Baha's Cafe Lounge in South Lakeland

Great restaurant, beautiful decor and delicious food.

Dined at Baha on the evening of November 17th and left thoroughly disappointed. It’s disheartening to see how far the experience has declined. The Mac and Cheese was shockingly subpar—overcooked pasta paired with a cloying, unpleasant cheese sauce. The smashed patty burger was equally disappointing, dominated by an overwhelming truffle mayo that left little room for the flavors of the beef patty or cheese to shine. The pricing structure has also changed significantly, with inflated prices and items now priced individually, further detracting from the value. When we raised our concerns, the response was dismissive at best—“Ok, I see” is hardly an appropriate way to address customer feedback. Staff would benefit greatly from comprehensive training on customer service, particularly in handling complaints professionally and constructively. To top it off, we had to specifically request the removal of the gratuity, given the series of disappointments. It’s sad to see how far Baha has strayed from its former standard, replaced by an amateurish menu and a lackluster dining experience. Regrettably, we won’t be returning anytime soon.

I went in with some mates and got some cocktails. I can't comment on the food, but I do like how they've used old books to make a design for one of their walls.

The food in the restaurant it's superb, some of the testier food and meat I have ever had in the UK, I strongly recommend eating out there you won't regret and the Staff all of them are super friendly and nice, A massive " well done to Chloe " at the restaurant for her super friendly service.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The meat platter is basically a Weathersoons mixed grill. The crunchy chicken burger was standard at best. Nothing about the menu was Asian street food. 2 drinks, 2 terrible meals £95.00. I'm more than happy to pay happy for good quality food but this was the exact opposite. We basically ran out of here. The atmosphere felt like a revolution bar in bowness, shame!

Booked a table to watch the dj but we were booked 2 floors above him. After 30 minutes downstairs we couldn't get served just queued at the bar and the one stagf member working just served the ones he knew so just left and went elsewhere. Atmosphere wasn't great. Wouldn't recommend.

This was the absolute PERFECT experience. I highly recommend. The service. All the workers were so kind and patient. The food came quick, which was really amazing. They didn’t forget anything, even the small requests we added. The guys who served us and took our order were super sweet and so gentle when talking. The Food. Super yummy, I loved and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The food is Cooked to absolute perfection. My sister is still raving about just how good the fries were. I would highly recommend the chicken burger, it was absolutely beautiful. Atmosphere. It was so pretty, lovely atmosphere. It’s so peaceful and where we sat had heaps of space. It’s very aesthetic, amazing vibes. 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend. Thank you for the lovely experience BAHA!!!

Went last night for a meal with my partner and young one (6). Was greeted and shown a table instantly & drinks order taken promptly. Service was generally good. The food on the other hand was a let down. Not afraid to pay for good quality food but unfortunately it didn’t match up to the pricing. I did find most things to be under seasoned & steak quality just wasn’t matched with the A la carte style pricing. The Mac ‘n’ cheese was overcooked & released water when the kitchen re-heated the dish to serve. Which then mixed with the cheese sauce in the dish and created a watery cheese sauce which was not liable to serve. (Do if from fresh it’s easier) the cocktails i do give credit for as they were very good. Again for the service also we were made to feel welcome in a lovely environment.

We came here 4 years ago and had a fantastic experience, now however standards have declined drastically. For a start to see bouncers on the door to a restaurant in bowness should have indicated the type of clientele that dine in this establishment. Filled with foul mouthed kids and chavs making it difficult to relax and enjoy a meal. Secondly I ordered a Guinness that absolutely stunk and was clearly past it's best. Changed to a peroni and got a flat pint. Then I ordered a £29 sirloin steak, expecting a high quantity cut piece of meat, beautifully cooked, I got a poorly cut over cooked steak, no better than one you would order at weatherspons. Massively overpriced for very average food. I really would not recommend this for a drink or a dinning experience, so disappointing from how it used to be

Great bar staff drinks and DJ 👌

A nice clean place for something to eat or drink. The food was good, and the waitress who took our order was really good, there was 8 of us, all changing our minds what we wanted, but she got it all spot on, and the service was really quick.

Not enough staff. People walking out as service was so bad. I asked if there was anyone to help the 2 staff that was already overworked and was met with immediate hostility which resulted in me being asked to leave. Absolute joke. Avoid if you can. Plenty of other pleasant bars local

What an amazing restaurant! The food and cocktails were gorgeous, the staff were very attentive and polite, and we even got a free shot for a special occasion, which was lovely. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Baha was an amazing find on the first night of our honeymoon, my wife is coeliac, and when we looked at their menu it was impressive all the options they had for her, the food was amazing, the chicken wings especially and the staff were so friendly! Will definitely visit again, thank you Baha bowness!!!!

