rude and it wasnt even in a joking tone, everything was said with a straight face and filthy looks. me and my mum arent very confrontational people and just wanted to eat in peace. we would go again as the food is nice, but if we had her as a waitress we wouldnt want her serving us.

Lovely experience dining alone at Wagamama. I was serviced by Harry who from the moment I was greeted was very polite, attentive and funny. The food and drinks came out very fast and was delicious as always. Thank you for making me feel welcome and will be more than happy to come back anytime.

C'est bon mais un peu simple, les bao sont fades. Le service est très bien, rapide. Mais la salle très bruyante.

I loved it! I got a chicken grilled with noodles it comes with salad and chicken. It was so tasty my taste buds where going 🤪. For my pudding I had the chocolate cake and it blew my taste buds away!

Served by Sarah, she was knowledgable and helpful when choosing food for the first time. I had firecracker curry and the partner had Katsu curry bother were excellent. Harry spoke to us while we waited and was very friendly and knowledgable. Definitely recommend and although I don’t usually have sweets tried a selection and the were amazing as-well. Will definitely return as this was my first experience and consider myself converted! If you don’t already know go and try this restaurant!

First time to Wagamama's .... what a great place. The food was amazing , it tasted so good. The service from Harry was great and Sarah was super friendly and nice. Will be back for sure very soon.

Have lunch meal whenever in canterbury.

Went here following a Carol service at the Cathedral. Was starving and thirsty. Service was prompt. Asked for zero coke and a coffee. The coffee was wonderful, moreish even. Then had the really thick noodles with chicken and prawns. So tasty. Food was hot. I added soya light. The meal was just what I needed. If you're not sure of the food or want something taken out, just ask the waiter. They are really good at their jobs....well, the ones I've come across . And will explain and guide if that's what you need. Used the toilet . It was clean.

This has to be the worst meal I have ever had. Basically a plate of onions disguised as noodles and 3 wizened, lifeless pieces of tofu. Noodles and tofu are not expensive ingredients so why skimp?? My brother had a couple of slivers of chicken and a couple of prawns that looked as if they had been frozen and nuked within an inch of their sad little lives. Both meals looked as if they had been scraped off someone else's plate. I used to love Wagamamas when they first started but this restaurant is truly awful.The young woman who served us was lovely. Do yourself a favour and keep walking.

2 stars for the staff and the environment, no stars for food. We went to there for lunch, ordered the beef hotpot, they used chicken instead and then asked me to try even after I told them that was chicken in my pot. My husband ordered chicken noodles, the noodles were warm, the chicken was super cold on top, how they can put them together in one dish? I know nowadays people just re-heat food from refrigerators in restaurants, but that was too “obvious “, and of course if the food is that style it’s not good for children too for sure. Very disappointing!

Miya was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. We were seated straight away, Miya anticipated our needs so we were able to enjoy the meal. The food came quickly and in large portions. It was tasty and right level of spicy. Definitely recommended.

Visited yesterday with my son, his wife and three boys for a birthday treat. Middle grandson has multiple allergies and I was very impressed with the care and attention they took to assuring that everything was free from the allergy ingredients. When his meal arrived, it was served with care and obviously to his satisfaction as he cleared his plate. Fantastic food for all 6 of us. 👏 well done to all.

Really impressed. First time at a Wagamama. Waitress, Carla, was so helpful talking us through the menu. Also the manager, Leonard, was super. Highly recommend.

Gyosa deep fried to a crisp and dy, duck inside was like a paste, better ones available near the bus station! Ramen completely tasteless and noodles were spaghetti not real egg noodle. Manager very helpful but sadly the food was very poor quality

Always have good fresh food here but unfortunately my steak was tough. Was approached by Leonard to check all okay and just mentioned the fact and he promptly took it away and said they would cook another. Five minutes later he came back to apologise for the wait, which I didn’t mind at all and told him so to which he replied it would be on the house. Customer service at its best. Thank you Leonard you went above and beyond.

Wagamamas is always consistently good if you like Japanese food. They have gluten free options on a reduced menu. The staff were very friendly. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that it took a little while for the water to come and it was quite noisy.

Greta food although seating is uncomfortable shame they have removed pak Choi from the wok fried greens as these are now bland and boring. Staff could be friendlier but rest of food was very good.

Ordered for collection, the service and timing were great as usual, However the food was awful this time sadly, we ordered: -Pork shirodashi ramen, which was much spicier than usual and couldnt be eaten, and was missing the bamboo shoots. -Chilli squid, which was different (soft and stodgy) to every other time we have it and we order it every time. (Usually is still quite crispy even when it’s collected) -Garlic/chilli salt Edamame beans, absolutely covered in what seemed to be garlic powder, inedible. Really disappointed because we usually love wagamamas and feel like we wasted £40 last night.

