The food was absolutely delicious. I and my friends had the fish of the day; sea bass and fish and chips. The fish was perfectly seasoned and so fresh and the fries was made to perfection and we were absolutely thrilled and blown away by the service of Oliver. He was very kind and always checking to see if were satisfied with the service and made us very comfortable.

We came here on whim whilst visiting family on my birthday. All of the staff were attentive, warm and welcoming, but Daniel did a fab job of looking after us on the roof terrace.

Very bad environment, especially when they turned into a nightclub, which is foul, messy and unpleasant and very very noisy after midnight.

Lovely place to chill out & relax on Hove Beach.

Had Breakfast on first floor balcony overlooking the sea. Beautiful. The service was very prompt. Though the BF menu is only English and very limited.

Rockwater Hove is my favourite place for food and drinks. It is the perfect location.On the roof terrace, overlooking the sea whether it’s rain or sunshine there is no better backdrop than the ocean. We experienced excellent service enjoying vegetarian small plates for lunch yesterday that tasted so fresh, healthy and original and were paired with fabulous fine wines. Most importantly they are very dog friendly and a water bowl and dog treats are always served to your dog on arrival. A special thank you to the manager Patryk and the staff yesterday for making a family occasion very special. If you do only one thing in Brighton dine here!

Such a beautiful meal at Rockwater to celebrate a birthday. Our host Olivia was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. And the food and drinks were out of this world!!! Worth every penny.

Food was delicious! Service ok, we waited a lot in between for drinks ect. The wait staff are not very attentive but very friendly when getting you seated and paying for the bill. Atmosphere could have been a lot better a bit of music in the background could go along way. This is all for the top floor.

Had a great afternoon out on the terrace in the sunshine. Brando in charge of the drinks shack was really friendly and helpful. In fact we cancelled our lunch booking in another restaurant to stay here for longer!!

We had a great experience at the Rock Water with amazing staff from start to end. Reception is fantastic and the team member that served us, Mr. John, was exceptionally friendly, very polite and helpful, he even talked in Spanish with us! What a great experience! Highly recommended!!

Staff is the standout element of the place. Food is lovely and vibe is amazing, but the staff was incredibly kind and attentive - absolutely recommend. Will be back! As a born and bred Brightonian, I’ve seen my fair share of spots come and go along the Hove seafront. When Rockwater first opened, I was quick to give it a try. Back then, the food didn’t quite hit the spot for me but honestly, that hasn’t put me off from planning to retry the cuisine. What Rockwater nails, though, is the vibe. It’s the kind of place Hove has been crying out for – a cool, laid-back focal point where you can soak in the seaside atmosphere. Whether you’re grabbing a drink with mates or just taking in the view, the ambiance is decent. The décor is modern and slick, and there’s a real buzz about the place. It’s fantastic to have a venue like this on our doorstep, something that brings a bit of life and style to the seafront. So, while the initial food experience wasn’t stellar, I’m hopeful they’ve upped their game since. Given how much I enjoy the overall vibe, it’s definitely worth another shot. Rockwater is a welcome addition to Hove, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s evolved. Here’s to giving the menu another go and hoping it matches the great atmosphere they’ve created.

Update July 2024 - we popped in for drinks with friends, atmosphere was good service a little slow initially but professional and courteous. Things have definitely improved since we last went 12+ months ago. Disappointing. Great location and lovely decor. Unfortunately despite loads of staff milling around at the bar, it took 20 minutes before anyone asked us for our drinks order, and 40 minutes to get a drink. One drink came out first followed a long wait for the other one. No offer of water whilst waiting. Staff rude when asked about the delay to our order. Prepared to try again and hopefully this was out of the ordinary.

Doesn’t take cash indoors but lovely food, service slow due to it being very busy.

“We have a no balloon policy” is what I was told on arrival, sticky table, cold coffee, cold pizza, leather chewy steak. Awful, would never go again.