Bar downstairs was pleasant enough with good choice of beers, however dining in the restaurant was a let down with poor menu choice and very noisy. Last time we had a great choice of Asian food but unfortunately this was not the case. I am aware that menus change but it could be better.

Coming back to this place after a gap of 3 years. Great vibe and decent food. Compared to other places, unless you are next to the lake, this place is nice to sit. Lot of grills and meats. A little limited in terms of options for vegetarians

Really enjoyed the food here. Had the Tomahawk pork. Beautifully cooked and perfectly spiced. The place had a happy vibe.

A party of 16 booked in. We where in separate cubicles and it was empty upstairs. We had 3 drinks each . Had to keep asking waiters for drinks gone n lemonade was available but if you wanted tonic you had to pay . Wouldnt reccomend and wouldnt go again. Pub was empty downstairs but had lots of staff . They need some upstairs to help .

The service was great, staff was amazing. The food was not good frozen chicken burgers, microwaved mac and cheese. Smash burgers not smash burgers! First looks online seemed to show family friendly! If you have children think again. Adults clearly taking coke in the toilets corridor.

I’ve been here 3 times but most recently something wasn’t right. A tale of two stories this one. Absolutely fantastic hosts and servers who will go beyond and above to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. While we’re on the positives, the double smash burger was good. However, the sides were awful. The pigs in blankets are smothered in a tacky chimmichuri, the mac and cheese tasted like bad water. The goose bbq sauce tasted like truffle water. On that note, there seemed to be truffle in everything which, to me, tastes like petrol. Atmosphere is good upstairs; a little rowdy downstairs with the intimidating presence of bouncers. On the whole, an underwhelming experience.

One of the better options to eat around Bowness, I recommend their chicken (wings and half chicken) as it was tender and well cooked. The service was lovely too and we went during a quiet time at around 8pm on a Wednesday

The worst fish burger I have ever eaten! Fuming, could have thrown in a lettuce leaf! Even the bun was stale!

Recently visited Baha Bar for a meal and drinks with friends. Overall had a great experience, there was a saxophonist and DJ for the evening entertainment. Great music and vibe, allowing you to party the night away. It was busy but well observed by the numerous door and bar staff. One thing did let the night down though when our friend's drink was spiked, fortunately she noticed before taking a drink. We quickly identified the culprit, one which we all had our wits about us due to his questionable behaviour. I am pleased to say the staff and door persons removed him swiftly, they then went on to make sure we were all ok and fellow groups of girls which they were hanging around. Thank you for top service, vibes and overall sense and responsibility, it was and is appreciated.

The food is below average. I ordered fish, mac n cheese, rice, and potatoes, and the food was without spices 🥲 but their service is good.

Lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and so reasonably priced. The cocktails are really good. It gets busy later on and has a bit more of a club atmosphere, with music playing. There's a bar on the ground floor, then the restaurant area above that, this gets closed off later on. Then there's a Tikki cocktail bar upstairs that has a small dance floor. Great atmosphere, and the staff were super friendly.

£20 service charge on top my 85 meal bill🙃 steak £29 no chips came on it’s own and was not ver good at all. The chicken I poured loads of sauce on it to make it taste if any. Service was quick. Had my eyes out

Food is mediocre at best, if you order a burger, literally that's what you get, no salad or fries. Fries are £4.50 extra. If you order the olives, they are simply that, some tinned olives in a ramekin. My friend had steak which he said was was "the worst steak he had ever had" Seems like everything is done on the cheap, I could have had a better meal if I had bought the ingredients from Iceland. Staff not interested and an apology was only mentioned in passing when we were leaving. Great venue but won't be coming here again, very disappointed.

Ate here in the afternoon, food was lovely and served quickly. Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Returned later in the evening to enjoy the live music. Fantastic atmosphere! Thanks for a great night!!

Food was divine. Service was 5*. Dog friendly also 🐾. Would definitely dine here again and recommend this place to anyone staying in the Lakes - especially around the Windermere area.

The decor is amazing. Absolutely stunning. Due to this, it unfortunately attracts the "Instagramers" lol. Everything is sold separately, for example, my husband's steak was £29 and didn't even come with a side salad. The food mostly looks great, but doesn't actually taste that great. If you want to take photos being somewhere with stunning interior, then this place is perfect. If you'd like a really tasty meal, then there are far better restaurants near by. Some of which are cheaper. I'm a vegetarian and my husband is a meat eater, and neither of us were impressed with our meals. They don't do frozen cocktails, but the ones they do make, are really lovely, such as their Pina colada.

