Great value for money. Staff are very friendly..

Food was as expected, my little boys sausage was a bit overcooked but still edible. Service was excellent though, staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, particularly Jon.

We love quiz night at the Grange, Fitzy and the staff always create a welcoming atmosphere. A special shout out has to go to Jon...I don't think he's been working there to long but he was friendly, professional and seemed to be working his socks off. The new menu seems quite good, however my on going bugbear with the Newton Grange is Sunday lunch. I'm sure if they got a proper carvery in there instead of the packeted meat they serve Newton Hall residents would flock there...... Apart from that it's a great pub with excellent community spirit.

Had a good meal today. The staff were friendly, and we even had a laugh. I ordered the Cowboy Burger, and the meat was cooked perfectly. Including the bacon, which was the best I've had. One thing stood out to me, and I made a mental note to include it in my review: Before we ordered our food, the person at the till asked us about any allergies. That was where the laugh originated, as I mentioned my hay-fever and cat allergies, and I was assured there was no hay or cats in the food. Joking aside, for those with food allergies this is a huge positive and made me want to do this review. So well done for doing this. I've never been asked about allergies before, and other places serving food really should. People who know their allergies may not know all the ingredients used in their food, so this is commendable and shows they care about their customers. Here is a sixth star ⭐ for the service because, even though I had no food allergies, I am aware how serious that can be. As for the atmosphere, it was relaxed. There was music, but it was the right volume. We could hold a conversation without having to speak up, but could also enjoy the music while we were too busy enjoying the food to talk.

Food took forever arrive, we had to clear our own tables, and even helped to serve our own food

Called today for lunch enjoyed mybeef dinner lil jug gravy scrummy yorkshire pud my hubby had steak pie.friendly staff lovely food didnt wait long to be served our meals.only thing i realised after i finished my roasties were missing .not that it mattered to much i.was full cant wait pop in again soon 10/10

Been here on new years eve to get a steak. Ordered the sirloin at extra cost as I'm not a fan of fat in a steak. When it came it was a poor looking steak full of fat and it was not med/well. I politely asked for it to be changed and was immediately told to order something else as all the steaks were the same quality. Will not be returning. As for the reply.... why would I come back when I have had crap service. No thanks. Your business is food and drink and the food was below par for the other 3 people I came in with.

I WAS AT THE NEWTON GRANGE FOR A MOTHERS DAY MEAL AND DRINKS WITH MY MAM , DAUGHTER AND HUSBAND . THE 3 COURSE MEAL WAS FANTASTIC , DRINKS GOOD VALUE AND GREAT SERVICE AS ALWAYS BY THE STAFF , ESPECIALLY FRITZ. WELL DONE NEWTON GRANGE

My experience here is limited: I came here with friends on New Year's Day for a pint. But it's a nice spot: a decent selection of beers, nice atmosphere, and a good looking menu. And it's kid friendly, which is a plus. Basically, it's a chain with the vibe of a local hangout, and I'd gladly try the food when I come back—which is very likely. Recommended.

Spoiled our xmas day got a full refund after waiting 2 hours between starters and main course and when it did arrive the lamb shanks were still frozen inside so sent them back .turkey dinner was an insult hardly anything on the plate .sent food back to kitchen and left the pub.young men serving on tables had no experience and rude.no communication as if it was our fault they were a member of staff down.after comming here for a number of years there is no way I will eat here again .had my 93 and 91 yr old parents with us after 2 hours had to take them home unfed .

As a regular it is always a pleasure to visit the Newton Grange. Always made welcome and beers are always good. Recently had a mini refurb, nothing outstanding but has made it more clean and tidy with fresh paint, new carpets and refurbed now non sticky bar top. Been a major turn around of staff but not a problem as the new staff are as good and as friendly as the previous. Woyld recommend to anyone.

The pub was very cold, the food was dry overcooked and burned. I’ve had better cooked meals in the local greasy spoon cafe I will tell everyone of the dreadful experience we’ve had today in this pub and as a result we will never use a Marstons pub again

Thought we would give it another go since it was done out. It’s ok for a drink it the food is still terrible. Totally tasteless fried junk. It’s a real shame because the one in Killingworth is great for food.

Came for food. Can not fault it it all. Sirloin steak cooked to absolute perfection!! The pizzas are incredible!! The staff are so friendly and warming welcome. Highly recommended

Everyone there amazing but especially Amy Foster was so polite and really struck a sparlkof joy cause you dont meet a lot of people as polite as her in business like that will be recommending this to people thank you for such a nice enviroment.

Went because they now allow dogs. Took my dog, allowed in a tiny area only, not really dog friendly i think they are just paying lip service to the concept, the area we were in appeared to be a kids area, disruptive family next table, couldn't move elsewhere ! Table was MINGING, had to ask for it to be cleaned! Food was OK but could have been hotter. Really not somewhere I would go again! I would suggest the manager perhaps visits the Church Mouse to see what dog friendly looks like and how it works.