Went for food and drinks! Bit on the pricey side for the amount of food that you get for what you pay for and a bit limited if not a sea food eater, however the food itself was delicious! We were looked after exceptionally by Daniel, who really made our visit special and I can not thank him enough for all that he did for us. Would go back purely for the amazing service provided by Daniel! 11/10

Oak-Harris delivered a fantastic service

I had Rockwater recommended to me but was slightly put off by seeing the pretty mixed reviews. Having now had breakfast on the Rooftop Terrace, I wanted to add another positive review. We were actually first arrivals of the day, so it was very quiet - but not soulless. There was good music playing and a low-level busy murmur from the kitchen / bar area. We were greeted by a very friendly chap, and the good service continued from there throughout the morning. Coffee excellent. The avocado smash with poached eggs was excellent. Nice bread, perfect poached eggs, good avocado and houmous. Presentation was nice, too. To be honest, the Bircher muesli was more like porridge that had been cooked and then allowed to cool. A block of stodge with some toppings. Somehow it wasn't actually unpleasant, but I don't think I can give 5 stars for food on that basis. Probably wouldn't order again. Nice experience, anyway. We popped back for a coffee later in the day and the butter board as a light snack, which hit the spot.

We had breakfast here on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning.. the setting is stunning and the food was delicious. All family members were very happy indeed.

I recently had lunch at Rockwater and, overall, had a very pleasant experience. We chose to sit on the top floor of the restaurant due to the stunning sea view, which really added a special touch to our lunch. The food was spectacular! Every dish we tried was recommended by our waitress, Victoria, who attended to us throughout the meal. Her recommendations were perfect. I particularly recommend the pork dish, which was a highlight of the meal. It was clear the ingredients were fresh and of high quality, and the combination of flavours was simply divine. In addition to the incredible food, Victoria was extremely friendly and attentive. She was always available to answer our questions and ensure we had everything we needed, all with a genuine smile on her face. However, the experience began somewhat unpleasantly. The receptionist who greeted us was not friendly at all and pulled faces at every customer who arrived. This created a negative first impression, which was fortunately overcome by the excellent food and Victoria's service. Despite this negative point, I recommend Rockwater for the quality of the food, the wonderful view, and the excellent service from the waitstaff. I will certainly return for more incredible dining experiences.

Average AND below average food, ridiculously small portions and waaaaay too expesive for the level of food they serve. Mediocre restaurant that thinks it is a high end eatery. Had a not good oyster and one of the prawns I had was complete mush. When the waiter asked me if everything was alright, I told her about the bad oyster and the nstay prawn and the only really I got was a smile and she immediately left the table. No sorry, no nothing! Also, and this is even worst, the staff is constantly trying to aggressively sell you more food and drinks.

Stooped here on an impulse while walking along the seafront, great atmosphere, great views and the coffee was very good too. Didn't have food but the menu looked great. Will be returning to try breakfast another time. Great location, I could stare at the sea forever from their amazing balcony. Forgot to take, was living in the moment on this one, next time Googlers, next time... 😊

We walked 40 minutes from Brighton. When we turned up the hostess looked down on us, she didn’t show us to a table just pointed to a sofa in the corner. We asked to sit down and then she said it was actually reserved. A little annoyed we sat by the bar. She left us there just looking at us and didn’t even bring us food menus… we left and went to Persia Hove a MUCH classier spot without screaming children!

Just found this place a couple of days ago and since then I’ve been going every day! You can watch the sunset on a rooftop with a beach view next to it! The staffs are super friendly and the food was amazing! Try their hot chocolates☕️🩷

I was super fortunate to have a warm sunny afternoon on the terrace. The monkfish and the tiger prawn dishes were great. Excellent wine selection. Outstanding views. Really the only nice place near the beach for a mile.

