Really impressed, visited today with two friends, what was meant to be for a coffee, decided to go for full breakfast and bacon butties, all served piping hot by friendly staff. Extremely good value for the full breakfast. Slices of cake that others were being served look like very generous portions. Take away prices looked good too.

I live a mile from this cafe and have often wondered when I drive by or buy petrol what it is like inside. Well now I know. The woman (owner I imagine) was abrupt from the moment we sat down. Sadly I had to ask for a fresh cup for my tea. I made the mistake of milk first. I had to ask for the tea to be emptied from my cup the tea was so weak it looked like a pale white coffee. I could not drink it. I asked for no peppers in my salad, I cannot tolerate them. They did ask was it an allergy. I queried the cheese, for my jacket potato I don't like the orange cheese so popular in the NE. So to be safe I opted for butter. The potato was that lovely plain pale colour you get when you microwave it and hence no real texture. My friend did not enjoy her coronation chicken filling either or her coffee. As my first cuppa was thrown away i needed more hot water for a second cuppa. This seemed to be an effort. The staff consisted of two people a man who was not waiter trained and the woman, he was amenable but she seemed disgruntled with us. Maybe we made the mistake of walking in and sitting down straight away!! a JKT spud is £6.75 regardless of filling of which there are several but i think that's a bit rich for 4 small squares of butter. When I paid I asked if it was £6.75 for spud with butter. the reply was ' all spuds are £6.75, we have one button on the till and that's what we use'. By the till a big sign reads no Scottish bank notes accepted due to forgeries!! The decor was too twee for my taste, I though the knitted tea cosy a bit OTT as well as the little knitted socks on the bottom of the chair legs. overall no atmosphere no ambiance not a single smile or cheery word. But there are a massive amount of collectibles/knick knacks which you may like.

We had a lovely bacon and egg roll with tea for two. There was a tablecloth on the table and we had a big pot of tea with a cosy and china tea cups. It might be old school but it doesn't stop it being right. Everything was just as you would want it. We will try the home made scones next time because they looked very good. The great thing is you can go shopping after your food in the antique and gift shop. I succumbed to one of the hand made tea cosies. It is also family run with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

We visited Circa twice during our family holiday and both times the experience was super! The staff are so accommodating and friendly and made myself, husband, daughter, son in law and 4 Grandchildren feel so welcome and comfortable. The cafe is bright and welcoming and the menu choice is varied and reasonably priced. The staff are so lovely! They couldn't do enough to make our visit special and one lovely girl brought our little dachshund Bertie, a dish of treats - she was so friendly and attentive - I wish we had got her name - (she is young with a wavy pony tail)! We enjoyed rummaging through the superb array of crafts and collectibles - and all superbly priced - we enjoyed our two visits immensely and will look forward to our next one! 👍☺️👍

I’ve been to this cafe a few times and enjoyed the food. However, will not be returning. This time the food I ordered was unsatisfactory. After politely bringing it to their attention, and who should have realised that it wasn’t fit to serve, the staff member replaced the meal. We were then completely ignored the rest of the time. It was so obvious! And so rude and totally unnecessary. Not a pleasant experience and one I won’t be repeating.

I’m disappointed. The last two times I’ve visited Circa cafe I ordered a cream tea and the scone was dry on both occasions. The clotted cream didn’t look fresh either. On my second visit the tea was not hot. No point using bone China and a tea cozy if the water hasn’t boiled. This second time I ate the scone but asked for hotter tea and overheard one of the staff in the kitchen saying it had “just boiled”. A fresh pot of tea was made and the kitchen lady came out to inform me that they’d used the kettle this time as opposed to the urn. There was no apology for serving lukewarm tea and the comment made by the staff caused me to feel uncomfortable. Is hot tea too much to ask for in a cafe?On a more positive note the gentleman who took my order was polite and attentive.

Dropped in here after walking on Warkworth beach. Despite the note on the door saying it closed at 4 (it was about 20 to), we were warmly welcomed and sat chatting til well after 4 with no indication from the team there that perhaps we should think of moving. Cream scones were lovely, my sister enjoyed her cheese one and drinks were fine. Surprised at the dog friendly sign, given how clean it was and the lovely white table clothes, and sis did leave her two in the car given the state they were in. Overall very pleasant experience and liked the combination of shop and cafe. Much bigger than it looks from the road and it does have its own car park.

