Food . The worst takeaway I have had for a very long time. If u want fast food . Find someshere else.

3 year since i have been in the conti, and now i know why, got a conti mixed kibab , must be the worst food i have had for ages, donna meat was like strips of rubber, chop had a bad smell , chicken not good, , meat like rubber. chips smelled like oil needs changing , all gone in the bin, £14.60 would rather give to the homeless, if i ever eat here again it will be to soon, (((((Flames, chippy bank 100%))))), without swearing. it was crap.. i am expecting to be ill...

Best chicken kebabs in town We always love the food at the Conti and woukd highly recommend it to anybody

We’ve just had one of the nicest meals we have ever had from the Lakeland continental. The chicken was unbelievable, cooked to perfection, the donner meat melted in your mouth. I challenge anyone to find a better donner meat than here. The chips were perfectly cooked as well. The service was top notch, the lady on the phone was so polite and took our order so efficiently, we didn’t have to repeat a word. We never leave reviews or comments on the take always we get, but myself and my partner both had clean plates and we are so impressed with the food we had tonight. Bravo to the Conti!!

Stopped on the off-chance there were gluten-free options on the menu. There weren't although the staff agreed to let me have the shish kebab with chips instead of wheat flour pitta bread and pay £1 extra. My husband had a Cumberland sausage ring and chips which he enjoyed very much. My inlaws always use this chippy un Ulverston.

Nic always makes sure that the food is fresh. There is sometimes a wait whilst the team cook to order, but that wait is well worth it.

They are very friendly and lovely, and a best serving, if you are Hungry best thing to do go to there ❤️❤️respect to them

Phone ordered for delivery, paid via texted link, food arrived fast, hot and delicious. Great price too. 2 kebabs with everything a garlic bread and delivery £19.

I used to go here and remember it being good. Staff are nice to chat to and it looks clean But I’d say don’t waste your time and going to join the queue at the chippy round the corner is your best bet for edible food The chips were under cooked and slimy. Sluggish frankly. The pizza had a very odd selection of toppings which all tasted horrible together. So bad we couldn’t finish it. I felt sorry for my bin when I put the remains of the pizza in it. Free garlic bread good tho !!! But saying the only part of the meal we enjoyed was free says it all

Raw chicken nuggets, half my chips were rotten, took forever and it wasn't even busy. Simply awful

Pancake roll was just soggy mush and tasted like it had been there for weeks.

Use this place quite often, the fish and chips here are first class, Staff are friendly and attentive. Curry and chips with a buttered barm at lunch time an absolute must. Very reasonable prices too.

Visited here last night for some chips and burgers. We received excellent service and we had plenty of food. Very good value for money. The portion sizes were very generous and we got a free garlic bread. We would definitely visit again.

These are the worst fish and chips I have ever had. They were cold, the chips were hard and inedible, the batter was cooked on the outside and totally raw on the inside with thick gloopy flour stuck all over the fish. Absolutely disgraceful.

After calling and ordering my meal, waited an hour for. Then recieved a call back the delivery person had took it back. I had no phone calls that the delivery person said they made and only the one call when they took it back. When I spoke to the guy he started swearing at me and when I said I can collect or if they could send it out he said it would be cold. I have ordered here for a long time and always big orders but after the way I was spoke to I can certainly say me and the family will not be ordering from here again

Ordered chips fish and steak pudding , drove 2 minutes home placed pudding onto a plate sounded like a rock had hit the plate ,rang up to complain spoke to the manager he said he cooked it himself ( microwaves) and was not having that then hung up on me , rang back spoke to one of the staff who said it's him again and manager shouted to him to hang up, so I got the pudding when back to the shop and showed him the pudding ,said yeah there was nothing wrong with it then tried to say that they go hard after a time ( not after 2 minutes drive) eventually got a refund £2 then the manager said to me with a smiling face don't come back your barred , customer service is none existent in this chippy. This used to be a good chippy but will not be going back even tho I'm barred haha.

Bought fish and chips here and was very pleased with the service and the food. Had to wait for the fish to be freshly cooked however it was worth the wait. Nice light batter.

Used to order a lot from here but doubt that I will be anymore after we all got bad stomachs and food poisoning from the food

This is a good place if you fancy some take away food. Reasonable prices and a good range of food; everything from Pizza and Burgers to Fish and Chips. The staff here are very friendly and the service is usually quick.

Fish, chips and peas always lovely. Fish lightly battered and freshly cooked with plenty of Fish there. Staff pleasant as always. Very consistent here. I've given 5 stars, because they are always so friendly and welcoming. Fish was a little over cooked, chips lovely peas not so much. I find Andys food on Walney better, but some of the staff aren't so friendly and to me this makes all the difference, I recommend Ulverston Continental.