The cocktails we had were delicious but very limited choice. Very nice bar area. The place is beginning to look tired and at the prices being charged this should not be allowed to happen. The water carafe we were given was water marked which made it look dirty. The staff were very friendly. Good loos! I can't comment on the food as we only had cocktails and nibbles (lmonds & olives).

A lovely lunch, great salad and pizza, service a little slower than I would usually expect, but staff were very friendly. Plus points for being very dog friendly.

We were initially apprehensive about booking here due to a local's warning about slow service and frequent food shortages. However, our experience was completely different. We dined at 5:30 PM with our two kids and encountered none of these issues. The menu was limited, which we appreciated, and the food quality was excellent in both flavor and presentation. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the views were truly spectacular. We would happily return and recommend this place to anyone who enjoys stunning views alongside quality food and attentive service.

The perfect place to go for dinner & drinks. The service was excellent, cocktails perfect and food delicious. The staff all went out of their way to ensure we had a good time - would highly recommend. Definitely the best place in Brighton for sunset drinks on the seafront!

What a great little find, always busy and a great atmosphere

Waiting 30 mins to get a coffee, then one of the 4 coffees ordered did not come waiting another 30 mins for it then when arrived it was hot milk asked for another and was cold. Service is shocking.

Today, I had the pleasure of brunching at Rockwater and it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere and setting were perfect, providing a funky and inviting vibe - felt like I was in Ibiza.. The coffee was some of the best I've had in Brighton, shout out to whoever made my chai latte. A special mention goes to our waitress, Kennedy, who was outstanding. She provided excellent service with a friendly demeanor and ensured the experience was top-notch. Highly recommend Rockwater for anyone looking for a great brunch spot in Brighton!

I loved it here. I just finished the London to Brighton ride and the staff kindly let me enter in all my cycling gear (my wife left my clothes in the car). Great view over the sea on a clear day. Food was great as was lager, coffee and the service from the staff. We were upstairs and I understand there is a reduced menu but it didn't disappoint!

Delicious fish dishes and a lovely atmosphere in a great location right by the beach. It's a bit confusing to know which restaurant you are booking- the menu upstairs is different from downstairs - but the staff were very helpful in sorting this out for us. The service was mixed - the staff were all very polite and cheery but they lacked attention to detail e.g. slow drinks service, offered dessert menu but never brought it. We went back a second time because we loved the location by the beach, could walk from our hotel and the food was delicious, but the service was similar the second time.

Good food, after second visit will still say great food and atmosphere better. Expensive and not really good enough for the cost.

Lovely place lovely food but they lost a star for the ‘computer says no’ approach to their menu. They serve egg on toast but no vegan option.. they do however offer a full vegan breakfast that comes with vegan eggs. So I just asked for vegan egg on toast with tomato - but they *had* to charge me the full price for the full vegan breakfast that comes with so much more - sausages, tofu, mushrooms etc, even though I just had the egg and (one) tomato. It’s not really the money that bothers me.. I’m just baffled as to why a restaurant can’t be a little flexible with its menu, to accommodate such a simple request? Maybe they don’t like vegans!

been coming here for many years - though always to grab a drink or two while sitting outside. fantastic location and love the renovation. came for a drink and sat inside for the first time last night as too chilly outside. drinks were great but service truly hopeless, waiter wandering around vacantly, completely disengaged, took 15 minutes not to deliver a drink, when prompted couldn't even remember what we ordered then when we left came with a bill adding drinks for the table next to us!

This is a great venue on the seafront in Hove. There are three floors of seating and outside space, so suitable for all year-round visits. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy with various seating arrangements. The service is attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The food was well presented and tasted great. There are different menus and price points depending on which level you're sitting at in Rockwater. The top floor has a roof terrace and a more formal dining room but not too formal. It is great and has a menu that is locally sourced and, in many cases, meant for sharing. The price point rises here and expect to spend £50 person, excluding drinks. The best thing though is, the venue is dog friendly, and we were able to sit inside and enjoy our lunch in the terrace restaurant and later dinner downstairs with the dog. Perfect. Rockeater also holds, puts on a range of activities for children to adults. These range from painting classes - Sip and Paint - to more seasonally themed events. If you're in Brighton and walking on the seafront, then make the effort to go to Rockeater- you won't be disappointed.

