Drinks selection a let down…. Fantastic food, massively let down by drinks selection. Appreciate support of local Brewery Bowness Bay but their beers not up to standard. Lacking flavour and taste on both varieties. We asked for Estrella which I remember they used to have but now removed. Why?

Went for a little weekend away to the Langdale lodge , wow the staff were brilliant . Went to the stove for breakfast for both days , a lady called Rebecca today was amazing . As I have a 10 months old , she welcomed us in and was great with my baby very kind and welcoming . The chief was also brilliant! Thankyou for your kindness today.we will be back! X

Never had a bad meal. Staff are always very attentive and friendly. Service is quick. Food is tasty and a bit different from standard pub grub, so it's a nice change.

The food was excellent, But a let down on service, There were six of us and every course someone's meal didn't turn up 5 minutes after everyone else had there's , my sweet never turned up until I asked twice if it was going to turn up at all. Don't think it was the waitress's fault it seems some of the food never got to the pass together, the chef manning the pass must take the blame !! Come on stove sort it out as the food was great.

Our waitress was very nice…but poorly trained. No discernible front of house; constantly had to ask for things and not really acceptable for such a place. Food was average at best.

Seven covers, 1 starter, 2 pizzas undercooked. Two smashed burgers poor quality. 1 fillet steak vegetables cold roosti was hash brown. Side forgotten, had to ask for cutlery twice. Two meals were good.

Been here dozens of times and I've noticed a decline in the menu. Our latest visit saw the worst yet, extremely limited which was basically either a pizza or a burger. I opted for a chicken burger which was just a breadcrumbed piece in a bun. Very hard and so dry, The pizzas are notoriously bland and dry so was very limited for choice. Never seen such a short menu with hardly any choice in a restaurant. It's overpriced and rather disappointing considering the beautiful surroundings and pleasant decor. Overall disappointing and a real rethink on the menu is desperately needed. On a plus note the breakfast is fabulous. Staff were lovely and very pleasant as always.

Food excellent sadly service let it down. We had all finished our main meals however our server had disappeared, we sat waiting for over 30mins watching other servers clearing the tables around us and setting them for breakfast, it was only when I gave a long stare at one of the servers did he come over to ask if we had finished and if we wanted dessert, we made it clear we did not as we had waited too long!! Only one other table had customers. Not really a good start for our first visit

The food was nice. My husband had the roast chicken and I had the garlic mushroom pizza which were both really nice. A bit shocked though they charged us £3 extra when my husband asked for more gravy. The atmosphere is also nice but keep in mind that they charge london prices. A pint of Estrella is £6.5

This place has consistently got worse over the years been coming to the Langdale for 10 years, now won’t go to the stove. The food is over priced and and poor quality, the menu just doesn’t match the surroundings. Shame it used to be good

As good as it's always been. A bit limited menu if you're staying in the hotel for a number of nights, but there are two pubs close by, and more around the area.

We are owners on the estate and called in for a drink which are a bit pricey but not too bad. We were not sure if serving food as no menus on tables or in obvious places. If we don't know, how would anyone calling in know? We love Langdale but just feel it needs someone to make a few small changes.

This is a nicely laid out restaurant in a beautiful setting, in a stunning part of the world. So it is such a shame that the food and service it is so utterly average and underwhelming! We have been staying at the estate for 20+ years, my wife’s family have been coming even longer. And the onsite catering has always been a bit hit or miss. So when it was renovated, we were excited to come back and see what they had done, the improvements that had been made and sample the new updated menu. And on a positive note, the interior, terrace, bar and dining area are amazing. However for an upmarket eatery in the heart of the lakes the food - which is the main. event - was so far off the mark! The pizzas are bland and doughy - we sent two back because they were soggy. The burgers were tasteless and over cooked - grey meat in cheap buns that wouldn’t have been out of place at Iceland! The fish and chips were just foul - soggy fish, undercooked chips, cooked in old, stale fat! The cocktails were okay, but at £15 a pop, really not cheap. And the beers are okay. But they don’t have anything local, which seems bizarre given all the excellent craft breweries in the area? The staff were very nice, but totally disorganised. No one seemed to have a handle on what had been booked or ordered. And the food turned up luke warm and nothing together. All of this is such a shame as the Langdale hotel and time share is an amazing spot and the staff aren’t wilfully bad. But for the money you are paying - 20+ for a main dish and 15 quid for a pizza - you really would expect better. I guess it has a captive audience? But given the competition across the Lakes this place really does fall short and someone needs to take it in hand.