Wish I could give 0 stars! I made a booking for my boyfriends birthday meal just us two a week or so in advance for 7pm. On the day I called at around 4.30/5pm and asked if it was possible to move the booking later, the lady on the phone said yes of course and said the last booking would be at 8.45pm. I decided to book for 8.30pm and the only reason we moved it later was because we were out sight seeing as we’re on a trip away for his birthday, and we wanted to see more. However, I double checked with the lady on the phone asking “so if we turn up at 8.30pm we will still get food right, the kitchen doesn’t close?” She was very reassuring and said yes of course! You will still be served food. I was like great that’s amazing I will move it please. We then run 10 mins late as my boyfriend misplaced his wallet and had a bit of a panic, so I called back and said how we were running 10 minutes late and double checked this was okay, we would still be served food and it was only to come 10 minutes late, she was yet again very nice and reassuring and said yes of course, thanks for letting us know that’s no problem, we will see you soon! I was thinking perfect, we don’t need to worry we have time to find the wallet and get there. We walked down about 20 minute walk, turn up to be greeted to the waiter looking very confused, I said my name, we’re here for our booking. He says wait here one second and ran upstairs, comes back down and speaks to the other man behind the bar, he then comes up to us like, our kitchens closed, we can’t serve you food. I was of course very shocked and confused and asked what do you mean? We had a booking? I literally spoke to you guys on the phone 30 mins ago and was never told this or told this a few hours before when I moved the booking and never told when I made sure!! We would get food!!! He literally just stared at us, no apology or anything, no concern that it was now 8.45pm, my boyfriends birthday, we were supposed to coming for a lovely meal and now what do we do?! He said the kitchen closed at 7.30pm?! Our last booking for food was 7.30pm, as if this was my fault and I should’ve known this? Firstly, why close your kitchen when you have a booking? Secondly, if you’re going to close your kitchen early, why tell me we can move the booking and still get food? THIRDLY, why don’t you CALL ME and tell me this, so we’re aware and can choose to not come later on or find somewhere else for food! Bare in mind, this is 8.45pm on a Sunday in Windemere, we soon realised this meant we weren’t going to be eating ANYWHERE. We still got no apology or anything, he didn’t care about us one bit and didn’t care that this was ruining my boyfriends birthday and we had no where else to go for food. We had to leave, with no other choice, walking around windemere in the dark, trying every place we see to get some food. Nowhere was serving, we were staying in an air BnB which didn’t have a kitchen or anything and no microwave so not like we could make anything. By this time it was 10.30pm and we got home, after having all this planned and getting all dressed up and nice, really excited to have a lovely meal. We had to drive 45 mins away to a service station so we could get some food. Not the nicest way to spend your birthday evening on your weekend trip away! I’m super annoyed, angry and upset by this, the lack of service or even care for customers is a joke!! Would not recommending at all!!

Came for my partner’s birthday and unfortunately she was not happy with the food… service was good venue is good. But what is with the menu? What do you identify as? Burger 4/10 beef was good cheese is cheap sauce but n the burger good not sure why 15 pickles on it tho. Mash potatoes 1/10 clearly out of the microwave. Mac and cheese 1/10 again clearly microwaved and also tastess

We had a fabulous meal here! Cat and George are so very attentive and the chicken is the best we have ever tasted!!! Thanks so much for your dedication and hard work and genuine care for your customers!!!! We will be back for sure!!

Staff were amazing food was delicious shame we didn't go on a live music night however we found it was a welcoming restaurant. we Definitely will visit again in the near future thanks baha

Food was excellent, really nice place.

We stopped in for one drink but the place is lovely and the staff are friendly. It was a Thursday afternoon so it was quiet but I imagine it’s a great place to go for a night out. Very dog friendly too.

We were welcomed at the door by a friendly face , food was fabulous we had the most amazing chicken Platter ..they loved my puppy Betsy too .. the restaurant and the toilets were immaculate .. staff were great xx will be back ..thank you x

Wow...simply wow...no the traditional lakeland pub you'd expect but a fantastic break from the norm...welcoming, superb area and great cocktails.. A must !!!

Great place, we went to the lakes for my 50th and to Baha for some food and drinks, food was good and not too expensive.