£15.50 for a single gin and tonic! Ridiculous. Great place for a drink on the seafront but sadly this is no longer our local restaurant that it was orginally built for. Overpriced!

A first visit and not the last. We had a 4 generation birthday celebration lunch. Great grandmother (and me) along with grandmother, mother to Oscar and, of course Oscar (just a few weeks into this world). The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful especially Noelia who is such a pleasant and amusing member of staff who we look forward to meeting again. The food was lovely along with a good selection of wine and other drinks. The location is also pretty special - lunch with a sea view is not to be scoffed at. Don't pop down here expecting a cheap burger, the quality of the food and surroundings come at a price but that is to be expected. It was a birthday celebration and they came up with an impromptu brownie with a candle along with a Happy Birthday message elegantly written in chocolate script.

A friend and I wanted to eat delicious food with a beautiful view of the sea and we got that! We ended up having two breakfasts half because it was a little small and half because it was so tasty. I had the bacon brioche x 2 :) and a turmeric latte with coconut milk… it was perfect!! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. A very pleasurable experience :)

Really lovely space with kind staff. However food is overpriced for what it is. I had risotto and it was undercooked and just meh. Nice atmosphere and view though. Also avoid the sourdough £4 for 4 bits of stale bake in the oven bread. Not very impressed with the quality of food…

Food and drinks were excellent, with a fantastic sea view from the balcony. The place was very clean, and the staff was friendly.

This is all about the location, right on Hove seafront, fabulous outside seating onto the beach and a garden at the rear for kids to play on. Unfortunately it’s definitely a ‘style over substance ‘ venue as the coffee is awful especially if you queue for ages at the outside huts the tea and all other drinks are expensive and the food serves small portions and is very mediocre and thy put a service charge on everything, even a cup of tea!

Beautiful place with sea views, super comfortable armchairs. Quick cordial attention and everything very delicious. It has space to sit outside and a terrace. Very nice decoration!!!

Nice food and the view is amazing

We really liked the food, service and the place. The food was good, fresh and delicious. You will not leave the restaurant hungry. Joe was our waiter and did a really good job. The restaurant has different menus on the different floors and the top floor has a bit lighter luxury food and the ground floor more basics where everyone can find something to eat. We had pizza, fish and chips, some pasta and different starters. The pizza might not be the best thing to choose on the menu, but everything else was delicious. It's directly on the beach and invites you to take a nice walk afterwards.

I had the poached pear pancakes and they were such a let down. Four small flimsy pancakes that tasted like those premade ones you get from the supermarket, with one strawberry cut into quarters, four blueberries and four segments of pear (maybe a third a pear) which was still hard so not fully poached. The service was slow, they would just never come over and they didn't know if a dish they brought out which had been asked to be gluten free was gluten free so they took it out back and then just didn't come back for ages and instead the waitress just had a chat with her colleagues instead of explaining if they were bringing a new one or what.

Got breakfast on the roof terrace with work colleagues. Lovely views and decor and the sweet pancakes were lovely. Our server, Mariam, was very friendly and efficient, managing a group of 8 or so wonderfully and attentively. We look forward to coming back

The pro's: Great sea views, relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly, warm welcome and good (not great) food. The con's: Very slow service with food for just the two of us arriving at different times, food wasn't hot and wine was very expensive. The location is great so we might return for a coffee but we'll head in the opposite direction for better value drinks and food.

Took over 35 minutes from ordering our coffee to get served. With the food arriving at the same time. The quality of the food also didn’t live up to the price paid. Thankfully we were sat on the terrace enjoying the sun. Otherwise would have been a lot more upset.