The menu actually detailed what the food was. One criticism would be 'understated' - because the food was exceptional, the choice of wines on offer were extensive and the service was exquisite. Our first night at the estate, after arriving late, has been great.

Thoroughly enjoyed the chicken roast dinner. The cabbage and other sides were on point. The staff were super accommodating and relaxed about our large group and even accommodated us for a lunch service. Beautiful setting as well and such luck, there was a range of electric vehicle charging points available (although not all worked) but given we had travelled with 5 electric cars in our convoy it was a win! Thank you to the team

Only went in for breakfast and the service and food was amazing. The staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for you. Will definatly be returning

Excellent as always! If anyone has the pleasure of visiting Stove you need to have the lamb Henry. It's the most succulent meat you will ever eat. The staff are always friendly and attentive. You really can't ask for anything more.

Service was unreal but the food massively disappointed me. I asked for medium rare steak which came medium, incredibly tough. For the price, I would expect much better quality.

Meal with 3 friends lovely decor,not busy,staff friendly but short on numbers for staff. Food that was ordered was smoked salmon was tasty lovely fritters,pate which isnt homemade. Sirloin steaks were tough,so disappointing , left on plate at end of meal,staff did ask but just said would "mention to chef " had cheeseburgers which were tasty but very salty and very dense ,not homemade.Chips cold. Extra salad,fresh &extra coleslaw. Overall a little disappointed with visit and food only average.Very expensive for quality .

They have made great effort to provide good food and service despite the challenges of covid and difficulties of recruiting skilled staff.

It was okay. Nothing much to complain about but I'm underwhelmed. It could be fantastic but it's not. Would like to come back when not affected by covid as maybe there is more menu choice usually.

Only work down the road and came here for a Birthday meal, absolutely brilliant! Anthony showed us in and sat us down as well as sorting out our bill, he was very polite and professional, Joe and Martine looked after us throughout our meal and where both very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed. The pizzas where great so thank you to the chefs! The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, cheers for a great end to my birthday! 😁

Great food and service both times we visited

Excellent service, varied menu, the lamb was delicious. I would ask for a table by the window as inside it is quite dark for my taste.

We went on the opening evening. Some staff appeared to be new and there were a few teaching issues but staff were very friendly and in the main efficient. Overwhelmingly the food was delicious but my tuna carpaccio was too chilled which took away some of the flavour. Buffalo cauliflower tacos, the seafood ravioli and the puddings were delicious

Situated in the car park in front of the Stove restaurant and run by 2 of the chefs, limited opening - we went on a Thursday, 3 mains of lamb and brisket shawarmas and Cumberland sausage hot dog, with sides of chips and Mac and cheese, all freshly cooked, huge portions, v tasty and v reasonably priced. We were v impressed and will revisit if it remains when Stove opens fully.Thanks guys.

Langdale is beautiful but in my opinion the restaurant has regressed over recent years. I appreciate the problems of Covid but the whole concept of Stove seems to me to wrong. A yupy type of bar is not the ned. A quality restaurant with a classy menu is. It had it prior to the renovations but has most definitely lost it now. Trouble is management doesn't want to listen.

Everything was spot on from the booking process to the bill. Followed Covid guidelines well, food was excellent and atmosphere was brilliant! I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a bit of luxury at an affordable price.

Was stopping in the Langdale Hotel so booked the Stove for an evening meal. Been here a few times before and always had good food.I had the slow cooked ham hock with mustard mash, food was brilliant. Tables were nicely spaced out due to current restrictions.Only slight grumble was the service, the girl that was our waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't seem like she wanted to be there.

Normalmente nos quedamos en la finca dos veces al año, pero este fue el primer viaje de este año, ¡así que las cosas son un poco diferentes! Como nuestro grupo no se hospedaba en los hoteles sino en dos albergues, no pudimos reservar con anticipación. Tuvimos que llamar la mañana que queríamos cenar y afortunadamente conseguimos una mesa. La mesa daba a la terraza y al molino de agua y estaba bien alejada de otras mesas. Nuestra camarera, a quien hemos visto en el pasado, fue encantadora y muy atenta. La comida, aunque un poco cara, era deliciosa y lo mejor era el budín de pan y mantequilla Sticky toffee. Una velada muy agradable con un distanciamiento social bien organizado.

