a visit to the rigg and furrow after seeing signs for it a brewery and taproom on a farm with differing food trucks i have to say its a brilliant place home brewed quality beer on tap and cans to take away i had a pint of nut brown and it was spot on tasty bought some to take away along with some oatmeal stout and ipa would absolutely recommend if you like proper beer

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

Clean, smart, tidy daytime cafe with almost all day food. Large portions, be careful you don't over order! Be careful also in that salt is used in cooking maybe a little too much but good taste.

Visited this place again when visiting on our half term family getaway. We always come here every holiday and always greeted warmly. Once we are in the area we will be back again for sure.

Best ice cream ever! Even a play area for the children to let off some steam and lovely staff members who were serving me ice cream!

We visited this pub around 4 years ago on a stay in Alnwick, now we were returning I knew I wanted to go back here! The food is proper home cooked pub food, the steak pie is not to be missed. The service was so friendly, they were so good with our little boy who enjoyed his sausage & potatoes from the children’s menu! Can’t wait to come back

Visited this place a few months ago to meet up with friends and liked it so much have made a return visit with some different friends! There is lots of choice in the food, it is very reasonably priced, and the style of the place is welcoming and inviting. Very pleasant staff. Half the premises have antiques, curios, and other delightful items for sale so well worth a browse and a purchase.

I will start with an overview of our group purely because I would like the staff/management & any other diners there on the day to remember us. A group of 19 old Harley Davidson riding friends visited The Niblick on July 7th. Our average age is over 60 and we have been friends for several decades. We had travelled for our annual meetup & a ride around beautiful Northumberland and we had booked here for Sunday lunch. The food and service was fine and no complaints there. However it all went wrong when it came to taking payment. Because we are all such old friends, we just divided the bill between us all and it came to £18 per person/£36 per couple. Most restaurants would have walked down the table with a card machine & took all necessary payments and kept track of everything, however they insisted that we all go up one by one to pay, which we did. One couple paid cash which caused a little confusion to the lady taking payments, because she had initially assumed it was going to be a card payment and she had to cancel the transaction and start again. Once everyone had paid the waitress said there was an underpayment of exactually £36. We all knew that this was not possible and that we had all paid our money & had proof on our banking apps and we had witnessed the cash being paid. We asked her to check the till, but she said this was not possible and it could not be done until the evening. Because we are not the sort of group that like a fuss or commotion one of us agreed to pay the extra £36 and the restaurant assured us that they would ring us the next day and arrange us a refund. They never rang us. After a week we had still not heard anything, so we wrote to the manager of the restaurant asking for an explanation and our refund. We again heard nothing. Hence my review. Dear Manager, did your staff pocket the extra £36 (as well as the £40 tip) that day or did you just get to keep it yourself? To future group booking customers, please keep a track of your payments because the restaurant/management clearly cannot!

Called in for a takeaway as we had the dog and due to the small size of the cafe they don’t let dogs in. But despite this the food was lovely, quickly prepared and reasonably priced.

Just been on a 241 Wednesday offer. They don't have vegetarian menu but was informed they could adjust menu for me. Opted for garlic mushrooms and chips and my partner had steak pie. We waited for over an hour for our food, staff were pleasant enough. When we paid our bill we didn't get the 241 which I was led to believe we would get due to being no vegetarian option. PLEASE BEWARE for future. FOLLOWING REPLY. I AM AWARE WHAT 241 IS BUT NO WHERE ON THE MENU WE WERE GIVEN DID IT SAY 241 BUT IT US ADVERTISED ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT WEDNESDAYS AND 241. YOU DO NOT PROVIDE A VEGETARIAN MENU BUT YOU ADVERTISE AS VEGAN FRIENDLY WHICH YOU ARE NOT. YOUR STAFF STATED YOJ COULD ACCOMMODATE MY STARTER ORDER AND SIDE AS A MAIN BUT THIS WAS NOT REFLECTED IN BILL. THE FACT THAT WE WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR WAS ALSO AN ISSUE. ACCEPT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND IMPROVE YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS. IT SEEMS TO BE A BIT OF A PATTERN WHEN YOU'RE ESTABLISHMENT IS GIVEN A BAD REVIEW YOU INSULT AND DEMISE. SMACKS OF CHILDISH BEHAVIOUR AND SEEMS YOU ARE A KEYBOARD WORRIER. AS STATED ABOVE I DID SPEAK TO YOUR STAFF AND I WAS INFORMED YOU DONT DO VEGETARIAN FOOD. WHERE YOU CLEARLY ADVISE YOU DO. ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY 🤣

So.. we are newly local and have visited here a few times, the previous time just before Xmas and at the time I gave it a favourable review and I totally appreciate the time of year I'm posting this now when business is quiet but... What a complete difference, the place is lovely but the member of bar staff tonight (23rd Feb) was incredibly miserable and unwelcoming. No effort to welcome us or converse as we selected our drinks, pulled an incredibly poor pint (I'm a Camra member and to be fair this pub in general has the worst hand pulled beer in the area) and when we left totally ignored us as we said goodnight. The place was nowhere near busy (2 to 3 others in) so she couldn't miss us leaving. Considering the two pubs around the corner are so welcoming and sociable I'm not surprised this place was so quiet.

We haven't been to The Jackdaw because our booking for April 2025 isn't being honoured we found out this morning. See below. In December 2024 we booked our meal for a Saturday night in April 2025 at The Jackdaw. It was for my 70th birthday and we chose The Jackdaw as we'd eaten there before and had lovely meals. Today I received a call from Gillian, one of the owners, to say that they had a large party that night and so they couldn't accommodate us at the time we booked.Gillian asked if we could either go the night before or for Sunday lunch. We were travelling up to Warkworth on the Friday and didn't want to rush our journey and we may well eat out on the journey up. We had other plans for the Sunday so I said no to these options. I was amazed that we were being told they wouldn't honour our booking as we had clearly booked our meal before this large party. Gillian said she would ring me back. Rupert, the other owner, called back and explained about moving furniture around for the large party and how it was for someone who'd had their 50th birthday there and now wanted their 70th birthday there. He said couldn't we eat later as they served until 9 o'clock. I was astonished at this to be honest. We didn't want to eat later than the time we booked, and possibly be on our own at that time of night in the restaurant. Rupert did apologise but that doesn't make up for the fact they haven't honoured our booking. I am left feeling really disappointed and upset. This is not what I would have expected having booked the table in December. Terrible customer service in my view.
