Fui a cenar.
Located within the Conrad Hotel, it is close to St James Park Underground station, with good transport links.
As you would expect, the location is beautiful. It is clean, exceptionally well presented with a quiet sophisticated atmosphere.
You cannot in any way find fault with the service, our waiters were friendly, attentive and very well presented. You were in no way pressured to finish your meal, the pace of the service being near perfect.
The afternoon tea was exceptional, being visually well presented and more than enough for two people. The sandwiches, the cakes and the scones were fresh and delicious. If you like your teas, the selection is astounding!
Along with the bottle of Bollinger Champagne this made for a very enjoyable afternoon.
Not the cheapest, but as a treat second to none. You have to try it just once.
The food and wine are good, the staff are friendly and efficient, but ... Lorne is let down by its parsimony. This begins with the offering of half a slice of bread to dip in some olive oil, continues with the tap water that later appears on the bill (“filter water”) and comes to a head with the distinctly ungenerous portion sizes - I estimate that 50% more of each course would have been a sustaining, value for money meal. And it isn’t as if ingredients such as ham hock and guinea fowl are especially expensive. The cheese portions - @£12 for two slim pieces - are especially niggardly. One shouldn’t spend £100+ per head, then feel hungry ninety minutes later. As such, I can’t recommend Lorne.
Amazing service and atmosphere. However, do not get the berry smoothie, it's basically a juice. Definitely get the mango smoothie instead. It was way better and super delicious. Honestly the berry smoothie should be rebranded as a juice. It was quite nice, but it just wasn't a smoothie. Hopefully this helps someone out.
He estado yendo aquí durante años y es el mejor indio tanto yo como yo, pero mi hijo e hija están de acuerdo en que este es el mejor indio que hemos tenido!