Nos alojamos en el Langdale y usamos la estufa 3 veces. En primer lugar, tomamos una copa afuera, las mesas un poco sucias (no es ideal durante este tiempo con Covid) el servicio era promedio hasta el punto de tomar bebidas mal y ni siquiera tener algunas de las bebidas que tenían en el menú. También tuve una pizza para llevar que estaba muy bien, caliente y cocinada a tiempo, muy sabrosa y valió la pena. También comimos en el restaurante principal Stove. No obtuve el nombre de las camareras todo lo que sé que era de Rumania y fue excelente, fue muy educada, muy servicial y en general un excelente servicio. Teníamos el salmón frito para comenzar, que era ligero, sabroso y perfecto seguido de un buen postre de crema y muy buen vino. Las mesas estaban bien distribuidas debido a covid, se tomaron todas las precauciones y te hicieron sentir muy cómodo. Correcto. Le daría 5 estrellas si no fuera por el servicio de bar.

Stayed at Brimstone, the 5-star hotel on the estate and this restaurant is nothing close to 5-star. There are other properties on the Langdalke estate, which may review the quality as slightly better than me?

Comimos tres veces durante nuestra estancia en el Hotel Brimstone, ya que no teníamos ganas de ir muy lejos y nos decepcionó las tres veces. ¡Seguimos esperando que mejorara! El menú, aunque comprensiblemente limitado, era simplemente extraño: muchas combinaciones extrañas que no funcionaron. La comida también era siempre insípida. 19 para un plato de salmón frito más pequeño tenía un valor realmente bajo; supongo que creen que tienen una audiencia cautiva. Tampoco me gustó la habitación en la que nos pusieron, que no tenía ventanas, muy diferente a las partes que muestran en el sitio web. Overpriced. No atmosphere or imagination but functional if you're starving.

Lovely restaurant and bar at Langdale. Food is good and they make great cocktails. Formal and less formal seating areas, and fantastic outdoor space with water wheel and fire pit. We have been coming to Langdale for decades and the look and quality of the bar and dinning area is better than ever. Recommended.

Beautiful decor, very friendly staff, good choice of food including vegetarian and vegan choices, however, the mac n cheese was a bit bland and dry and the vegan chickpea and corriander burger extremely dry 😕

Just back from our timeshare week in the estate. Ate here one evening. So disappointing that the menu remains the same every year and we ended up having the exact same meal we had two years ago. The attitude of the staff also remains an issue. The young ginger haired man with glasses who checked us in was pushing for us to go straight to our table despite us arriving at least 30 mins early to have a relaxing drink in the bar and then when he did take us to our table in the wine room didn’t like it that we complained about sitting directly underneath a music speaker that was blurting out unpleasant music. He said he would mention it to the manager but since he never came back we sorted it out for ourselves with the lovely waitress in the wine room and we successfully moved tables. We also witnessed this same guy, who later came to serve in the wine room, not being very good at his job and embarrassing two young women who were sitting at the table next to us. The restaurant overall seemed very quiet which was strange for even mid-week.We went in a couple of times for drinks. Again, the bar staff seemed to have a bit of an attitude in the way they came across (especially the short guy with the hipster beard). The Australian chap however was lovely.On our last evening we tried to get a table but we’re told we’d have to wait until 9pm! However we decided to stay and have drinks at the comfy sofas around the bar and was able to order food sitting there. We actually enjoyed this more than the night in the wine room - more relaxed, better service and cheaper (since we shared a starter and main course)On our day of departure from our lodge we had the buffet breakfast. Although it was still very busy at 9.30am we had an enjoyable breakfast before our journey home.Overall they really need to look at the dinner menu - surely they have chefs there would could easily change the menu to showcase different and local foods. The prices are for fine dining but it’s not! Next year during our timeshare week we have already decided to go elsewhere to eat.

Sin duda habría pensado en alojarme en Langdale Resort si lo hubiera sabido. La comida era excelente al igual que el servicio. Me sentí muy bien en un restaurante de hotel, no estaba muy ocupado para el almuerzo del sábado por lo agradable que es.

Comimos aquí durante su estancia en el hotel Brimstone.La comida era de buena calidad, y el personal era muy atento, sin embargo, el servicio fue muy lento. También era relativamente caro: probablemente comeremos en otro lugar si nos quedamos en el hotel nuevamente.