We nipped for chips on the way home. Ordered 2 chip barns and the young girl took two dry barm cakes out of a bag. We asked for butter on them at which point the arrogant man who was cooking told her to use the ones in the tub on the counter. (Why not just use them in the first place or just butter the ones out of the bag?) he then demands that we pay for the dry ones and when questioned is completely vile towards us. Drama for nothing, shocking service from him and greasy chips.

Ordered a delivery tonight. When it got here was missing chips and garlic mayo was supposed to be separate but it wasn't. Phoned back and they apologised. Finally got chips 20 minutes later but by that time the rest of the food was cold and hubby's steak and kidney pie was rock hard. Won't bother ordering from them again. 👎

Fantastic Service, and food is awesome

Always thrilled with my takeaways from here. The prices are great, delivery is prompt and food is divine. The pizzas are so flavoursome, probably my favourite takeaway pizza in Cumbria and leftovers heat up really well without going tough or dry. The cheesy garlic bread is delightfully cheesy and the fish and chips are delectable too. Also, you can pay by mobile, which has been a lifesaver over lockdown. Thoroughly recommended.

No thanks to your delivery driver I didn't even place an order and I'm giving one star. Clearly stated the wrong address but yet woke my house up knocking like the police. Absolute joke. Will not be ordering from here any time soon! The spoken address orders weekly so how in the hell can your drivers get the wrong street I don't know!

Rang up yesterday and placed an order for delivery. The food came and was missing the garlic cheese. When i rang to question why, i could hear the man in the background saying "tell them we will send them one up when we are ready" this never transpired! I could not believe the guy casually said when we are ready, this food was for our son who ended up not getting his weekly treat and had to settle for what was in the cuboards. They already got our money so they weren't interested in sorting it out! Absolute tosser! The fish recently is also more batter than fish, really pathetic portions, we wont be back!

Have to say how disappointed we were with both the service and quality of this place. After ordering at around 8:00 and being told it would be an hour out food didn’t arrive until nearly two hours later. When it did arrive no sort of discount was offered and we still had to pay the £5 delivery charge. Food was cold and the cheese on the pizzas was rubbery. Chicken kebab was over cooked.

Walked in to a really nice shop with nice staff, left disappointed and annoyed. I ordered a hot n pickin chicken burger and chips after listening to the staff talk together and do little to no work for what seemed like too long and watching my friends pizza and burger given to her I was getting more and more agitated at the staff, they finally assembled my burger and put it in a box, which they dropped on the floor. It wasn't so bad because it was in a box and wrapped up but what was bad was the staff laughing at the matter. And when they finally handed me my food I got a giggling sorry about that the burger tore apart and was mediocre but the chips were good but the arrogance of the staff was really inappropriate for a work place making remarks about a woman walking by in a sparkle dress and talking about how wasted they were going to get after their shift. Extremely disappointed

Claims to be a takeaway that delivers. However refuses to deliver when "busy". Clearly never heard of the trade descriptions act of 1968.

Although advancing years and an advanced gut mean I don't indulge as often as I once did. This place still has me hooked. All good from owners who care.

The food wasn't anything special, just standard fish and chips. The chips were a bit stoggy and the fish was ok but I probably wouldn't go back there.

Brilliant food, fantastic staff

The bugers they serve here are great! Normally have to wait a little while but definitely worth the time. The owner ( middle aged man ) is also great , very friendly and well mannered. Definitely deserves some respect! :)

Pretty much the fakest, wettest, stodgiest pizza with fake tomato ketchup style base that I've ever had. Chips were ok but that was it basically. Ordered a smokey hot pizza, fake processed chicken cubes with sliced hot dog. And a mountain of cheese and ketchup squirted over the top. Probably worth avoiding. Sorry....

Very disappointed, the service was quick and lovely, the chippy side spot on, but we ordered a pizza, it was raw, undercooked and just a doughy sloppy mess. It would of been easier for me to just cook one out my freezer. Had to bin it.

Had to go to the Conti because Flames was shut, I was reminded why I don’t go. From ordering I was stood in the shop for at least 40, waiting for a pizza and burger. The pizza was awful, the whole thing was undercooked and the base was still doughy. Burger wasn’t fantastic and chicken nuggets were vile. Wouldn’t recommend

We had a carry out, the chicken wings were fabulous and the chips were, second to non, the food arrived freshly cooked hot and smelt amazing, there was quite a lot of people ordering proving this to be very popular

Staff were served drinks from a pub! while I waited 30mins for my order that wansnt sorted!! Never going back, infact I met others in flames that suffered the same poor service!!