It was the last day of our week in Northumberland and the weather had turned so we looked for something to do other than head off walking which is our typical holiday outing. My wife had found Circa, and as we both like an antique/vintage establishment and enjoy an afternoon tea we headed 45 minutes down the coast. So firstly the positives, we had afternoon tea in the lovely Daisy caravan, they have a couple of old decked out caravans on offer to dine in, and at only £3 per person extra it was a great experience and worth the small extra amount. Plus the young girl who served us was really nice and helpful. And I wouldn't say there were any negatives, just a couple of areas that were average in my opinion. The shop didn't have that much of interest, just a few antique items and some new stuff made by local people, but nothing out of the ordinary. And the food was ok, but nothing special. We had Afternoon Tea, but it was nothing that you can't get elsewhere. Not bad, just not great.Overall it was nice to go there and if in Amble we might go again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

There were two portable gas fires, one at each end, and were on one bar only. Happened before, and we walked out. I was also reminded today this used to be a car garage!!.... well, come on guys.... changed ownership and still very cold in there. Might be back when the weather gets warmer!

She also had a cappunchino and my wife and I had 1 tea and 1 coffee. We were served by a very pleasant young man who also broght my mother some water over when asked. My beloved wife and I have driven past this little place, just outside of Amble, on many an occasion but have never popped in before. Today, we decided to stop and have a quick cuppa and see what else was on offer. Little did we know that it would be one of the best 'Pit Stops' that we've ever had! Gorgeous little cafe tagged onto a petrol station would you believe but the place was IMMACULATE! All we wanted was a nice cuppa and a 'nibble'! We ordered coffee and two toasted sandwiches, one just plain and the other with an accompanying salad for my wife. Five minutes later they were delivered to our table and they were magnificent! Gorgeous flavours and cooked to absolute perfection. My dear wife said the salad dressing on her plate was the BEST she'd ever had and that's saying something as it's one of her favourite accompaniments if truth be told. Yeah, OK I hear you say, it's only a 'Toastie' for goodness sake but believe me, they were superb! Great service on an impeccably clean table, all served with a cheeky smile but with a genuine love of serving people delicious, tasty food. If only more places would adopt this ethos! Two cuppa's later and so happy we'd stopped off there, we paid the bill and it was oh so reasonable! If you're ever passing by and wish to pop in for some food then I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Absolute top marks to the two lovely young ladies who looked after us. You are a credit to the place and no mistake. Lovely genuine girls who take a pride in their 'craft'. Looking after your customers is obviously your top priority and you both did it effortlessly in our humble opinion. We shall definitely return as we often travel that route up our coast. Ten out of ten and no mistake. If I could award higher, I would! xx

We visited on Friday lunchtime on recommendation from my Mum. We had originally only popped in to look at the antiques and collectaes on sale but decided to stop for lunch and we are really glad that we did!We sat in the enclosed garden to the rear. Really tranquil and hard to believe that you are only sitting metres from a petrol station! They have two vintage caravans and a garden room which you can book for afternoon tea. We didn't do this but it would be a lovely birthday/celebration treat. What a fantastic idea to put the old caravans to use. We had two paninis, two (huge) pots of tea and two cakes. Our bill came to just short of £20. Portion sizes were very generous and we felt that the price was very reasonable. Cakes were delicious and the pot of tea, complete with knitted tea cosy, easily have us 6 china cups! The staff were extremely friendly and the service was good. We had a look round the the shop and bought a few bits then headed on our way. We are really pleased that we stopped and we'll definitely visit again next time we are in Amble. Don't let the petrol station frontage put you off, this place is great and a far cry from a service stop!

I regularly go to Circa for either their delicious home made cakes and a lovely cup of tea served in China cups or for a light lunch of soup or a paninni. I can then spend another hour browsing the stalls of all different items from Vintage clothing to pottery, bags, furniture too many things to mention. If its a lovely day you can sit or take tea in the vintage caravans in the garden. All in all a great place to visit and lots of parking

Booked afternoon tea here for 7 of us. What a pleasure it was. Beautiful China cups, saucers and plates, pretty patterns. Old fashioned tea cosies on the tea pots, you can buy them for £18. We had a selection of sandwiches, crusts cut off and filled very well. Followed by a choice of scone, with butter, cream and jam and a huge slice of cake. Lots of different sorts, I had the tuna mayo sandwich, date and walnut scone and coffee and walnut cake, all beautifully presented on old fashioned cake stands. Staff very nice, lovely surroundings, vintage shop at the side and back was a great touch. Lots of people buying things. Well worth a visit, wanted to do this for ages, so pleased we all did. Very enjoyable afternoon. £10 each or 2 for £19-50 will be back again later on this year with my daughter.

We have been here several times, the vintage feel of the cafe is welcoming, tables are laid with clean white cloths and vintage crockery. The food is good for a small cafe, all home made and served with a smile! The staff are happy to adapt items to your taste.

