Went for dinner tonight and the food was fantastic - but what really stood out was the attitude of the staff. They were very pleasant to us as you'd expect on arrival, but the way they dealt with another group of guests was what really impressed us. The party were drunk, awkward, attempting to order items not on the menu, being ill in the toilets...the two young men serving were consistently polite and patient with them. Customer service is hard enough at the best of times, but they were wonderful in a difficult situation.

As always, great food really well prepared and presented. Delivered on time, hot and by a really nice guy. This is definitely our “go to” place.

what we had was very good but they did seem to have very limited choice of sandwiches and only slightly better choice a pasties

The staff were super lovely and the food came quickly, but the only vegan breakfast was beans on toast without butter, which we paid £6 for.

Stress free dining… Food was great, hot & not waiting long for meals… And the lee was amazing there make us comfortable and satisfied too🫶

I have been a regular visitor here for a number of years, staying at the Premier Inn next door. Service has never been good in the evening but it was dreadful on my recent visit. I just wanted a drink to start and had to wait what seemed like forever in a long queue of people ordering complex meals. Surely they should have someone serving just drinks. Then I had to repeat the queue process to order a meal. I spent more time standing there than sitting enjoying things. My table was covered with dirty glasses and cutlery from whoever had been there before and when my meal was delivered to me the waitress just left it there!!

Good to see this Sam Smith's pub has reopened and not been spoilt. Its been refurbished but not been turned into one of those soulless open planned pubs that are becoming more common. Good beer and lager. Ample free parking and beer garden,Shame dogs aren't allowed inside.

What an absolute fabulous team we are so thankful for there help and care.we were stranded at the services following an engine fire to our car 25/3 on a trip up to Northumberland.We had been left at the services with the contents of our fully loaded car including our family pet Hugo a GSP. We had previously enquired if we could leave our luggage etc at the hotel on-site who had to decline in a friendly manner.We were in the entrance with our luggage when a member of the Costa team came to our rescue and brought us inside to a section that they had cornered off and even gave Hugo a treat after helping us in with the contents of our car.Big shout out to you all at Costa Durham services. We were then rescued by family and was able to have a fabulous holiday in Northumberland after such a stressful time.THANKYOU 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍

We attended a funeral today, and we had the wake at the gate. Martyna and James were so empathetic to the circumstances, they could not do more for us they were respectful all the way through, we cannot thank them enough. The buffet was great and the service fantastic. Would definitely recommend for any occasion.