We frequent the pub and quiz. All staff great, however, Jaimie is a lovely barmaid always smiling and helpful, nothing a bother to her.

Went earlier this week over lunchtime. Haven't been here for a few years after I was served a bad plate of food last time and went home hungry. A good friendly service has not changed though. A very different experience this time regarding the food : it was excellent and I will be coming again either on my own or with friends. My guest comes here regularly already. I hope the standard is the same when the place is more busy.

The food was average and expensive for what we got so that is reason I have given them 3 stars. What does make this pub different is that they have their own pizza oven. I did have garlic dough balls but just not to my taste. It got busy fairly quickly so it had plenty of atmosphere and the staff were okay.

First visit and possibly the last??? The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bar counter has been well used and seen better days. I was on my own and not many 2 seat tables l used the app to order food which was hot but bland and expensive. Its an OK pub but l won't be rushing back ...... unless l win the £250.00 😊

We are regulars here and have always enjoyed the a good menu and good dishes but our first experience of Sunday lunch was a disappointment. They appear to focus on quantity rather than their normal quality. The beef was almost processed and hence very little flavour. Very generous proportions not necessary ...would have preferred better beef. The outdoor of the kitchen has been 'banging' for over a month now and nothing done. Either the hinge spring has gone or a stopper is required like the in door which is fine. Very distracting every few minutes when you are trying to relax with a quiet meal. Will keep an eye / ear open as it has been mentioned.

Lovely, respectful and charming staff. The food was delicious and the main course was promptly served. The dessert took longer, however. One of the desserts - a fudge with ice cream - was freezing to eat (the cake) which was disappointing. I also found the table and bar surfaces to feel sticky. Prices are competitive and we had a 30% off voucher which was very welcome as there were 11 of us at the meal. We will definitely return.

We popped in for a bite to eat as we had been out all day. We enjoyed the atmoshpere, food was served quickly and well prepared and prices reasonable. Suprised by range extensive range of food available, nothing fancy, various types of pub grub but our choice of chicken pie chips and peas was enjoyable nontheless.

Embarrassing. I ordered lasagne with the salad rather than upgrading to chips. There was no garlic bread so I asked a young male waiter with dark hair, he said he would go and get it. Came back, told chef said it didn't come with any garlic bread directed him to the menu and he said he would go back to the chef. He returned and explained as I had ordered salad I wouldn't get it. I said I dodnt, this was a garnish. At least I hope it was, as if this was a salad upgrade that would be a disgrace, brown lettuce, 2 pieces of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato! He insisted he was right. I asked what I needed to have ordered to have had garlic bread included, but he couldn't tell me. I felt he was bordering on rude and uninterested.

We stumbled across this pub by chance and it did not disappoint. Food was lovely and the member of staff running the food was very pleasant and took the time to talk to us and made me my partner and 2 kids feel very welcome.

Been to the Newton Grange many many times for food and just drinks but yesterday we were very disappointed. We sat at a table that WAS NOT RESERVED but just as we were enjoying our drinks after the meal we were approached by a member of staff asking us to leave as someone else wanted the table. I repeat this table did NOT have a reserved sign on it. When I said the table did not have a reserved sign on it the member of staff she just shrugged her shoulders and said she hadn’t expected us to stay so long (less then 2 hours). Is there a limit to the time you can stay at a table? There were many people sat at tables who had been there far longer. We had main meals and deserts and drinks. Fitz is this how you treat loyal customers.

Me and my family of 4 absolutely adored our experience at the Neetin Grunge. I would highly recommend the Newtown Granger to everyone thinking of going!

We went early evening. We managed to order the food of our choice this time. Unfortunately the tables are still very sticky otherwise our visit was satisfactory.

Visited the Newton Grange for a meal with family. Food was fantastic, it was steak night so steak and a drink was £12.95 which is great value. The guy who brought our meals was really friendly and made jokes with the kids which was fun. Will definitely be back

Booked a table for 10 people for a special birthday. The staff were very accommodating and went over and above to help, and the service was excellent.

We had a lunch time meal which was the size of a childs meal . And not the best.

It was a lovely time even tho there were a few areas booked out for party's they where very friendly when helping me for a table and the pizza was absolutely delicious from the pizza chef and the rest of the family's meals where amazing aswell we will definitely return great service

What a busy night! The pub was bouncing with life and so nice to see the local pub busy. People celibrating new borns and 70th birthdays. The staff did amazing to accomidate everyone with how buay it was. Cant recomend the pub and the food more!. What a team!

What an atmosphere! Came in and spoke to the bar staff who informed us that they were extremely busy but welcomed us to sit at the bar until a table became available, in no time at all we were seated. Food was lovely and will definitely return.

We had our son's christening party here with a buffet provided by the Newton Grange. The food was excellent and plenty to feed our party of 40. It was so easy to book, relaxed and family friendly atmosphere. They even set up our balloons and cake prior to arrival. Thankyou, would definitely recommend and will be using here to book future events.

Excellent meal on Sunday night, great value for money and very good service. We would strongly recommend.