The greeting on entry was awful. The lady sounded and looked as if she couldn't be bothered. Once at the table asked if could explain the menu and again it seemed to be an effort by the server and we didn't understand how it worked. Not a good explanation.The menu never had a great selection in my opinion. Thought there would be more chicken options. Didn't fancy a fish burger or hummus. Paid for the wine that unfortunately we had already ordered and left.

Waitress a misery bad experience so left not impressed won't be going back ever !

Looking for somewhere to eat was recommended to this bar the staff were really friendly the atmosphere was warm and cozy the food was amazing very enjoyable evening I would give this place a try

Went to dinner after work with colleagues and we were not disappointed, the staff were really attentive and polite, lovely atmosphere with Christmas back ground music on, getting us all in the spirit and the food was just amazing, we ordered the flat bread with beetroot hummus to start - lovely we then ordered our own mains with shared sides and it was all amazing, the Oyster Mushroom was just stunning, the fish & chicken burgers were also excellent. I would highly recommend. :)

Food is incredible, atmosphere is vibrant, staff are friendly and attentive, amenities are modern and clean, cocktails are well made and the decor is modern and a refreshing change to the other local pubs. Bowness sorely needed a place like this.

From what used to be one of my favourite places to go, this place has evidently gone down hill. There were literally no customers, freezing cold venue, no music or atmosphere whatsoever and the new furniture makes the restaurant look like a storage room. I told the waiter who laughed hysterically and agreed. Good service, food was ok but for the price I expected better. They’ve reduced their portions but price the same, if not more expensive. Will not be going back.

Save yourself £50 and get an Iceland sharing platter for home. Not a single fresh ingredient to be seen.

Three of us ate here after a recommendation from a colleague. Food and service outstanding, and the decor was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely return on our next visit

We came for our the bottomless brunch and I could not recommend this enough! Wow! So much great food, attentive team and great drinks. Well worth the money, you feel like you get so much more than you paid for. Thank you to the team for being incredibly welcoming and looking after us so well, our apologies to the Barman for his aching arm with all the cocktails he had to make 😬 we loved them, you made them so well so we wanted more 😄 Thank you to Emily(I think) and the other blonde lady for being such wonderful humans 😘😘 On behalf of us mums that don’t get out much, thank you to BAHA for putting up with us and doing it which such warmth, fun and attentiveness😘😘 100% recommend.

I would have given 0 if I could. Service poor spoilt a special anniversary for myself and my wife. Would not recommend. We returned today (Sunday) and spoke with the manager who was very understanding and apologetic. He said he would take on board our issues and hopefully things like this will not happen again. So at some point we would give it another visit.

Great bar and vibe, sadly experience is ruined by door staff suffering from an episode of inflated self importance and inability to grasp the concept that the bar/venue, doesn’t own the pavement… recommend a visit to the venue, however recommend steering clear of the bouncers. Low complexity tasks such as understanding ownership of pavement is a particularly difficult challenge for the bouncer. No transparency on payment / incentives

Couples stay away from this venue -Huge safety concern! The bouncers are highly rude and problematic. One tried to start on me and my partner for simply making eye contact with him until they realised we were with other couples. We went in for 1 drink and came back out 30 minutes later and I was shocked to come out to find 3 police cars and that the same bouncer who was trying to start a fight had been in an altercation with another couple with the female been absolutely distraught with a video of what had happened to her partner. This place needs to think about the staff they hire to represent the business. The reviews I have read all have a common denominator of the bouncers been rude and confrontational. Bouncers are supposed to be there for safety not to use it as a free pass to try punch someone and get away with it. The owner seriously needs to look into this!

Our friend was throwing us her b’day party and wanted to enjoy the night life of windermere. I never knew a vivacious pub like this do exist in windermere. Saturday was a dj night and oh boy dj did played an unconventional hindi song just for us which is flattering really and we ended up dancing to tunes after few drinks. Truly loved it do visit and have fun with friends

It was quiet when we went in, but the staff were very friendly. Nice few vegan options but we both went for the burgers. Cant complain about the food, everything was perfect! And the vegan slaw was really good too. My only cons were the beer didn’t taste very good. It was definitely more bitter than it should be. Maybe first couple of pints of the day? When you charge almost £7 a pint, you want it to be nice. Also, the staff kept skipping the music leaving pauses of a few seconds between each which interrupted the only bit of atmosphere at the time which was a shame. We did come in at a weird time, so can’t blame them for the quietness. But would return again!

