Great place to stop and have a bite to eat. While out in Liverpool.

Great breakfast, nine of us went all enjoyed... very busy but warm and friendly service a gem in Liverpool 👍👍👍

We are regular visitors to Liverpool and everytime we go we now try to fit in a visit to maggie Mays cafe and bar. I do the Guinness tours of Liverpool pubs and need a hearty start to the day with a full English breakfast. We now partake in their famous scouse on most visits. We recommend this cafe to one and all. Scouse is a local meal with history, some just eat it the once for the experience of being back in Liverpool before all this fancy food. It has to be tasted and Maggie Mays is the most authentic scouse we have found so far. We come from a part of Staffordshire where our local equivalent was lobby. I have a 6 ltr pan when made it lasts me a week. Try the scouse and take a step back in time, you never know you maybe asking for the recipe to take home. 5 star rating from us. Great cafe, great owners, great staff. Wholesome food with great clean surroundings. How many greats do you want.

The scouse was horrible. Both bowls had two chuncks of beef between them! Very disappointed. Would not go again!

This is a typical Liverpool home style restaurant. I visited because I wanted to try Scouse and Steak Pie. As it was a Friday evening, it was nice to be able to have a quiet meal in a somewhat quiet atmosphere. They are not fancy or special, but rather rustic dishes. I think it feels like eating at ordinary homes in Liverpool. It was delicious and filling, and I really liked the friendly staff and the natural, unforced feel. If I come to Liverpool again, I will come back here.

First time been there my mum told me about the place she gos every Saturday. I thought the food was excellent and the way they keep the place clean which you want from a cafe 5 stars bee going back again

Nice atmosphere, but the food is so English... If you are Spanish, don't go. The roast chicken was very sad, the hamburger was one of the worst we have eaten in years, the scouse... what can I say! It wasn't bad, a sad potato stew, a lot, with meat, a little. However, the atmosphere with its green tablecloths is very pleasant. Incomprehensible that it is so highly valued. It makes me believe that the opinions on these forums are all false.

Had a bowl of Scouse and crusty bread and tea. Was lovely

Had a great English breakfast & my wife had the vegetarian breakfast - both very tasty, hot and didn't have to wait to long for it to be served. Great service

We were aimlessly walking along the street searching for local fares and chanced upon Maggie May's. The place brings about a sense of nostalgia and alot of locals walk-in to have their brunch. Food was good, service was great and lots of ticks in our boxes.

Visited here on the suggestion of a friend. We wanted somewhere not too loud as we j wanted a chat. This is a proper cafe! Breakfasts and lunches, some mains like scouse. Friends had veggie and vegan breakfasts and enjoyed them. I had cheese toastie and chips. Affordable, nothing fancy. Staff efficient and friendly. We were able to have a good catch up so it was great for us.

Very busy, which is always a good sign and wasn't disappointed. We were seated very quickly, staff although rushed off their feet were really nice and helpful. Food was delicious and reasonably priced

Very busy traditional cafe in central Liverpool. Famous for Scouse but we went for traditional English breakfast. Left very content. Very friendly place.

Great place for breakfast or lunch

Really good place pop in for breakfast we had toast t cakes and pot of tea and coffee then pop in 6 hours later had two bowls of Scouse and two beers spot on really good look like a old fashioned tea room really good service staff friendly nice and clean and same with the toilet definitely be back

Fuimos para probar su scous y, francamente, es decepcionante tanto por la cantidad como por el sabor. Intenta encontrar la carne entre la patata!. La sopa de verdura del día sabe a harina cruda y, si tienes suerte, puedes incluso encontrar algo de zanahoria. He comido mejor en el hospital.

Such a wonderful place! It is so peaceful inside when coming right off of Bold Street. Great menu and food and such a lovely atmosphere. It feels more like a cafe on the countryside, rather than in central Liverpool! It would be great with some more gluten-free options though or at least indication of what is gluten-free and what is not :)

We ate here about an hour before closing, so not many people in there But saying that we received a really friendly reception and our order was dealt with using the same friendly attitude. The food was really good and hot which seems harder to get nowadays. Will definately visit here again

It was quick service and delicious. Some list said Maggoe May's has some of the best Scouse in town, and I don't have anything to compare it too, but it was delicious. All 3 of us ate it all.

This is a lovely, welcoming cafe where you are able to get both drinks and food. They cater for vegetarians and always seem to have soya milk for vegans too

A lovely place to have affordable home-made food. My recommendation: steak pie with gravy and new potatoes. Then, chocolate cake, served warm, with an ice-cream ball. We went while Eurovision week. The first time was so lovely that we went a second time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Totally recommended if you visit Liverpool. 👍🏻

First time here the food was great and the service was very good..will go back again

1st time i have ever been here even though i don't live far from here. The food was perfect plenty of choice, good portions and very well cooked. The staff are friendly and helpful the only reason for the single drop was there needs to be a little more ventilation but because of location ans weather this can be difficult.

Brilliant atmosphere with lovely staff. Portions of Scouse were a bit light but very tasty.

Bog standard fry up at a premium price. Maybe the rest of the menu is better but there are dozens of better places for breakfast in Liverpool.

Lovely full English brecky and with black pudding. Worth every penny. Finally got to visit here again 3/9/21. Still a brilliant, breakfast, gorgeous, and still got a beautiful smile from that lovely lady on the till. She knows who she is, and she still remembered me from before covid. X. 2023, still the best around. Busy inside shows how popular it is. Love visiting here when in town. Staff excellent, till lady still beautiful. X

Maggie May's has been a stop spot for decades and even now the prices are amazing compared to other places. Home cooked food that never disappoints

Very nice food and a nice clean place to take a load off while visiting Liverpool.

I love home like meals don't get me wrong but I found it to be a bit of a weird atmosphere , didn't want the black pudding so I asked to remove it and replace it with something else , I had to pick another thing to replace the black pudding with?meaning I had to remove the mushrooms and black pudding for one other item? Confusing and the bathroom wasnt that hygienic.
