Nestled in the heart of Warkworth, this shop is a haven for all chocolate enthusiasts. I discovered this place whilst on holiday in the area last year. I drove to Northumbria and headed straight to Cabosse! I was warmly welcomed by the owner who radiates warmth and kindness. There is a selection of handmade chocolates and gifts suitable for all occasions. Don’t forget to visit the rear of the shop too! The star of the show for me is the hot chocolate. I declared it the ‘best in the world’ last year and can confirm the quality is still exceptional. My taste buds danced with joy whilst sipping the thick comforting drink. I’ve been here three days and have been in daily. If I lived here, I’d officially be an addict of Cabosse hot chocolate. Do not miss this place if you’re ever in the area. Dog friendly too.

Very cute little shop, super friendly lady running it. I was told to go here for hot chocolate by a friend who claimed it was the best in the world. I can confirm this is true! First taste is very sweet, but then a hit of intense chocolate flavour. I thought the cups looked small, but the richness means they’re perfect. Definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting the town or the castle.

Visited about 8 years ago and always remembered the chocolates which were fabulous. When revisiting Warkworth few days ago this was the first place we visited. What a disappointment! Only 3 or 4 flavours of chocolates, not the dozens we could choose from previously. We bought a selection but frankly they all tasted the same and one would be hard pressed telling which was which. Don't bother - go to Hotel Chocolate, their chocolates are far superior! Won't go there again, very sad.

The best coffee and hot chocolate for miles. Illy coffee, which, in my view, takes some beating. Hand made chocolates have been the main stay for years and are as good as ever. A little gem…

WOW. My wife and I had multiple chocogasms (if that wasn’t a word, it is now!) having had the best hot chocolate we’ve ever had. It was no ordinary hot chocolate...it was purely molten chocolate in a mug and beautiful presented. Clean, well presented, cosy establishment with friendly staff. Will most certainly be back!

A wonderful visit. Staff couldn't be more accommodating and the chocolate and patisserie was amazing - so good we also left with a carrier bag of even more items to eat later. The attention to detail was excellent which isn't surprising since apparently the proprietor is a master chocolatière-pâtissière having worked for Rick Stein and Betty’s of Harrogate as well as graduating from the L’Ecole Cordon Bleu in Paris and working with various master artisanal chocolatiers in France. A wonderful addition to the Warkworth eateries!!

Small but very cosy coffee/chocolate cafe. I had a really good ice cream with real chocolate sauce and my husband had the most amazing flake hot chocolate which was beautifully presented on a tray with extra hot milk and cream and flakes in a bowl. Lovely small shop too with hand made chocolates. Great personal service.

Warm welcome from Michelle and Louise, who'd been kind enough to reserve a table for us. The need to socially distance was marginally met even with only 3 tables in back room. If you're trying to strictly adhere to 2 metres you may have doubts. Deliciod hot chocolate, and tea flavoured with vanilla and chocolate. Small Danish was good. The Chocolate and Almond pastry was almost too much. Very large, quite soft, not really like a flaky croissant-type of pastry. In my opinion, the combination of Almond and Chocolate was too much of a good thing and the flavours conflicted. But we had a lovely time and would go back if we were in the area again. We didn't buy anything in the shop so can't comment.

After visiting Alnmouth beach, kids wanted an ice cream; we drove into Warkworth and came across Cabosse - must admit doesn’t look anything special from the outside but the chocolate, cakes and patisseries on display looked amazing. We opted for ice creams and sorbets to takeaway along with a small pack of dice/letter pralines - well worth a visit!

What a fantastic place! We were able to book the seating area to the rear. Owing to social distancing measures, this was restricted just to our party. This actually enhanced the experience as we got the full benefit of excellent service from a team who clearly value their artisan hand crafted food, which can only be described as amazing. This is a real delight to anyone with a sweet tooth (or two). The hot chocolates in particular are of real merit, I could still taste it sometime after finishing it!Thoroughly recommended!

We always try to call into Cabosse if we’re near Warkworth but for a variety of reasons hadn’t managed to visit since Sept the previous year. Since we’d last been they’ve had a refit and the place looks even better than before. The signature hot chocolate is still wonderful and the proprietor Louise one of the nicest people you could meet. Obviously our visit predated the Coronavirus lockdown and I really hope that they come through the other side as small local businesses like Cabosse which offer something unique are to be cherished.

Cabosse has always been a lovely place to visit. It has just got better in my opinion with a very sympathetic makeover applied to the interior. The chocolate, handmade, by a trained chocolatier on the premises, is still as good as ever, in my opinion. Handmade pastries, in particular the choux pastries are quite sublime.A delightful tea room at the rear adds to the experience. The service is knowledgeable and attentive. We have been visiting Cabosse for many years to taste and take away many of the delicious foodstuffs on offer.Croissants in a morning, homemade filled croissants for lunch sometimes too. The chocolates made by the proprietor are divine, in my opinion. Such a huge selection as well. Due to the season we had Vin Chaud, it tasted better than any we have had in France. Great little place, found it by chance. My wife and I were visiting Warkworth and came across this fantastic little chocolate /patisserie shop. My wife and children had visited Cabosse several times on previous holidays and always sang its praises. This was my first visit. It's a small, cosy establishment on the main road of the town, in the shadow of the castle. It is comprised of the shop and counter to the front, with a small seating area, with another small seating area in a rear room. The staff were vet friendly and attentive and we were swiftly seated in the back room. On this occasion we only had hot chocolate and an almond croissant, though the rest of the menu does look tempting! The hot chocolate, put simply, is wonderful. With or without the generous serving of cream and marshmallows, it has gone to be one of the best I have tasted. Both my children would contest that it is the best hot chocolate in the world! If you are in the area, this little gem is certainly well worth a visit!