This used to be our go to chip shop. However I have found ham in my food. As they don't use gloves or a little pot when handling cheese and they also make pizzas using the cheese without gloved therefore cross contamination, also was served by a girl with infected hand piercing who handled food with no gloves. Can be really nice when it's not too busy and chips aren't rushed. Owner is lovely too so it's hard to write a not great review. Some staff can be rude.

Ordered from here on Saturday evening. The chips were anaemic and still hard in the middle. The pizza were poor with hardly any toppings. Very dissappointed.

Fish and chips to die for! This takeaway is situated and easily found on one of the main shopping streets, and their fish in particular is unbeatable in the Ulverston area. Well worth a visit.

After a 40 minute wait for our order to be ready, food was inedible and had to go in the bin! After calling to speak to the owner who was an arrogant, rude, aggressive and down right unprofessional little Greek man we will not be ordering from him again!

If ever you need a really good takeaway then this place is very good. I go here every few weeks and it constantly cooks very good traditional chippy meals. It also does very good pizzas, kebabs etc.

Yo won't be disappointed shopping here. Food freshly cooked, fish and chips, pizza, burgers and kebabs on offer.

Under cooked chips and bad kebabs, is it too much to ask for tasty food these days. The staff are lovely though and the place is clean. Why does no one offer a freshly made burger in this town!

Ordered 'The BBQ', literally was just an onion pizza. Couldn't taste anything else and their was barely any sauce. Rang up to complain, was passed to the horrible, jumped up owner (who needs to learn the basics of customer service) won't order from there again, awful.

I live in London and was back visiting friends, a few beers and feeling peckish, grabbed some food for on the way home. The choice was a burnt Cumberland sausage, or a tray of reheated chips. Thought I'd try fresh with a doner and salad. The doner was like no other! Unsure what it actually was, as texture, taste was unusual. The chilli sauce was also odd. Never again!

Burger was soaked in relish, wasn't edible. Got a free replacement with not enough relish. Lovely burger though

Good chippy the hot curry is gorgeous and the pizzas are brilliant .....I visit on a weekly basis and often get the dinner time special that is brilliant value for money

Well, I'm glad I used the Conti based on other recommendations and not on the latest two reviews on TA!We had three meals which were all well cooked, well proportioned and tasty. The staff were friendly, especially the proprietor and the place was clean and tidy. I ask for little more from any chippy I choose to use.

How can a chippy run out of chips got offered a jumbo sausage but no thanks pal absolutely awful avoid at all costs

Well I have no idea who wrote the glowing review above, but the claim that this is 'the best pizza I have ever eaten' is either a depressing admition of a poorly lived culinary life or a straight up biased review written by the proprietor. I'll leave you to decide. What is in not doubt at all is the quality of the food. I have eaten here on a number of occasions, and speaking as a local to the area, this is poor food. The 'American' responsible for the deceptive review perhaps needs a trip to Italy. Or maybe just Dominoes. Even they surpass this tripe.

The fish and chips here are always beautifully cooked and the portions generous. I have been to some of these nationally rated chip shops and have not found them any better despite these others being noticeably dearer. The steak puddings are also very good. They do offer other things too

Highly recommended. The pizzas are made freshly on order (watch them being made), lovely fish, beautiful burgers, special promotions Mon-Wed (buy one pizza, burger or kebab and get a 2nd half price), lunchtime specials for schoolchildren, free garlic bread if spending over £12, friendly staff... I could go on!

Always good and the buy one get the second half price promotion on Monday and Tuesday is great if a few of you want a meal. Nice chips too

Last summer (July 2013), we spent the week in Ulverston and tried out Lakeland Continental. It's very difficult to contain my enthusiasm whilst writing about this place because, having lived many years in America, there is no pizza (that I know of!) that even comes close to being as excellent as the ones at Lakeland Continental. We were there a week, and we ate Lakeland Continental pizza at least 5 times. The quality was consistent and amazing. Although I missed home and was happy to return, one of the saddest things for me was realising there would be no more delicious Lakeland Continental pizza. It is the best I have ever found in the world - no exaggeration. Perfect crust, perfect ingredients and in perfect amounts. If you're ever in Ulverston, do yourself a huge favour and treat yourself to what I consider the world's BEST pizza.

Superb takeaway, fish and chips were perfect, the pizzas are delicious. Highly recommended.
