Always a lovely pub to have a pint in.

We booked a family meal for my sons birthday, ben and the team couldn't do enough for us all great service with a smile, catered for everyone's needs, thanks ben and team 👍

I've been coming here for years as it's my local..The food is always good.. plenty to eat.. well presented..lovely clean pub..staff are friendly and welcoming..5 star 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Excellent service, we came to celebrate a milestone birthday, the staff where helpful and the food and drink service was 100%. Happily recommend the Royal Standard for family meals and celebrations

Our family members enjoyed a really good evening meal on 20/9 in the restaurant with a selection of steaks, curry and burgers, finished with various desserts, all our company enjoyed the food , drinks. Many thanks to Ben who served our table. Worth mentioning it was less expensive than other eateries in West Derby.

we really enjoyed our time here. The pub is dog friendly and our Luna was welcomed and fussed over and she was very happy. Ben and Liam were great servers ~ friendly, helpful and efficient. We had the steak and ale pie with chips and it was the best pie I've had in a long time. We will definitely be returning again - frequently! Thank you Ben and Liam.

Visiting friends In the area and they suggested the Royal Standard. On the plus side the staff were friendly and the service was good and attentive. However my food was well below par. I had the vegan burger and the bun was hard and inedible. It seemed like it had been frozen and had freezer burn. One of my friends said they had had a similar problem the previous month. Didn’t say anything to staff at the time as I was out with friends. However, I called later that day to provide feedback and was told the duty manager was busy but to call back in 10 minutes and he would be available. Well, I called back 10 minutes later- several times- and no one picked up the phone. Disappointing.

The food is freshly prepared and cooked, and the staff is quite pleasant and the setting is really cozy. Always friendly and with an excellent selection of cuisine.

Had yet another lovely lunch. The food was good quality and really hot on arrival. The staff were as friendly as always. You are made to feel welcome by the staff . The tables in the restaurant area are kept very clean with staff ensuring a high standard is met each time. I would recommend anyone to visit for a nice reasonable priced good quality meal.

Went mid week for evening meal. Nice food, great value for money. Friendly and polite staff.

This is first time I’ve visited this place, overall a pleasant experience. We was in a group of 6 with a 2 month old baby and had booked a table. On arrival the table was a decent size for 6 people didn’t feel too squashed and was able to get a pram next to it. The atmosphere was as would be expected from a local pub, some of the staff in the venue didn’t look to be in the best of spirits but all the staff that we were served by were great. The food was all served fast when it was ordered all came out correct with no issues. No pictures were taken of the mains. But everyone was happy and it was a good selection of dishes from the menu from small plates, steak, to burgers and salt & pepper chicken. Desserts where nice but I wouldn’t go just for them, large and mini brownies where quite generic tasting, others at the table said that there was nice but nothing of the ordinary. Overall I’d recommend it and visit it again, they do BLUE-LIGHT DISCOUNT so worth bearing this in mind.

Been our local for a few years. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Nice relaxed atmosphere, gets busy on match days and around teatime. Quiz night is always a laugh. Food is nice and reasonably priced

Went for lunch. Wife had a steak that had to be sent back, the steak was poor and full of fat, asked for medium rare and got a steak that was over cooked and like a brick. The mixed grill was worse. The sausages were undercooked and greasy, the pepper corn sauce was thick and lumpy with an unusual bitter taste and the steak was also like a brick and full of fat. Both meals were returned, while the streaks were being replaced they obviously put the food under a hot light as when it come back to the table the egg was hard and the tomato and chips were solid. I wouldn't recommend the food here, it wasn't to a good standard, service was good but the entire pub was quite quiet

Been frequently over the last year and never fails to hit the spot. The food is really good. Branded pub menu but delivered really well. Chef happy to modify my awkward burger choice. Front of house team are great. Nothing is too much trouble and everything feels organised and effortless. Our go to place because it’s so consistent.

Popped in for a spot of lunch which was very good and value for money, but was very impressed by a member of staff who looked after a blind couple on the next table,nothing was too much trouble and she was absolutely brilliant and Very attentive to there needs, sorry I didn't get her name ,

The manager was more than helpful and the food was delicious.We will definitely come back.