We were staying near Amble on holiday and noticed this cafe in a rather strange location beside a petrol station. We were rather drawn to it because of the beautiful way it was presented with white table cloths and china cups and saucers and it had a real traditional/vintage look to it. On our last day we finally got around to visiting and so pleased we did. We had intended just popping in for a quick tea/coffee but ended up having afternoon tea in one of the vintage caravans at the rear of the shop. Beautifully made sandwiches (without crusts of course!!), scones, cake and enough tea to last all afternoon and all in a caravan for just the 2 of us. Very well presented and delicious food and loved the knitted mermaid teapot cover! There are 2 caravans and a beach hut all of which can be booked ahead, really unusual and quirky. Attached is a shop selling antiques, collectables, crafts etc which is lovely to browse around. A lovely afternoon and will definitely visit again when in the area.

We called in as we are up in northumberland on holiday and it looked an interesting place and the kerb appeal with tables set with lovely china looked lovely. We had a cappucino and a hot chocolate which were tepid , and a rarebit which I can say looked the part when it arrived served with a lovely bowl of salad, The rarebit can only be described as chewy, my husband had a pannini which he said was passable but nothing special, So dissapointed to say the least, but the actual antique shop and gallery is very pretty and worth a look around.

The Americano was wonderfully smooth and creamy and there is a great selection of cake to go with it. It adjoins the petrol station so a great resting point to refuel yourself and the car.Home made soup looked delicious (but didn't try it so will next visit)There is a 'Collectables and Antiques' section to browse around to pass a bit of time as well and plenty of parking space

A hidden gem of a cafe, with good food at reasonable prices and the option to have afternoon tea in a vintage caravan. It's easy to find and accessible. Good stop for a cuppa after a bracing walk at Druridge Bay

Very quaint with little China tea cups and saucers. Funny location but you can't hear the passing cars from the inside. Smiley staff. Great paninis and gorgeous white hot chocolate! Under toasted crumpets for a relative but all other food was great.Antiques a little over priced but the craft stands and other items; jewellery, cards and other small items very competitively priced. Nice little place for a wander and a cuppa.

We only stopped for drinks but the homemade food looked lovely and the place is charming, with interesting Bric-à-brac to rifle through too. Worth a stop.

I love this cafe and never miss a chance to call when I'm in Amble. The combination of cakes to die for, gorgeous original craft work to buy and friendly staff is a winning combination. The lunches are great too! There's always interesting displays of work by local artists and the food is beautifully served on bone china, a bit like stepping back in time!

This former car showroom is an unlikely venue for a tea shop, but it works very well. Surrounded by bric-a-brac and antiques you can eat large slices of beautiful home made cake whilst sipping you tea out of real china tea cups.

Visited Circa after seeing an advert in a visitor guide. The staff kindly let us take our little dog into the outdoor eating area which was appreciated. Our food order was taken and the food arrived quickly and nicely served. A gentleman even got us some cushions to sit on at the picnic table. After our delicious lunch we treat ourselves to home made cakes which were devine. We had a look round the shop itself which had lots of lovely things. Highly recommended to all.

We stopped mid afternoon for tea and cake on our way home. Lovely home made cakes, china teacups, wonderful funny tea cosy and quick service. Not cheap though - £2.50 a slice for cake soon bumps your bill up. Interesting memorabilia, local crafts and antiques on sale so lots to browse at on your way out. Worth a look...

I've visited this venue several times recently and can recommend the coffee, tea and cakes. Lovely, clean tablecloths, china cups and quirky tea cosies all add up to make this a lovely experience. For those who want something special 70's caravans are available to eat in and time can be spent wandering around the interesting items available to buy. Hand-made cards, jewellery and vintage goods to name a few.

I stumbled upon this great place, had a great time rummaging through the various items on display, had great hearty helping of food, followed by free top up of coffee whilst I browsed the outside garden area and caravans, and beach hut. I shall be calling in again soon, wonderfully friendly staff.

Circa is a really amazing place. It is the best of two worlds: antiques, collectables, and local handicrafts which can be browsed before you sit down and enjoy the delicious light lunches, and the amazing cakes made by Emma; try her gluten free Lemon Drizzle, made with potato, delicious!. Or you can sit and just relax over a pot of tea served at tables with white starched tablecloths and proper china, and colourful tea cosies (made locally of course) or a coffee. The atmosphere is great, and the staff are so welcoming and friendly; nothing is too much trouble for them. It really is a 5* venue. Love it!!!

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.

We visited Hexham yesterday and found this café in the Market Place, after a lovely River Tyne walk. It was quite busy at 1pm but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The girls made us feel very welcome and worked so hard while we were there clearing tables and getting everyone seated as soon as possible. My husband had a bacon sarnie and I had a ham and mushroom omelette which was so light and fluffy, delicious. Coffees were great too. Plenty of choice on the menu and great prices. Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.