The afternoon tea was lovely, but I was really disappointed we had no tes. The staff were no where to be seen. We were there for 2 hours and gave up paid and left The venue was stunning the food was lovely we had gluten free and vegetarian options which were great. It was just really over priced for what we had. It could have been so lovely but ended up being left disappointed. (I couldn't remove the £35 tip)

Visited Baha for an evening meal & drinks. I opted for the Baha burger & my girlfriend had the steak. Both were pretty average and would compare to a nice level of pub food. Service could be improved as it took a while to get initial drinks ordered, despite being sat right next to the bar, in full view of the many waiting staff. It seems managers see you, but wait for waiting staff to get the drinks & go back to their laptop screens. The ambience seemed to be shifting towards a club atmosphere which made us feel a little out of place. A decent spot but could use some improvements.

Nice bar. Good chilled out music but lights too bright. Dimmer lights would add to the atmosphere. Cocktail was good but no communication from one of the staff. We said something to him. Didn't respond. No eye contact. Other staff appeared friendly.

Overpriced and bang average. TGI Fridays vibes. My burger looked as though it was frozen before being cooked. £4.50 for what tasted like rola cola. Always been an eye-catching place in Windermere, but I certainly won't be returning.

First time at Baha and really enjoyed it. Great service, friendly staff, excellent cocktails and a good variety of dishes on the menu. Loved the decor. Children and dogs are welcome too.

This place looks amazing inside, unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. In fact it was pretty poor. I am not one to write reviews but I was actually very disappointed that I paid £75 for 2 adults and 1 child and It went in the bin. The steak was not medium as asked, it was tough, dry and drizzled in olive oil. I have never in my life had a steak drizzled in olive oil and my jaw started to ache eating it, I wasted it. I am not one to ever waste a steak but it was bad. My stomach feels sick now as I am writing this. I don’t like writing bad reviews, however, I thought I best write this, so others do not feel as disappointed as I am now. I would defiantly look elsewhere. I did inform the staff. The response was and that’s why I work behind the bar. £20 for this steak and it was not even a fillet. I won’t be going there again.

Fantastic restaurant/bar. Loverly evening out, great atmosphere, delicious food & drinks!! Well paced between each meal, don’t feel like you’re been rushed out!! Cozy yet quirky style and feel! We will be back!!

The food was wonderful , super tasty and very well presented. The service was very underwhelming however. Lots of staff on but very little communication with customers. Lots of chatting at the bar and working on the computer. We waited a long time for our food order to be taken and had no explanation of the menu.

Went for Sunday roast with my daughter it’s an awesome place the staff were cheerful and just the right amount of attentive. The food was awesome served quickly and hot the unlimited gravy is a nice touch as often ‘posh roasts’ tend to be drier than my mother in laws sense of humour. I cried inside when it came with a full cooked carrot (a life time of hating carrots regardless of the supposed ocular benefits)but they somehow managed to make that tasty too ..will definitely be going again the table opposite had the afternoon lunch which Also looked nice

Unacceptable customer service, George was very unpleasant and cocky, 3/4 of restaurant empty and we were turned away with no explanation and with arrogant comments from previously mentioned George!

Walked in with a restaurant 3/4 empty and wanted to try Baha having to visit Windermere. Only to be turned away with no apparent reason by George as not taking walk-ins, again with restaurant nearly empty. Seemed more like they couldn’t be bothered serving a group of six. We were left baffled with the service upon entry and fair to say we’re not impressed and would not recommend.

First visit and only called in for a drink but definitely will return, next time to also eat. Unusual decoration but it works and staff were very friendly.

The food was so over priced £23 for two burgers that were dry, bland and over cooked. £6.50 for fries that had next to no toppings and coldslaw that was soggy and sour. The cola said it was premium but tasted like thick syrup and was flat. Absolutely vile. No toilet roll in the ladies. The staff were lovely especially the man in front down stairs. Was looking forward to a lovely meal but the decor and food didn’t match at all. Wouldn’t recommend nor come again. I wanted to complain and wanted to ask for a refund on the drink as it wasn’t drinkable but couldn’t get anyones attention and also didn’t want to cause agg. Proper disappointing and tbf would of rather had a spoons burger.

Incredible food, full of flavour! Such lovely staff and service also. If I lived here this would be for sure my favourite place to eat out and drink. Cocktails were so tasty, vibrant and well made. 10/10 for sure!

The decor and atmosphere is good but that's the only good part I'm afraid. The food is insanely overpriced considering it's pretty bland and the portions are tiny. It's actually better value for money to get food at the Michelin Star Gilpin Spice than to eat here which is outrageous. Maybe go for a drink but don't waste your money on the food.