"Great night at this reliably friendly pub... good food and beer and atmosphere as always the food was very good. The ambience also good plus the service absolutely excellent. They always make a dog welcome too which always good for our fury friends . Love this place. It's not 'cheap' but it's good value and the atmosphere is perfect. Plus the Guinness is devine ."

Brilliant little pub, had not been there before but was a cracking place, staff were excellent, good selection of beers, and we only had a side food wise but will be going back for a full meal as everything that came out of kitchen looked and smelled fantastic, good screens for sports and good music on the background once the football finished, Top notch and another boss place found for food and drinks

Just awful !! Really disappointed, been here loads of times, but can honestly say never ever again. Came for a Sunday roast! Worse thing is we invited family to join us !!! Shocking!!! the roast dinners were uneditable ! Really awful as in dry and tasteless. The menu states pink roast beef - don’t be fooled it’s awful, dry, chewy, brown and overcooked! To be honest it didn’t even taste of beef ! The salt on the table and the gravy pot made it bearable so thanks for that!!! Service was terrible too!!! Had to asked for the table to be cleared as we sat for over half n hour with half finished plates and the place was empty !!! The biggest insult was the male member of staff with mid length hair (again not want you want to see hanging down when serving you and his very bored and rude attitude to match) that came over to tell us we hadn’t ordered a kids meal so we could have the deal!! Really the fact we had booked a high chair and ordered the drink and main meal but we didn’t actually ask for the desert at the time of ordering and paying at the till! Good places don’t ask this ! We had a stand off at the table over a child’s ice cream but he was adamant we had to pay for it ! We are gutted at this as we spent over £600 here on Christmas Day but WE most definitely won’t be returning and WE WILL most definitely will tell people to avoid !!! Please anyone reading this just AVOID AVOID AVOID !

Lovely friendly pub, great service, great food and lovely staff

Absolutely fabulous food, service is quick and food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Special mention to Ben, Owen, Laura, Janine and Lisa, as we stayed for drinks too. This is such a wonderfully friendly place to eat and drink. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you to all the team!!

With this being our pub of choice over the last few years , we were very happy to be spending Christmas Day having dinner at the Royal Standard We arrived early so had a few drinks with friends in the bar area. Christmas is a great time of year to catch up with friends and family, new and old. The Royal Standard has an all round great feel and ambience to the place . This is magnified at Christmas with the addition of the fantastic décor and general warmth of all the staff and customers. Once our table was ready, we were taken to our seating area by a wonderful member of staff called Ben . Ben has worked at this establishment for some time now but is clearly at the pinnacle of customer centricity with regard to hosting and customer service. The table itself was delightfully decorated and you could already tell that Kath and her team at the venue had been planning this event with the upmost attention to detail. The starters arrived at the table and words cannot describe just how mouthwatering-ly good this was. Needless to say , the plate was empty in super quick time. Being a traditionalist I was always going to look forward to the main course. The meats were expertly cooked and served with a delightful mix of carrots, parsnips and sweede, mash, roasties, greens, stuffing and a gravy that had not only a wonderful taste but a texture that helps to cover the plate of delicious food. The plates were well stacked , the meat was very, very tender and the vegetables were perfect, gravy moreish. Even though I was absolutely stuffed, the allure of their Christmas pudding was too hard to resist... SO DREAMY. A big thanks to Ben and Kath for making the day so memorable . All the staff at this venue actually feel like friends these days . The level of service is beyond what I would call excellent. A massive thank you to you all. “Customers who love you will market for you more powerfully than you can possibly market yourself.” See you all again soon .

Called in on passing. Never been before but will do again. Bit noisy because of no carpets but was still a pleasant experience. Food was lovely and hot. I had hunters chicken and hubby had chicken and ham pie. Both were delicious. Very pleasant staff

We use the Standard on probably a weekly basis and are always pleased with both the food and service. We decided to try their Christmas Day menu and booked this in advance. The whole experience was excellent - the food was really good quality, well cooked and presented. The staff were really friendly and helpful and a table service for drinks was a really good idea as the bar was very busy. We had a really relaxed and enjoyable time and will definitely be booking this for next year as soon as available. Took all the usual hassle out of Christmas Day together with no washing up.