Excellent experience. Welcomed by the Manager who told us about the new menu and recommended some options. After discussing allergies we chose two of the new menu items : a chicken hot pot ( spicy , warming and totally delicious soup style meal ) and a gochachang chicken bowl. They were steaming hot and gorgeous. Thank you for such a great experience.

Expensive, but good food. Can be easy to forget how much you've spent. Food can take a while to get to your table, because this place is often busy. If you're ordering alcohol and are young (but legal!), make sure they actually check your ID and don't just switch your drink to be alcohol-free while charging the same price. They are very accommodating on customisations to your order, even if you want something that's not listed as being available. Ordering process is easy, food selection is varied, and the portions are hearty. I'm a big fan of their gyoza, yaki udon & salmon soba!

Wagamamas seemed to have found their little niche in Britain. People are quite happy sat on long tables, munching, slurping & grappling with their food. Nobody seems to bother each other either in their mini banquets. There isn't any order of service. You get what you've ordered when the Chef's have cooked it. Jolly nice food it is too. Fresh & vibrant! Excellent food, friendly staff & a vibrant, chilled atmosphere. What more could you want!!

Had a wonderful experience within the Canterbury restaurant today. Firstly we are greeted by a wonderful host called Harry, such a great positive and warm welcome. myself having anxiety issues he wanted to sit us at a table with other people but I asked if we could move into the back where I wouldn't have to sit with others, he guided us over with a warm smile and sat us where is was a bit more quiet. He told us all about the upcoming food that's going to be on the menu over the month or so, really giving us a lot of detail and really sounding to have such passion within his work. I could really give 10 stars to harry but our experience got even more great! a lovely person called Ayesha (I'm very sorry if I have spelt this wrong) but she brought over our food, asking if we needed anything else with a wonderful smile, and noticed my daughter had dropped some of the chicken on the floor by accident. undenounced to us they had gone back to the chef and asked if they could cook my daughter some more chicken and delivered it back to our table. I was honestly shocked because i have never had an experience like this, someone going out there way to help us. not knowing to them, my daughter has just come out of the hospital for a heart condition and this was the place she was looking forward to going too as a treat. my daughter was so over the moon that someone kindly did this for them. In all my times i have been to a restaurant no one has ever offered something like this. After enjoying our wonderful meal I thanked her for it, just the small acted of kindness has really shown me that there are still kind people out there. 10/10 customer service and we will defiantly be back there again.

Dining alone for the first time here today, I discovered that it's a different experience. I waited ages to be given my order. My juice tasted slightly off. Then I waited over half an hour for my food - which one of the serving staff flipped the end of a bit of bok choi back into the bowl with her fingers - and it arrived without the dipping sauce on the side. The dumplings weren't cooked properly and were mushy with raw edges. The three people next to me had their food within five minutes of ordering. Just felt like a very expensive unpleasant experience. I feel sick. Not what I would expect from a £20 lunch.

Centrally located near the canterbury cathedral. Just like any Wagamama does not disappoint.

At sight the food looked great. Flavours werent there. Huge fan of ramen but this wasnt it.. service was poor. First guy was arrogant, second guy gave us his name (probably for a tip) the lady who brought the food was friendly. Overal 3/10 will not come back.

I’d like to say a special thank you to Thomas (maybe spelt incorrectly) who helped me when ordering, due to having a nut allergy it can be hard ordering sometimes but he was sure to confirm everything that I ordered was safe. Thanks again to this amazing establishment !!!

Belebte Gaststätte mit offener sichtbarer Küche. Sehr guter Service. Malsachen für die Kinder. Essen ebenfalls sehr gut. Anpassungen des Kindermenüs möglich. Vorspeise kam zusammen mit der Hauptspeise. Das ging dann doch zu schnell zum Essen, war aber vielleicht ein Missverständnis. Gerne wieder, wenn es gut und schnell sein soll.

No real Ramen soup. It is only a usual chicken soup with just a very few vegetables. Tastes borring. Verry bad wifi 😑 You have to pay by fone. But good location and friendly staff. Food comes realy quick.

i went to Wagamamas today with my daughter and we received excellent service from our waiter Eve, she had brought joy and love into our food and made us have a laugh, highly recommend. Thank you Eve!

We went there Saturday 03rd of June for my wife's birthday. As a Muslim and only eat Halal meat, I asked if the Chicken is cooked in the same place as prawns. The waitress suggested to ask her manager who come to our table and explained that it's in the same Pan. I said don't worry as it's a busy time, I simy have a veg food. He insisted to ask the chef to do a special request and cooked the prawns Separate. They didn't know it was her birthday but this is what I call a golden service from the staff to the manager doing that extra mile just to make sure we had a great time. A big thank you to all and recommend the place to any Muslim as well as a non Muslims of course and ask for your special treatment. PS: don't exaggerate and forget that they are humans and can only do what they can. Definetely coming back.

