The Font in Liverpool

In response to your request for people to be kind in your various condescending response comments below, that is rather hypocritical considering your lack of kindness towards eight young respectful students. It's therefore hardly surprising that numerous people felt the need to leave feedback warning others about your intimidating attitude to their friends and relatives is it, both on this site and other platforms from what I have seen. As you are well aware from the photograph posted and from one of the students parents speaking to yourself, both food and drink had been purchased by the students who you asked to leave, just not enough it seems! Not sure where the good vibes advertised were hiding on Friday, as you just caused unnecessary upset to my daughter and her friends, so of course your comments hit a nerve with us! I am aware in response to your query, that the hospitality industry is having a challenging time and your establishment was pretty empty when you so rudely asked the students to leave (and now not to come back, according to the parent who spoke to you to express her concerns regarding your behaviour). It actually makes sense to have people in the bar to attract more custom when it's empty, which you should know after 24 years! I have been to The Font myself on a couple of occasions and personally was unimpressed and am even more so now! Like you say though there are plenty of other places in the area, thanks for the heads up about your neighbours, hopefully they will be more welcoming and not wanting to turn the students upside down to empty their pockets! It's nice to be nice!!!

I am absolutely appalled by the owners attitude towards polite and sensible students. It is not out of the ordinary for students to be low on cash and to frequent student bars which cater to their budgets. Having visited this establishment on numerous occasions, each time buying food and drink. I was shocked and appalled at the tone and manner of the owner here yesterday. He behaved very much like a bully who does not appear to actually like students, despite owning a bar in a predominantly student area. There are nearby bars that give a welcome reception. The Arts bar, Hope and Anchor , The shipping forecast which does £2 pints upon presenting student ID. The owner here should think about starting up a male version of Karen's diner- he'd be perfect!

I think the statement that you are one of the friendliest bars is rather an exaggeration!!!!!!!! Considering that my polite 18 year old daughter who is a local college student and her friends, were told to leave your establishment yesterday, having done nothing wrong and also having been in giving you regular business previously. What a very unpleasant little man you sound, trying to humiliate young people who were no trouble and just having a nice time!!! You had no valid reason for asking them to leave as they purchased food and drink and had been respectfully using the games that are out for people to play. You claimed they had spent too much time in your establishment. In future my daughter will be spending her time where she is made welcome in a genuinely student 'friendly' establishment. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!! People can check out the rude comments you have made to the other negative reviews left on here.

The owner doesn't like students, but is running a bar in a student area! Uses bullying tactics to remove young girls. Unpleasant character as you will see from his responses on here.

Not a great experience would not go back again. Not made to feel welcome by male member of staff who asked me and a few of my friends to leave as we hadn’t spent enough according to him, although we had bought chips and drinks.

Today I’ve had an unfortunate experience at 'The Font' with eight friends. We visited as we typically do and a few of us bought food and drinks while playing the provided board games. After some time, a staff member approached us with an intimidating demeanour and inquired about our ages. Upon informing him that we were between 16 and 18, he stated that we sat in there too often and used it as ‘our living room’ and ‘didn’t spend enough money for it to be worth him letting us in’ As students, our budget is limited, which is precisely why we choose to come to 'The Font' in the first place. To add to the situation, he claimed we weren’t allowed in without an adult over 18 present. I mentioned that I am over 18, which seemed to leave him momentarily speechless. Ultimately, he insisted that if we didn’t increase our spending, we would not be welcome back. The bar was very empty at this time and so we weren’t taking up seats that could have been used for new customers. This interaction left me with the impression that he prioritizes profit over customer experience. It’s disappointing, as we hoped to continue enjoying our time there but I definitely will not be returning there again!

Cocktails are cheap and quite good, decently strong for a 3 for £9 deal. Beer is a bit expensive but staropramen on tap alongside other good beers, and the good music and atmosphere makes it worth the trip. Really cool place!

