Salut! in Islington

This is a delightful Islington restaurant at the bottom of the Essex Road. The ambience is warm and cozy and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely first class - the pea aspuma starter was a standout, but everything we had delicious and interesting without being pretentious. Heartily recommended and we'll be back again for more!

We were lucky enough to find Salut when visiting London with family; it was without doubt the best restaurant we have had the pleasure to eat in. The host was attentive, without bring intrusive, he brought a high level of professionalism with a good deal of humour. He made some recommendations which were very helpful to us, and explained what each dish was, so we knew exactly what to expect. The food itself was out of this world; we had mackerel, and also spring pea espuma for starters along with a bottle of wine. For our mains it was lamb rump; cooked to perfection and the pea and mint asparagus combo was brilliant. Dessert was also excellent; white chocolate mousse and poached rhubarb pavlova. All of us said that we'd definitely come again, likely with even more of us next time; well done to the Salut team, you made for an unforgettable evening.

A thoughtfully composed menu of 5 starters 4 mains and 3 sweets and fizz cheese and focaccia made up the Xmas day lunch which clearly all the diners were relishing . Charming welcoming staff and empathetic chefs working harmoniously to produce a memorable meal. There was a complete lack of pretension or stuffiness and this small restaurant ran like clockwork. An interesting and wide ranging wine list for all choices of food. We will return. Long may this place on the Essex Road thrive.

The dining experience was exceptional, particularly due to the exquisite scallop carpaccio and the delicious skate wing. The wine selection was impressive, and the service provided was flawless. I’m definitely planning to return without a doubt.

Exciting restaurant that fully met expectations. Located a little outside central London, but really worth the trip. We got four different starters and all were really exciting and good. For the main course, three of us had pork tenderloin and jaws - absolutely fantastic. The last of us had a lamb chop with a belly and anchovy porchetta, and one only very small complaint was that the lamb chop was a little chewy. The wine list is quite large for such a small place, and above all, it seems to be well selected, with interesting wines. The food is prepared in an open kitchen right next to the guests, and for those who sit so they can watch, it is interesting to follow along. The food is prepared in a very calm manner, no shouting. Overall noise level in the restaurant was fine, no problems having a conversation.

I had a superb birthday meal with my family. The food was excellent. The service was very good. The wines were of such a high quality. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant especially for a special occasion. I was not disappointed.

An old neighbourhood faithful with all you want from a restaurant that focusses on open cooking and great service. This time it was a work xmas lunch where they ably catered for 37 of us and everyone left very happy and delighted. Same time next year !

Amazing little gem in Highbury and Isligton! We had a 3 course lunch and all of them were very tasty, served perfectly and always with a special touch. The confit duck leg was cooked perfectly.
