The best restaurants in Ulverston North South Lakeland North West

We visited originally in the Covid period and had a lovely breakfast sitting outside. We decided to go again when we revisited and the food was fabulous. My wife and I both had the seafood chowder special and we finished with a lime crème brûlée to share. The food was simple and really tasty, the team looking after us were lovely friendly people too. Definitely worth a visit.

The food here is outstanding, hands down the most delicious and tastiest food I've ever had. The food is presented extremely well and cannot be faulted. The chef and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wines being served. The only reason I've not given 5 stars is because another small group were being very loud and expressing some very derogatory views and the staff wouldn't say anything to them. Other than that I would highly recommend.

Stopped here for lunch and I had the hunters chicken ciabatta with sweet potato fries. It was very nice indeed. My only complaint was that I got a bone in the chicken which I was going to point out but no-one came to us to ask how our meal was or to take our dishes away, the staff were upstairs as it was closing time and they were clearing up (I assume). When we went to pay for it the girl didn't ask if everthing was ok or how our meal was so I didn't bother saying anything. It didn't stop me from enjoying my meal or my time spent here.

Great pub, really good selection of ales, friendly staff and customers. Well worth a visit.

Was there yesterday for the Dickensian Festival. Pub was very busy. First time I had seen Robinson Old Tom on pump. Only sold in halves but at 8.6% abv probably wise. Works out about £8.40 a pint. The staff were busy, but friendly and efficient. Will save my pennies and visit again. Perhaps on a quieter day.

Nice chips but the large portion wasn't large today!

Booked a table for 12 of us, a few different meals, all served piping hot. Steak pies superb, Cajun chicken cream and rice excellent. Great staff and service. Would recommend.

Always lovely to visit the Orangery. Food and drink always great. Staff very friendly. Love to purchase a few items in their shop.

UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF My partner and I were in your establishment enjoying some drinks on Friday when a member of your staff took a photograph of us without our knowledge or consent and sent it to my partners ex-girlfriend. We found this extremely disturbing and concerning that anyone would take pictures of customers without their knowing and especially to send them on to someone else putting myself and my partner at risk of verbal and physical harm. Which we have since suffered through a result of their actions.

Went here because the number 1 Chinese restaurant in ulverston ( Rainbow) was closed , we’re here for a weeks holiday from Scotland the atmosphere was fine while we waited the take away driver was a really nice man as was the young lad behind the counter, we ordered the set meal for 2, asked if we could change the beef curry for a chicken curry, no problem, spare ribs amazing, we ordered vegetable spring rolls extra , filled with more onions than any other veg, the curry was one of the worst we’ve ever tried , bland , watery , tasteless, the sweet and sour chicken was just about ok, got loads of chicken with it , got 2 tubs of fried rice , it was nice , so I’m saying your getting loads of bland tasteless food , your full , but tasteless, should have took it back, but we were a bit out the road . Total waste of £27.50 , should have went to the chippy along the road , oh and it’s cash only they accept, please again don’t go here , should have listened to the reviews, but you think there just complaining for little things, but they were totally right . Lovely friendly staff, felt very welcome and appreciated. Not a long wait at all, and my order was perfect and tasty.