As part of our trip to Liverpool from Boston, my daughter found this place to try though no one greeted us. We did accidentally come from the back entrance without knowing there was a main entrance so we waited to see if anyone would come over and greet us after we asked if we can seat ourselves. After about 10 minutes we went to the bar to place the order, we weren't told we would be served or if we had to order at the counter. I got the chicken bacon wrap and my daughter order the sweet chili seitian wrap with the vegan oreo sundae. When our food arrived my daughter didn't receive the right order, instead she got a vegan burrito wrap that she didn't like. However, we didn't say anything because we didn't want to bother as we already waited a bit. The sundae wasn't her favorite either but she said it was better than the wrap. I am usually not one to complain since I understand how food service can be as my daughter is a waitress, but this was too unacceptable to be go unsaid.

EDIT: I actually paid £7 for the jacket potato (£10 including delivery fee via Uber) I wouldn’t write a review if I was happy with the telephone conversation after calling up to complain. It definitely was far from ‘ample’. It is ok to accept feedback so don't feel like you need to be defensive. X Ordered a jacket potato and ‘beans’ there was a spoon full of beans which was mainly juice wouldn’t expect it after paying £10

I’ve been taken here by my significantly younger colleagues when I visit Liverpool for work. The place makes me feel old but and the food is great (huge portions and very reasonably priced). Every time I come though I find myself prioritising exercise as it’s not exactly health food. Those young folk have less to worry about!

Came here after a recommendation from friends who were regular visitors during their university days. It’s a great place to come to watch the football as we did, the cocktails are 3 for £9 so can’t go wrong. I’d recommend the chicken Katsu burger, hats off chefs! Staff are lovely and very helpful with recommendations. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be back!

Its a decent place but don't go if there's a pub quiz on because the quizmaster is openly hostile and incredibly rude.

If you want to be screamed at to go home, barely 20 seconds after you've been politely asked to finish up by a member of staff, by all means visit this bar and be belittled. The rest of the staff, however, are wonderfully professional. And when I say screaming, that bartender should retrain as a drill sergeant, he's got the pipes for it. Totally uncalled for and demeaning behaviour for absolutely no reason. The drinks are also well over a fiver a pint so you're better off elsewhere in that sense too.

The self proclaimed homosexual in a night wing shirt ruined our night - the other bar staff were lovely and courteous but the egomaniac on the mic had to scream and resort to name calling and guilt tripping which is beyond unprofessional and was frankly embarrassing.

Called in for a spot of food at tea time on a rainy wet Saturday. Great food at a reasonable price with a decent menu covering most palates.

The drinks were decent and cheap, however, me and my friends went for Eurovision 2023, the host was absolutely 1000% awful, he was rude, spoke over every. single. act. When people left he'd scream at them and call them names, regardless of why they left, he was rude to us for...moving tables???? Like seriously??? We moved to an empty table in a bar and we're shouted at???? If you want a fun night, maybe give this a miss, if you want a cheap night, give it a go

Trendy bar for the youth with decent food and drinks

Not been back here for a while. Ordered a couple of burgers. Pretty simple stuff, but they were prepared well and quality wise no complaints. Prices have gone up a bit, but haven't they everywhere! First time I've been in and they didn't have any cask ales on though, which is a real shame, because it might not look like it from the outside, but the Font used do a really decent pint, better than a lot of real ale type pubs. So, ummm, I used to see it is as a good place to get a full stomach at a reasonable price and a good pint to wash it down with, but these factors are a little absent now. May see how it's looking in another few months time.

The only bad experience I’ve ever had in the font was 20 years ago when they asked me for ID. Anyone leaving anomalous reviews of a site at any point, especially in our current situation should be treated like the stain on society they are ridiculed. A staple of the liverpool bar scene and a treasure.

