The best restaurants in Westbourne Brighton and Hove South East

I am so fed up with the chains and 'high-end' places for coffee and some food - particularly when their meagre vegan offerings are expensive and disappointing. So I was delighted to find The Tea Leaf today! I was freezing cold and starving and looked at the menu in the window - plenty of vegan options.. Yay! Nice and quirky inside - cushions, cosy and welcoming.. Couldn't decide between the stuffed peppers, minestrone soup, baked potato or a toasted sandwich. Eventually went for the latter-- lovely garlicky hummus, avocado at its best and veg... all served in toasted sourdough. And a lovely cup of tea with oat milk. Nosey me found that this place has only been taken over 2 months ago and, honestly, their vegan options were the best along the road (I looked at every cafe). If you want a warm welcome, quirky and a change from the same-old, same-old - theTea Leaf is for you.

Fantastic food, beautiful presentation, fabulous wait staff and wonderful ambience. Liked it so much that came back for breakfast!

Superb coffee and food, always a smiling welcome and a nice chilled atmosphere. And, if you come by bike, there's storage in a room at the back so you don't have to worry about your bike getting stolen 👍 The music is also great and there's a suntrap of a decked garden out the back

The food in the restaurant is good. The chef clearly has talent and the service on the night we dined here was very professional - better than some restaurants in Brighton/Hove. We had a Groupon and the value with this offer was very good. You can't get away from the fact that this restaurant is in a hotel though and I feel the management could improve the experience if they want non residence to eat here. Firstly put table cloths on the table. Have some background music. Dim the lighting and cover over the fire door -just a net or curtain. The atmosphere in the restaurant does not make for a special occasion due to lack of the above. The food in taste and presentation is great. There is parking on site if you're lucky enough to get a space - but you can park opposite on the seafront. We drank in the bar first and if I went again I'd drink elsewhere first - purely because it is so obviously a hotel bar. Maybe background music; comfortable chairs; dimmer lighting - it just needs atmosphere as the staff were faultless

Had 2 4 1 blueberry smoked wings, was super lush! Jon the manager was great and knowledgeable for recommendations and providing wonderful atmosphere

Reuben who works on Sundays is a delightful server. Vibes are great here, nice coffee, delicious food - 10/10!

Recently visited with a large group of people. Although our party was unannounced, the team looked after our every need. Absolutely fantastic service and very kind staff.

Had a Sunday roast lunch with all the trimmings. Best one we had for years. The beef was good and the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were really tasty. Will definitely eat there again.

Pricey for food and drinks but a good place to grab a coffee or beer from the shacks and sit by the beach

The food arrived 1hr and 30mins early, I asked the driver to return the food and cancel my order, the shop called to say the food would be cooked from fresh and sent at the correct time, it arrived 15mins early again. The curry was cold to luke warm and the rice was cold, the naan bread was soggy as if it had been warmed in the microwave. We order from there regularly until tonight, we had dreadful food and was lied to.
