The best restaurants in Central Liverpool North West

Since this has now become part of the Bridewell & Denbigh Castle group, I'm on board. Bar staff are really well trained and we had such a friendly welcome and service. Beer garden outside is great. Inside, there's not much room for those who just want a drink. It's clearly still a restaurant of some kind, which confused me a bit, as I was expecting a pub. In any case, I'll come back in the summer for the beer garden, but not for the food as the prices were really quite high.

Friendly staff and the food was nice. Reasonably priced too. Would recommend for breakfasts.

I liked it before it became a sports pub a few years ago and it was quaint and had good food. It has lost its personality and charm. It was full of nice people out for shopping and a nice lunch...in those days.

I love the ambience, very cosy for breakfast. Staff are lovely and affordable.

So why did I rate this place down when the atmosphere and food were great - because I'd not expect my female guests to have to share toilets with drunk men!

Don't wate your deposit, we didn't even get served a drink, rubbish atmosphere ,was so disappointed the best bit about it was rhe telephone box !!!

Staff member as I describe as old, balding, rude and abusive toilets terrible won’t be going back again ruined atmosphere in pub on match day.

I tried to order a piece of cake and a cappuccino from this shop and when I asked could I have the cake warmed up in the microwave something I always request when I go to Costa the staff member very rudely stated "I cannot put the cake in the microwave because of cross contamination" I was shocked and amazed by how stupid she sounded as I have had this request granted many times at multiple different Costa coffee shops and there is no raw food actually being prepared at Costa everything is prepackaged and cooked before it is served in the shops all they are doing is putting things in a microwave I was a long standing Costa coffee customer but that was the final straw I will not be returning to this or any other Costa in the future

Welcoming and nicely decorated venue. The food was high quality and very reasonably priced. Staff all very helpful, the service was very thorough without being invasive. I'll certainly eat here again and would recommend others to do the same

Great place, very large, loads of seats, great choice of beers. Mens toilets are a disgrace. Three traps, two don't have working locks, the one one with a lock had no toilet roll. Been many times always the same. Update May 2025, prices have gone up a lot. Visited several pubs and they were busy, HOS was quieter and we wondered why, 2 pints of Northern Monk Faith at £8.25 a pint, blow me down the beers are now expensive.