We went for morning coffee and it was discovered that they do an espresso chocolate. This is perfect if a whole mug is too much and the quality of chocolate used means that it is very, very rich. I was advised by my companions that none of it had any calories at all so that's a bonus. The chocolates and cakes they sell in the shop are also splendid and it would be churlish not to take some "presents" for whichever fictional maiden aunt you can invent. If you go to Warkworth do not pass this place by.

Saw this on Trip Advisor when looking for a coffee shop before visiting Warkworth Castle. Easy to find on the main road through Warkworth. Parking nearby though busy there is a "proper" car park by the river a bit further down past the Church. It really is a superb chocolate heaven gem and my daughter is a connoisseur on hot chocolate. Coffee is also available and deliciously presented chocolate delights. Excellent for that special gift of chocs or treating yourself to luxury. This place is quite small for seating so may be full at holiday times.

Such a shame because the coffee and cakes were delicious but the atmosphere and how we were made to feel totally over shadowed that... I went in with my 3 children one being my 12 year old boy who wears north face and tracker pants with his nike air max trainers and my other 2 children being 8 year old twins and they are very well behaved children and me wearing a big teddy bear coat and converse just normal dressed people in my eyes... my 12 needed the loo so I said they are down in the corridor then I was told by the waitress I would have to take my 12 yr old to the toilet then out of pure shock i said to her me?? And the look of horror on my sons face that he needed his mam to take him to the toilet so when I got up to take him I was told it was incase he broke something (you don’t go to what looked like a nice place for a hot drink to be pre accused) my reply was he is very well behaved and wouldn’t break anything....,all I can assume is that because my son dresses like every other pre teen( normal) than they are clearly labelled as vandals and go around breaking things... never have I ever been somewhere and told I would have to take my 12 year old or 8year olds to the toilet because they might break something and been made to feel like we just don’t belong there....I won’t be back

We had cream and marshmallows. What was disappointing was that fact that there were wasps in the lounge area (not just one). I pointed this out and was told by the manager that it was normal and none thing they could do about it. Wasps are hazards and pests. The wasps were in the shop and the lounge. I am sorry but as much as I enjoyed the hot chocolate I could not relax with wasps in the room. I was upset and disappointed with the manager tone and explanation.

Our first impressions were a little strange as the front shop was full but the room to the rear was empty. We probably upset some etiquette by sitting down and the waitress seemed slightly surprised that we should have been there. However it was noon and we were hungry. We were offered the menu and we ordered a filled croissant and a filled sandwich. We also asked for coffee which was bubbling away in the corner. The coffee was served but then the waitress disappeared to be replaced by the lady from the front shop who served our food. The coffee was wonderful and the food was quite delicious and well worth what we paid. We never saw the waitress again but there was much chopping going on in a room marked 'Staff only' to the rear. The shop does provide items for weddings and events and I suspect that something like this was being prepared!! I would award excellent normally, certainly for the food and coffee but the service was just all a bit strange.

Was visiting Warkworth for the first time and needed a coffee break. What a gem of a find. Staff very friendly. Very clean and tidy. Had already eaten so only ordered a coffee. Very good coffee....had a refill and it only cost £2. Lovely well kept little garden out back to look at. Food looked fresh and delicious. I would certainly go back to this little gem.

This is probably the best hot chocolate on the planet. The ham rolls in lovely focaccia bread were also a real highlight.

This is a patisserie, chocolate shop & tea room. I had the Cabosse cafe gourmand (£5.60) which consisted of a pot of tea, a mini Danish pastry, a fresh cream petit four and a handmade chocolate. My husband had a coffee (£?) and a creme brûlée (£3.95). All was well presented and satisfied the sugar craving! The staff were polite and helpful. We also bought a box of the handmade chocolates (8 for around £11) which we are currently savouring!

You might not realise there is a Tony, delightful cafe behind the cake cabinet. Extremely high quality, delicious and addictive. Very good hot drinking chocolate, rum baba, pastries, creme caramel and beautiful petit four. A bit of a treat. Very unusual ice cream flavours. Nice gifts - if you like chocolate (I do). Exceedingly friendly staff

First of all this is not your average tea shop and prices are quite high - however, quality of the sandwiches, quiches and croissants are excellent. Coupled with the artisan chocolates (very pricey) and delicious ice cream this is a cut above the average for Warkworth.

Lovely wee coffee shop in which we had the best quiche ever! The emphasis here is on chocolate in all its forms but there are also light snacks available.

We found this wonderful restaurant last year while on holiday in the area. We booked for this year as well. It's one of the best Indian meals we've ever had. Great flavours , friendly service. We'll be back next year.

It is very nice in this day and age to find a restaurant serving top quality food and serving it like a restaurant should. Too often these days a restaurant experience is like street food wagons. This is refined food served nicely. Our meal was superb from start to finish, classic french dishes just done better, everything was quality, tasty, nicely presented and decent value. Wine menu was good, we didn't try the house wine but I'm sure it would be decent and unfortunately we were just a bit too early for the Beaujolais being released in November. Must remember for next year to come after the 21st. Service was very good, wine poured properly, real napkins, table dressed nicely, clean and decorated well. Atmosphere was just right. Btw, steak tartare was perfect. Thank you all. I aim to return soon.