After moving into the area almost two years ago, we often go into The Standard for food and drinks. This has been the second Christmas we have gone as a family for Christmas dinner. The staff there are second to none. We are always made to feel welcome and are very well looked after. The food is beautiful and the atmosphere makes you return again and again. Special thank you to Ben for organising our Christmas dinner with such excellent precision! We absolutely loved our day, Ben. Thanks to Amy for taking care of us & making sure we had everything we needed, and thanks to Katheryn for running the best pub there is in West Derby. We’ll see you all really soon!

Went here today for festive lunch, the food was lovely with an absolutely fabulous cheesecake, staff were lovely and friendly. Drinks a tad expensive but all round was a lo ely visit.

I always come the Royal Standard for Match days and enjoy my experience every time I’m there. The food is outstanding and the staff are lovely.

Visited here on Wednesday for lunch with 3 friends. Enjoyed the seniors menu, great choice and price. Staff although very busy were very polite and helpful. Blonde haired lady, nothing was too much of an ask. We will be back next month and are looking forward to it.

Great family pub, nice decor, excellent food, pleasant staff.

This used to be a nice treat for lunch time but it’s gone downhill massively lately. It’s now full of underaged kids watching loud videos on their phones and other noisy drunks. My brunch was missing sausages, and when it was corrected, the sausages were hardly cooked. I won’t be back any time soon.

First time visit for Sunday Lunch, very disappointed. Menu stated beef served as “pink” whereas when it arrived it was tough and grisly. Personally, I believe that “roast potatoes” are a big part of the Sunday Roast however it was hard to decipher the roast potatoes and the vegetables served, the roast potatoes were that small!! One small potato cut into cubes. Meanwhile, the apple crumble was nice. Wish I would have taken a picture before writing a review!

Watched Wolves vs Liverpool here, it was 'bouncing', very lively and the atmosphere was tremendous. The drinks were cold and went down with ease, the staff were very welcoming inside the very busy establishment. Will definitely go back and try the food again but maybe when it is a bit quieter. Noticed the was a fenced off beer garden attached to the rear, also a car park for about 20 cars to the side.

We didnt have a table booked but the staff made an effort and got us a table at a bust time. Lovely food and came quick

Had a lovely meal with friends here on Tuesday 18/7/23. Very friendly staff Lisa and Ben served us at the bar. Our meals were served by the new deputy manager Steven, he was very friendly. Always good service and value for money. Thank you

Went here with family to celebrate my daughters birthday. We booked the upstairs room free of charge which easily seated 12 of us. Lovely friendly service from Amy at the bar and food was delicious especially the curry. We will definitely be going back again.

We have recently visited Royal Standard, we loved it, and the service and quality you could not fault. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Our visit was a very pleasing, relaxing, one. The staff were so friendly , and even when we finished our food and moved to a padded seating area we still received a brilliant service. It is not surprising that the upstairs area is popular for holding special get togethers. Definitely recommend for good food and good atmosphere.

Paid a flying visit from Hull to a christening in Liverpool. Decided to try for a pub meal in the area before driving back. The meals were amazing, best we've had for a while. Only wish we lived nearer, would make it a weekly treat! Thanks so much to all.

My husband and i visited this pub for the first time today,the food was lovely and of a high standard of produce,the staff are friendly and helpful and attentive.We are definitely going back and will take friends and family. And lots of room on the car park.

Called yesterday evening with a friend, we didn’t have a booking but we were accommodated with no issue. Meal was great, had to ask for steak to be cooked a little more but this was no issue and rectified immediately. Although busy the atmosphere was great. Staff were friendly and very helpful especially the young lady who first sat us. Thanks for another lovely night.

The bar staff where great, the duty manager on shift wasn't the best. She seemed angry. Not welcoming.