Fui al bar de fuentes el viernes 3 de octubre de 2020, mientras entraba, la música estaba muy alta, cuando mi novio y yo estábamos a punto de pedir las bebidas, decía en el menú 3 bebidas por un precio determinado (no No recuerdo el precio, pero de todos modos) así que mi novio pidió algunas bebidas, quería una de cada una como decía en el menú, pero cuando llegó su pedido, el hombre le dio 3 de las mismas bebidas con las que mi novio no estaba contento, así que dijo Quería 3 cócteles diferentes, el hombre no estaba contento, así que los tomó de vuelta para cambiarlos, luego mi novio solo quería un cóctel que era melon baller, lo ordenó, vinieron 3, así que se quejó nuevamente de que solo quería 1 bebida, luego el hombre también una señora que nos atendió tampoco estaba contento, así que tuvimos que devolver las bebidas, pedí un cóctel sin alcohol que se suponía que tenía sabor Starburst, ¡pero todas las bebidas sabían a jugo de fruta aguado! ! ! Good bar, ideal for students being literally round the corner from a good few of the Universitys but don't let that put you off, we've been a good few times now and it's a relaxed, always friendly bar with the sports on, decent food and there's a good selection of beers and spirits

The Font es uno de los mejores pubs de Arrad Street y se estableció desde 2001 y es uno de los pub favoritos de los estudiantes, ya que ofrecen bebidas y hamburguesas baratas. It’s a great place for students as it’s close to the universities but also see locals in here. Food is great, prices are cheap and the drinks are real good. Bar staff are lovely and they usually have some decent music playing if not ask them to put something else on they don’t mind. Burgers and chips they do here are great and Thursday quiz night is a good laugh with friends. The games consoles are a great addition and really add to the chilled out vibe. Only criticisms are the football when on can be very loud and sometimes the toilets aren’t in the best condition but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Their sister bar Doughbar is also great and the app is well worth getting!

Lo pasamos de maravilla aquí esta noche, las bebidas son baratas pero decentes y con una buena variedad.El chico que hizo el examen del pub era encantador, muy divertido y tenía grandes habilidades de interacción con el público, también hizo un esfuerzo para decirnos adiós cuando nos fuimos. We came with some mates to watch the football. Food was nice and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Drinks were cheap and of good quality. It could use with a good clean though and the sight of the ripped sofas is not appealing

We came to watch Liverpool play Totts in the European Cup final. Fabulous atmosphere but best of all we’re the burgers. We’ve recently eaten at Free state Kutchen and Death Row Diner but these were by far the best and the cheapest! So recommended

Staff r a bit weird especially ginger 1 but 5* tho. Nice smell and games and customers r weird. Drinks nice and food delish yum yum. No locks on toilets mean it's an adventure

I love the font so much, especially for food, the value is exceptional! You can get a jacket potato with cheese and beans for only £3.50, it is incredible! Many selected cocktails are also £3-£3.50 which is incredible, including strawberry dacquiries which are my fave! I would totally recommend this place, it is nice and relaxing and chilled out. However, sometimes they have ran out of a few items of food sometimes which is annoying. However, the staff are lovely and value for money is great!

What’s great place! Delicious food, great portion sizes and friendly staff! All combined with a great atmosphere, it makes for a lovely lunch! Also been here for cocktails which were just as tasty! Perfect bench seating for big groups or just a few friends!

Met up with some old mates at the font after our usual haunt was too full to fit us in, and wow were we impressed. The food was great value and the cocktails were creative and cheap! I opted for a Dr pepper cocktail and then a couple of others, it was great.

As a student, I like to find new places to visit and new restaurants to try out. I found out about this place from a close friend and we dined here for a quick meal before setting off to the Everyman Theatre afterwards (it's very close proximity and in walking distance)

I practically live in here every time I visit Liverpool. Fantastic bar, great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Never disappoints. I always start here before going out on a big night. Just a shame they couldn't stay open for longer!

This bar is close to the University and Catholic Cathedral and offers a good range of food at reasonable prices. Also has some tasty cask ales so ticks the boxes as far as I'm concerned!

Vicino all'università possiamo trovare questo pub, molto attivo e vivace, pieno di studenti e di vita. Birre ottime a rotazione ogni settimana, questa volta ho provato una IPA fenomenale. Ottimi burgers, con vasta scelta e molto buoni anche i contorni; assolutamente da provare le curly chips, buonissime! Il locale è carino e curato.