We had been slightly worried about choosing to eat here after reading some of the mixed reviews. However, we needn’t have been concerned. Staff were friendly and attentive, we ordered pizzas and they were delicious (and arrived very quickly!). We would definitely return!

We were staying at the Langdale so had breakfast included as part of our room package. As many others below have pointed out when you are paying a lot of money to stay somewhere the service should match. Breakfast this morning was an absolute disaster! Firstly 3/4 of the hot food buffet was empty and the chef was rude when asked if there was anymore and kept coming back out with a really bad attitude.You are supposed to be able to order hot food options from your table. After not being asked I enquired with a member of the waiting on staff who said very abruptly just let me finish this then walked into the kitchen shaking his head and sighing because I had asked him. I find this completely unacceptable and as others have mentioned your staff are letting this restaurant down.Please address these issues ASAP to stop The Langdales reputation suffering.

The bar service was great, the food was amazingly tasty and service in restaurant was top notch!! Really lovely dining experience.. not too fancy but understated elegance. Loved the decor n atmosphere too. Me and my husband love Langdale and all facilities it has to offer.

Great food and it's in an amazing environment

Service was appalling, took well over an hour just to place the order (staff were busy, not particularly friendly and then our waitress left for an hour with no one else seemingly covering her section). Some dishes were mediocre but the pizzas were apparently very good. Will give it another try.

I’ve been to the Lakes so many times and have never heard of this wonderful place. Great service, a funky relaxed bar with nice cocktails and superb food. I had the poussin which was extremely tasty and my husband had the moules which were in a creamy garlic sauce. We then had the little coffee deserts (espresso ice cream and a shot of ameretto ) which were perfect! A must visit!

Maybe one of my pickier reviews but I just expected better for the price you pay.The food was good but the service was a bit amateurish i.e. getting our order wrong and being continuously asked twice for drinks orders/starters etc. Also, when my starter arrived, the shell was still on the prawn. I would have expected a plate to place the shell on and maybe a finger dip to wash my fingers.

Staff are very friendly however service is slow

We stayed at the brimstone which was very nice. Unfortunately despite really good service Stove had a bad evening. My wife's fishcake was so salty it was not edible and in one mouthful to taste I got several fish bones. The waitress did kindly inform the chef and offered a manager which I declined as I am not one to make a fuss. I felt that prices were also quite high for what was delivered. I have to say that both our cheese starter and my muscles were very nice even if they had also unfortunately run out of fries for the muscles.

The food was excellent, the Junior Restaurant staff need a little more product knowledge, so they can recommend or explain the food items on the menu. Very polite staff, they just need a little more training. I would still go back there again!

Lovely food, great atmosphere, non existent Bar service. If you want to wait 25 minutes for a glass of wine, this is your kind of place.

The best thing about stove is the location. If you are staying at Langdale or Brimstone, it's the restaurant that serves the place and it does a good reliable job. Breakfasts were good, the buffet was nothing to write home about, but the hot dishes from the kitchen were really great. I had dinner there twice and service and food was good, again nothing gourmet, but being able to walk down from the hotel to the restaurant is so convenient, and service and food good, that it became a comfortable place to start or end the day instead of driving around looking for some sort of fancy dinner.

Just popped in for coffee after my swim. Served straight away. Nice comfy seating looking out on beautiful surroundings... very relaxing.

We have been staying at our timeshare lodge for a few years now and have visited the stove on each occasion . Every visit without exception we have waited an age for our food whether it be lunch or dinner it’s always the same excuse of “ we have been so busy ... lots of people turning up at the same time “etc etc . So when we arrived for breakfast we gave ourselves plenty of time but this did not stop the catalogue of errors:

Great place to eat and although it's not a pub I would choose to eat here rather than the Wainwrights. Delicious food and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere and a clean and welcoming place to have dinner.

Only popped into Stoves for a drink during the day, but was really impressed with the look of the restaurant and the good nature and friendliness of the staff. Have now added to list of places to visit when next in the lakes.

Eat at the Stove restaurant for my wife's 30th Birthday. They gave us a good large table in a cosy area.. The restaurant is nicely presented. The wife and I had the slow cooked rib of beef. It was served at the table and was outstanding. Great choice of wine and cocktails. The service was brilliant. they gave my wife a free cocktail and presented a birthday cake at the end. Ignore the bad reviews, the place is brilliant.