Recently ordered a takeaway via Deliveroo. I realised immediately that the address listed was my old address. Rang both Deliveroo and my local Wagamama branch. Deliveroo told me to contact Wagamama and the Deliveroo driver. Rang Deliveroo asking that they cancel my order - time...

Great food but slightly (and only slightly) spoilt by having to pay via QR code. Hate that.

Food is great. Staff friendly, but table and seats could have been cleaned better. With all tables in uae, it's extremely noisy, but in all fairness you cannot really complain about something like that. We each ordered a main course (1x Ramen beef and 1x Jack fruit bowl) and some starters (2x gyozas and 1x fresh vegetables) to share. All delicious food. The starters were served together with 1 main course... The other main course came significantly later. It didn't ruin it, but it isn't proper.

I do really enjoy going with my wife on a date night. We usually order 1 main and a lot of different sides. You end up with lots of different tasty flavours. I have had to complain before, if there is something wrong and the way they deal with it is professional, usually places make you feel uncomfortable or dishonest if you complain about the food. They give you a choice of something else or take it off the bill which I think is really good

Wagamama's is one of my favourite places to eat when in London, so my husband and I decided to dine here after a fun filled day of browsing through the centre of Canterbury. I have my usual favourite - Chili Squid, Ebi Katsu and Yaki...

This is my second time dining in wagamama, the service is good here but the noodles is not properly cooked. Not sure if it’s the quality of the ramen or overcooked, it sticked together and unpleasant to chew or taste to be honest:( Feel sorry about other ingredients in the soup as they’re not bad..

It's always a joy eating out at Wagamamas as the food is consistently good no matter which branch you might visit. However, what made our meal that more enjoyable was our wonderful server 'Miya'. Graceful, polite, kind and so very helpful; she was a delight and very friendly too. Nothing enhances a wonderful meal out than great service... Give Miya a raise!

Love the yasai katsu , always my go to. Our waitress Miya was fantastic , brilliant customer service and a lovely woman. Will be back very soon .

Nice food- however my partner ordered plant based food and I ordered beef. They came at different times and waiters got confused with which one was and wasn’t vegan. Resulting in my partner eating beef. Not a huge problem for us but when I suggested putting markers on what’s vegan I felt like no one cared.

Came in for dinner with my partner on Sunday evening. We were taken care of immediately by Miya who was lovely and very attentive. Will definitely be back for more!

me and my friend just missed the ramen rush but a staff member harry, blonde with glasses, before he was even on shift was super helpful and so kind he was friendly and honestly made our day, when he was on shift he was on it and coming up with solutions and ways to help up, even got a tote bag, don’t usually leave reviews but harry was great

Service a little slow but food was spot on.

After a short wait outside we were seated and as I have severe intolerances I was immediately placed as a priority under the managers attention. The manager at the Canterbury branch is so friendly, openly suggests what would be suitable for me and couldn't be more helpful, as are the staff. I love going to Wagamama's, the food is super tasty and the whole family love the different dishes. I hope the main menu may be able to extend a bit eventually, with a choice of dessert for milk and wheat intolerances. Until then I'll keep enjoying the foods on offer!

Most of the food in wagamana is NOT Halal as it is marinated or cooked with soya sauce containing alcohol which forbidden to most Muslims, if you go in asking for food without soya sauce only a few items in the menu can adjusted to be cooked without soya sauce, having said that the staff will do their best to help and so will the, chefs, it is a company policy that has nothing to do with staff

Food average. You feel like you are part of a production line. Squished on a bench, nowhere for coats, food arrives randomly.

One of the waiters, Archie Edmondson, served us to the highest quality. Felt very welcomed and enjoyed the food.

I had an amazing experience here. Honestly one of the best services I have ever received. We were served by Archie and he made sure we got everything we needed and made our experience extremely enjoyable!

Came back this afternoon after a few weeks absent, everything were back to its usual high standard. The noodle in particularly were great and the broth was so well prepare. It's once again back to the top of my restaurants list

The food is amazing! I’m not hugely adventurous when it comes to food and on my first visit I wasn’t sure I would like any of it. How wrong I was! This is now one of my favourite places to eat. I’m not keen on the restaurant itself as it’s a little bit ‘80s school canteen’ but the food definitely makes up for the strange seating plan.

It was my first experience in Wagamama, and for sure I will coming back; very original natural juices and good quality in all. The service was amazing, quick and effective.
