Small traditional pub. Friendly staff and a great homely atmosphere. Food and service first class. Great surroundings to explore in the sluice when visiting the Kings Arms. Great on a sunny day with outdoor seating to enjoy a few drinks with friends and family.

This is a traditional cosy pub. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is that of a good local and the locals do eat and drink here which is always a good sign. We had the fish and chips, all arrived quickly, was piping hot, and cooked to perfection. Staff were happy and helpful. Will definitely go again and felt it was good value for money. Two double g and it's, two fish and chips (one large) and all for £36. Well worth it.

Excellent home cooked food, we had the fish & chips, kings burger and hot beef baguette with chips. We also had the kids chicken bites. Portion size is great and tasted amazing. Service was fantastic, initially we had to sit outside as all inside tables were full. The bar person then came out to inform us of a free table. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Very busy pub so booking at any time is recommended. Thankfully we knew to order the small fish (& chips) as the standard was whale sized. The general hubbub was quite loud for senior ears as was the low light levels (till I used my phone torch !) but the choice of background music was very pleasing and non distracting. So, overall, good food, quite noisy and booking necessary. Oh yes....and brilliant location overlooking the crashing waves.

We visited here out of chance as we were in the area and we’re very pleased we did. We were a group of six, 2 young children both under 4 and my father in law is a wheelchair user, so it’s safe to say we weren’t exactly the easiest table of 6 to cater for. We were immediately greeted at the door with a friendly welcome and shown straight to a table. The menu has great variety including children’s options. The food itself was lovely and very clearly freshly made. The portion sizes are very generous and to my embarrassment I couldn’t finish my food. All of the staff we spoke to were very friendly and welcoming to us. Even the local customers treat us with a smile and a hello. We usually visit another local venue when we’re in the area, but this will be our go to place from now on. The only bizarre thing is that the previous reviewer gave this place a 1/5?! So whoever you are ‘Jo G’ I’d love to have a pint of whatever you’ve had. You must’ve reviewed the wrong place! To the staff and management - thank you for being so accommodating. You’ve gained a few new customers today.

When I'm over on the north east i do pop in here for Dinner. I was in today, and should really have booked a table as its sunday and an England world cup final day so everybody came out early for dinner before heading home or elsewhere for the match (they don't have screens but i find that a good thing), Its a traditional pub, on the sea front, its got parking too. They were very busy today but still managed to find me a table after a short wait. The staff are always welcoming & friendly & the food is good food and reasonably priced. I have tried other pubs in the area but have came back to the kings arms. People often follow this up with a walk in the area on the sea front or to follow the path over to st marys lighthouse which is about 1.5 miles away (currently closed for renovation july 2024) but its am area you can watch the seals on the rocks or climb the spiral staircase up lighthouse.

Visited this pub twice in a couple of days as food was so good. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the menu is plentiful and great value. Top class food , spoilt by the service from one particular person , the food was first rate and very tasty, asked if we would like the dessert menu , waited and waited for the stocky dark haired to take our order but she was busy eating her bag of crisps , my wife asked another member of staff to take our order but unfortunately there was know cheesecake available, maybe if we were informed when we got the dessert menu from the previous member of staff we may have ordered something else but considering the wait we had already we decided to leave , pity but up till then it was so perfect from the young lad who served our beer and brought our food , spoilt by one person who was just too busy with her crisps

We called into the King’s Arms as a party of four for the first time on Saturday afternoon, having spent the morning at Seaton Delaval Hall. I had done my homework beforehand in terms of finding somewhere suitable for lunch, as one of our party had gluten free requirements and the King’s Arms seemed to fit the bill, with the menu clearly visible on their website. Despite good weather and the place being busy, we got parked close by and also got a table for four with no problems (much to my relief!), though this might have been thanks to the many people who were eating and drinking outside. We ordered a main course each and a round of drinks: 3 x regular Fish and Chips (one being gluten free) and one Liver and Bacon. The staff were friendly and efficient and it wasn’t long before we were tucking in to our meals which we all agreed were excellent; no complaints at all! Surprisingly, my wife could not manage a dessert despite the tempting offerings on the pub’s blackboards. A very enjoyable visit which we hope to repeat soon!

It is very nice in this day and age to find a restaurant serving top quality food and serving it like a restaurant should. Too often these days a restaurant experience is like street food wagons. This is refined food served nicely. Our meal was superb from start to finish, classic french dishes just done better, everything was quality, tasty, nicely presented and decent value. Wine menu was good, we didn't try the house wine but I'm sure it would be decent and unfortunately we were just a bit too early for the Beaujolais being released in November. Must remember for next year to come after the 21st. Service was very good, wine poured properly, real napkins, table dressed nicely, clean and decorated well. Atmosphere was just right. Btw, steak tartare was perfect. Thank you all. I aim to return soon.
